Synopsis

Humanity was caught at a precipice a decade ago when the first gates—portals linked with other dimensions that harbor monsters immune to conventional weaponry—emerged around the world. Alongside the appearance of the gates, various humans were transformed into hunters and bestowed superhuman abilities. Responsible for entering the gates and clearing the dungeons within, many hunters chose to form guilds to secure their livelihoods.

Sung Jin-Woo is an E-rank hunter dubbed as the weakest hunter of all mankind. While exploring a supposedly safe dungeon, he and his party encounter an unusual tunnel leading to a deeper area. Enticed by the prospect of treasure, the group presses forward, only to be confronted with horrors beyond their imagination. Miraculously, Jin-Woo survives the incident and soon finds that he now has access to an interface visible only to him. This mysterious system promises him the power he has long dreamed of—but everything comes at a price.

I want to clarify that I'm not a big fan of battle shonen, but I still decided to give Solo leveling a shot because the ost is by Sawano. And I think this reason is solid enough to spend 4 hours of my life on it and go out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately, this is what Solo leveling's story never does.

The premise and the world is similar to Gate: there is a modern world and then one day a portal appears connecting our world to a fantasy one, but the fantasy world here never reaches the same depth like it did in Gate, and ...

Mixed Feelings
Okay, so this is a result of when an anime has been globally overhyped? I watched this whole anime in a day & I was having a very high expectation from it because many anime pages on IG shared the episode scores, the hyped everyone was making, people even got pissed off by the ep7.5 recap, I thought, "wow, is this anime really that good!?" But then this whole hype thing is only a disappointment.

Basically, MC was born as the weakest hunter, after encountering with the "system/God", he has the ability to level up himself through daily quests, fighting monster. There're character development going through ...
Apr 23, 2024
The MC is basically an overpowered protagnist that is the only one that can keep leveling up. It's guilty pleasure to root for the weakest mercenary and see him rise to the top. Except that the plot, character depth, development and side characters are very bare bones.

The art and animation is good, and VA for the MC is great. Fight scenes are nice but nothing out of this world or unique. The pacing is poor, and some episodes just goes by without adding any value to the series. Even with an already thread-bare plot and character depth, for some reason the animation studio decided ...
