Recommendations

Both series have the same sense of humor and absurd, comedic art packed with high amount of action in each episode, portraying how strong the protagonist is compared to the rest of the characters.
report Recommended by Aleron
Both are hero animes and while One Punch Man is already strong, the character around him are similar to those in Boku no Hero Academia. They both feature a lot of different heroes and their daily struggle. One Punch Man is a little darker in tone and if you want a strong protagonist from the get-go, try saiki kusuo no Ψ-nan or psycho mob 100 !
report Recommended by Souru
These are both light hearted comedic shows with similar senses of humour, neither show takes itself too seriously. Both MC's are ridiculously over powered, and decide to focus on the downsides of having such power.

The first thing I thought when watching Overlord, it's very much like One Punch Man. Overlord and One Punch Man got similar style while having different setting. You can tell the anime would be similar as their openings are similar style music. The main characters Momonga/Ainz and Saitama are also extremely strong, but not OP lame, they're strong that you want to see them go in FOR THE KILL !!!!! Dependable heroes.
report Recommended by iamKetranLang
Both have protagonist with simple mentality that are more strong that the rest of characters, their words have people with powers and the shows are full of comedy.
report Recommended by VDenazmimi
Where will you go if all your dreams have been fulfilled? That is the question that both series deal with. They don't have a serious plot, just the daily life of a man who is trying to live his life. There are battles and funny moments sometimes. Recommend to people who are looking for some funny anime to watch to add some spice to their life.
report Recommended by Hanaki_Neko
The protagonist in both shows is extremely strong. But they don't take the responsibility seriously, and end up talking about regular stuff in the middle of a fight that's supposed to be intense (like shop sales) which leads to comedy in both shows. If you liked the atmosphere in one show, you will most likely like the other show.

A modernised and commercialised / 'business' approach to the concept of superheroes existing in our world. Heroes are ranked based on points awarded AND subtracted for their actions in the line of duty. Public relations - mainly in terms of popularity - is also a factor. Every self-respecting hero needs a fan club, after all! In One Punch Man it is less important since it is more of a cartoonishly over the top series with hero rankings as window dressing, where as in Tiger & Bunny the entire plot is built around 'idol culture' televised heroics. But they are the only two series I have come  read more

Super strong Main characters with some comedy in the mix! Both great shows, i recommend for all!

One punch man has HERO ASSOCIATION, while hunter x hunter has HUNTER ASSOCIATION Both of them tells about character's unique power.
report Recommended by bradmaster
Protagonist is OP to ridiculous level which brings absurd situations and proper steamrolling of opponents. Sure, one is super hero parody, other is powerfantasy in fantasy setting. Both are kinda cheeky and not taking themselves seriously... and come on, the last battle in Misfit of DK Academy made laught so hard!!! And its comparable to the last fight in OPM in its sheer ridiculousness.
report Recommended by blackhaulmike
The similarities between these anime are endless. Happy-go-lucky protagonists, evil villains who might aswell have been in the opposite series, their personalities, the humor they share. The series as a whole really remind me of one another and give a very similar vibe.
report Recommended by Yamaro
Neither anime has an story, its a simple plot. They are both overwhelming cool/strong and this is displayed in all its glory to make us laugh.
report Recommended by bimbambusse
Both shows are filled with relentless action and a lot of comedy moments. The fights are over the top and flashy as possible. Also fights defies any logic or physics laws. The common part of both show is a cast of colorful and meaningful characters. The biggest difference, however, is the amount of fanservice. KLK is full of it, while OPM has it really low.

The everyday lives of tokusatsu heroes and villains, portrayed in semi-parodic tone of the superhero genre.
report Recommended by kadian1366
Both shows focus on "heroes", they are both light hearted comedies that don't take themselves seriously. Both shows have great sense humour, To Be Hero being slight more crass. They both have good animation, great character designs & amazing OST's.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
Both follow a very similar plot: the hero is OP. There is even a fairly similar villain in the anime, though I do have to say I feel that both are kind of mainstream in terms of how far anime goes. If you enjoyed one of these anime, you'll probably enjoy the other one.

Both based on original web comics by the same creator ONE. Both have very similar art styles, character designs and senses of humour. Both have received two seasons of anime adaptations. Both see their main character struggle with the excess of their own powers.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
Both anime are parody (isekai/ superhero) Both anime have OP main characters Both protagonists are seen as weak by everyone (mob character, background character) Both protagonists are trying to have fun despite finding everything boring.
report Recommended by stella555
When you watch a story, you want to see its hero struggle right? But sometimes, there are those stories where the hero fighting isn't the struggle, it's the world around him. Inferno Cop and Saitama never have to worry about losing a fight, but the absurd ways that the world treats them is what drives the humor and wonder of these shows.
report Recommended by IzzyHime
For the simple comparison in terms of doing an "overpowered" character right. In terms of entertainment, the cast of characters, supporting or main, world and the building of the said world, and story progression, yeah it pretty entertaining.
report Recommended by Alufei
They are both comedic stories that follow an overpowered "first hero" that has defeated the greatest monsters of the world, leading to the development of a Hero Association to manage heroes that protect the world from evil. These heroes are categorized into letter rankings based on assessments of their power. Our protagonists start off at extremely low ranks despite having overpowered abilities. I'll just say it. Hero's Return (Yingxiong Zai Lin) is pretty much just a donghua (Chinese animation) rip-off of One Punch Man. If you look closely, Saitama even appears as an easter in one of the mob/crowd characters of Hero's Return.
report Recommended by kaeeeeee
I'm doing this recommendation just because art/animation. These two anime has similar art and they are both shounen. Maybe it's happened because MAPPA has a connection with Madhouse in the past, i don't know. (Valid for OPM season 1 only.)
report Recommended by SerhaTR0483-2
The protagonist definitely reminded me of Saitama from One Punch Man. Strong but oblivious and nonchalant about his strength and helps other characters along the way who become interested in him due to his strength.
report Recommended by Aleron
They both have two Hilarious main characters who are both OP and trying to find a more challenging opponent to match up with their skills. Koro Sensei is trying to find a student who can kill buy the time his students graduate and Saitama after realizing he is too strong is getting bored of killing villains with One punch so in the end he is still trying to find a challenging opponent. Both Stories are VERY good and action packed. Also Saitama and Koro-Sensei are both teachers. They're both great shows to watch!

Maximum Humor , Amazing action scene , Nothing too serious to worry about Just Relax Watch Enjoy ,Thats how I see OPM & Gintama , [ although gintama gets serious quiet often ] , Both MCs don't care about what others say and laze around . Both anime have crazy characters [ I mean great characters who are original and have no similar somehow , ( again gintama characters are sometime go beyond crazy .. ) , Watching both of them is Fun

Two main characters that are both extremely overpowered. Other than Saitama, whose journey is literally to find someone who can beat him, Ichigo seems to be one of the quickest Shounen protags in developing his skills. He just seems gifted from the being.

Both anime feature strong protagonists, who have to defeat seemingly invincible enemies who threaten humanity. Both have a lot of over the top action and some comedy.

Both are comedic deconstruction of their said genre, one for Super Hero type anime while the other is for Isekai.

Both are newer titles that have great potential for longevity and made a big impact on the anime community. They both have great humour combined with high intensity action scenes and lovable characters. The character designs and OST's for both shows are incredible. They both have overpowered characters and great villains.

While both shows are very different in terms of story, genres, and setting, the core plot remains the same. Both shows have a protagonist that is viewed upon by most people around them based solely on their social status that was given to them under a sort of ranking system like a review board; which was created with several inadequate fatal flaws that fail to categorize them properly. And yet, everyone blindly accepts that review board as if it was the only one truth, not unlike how many see the Holy Bible; while refusing to see past those previously mentioned flaws and only seeing what  read more

A "normal" guy becomes a hero, with the typical "weird" monsters of the tokusatsu genre and hilarity stemming from ridiculous situations.

Similar MC. Both of the MC's are superior to other characters. The animation is smooth an visuals are gorgeus. Both also have a catchy opening song and great soundtracks.

- Both main characters are dull simpletons. - Humor. - Adult themes (not school). - Monster/devil hunting. - Monsters/devils lurk among the city which lead to some destructions. Don't expect it to be very similar. But I find many common points.

Do you like overpowered protagonists? Then look no further! Warning: this show contains muscles that defy logic.

The similarity of these anime is not on their plot or characters; it is in the quality of their animation. If you enjoyed the fluidity and the awesomeness of either series on your screens then the other is a must watch. Both series will give you greatly animated action scenes that will glue your eyes on the show each episode. Overall, One Punch Man and Kekkai Sensen are action-packed shows set in places filled with weirdness sprinkled with plenty of comedy.

It has overpowered (in a way) characters that absolutely cannot be beaten (with much confidence in their skills), and lots of humour.
report Recommended by BrownieFan
Both share the same rare anime theme of superheros, but Zetman takes a darker and more serious perspective on it with a more concrete story. The action is explosive on both ends and the main characters for each don't really care for a lot of things. The anime also share in having enemies that are more on the strange side.

One Punch Man and Hataraku Saibou are story about certain groups that doing their job to save "the world". Immune Cells = Heroes Viruses, Bacterias, etc. = Monsters Both have serious action scenes as well as comedy scenes. In One Punch Man, the story is mostly focused on Saitama, the overpowered hero. While in Hataraku Saibou, it's more like "Hero of the Day". However, the plot is different. Hataraku Saibou is an educational story about how cells work, while One Punch Man is a story about Heroes.

Great action, funny, awesome fight scenes. Overpowerd characters, cool attacks etc. And if you're liking the animation in One piece, try One punch man. In my opinion One punch man has the best animation i've ever seen. One punch man is a much shorter serie, it doesnt have as good as a story as one punch man. Not as great as character development as one piece does. BUT, one piece is one of a kind. No serie out there that I've seen comes near the adventureous and unique story of one piece. Both anime focus on a very strong protagonist, who usually defeats his enemies with ease. They have a lot of action and fights, but also a lot of lighthearted comedic moments. The character design is also somewhat similar, especially the first villain that Saitama faces, who looks like a blue Piccolo.

Both have an Overpowered Main Character and super amazing animation style. I like how they are both solo character and don't show off there true power every 2 seconds

Both parody fighting shonen tropes by featuring an apathetic insanely powerful hero. Senyu focuses on JRPGs, whereas OPM focuses on superheroes.
report Recommended by Deago
1. Amazing animation 2. Action 3. Mainstream 4. Great fights
report Recommended by RagonWest
Both are parodies of shounen battle anime featuring arcs and characters poking fun of stereotypical cliches seen in such anime series. Sexy Commando is mostly pure comedy and gags however, where One Punch Man actually does have somewhat serious action and a stronger focus on fights. Both are hilarious and entertaining. Also, both feature an inexplicably powerful and quirky protagonist that makes the rest of the characters seem laughably incompetent in comparison, even though you root for them anyway.
report Recommended by Kellhus
The main characters Seven and Saitama are very similar they're generally laid back and stupid but serious when they need to be. Both series have the same odd sense of humor. The worlds both involve super powers, advanced technology and fighting villains to make money.

Both Series came from a web novel, both series also have insane OP characters and comedy. Heroes Vs. Monsters? Gods Vs. Demons? Both are always fighting and having some peacetime.
report Recommended by KatoWorks
As shown in the MHA series before, the "one for all" quirk becomes stronger every time it's passed down. Saitama also known as "the One punch man" probably has that nickname because of his ridiculously strong punches. So this gives me the sentiment of that One punch man is MHA in the future with Saitama having inherited the One for all quirk. If my theory is right, you should at least relate to One punch man if you like MHA. But you can also differentiate the two easily.
report Recommended by Frippu1
Both anime have a similar humor style and mix of action and comedy, as well as a protagonist who is incredibly overpowered.
report Recommended by FAKECROSS97
While one is a gender-bender rom-com isekai and the other is a parody of the shonen/superheero genre with a focus on the protagonist's mental health, both shows feature a comically OP MC who's OPness is often a source of comedy during action. They also have very similar comedy styles making fun of their respective genres.

Similar fighting evil and supernatural themes, as well as (arguable) BL subtext and master/subordinate dynamic with friendship mixed in.

If u like badass overpowered MC then these two are for u. However OPM has superheroes with superpowers and focuses on comedy and parody. Whereas Hagure Yuusha has magical/ fantasy theme and focuses more on ecchi/harem/romance aspect. Also, both have over the top action

These two shows revolve around powerful people living a lifestyle that requires constant movement. A powerful person, Saitama, and a powerful organization, Libra, on a daily basis are fighting monsters / aliens in a modern day setting with a great action and comedy genre always present.

Both "Gintama Movie 2" and "One Punch Man" feature a unique blend of comedy, action, and satire. They both have a self-awareness of their own genre tropes, and often play with audience expectations in humorous ways.
report Recommended by FAKECROSS97
Both animes are about the heroes that are misunderstood. The MCs are despised and claimed worthless by fellow heroes and by the general public despite being the most capable amongst their comrades. Naofumi is the only one having the right attitude and understanding of their mission while Saitama is Just OP. Both meet several trusted allies or friends who deeply respect them.

Both are very well animated and the comedy is the strong point in both of them, the action in space dandy is also good and in my opinion is even more funny. I feel that people that love one punch man can love space dandy.

Like one punch man has a hero association hunter x hunter also has hunter association They both have main characters who are kinda overpowered - saitama for OPM and killuas family for HxH. Both have characters who struggle more in fights than others. Both protagonists are searching for something - a worthy adversary for saitama and his father for Gon. The only main difference between them is that HxH is a bit darker than OPM.

The two battle shounen I have enjoyed the most in two different moments of my life. Ueki no Housoku was part of my childhood, and One Punch Man introduced me to anime series again after years. They both share a simple and funny main character with a strong sense of justice.

They are both really good comedies and parodies in their own way. One Punch Man for the shounen genre and Crayon Shin Chan for the slice of life genre. The main characters in both animes are also really charismatical, and the secondary characters are probably crazier as well.

Just your run-of-the-mill, totally average super-powered people • BOTH have a story centered on a main character who may seem/want to be average, but ends up being the strongest there is! • BOTH have instances where the main character is underestimated by their opponents.

I might change this later when I re-watch OPM, but believe it or not, both of these series are relatively similar comedically. In order to fully appreciate both of these animes, you have to understand satire and how both OPM and Kaguya roast a lot of cliches in their respective genres. This is especially highlighted by the fact that Furukawa Makoto plays the MCs for both of them LOL (Saitama in OPM and Kaichou Shirogane in Kaguya). These are some of my favorites so I see the connection better than other people might. Take this with a grain of salt if you have seen one  read more

Both series parody common troupes in their respective genres. OPM makes fun of superhero shows like My Hero Academia and Bishounen is quite literally an attack on Ouran Koukou Host Club with Monogatari-like directing; heck Bishounen makes fun of its sister series of Bakemonogatari. Specifically, One Punch Man jokes about Gary Stus and 'bringer of justice' type characters while Bishounen attacks the male and female stereotypes of Ouran Koukou Host Club with fanservice parody, 'handsome vs. beautiful' nonsense. Both are hilarious.

Both share a similar sense of humor - irreverent parody of old action shows - and are consistently funny. Both have OP main characters. The main differences are their secondary genres: One Punch Man has cool fight scenes, while Love After World Domination has a cute romance and is ecchi-er. One Punch Man has prettier animation, but I find the animation quality of LAWD to work well with its humor.

Parody. One Punch Man and Pop Team Epic are both good parodies in the themes they play with. OPM doing this with an overpowered hero in the hero theme. PPTP just has silly surreal comedy to flex with. Both are really good parodies to the general formula of what you would get in the genres they situate in.

The main character trains his/her whole life to be the most powerful being ever, succeeds, and also becoming friends with a fangirl sidekick who wants to be as powerful as him/her. Both hilarious with the main difference of not being in the same kind of world.

Adventures of a creature who can one-shot anyone and anything he wants. OPM is more action-oriented anime while Instant Death is a simple isekai comedy with some absurd/parody elements.
report Recommended by kataneer
Both series involve overpowered protagonists that you end up rooting for regardless, due to the shows' abilities to focus on minor characters and their growths alongside the MC. As well as this, both protagonists kinda involve some sort of progression that you get invested in; with Slime you end up rooting for Rimuru's village's growth; with One Punch Man you end up rooting for Saitama's recognition in the Hero Association. All fights are full of hype- especially the ones where you know that the protagonist wins, and acts as catharsis when you see the villain finally get beat up.
report Recommended by anglersand
Both are action series with a heavy bent on comedy featuring an impossibly strong human hero who takes down all kinds of demons without much effort. Obviously don't expect the level of visuals OPM has in Helck, but they're pretty similar in tone and theme.

I find them similar mostly because the main characters Saitama and Violet give off similar vibes. Saitama and Violet are kind of indifferent and stoic. Neither of them show emotion. Both surpass average human beings in terms of physical capablities. Most importantly, even though they have lost their sense of purpose in life they try their hardest to smile and help other people

Not much other than protagonists are similar with them having a very funny head shape and are equally as facially expressively funny when the moments arrive. Saitama and Onara are also great teachers. Two very different comedies from the norm, with one being praised by a lot of people, the other being very strange, it speaks for itself.

Same kind of epic, over the top badass stuff. Both series have a start out pretty small but escalate to some huge fights. They're both pretty funny, but still have something serious about them. If you're willing to hop over a genre to a school romantic comedy, these two shows share quite a lot of similarity, especially in the protagonists. Both embrace a somewhat antihero role in their respective universes, despite being overall very well-intentioned. Yahari Ore honestly has very little romance in it, and if you're interested in the underlying issues that One Punch tries to tackle, there are many of the same themes and a similar comedic style.

One punch man is BOBOBO 2.0. Classic shonen parody

OK. Let me be clear. Both anime plots are very different, you can say that one is parody of heroes, another ''parody'' of school/ life, same with characters. Both anime have plenty of humor, protoganists are ''teachers'', jus one of them (Saitama) have one pupil, and they ( Saitama, Onizuka) are not very amm... educated...? But sometimes they give some wise man impression. Both getting involved in some ridiculous situations. Both have selfish gains: one is ''hero for the fun'' and wants to find strong opponent, other - became a teacher to create his own harem (lol), but both helps people in their environment. And last,  read more

both series have a nice battle scene. each series have comedy side in their story. but Akame story more suspenseful than OPM that have more comedic side.

Each MC (I'm going to go with Spike and Satiama) are both laid-back and nonchalant Villans can be quite ridiculous and outrageous, which I find to be a nice plus The series themselves are episodic, but are excellent comedies

Both the main characters are dumb and are super hero, and both have loyal disciples. And both series are comedy.

Both have beautifully animated fights. While OPM's fights are more about scale and impressiveness, Sword of the Stranger puts more of a focus on fight choreography.

One Punch Man and Yugioh GX have a powerful main char who wins in many battles but faces bad reputation from haters but do not mind their public image. JAM project does the opening in both shows as well.

When I watch OP Man, I thought of Saitama being the shonen version of Dante due to the various reasons: Both being OP and having countless victories, mysterious past, partnership with another powerful beings, They are isolated and will always be no matter what, and They are involved in various missions involving various people. Both anime have an episodic story line and fast paced action. I find DMC to be starkly contrasting to OP Man due to the dark tone and goriness. OP Man beats DMC in terms of popularity, story, character development, and media Nuff Said

Believe it or not, both these animes have things in common. Kinnikuman and One Punch Man are both satires to the "hero" ideology. Both series start with their protagonists trying to protect the world from monster attacks but both Kinnikuman and Saitama are underlooked by society. While Kinnikuman starts as a weak superhero but further progresses through the story and Saitama is already overpowered from beginning to end, both series feature over the top action, comedy, manliness, muscles, violence and friendship.

Overpowered main character. Absolutely ridiculous and over-the-top fight scenes, with plenty of budget and explosions. Entertaining and diverse characters. Solid comedy amidst the action. Main character punches things and they die in glorious fashions.

Both titles feature invincible protagonists who fight with their bare hands. Difference is that One Punch Man is funny, Shura no Toki is not.

The main characters in both shows are OP and have mysterious past and how they acquired their powers. Casshern Sins is the opposite of OP Man for the following Reasons: -Underrated to OP Man's Overratedness -Darker and Grittier tone to OP Man's Light and Goofy tone -Casshern is more emotional as opposed to Saitama's lazy demeanor Both shows are produced by Madhouse and if you enjoyed one or the other, watch it.

Both series are action heavy and feature intense, over the top fights against often surreal looking enemies. Contrary to One-Punch Man, Gantz is played serious and is a lot more violent however. People who enjoyed the fight scenes of One-Punch Man more than they did its humour might find more of what they're looking for in Gantz.

Tomoko really look and act like Saitama, strange physic, weird smiles etc ... Both of them are strangers to their environment, and are not recognized as they should be

Main Similarities: •Bad guys come, the main character deals with them. •Both main characters in the anime are very strong. •Similar plot/setting. •Similar-ish genres.

Both series have a protagonist that have a completely different attitude from the rest of the characters and don't really fit with the setting. Like Saitama, Vash the Stampede is an enigma who is extremely skilled compared the vast majority of fighters (not super OP like Saitama though), but is almost misunderstood by everyone. If you like Saitama, you will almost definitely like the way Vash fits in with his respective universe as well.

Keijo is an anime like One Punch man because they have one joke, but it is VERY funny. Butts hitting each other? Punching things? Comedy gold! Neither anime get bogged down by useless things like plot or character development.

The humor technique is similar- tsukkomi- where one person does or say something dumb and another person calls him/her out on it. (For One Punch Man it's Saitama and Genos and for Cuticle Tantei Inaba it's (Mostly) Valentino and Kei) Cuticle Tantei Inaba just focuses more on the plot whilst One Punch Man is more on making the gag.

Although their setting and mood are different (with OPM being a comedy and HnK being more tragic), both anime focus on an overpowered main character, who kills enemies almost effortlessly. Both have great art and over the top action.

Both are episodic, monster-of-the-week series about super power users, both with skeletal main plot. Both contain some fanservice, and both are intended parodies of the 'it's so stupid it's hilarious' kind. Both explore single joke for most of their run. While their underlying jokes are completely different, both series hinge upon one finding the joke good enough to sustain their attention for the whole 12 episodes.

Both are recent comedy shows, which use many tropes and cliches from anime of similar genres for parodic entertainment. Their stories are quite simple and revolve around the same jokes, but their charm comes exactly from their simplicity. While Doamaiger D serves as a parody of the super robot genre, One Punch Man is a parody of superhero shows and comics, making them quite similar in atmosphere and vibe.

Both anime have a very strong main character, who is trying to find strong opponents, but usually ends up defeating them easily (although their reasons for doing so are not the same). They also have a similar sense of humor and supernatural abilities.
report Recommended by BohemianRhapsody
Both anime use common tropes that are present in other works of the same genre as their foundation, in order to expose and make fun of them (OPM uses tropes from the superhero genre, while TTGL uses tropes from the super robot genre). Both shows have a similar type of humor and over the top action scenes. They are self-conscious shows that try to be entertaining and are not meant to be taken seriously. They also create a similar atmosphere and vibe.

It is hilarious and entertaining and a parody of shounen. Sound, characters and art is nice. The whole package is good and if you loved Hayate no gotoku! then you will certainly enjoy one punch man.
