Black Lagoon and Jormungand share NUMEROUS similarities. The emphasis on dominant, psychotic women, both in the physical AND mental arenas, is one. A heavy focus on guns is another. And perhaps the most obvious is that both series revolve around mercenary crews that make money via smuggling goods. I made a manga recommendation based on this years ago. But what I find far more striking, after finishing the anime, is how they differ. Lagoon sets an infectiously dark mood from the outset with its 'slums of the world' setting. It's set in the real world but the fictional city everything is based out of is a  read more

The similarities between these two great series are evident. Average Japanese guy gets involved with a not exactly legal organization and sees his life changing completely. His initial innocence also fades more and more. Both anime are mature, dark, violent, with a rotten and outlaw feeling, and have great animation and music. Add guns, mafia, action, and you'll get some really good entertainment.

Imagine a world where the law plays no vital part in, it’s your way or the death highway… if your attentions are drawn in then prepare yourself for a joyous ride filled with money and bloodshed. The quality of the songs presented by these giants are just the tip of the iceberg in this overwhelming experience. ‘Gangsta’ plunges right into business, showing the sickening circumstances and filth which existed in front of your very doorstep. Might makes right and territory comes with it, the only victors are the ones equal in footing but deadlier in passion and would do whatever necessary to erase a target. Sexual  read more

If you liked the non-stop action and eccentric/intriguing cast of characters in Baccano! I have a feeling you'd definitely like Black Lagoon. Sure, it doesn't have quite the focused storyline Baccano! had, but it is well worth watching nonetheless.

-Both feature a japanese main character that happens to get thrown in a group of 'criminals'. In Black Lagoon it's a group of mercenaries, while in Great Pretender it's a group of con artists. -There are interesting backstories for the members of the group. -Black Lagoon is more of a thriller with mature themes but both series show the darker sides of humanity. -There's a very distinct western vibe in both shows. - We get to see the risky heists and missions of the groups.

CANAAN and Black Lagoon have very much the same feel to it. Both the main characters are bad-ass women with guns with a lot of good action, both series are mainly located in a urban city in China and are well illustrated. They both have a sense of dark organizations doing things behind the scene, though Black Lagoon has it less and doesn't have any fiction things (like non existing viruses and such) CANAAN and Black Lagoon are both very awesome series to watch if you like action and gunfights.

Badassery, gunfights and both are amoralistic. Also there're nazis in both animes.

I would recommend Black Lagoon the 1st and 2nd season as a similar anime to Michiko to Hatchin. Both seem to happen in some spanish territory. We can see lots of action, guns, mafia, pursuits. Michiko is quite similar to Revy. Both main characters are strong, independent women with a unique personality and complex past. I would say Black Lagoon TV series are the best equivalent to Michiko to Harchin.

Both series are set in an almost identical place, with a city overrun by a variety of criminal organizations who struggle for the control of it. However, the path taken by each series is different. Gungrave starts off by exploring the past of the character Brandon Heat and later on his ressurection and revenge against the syndicate known as Millenion while Black Lagoon develops around a small group, consisting of Revy, Rock, Dutch and Benny, with the name of Lagoon Company and how they carry their jobs given by other major syndicates. Despite this both involve guns, fights, characters that will surely get 'stuck' in  read more

Both animes Pne of the mc in both animes is a japanese innocent and good guy, who goes overseas and gets involved into the world of violence and gangs. Both of them builds a strong connection with a person from that alien to them enviroument, which changes their own reality forever. In both shows there is good action, animation and both give off a similar feel, though Black Lagoon is more action oriented and consists of mini arcs, while Banana Fish follows one story arc.

The whole time I watched Black Lagoon, it reminded me of Hellsing. Quite similar art in both anime titles, as well as characters. Hellsing is overall more supernatural than Black Lagoon, and a bit more serious and Black Lagoon a little more easy going, but I would would say that if you liked one of them, you'll like the other one.

Both shows start with the MC initially having a peaceful life until a girl who belongs to a criminal organization got the MC involved and dupes the MC. Despite all that the MC decided to join said criminal gang and the girl sort of become his love interest. Both are set in a lawless town where everyone does illegal things and there is a lot of action with gunfires, loads of killing and blood. However, Cyberpunk is way more edgier considering it have some adult content in this series. Cyberpunk also takes on a different direction halfway through its show as the MC of black  read more

Although the settings of these shows aren't that close, they are similar in that they aren't set in Japan which is the most common setting in anime. These shows also focus on strong female characters who love using guns. They also tend to imitate movies which means they are somewhat more grounded when it comes to abilities of their characters.

Super cute assassin ass kickers who like to dress in hotpants and tanktops. Revy is a little more darker and mysterious than Madlax (quiet and sophisacted). But overall they both have to fight against mobsters and gangesters in order to reach their goal. Madlax started off as a Mercenary for hire type of anime but then strayed off course for obvious reasons, but Black Lagoon is a "Mercenary for Hire" anime all they way through.

Black Lagoon and Speed Grapher are both similar shows. Both are action packed and suspensefull. Both have blood, gore, violence, death, and sexual things going on(more sexual things in "Speed Grapher") . Both can get really dark, and still punch in a great joke here and there, but not get silly. Both shows have gun fights (more in Black lagoon) that may ask you to suspend your belief a little bit (but this is good from time to time). Both groups of characters also have a techie character(s), a strongman, someone who is relatively new and inexperienced in their new profession, and side characters to provide the occasional comedic crack. Also explores many questions involving a perceived loss of humanity and psychological well-being, in one falling to savagery and "base" behaviors and the other to in a sea of cybernetic technologies. Well both had a major female characters, with a lousy backgrounds, and that are good with guns. Besides, their storytelling is very similar, though unlike gunslinger girl, there isn't any major story that can be seen as a result of the episodes that is watched, in black lagoon. Both have gunfights, and average pace.

Darker than Black has a more supernatural tendency than Black Lagoon, but the idea of mercenaries kicking butt everywhere is pretty much universal to both these anime. Amazing action sequences, gun fights, agendas and plotting, blood and gore, they've got them both. If you want an anime with similar action style, watch this

Both have a lot of gore and violence. Granted, no zombies and its way less ecchi, but they basically have the same core character plot. Highschool has zombies and Black Lagoon is darker with the romance.

In both animes the protagonist was doing well in their respective field but suddenly everything changes. In Monster, the doctor has a normal life before he saved the life of a young boy. Rock was a salaryman before getting kidnapped by pirates/mercenaries from Black Lagoon. The atmosphere and the story telling in both are that of a much more realistic yet also with more darker/tragic aspects.

First off: This also includes the Secound Season of Black Lagoon as well. Although Black Lagoon and Rainbow don't have much in common concerning the storyline, characters and such, they are incredibly similar in one perspective: The atmosphere that is created while watching the story unfold. For the most part it is the same dark and sometimes heavy atmosphere where hope or other positive things dont exist at first glance and are hard to find. Both feature a motley crew of sinners, of people who fight, kill, or conduct shady deals for a living. In Black Lagoon, the main characters are modern-day pirates. In Durarara!!, many characters are gang members, part of the black market, or just plain old thugs.

Claymore... who doesn't love Claymore? While it's very hard to find a kick-ass female lead like Clare in anime, I thought Revy from Black Lagoon was just as bad-ass as Clare. If you liked one, you should be able to like the other. Claymore is more fantasy themed, while Black Lagoon is more modern.

Whislt both trully deal with very different subjects, since one is a agriculture slice-of-life and the other is a seinen action, both are similar in a way: -None of the characters are special, but they are very likable, you will sympathize with everyone. -Have golden character interactions you probably never saw in any other media. -Are divided in mini-storys/Is episodic. Mafias, drama, epic struggles, a cast of very diverse characters and the formula of autoconclusive mini stories (if not 1, 2 chapters) at the first half, to be more complex in the second (in black lagoon is the second seasond). In addition, they have a protagonist with little protagonism that joins a criminal organization, but is still a good person.

Spriggan and Black Lagoon can be summarized as episodic, action-packed, violent series. With episodic series, the A plot is limited to a single episode and is intended to showcase the characters whose arcs become the B plot. Everything therefore rides on the characters and the setting. Black Lagoon is highly regarded for its characters and setting. It has depth that elevates the series from what could have been a regular action series. Spriggan has very fluid animation, which is very important for an action-packed series, but it struggles on the characters and the setting. While Black Lagoon and Kuroshitsuji look different on the surface, they are both excellent at bringing across the feeling of darkness, more specifically, darkness within humans. Both are crime-infested shows, that have one or more completely badass characters, and one or more that'll send a chill down your spine. The only real difference between the two, is that Black Lagoon has more realism to the fighters (they're all humans) and Kuroshitsuji has more realism to the setting it's placed in (Victorian England).

Revy (Black Lagoon) is a hired hit-woman who fights with 2 guns in 2 hands, and she causes lots of explosions. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!
