Both shows start with the MC initially having a peaceful life until a girl who belongs to a criminal organization got the MC involved and dupes the MC. Despite all that the MC decided to join said criminal gang and the girl sort of become his love interest. 

Both are set in a lawless town where everyone does illegal things and there is a lot of action with gunfires, loads of killing and blood. However, Cyberpunk is way more edgier considering it have some adult content in this series. Cyberpunk also takes on a different direction halfway through its show as the MC of black lagoon remains as one of the members of the gang while the MC of Cyberpunk edgerunners takes the leader role eventually.

Another difference is that while Cyberpunk is set in a Sci-Fi setting with a lot of cyborgs and tech stuff, Black lagoon is set in the near past.

So if you liked Black lagoon but need more heavy action, Cyberpunk is a strong recommendation. However, Black lagoon is more "tame" in comparison so while it is a good show, it is not as edgy as cyberpunk is. But it is a good alternative for young teens though. read more

A boy joins a badass team of wanted killers, who works in the shadows against various evil forces and villains. They will run very dangerous tasks, with crazy people and epic moments. Really violent and cruel shows.

Although the settings of these shows aren't that close, they are similar in that they aren't set in Japan which is the most common setting in anime. These shows also focus on strong female characters who love using guns. They also tend to imitate movies which means they are somewhat more grounded when it comes to abilities of their characters.

Super cute assassin ass kickers who like to dress in hotpants and tanktops. Revy is a little more darker and mysterious than Madlax (quiet and sophisacted). But overall they both have to fight against mobsters and gangesters in order to reach their goal.
Madlax started off as a Mercenary for hire type of anime but then strayed off course for obvious reasons, but Black Lagoon is a "Mercenary for Hire" anime all they way through.

Black Lagoon is similar to FMP with the whole Mercenary thing, but Black Lagoon is a lot more vulgar than FMP. Both great series.

If you liked Black Lagoon, you may like Full Metal Panic! Both series are action-filled and involve mercenaries and are based from a naval unit. Black Lagoon is a bit darker, more bloody, more philosophical, and a bit more personal in the fights while Full Metal Panic! has more humor and silly episodes. However, when the action starts for Full Metal Panic! and the bullets start flying and people start dying you'll enjoy this series as well. There's mech sliding, grenade throwing, RPG lauching, booby traps setting, hostage taking, body-guarding, character kidnapping, submarine diving, ambush laying, AK firing, and other assorted mayhem in Full Metal Panic! that will fill the action that you crave. read more

Well, these two series have gotten my attention and I like to say that FMP and Black Lagoon definitely has some similarities that I found entertaining to watch throughout its course of the episodes.

Both series involves two individuals who has a strange bond with each other. One half of the pair has skills involving the usage of guns and other weaponry while the other serves as a sort of mentor/guidance of the duo.

Both series involves a group that hires others to complete specific tasks. These tasks are often dangerous and puts their lives at risk.

Both series' main cast of characters all are independent and have skills of a mercenary including the operation of various vehicles and handling of weaponry.

Both series has a lot of action, drama, and some emotional moments as the series progresses. read more

They both have a similar humor and Main protagonist has the Exact same relationship with the female lead. Both are action filled with one of the leads being a gunslinger bad ass and the other being kind of hopeless.

Black Lagoon and Speed Grapher are both similar shows. Both are action packed and suspensefull. Both have blood, gore, violence, death, and sexual things going on(more sexual things in "Speed Grapher") . Both can get really dark, and still punch in a great joke here and there, but not get silly. Both shows have gun fights (more in Black lagoon) that may ask you to suspend your belief a little bit (but this is good from time to time). Both also involve "different" types of fight scenes we are not used to seeing in anime. For example in "Speed Grapher" we get a guy who can make a camera kill people vs. a guy who's skin is like rubber. In "Black Lagoon" we get a speed boat vs. a helicopter!! Both shows seem "realistic" and put Hollywood to shame. As Revy from " Black Lagoon" says "Don't be stupid, this is way more entertaining than Hollywood's ever gonna be." or as Ginza from "Speed Grapher" says "Don't make me self defense you too!"  read more

Both groups of characters also have a techie character(s), a strongman, someone who is relatively new and inexperienced in their new profession, and side characters to provide the occasional comedic crack. Also explores many questions involving a perceived loss of humanity and psychological well-being, in one falling to savagery and "base" behaviors and the other to in a sea of cybernetic technologies.

In fact, the main difference is which side of the law the characters work on and the cyberpunk  vs renegade theme.

Well both had a major female characters, with a lousy backgrounds, and that are good with guns. Besides, their storytelling is very similar, though unlike gunslinger girl, there isn't any major story that can be seen as a result of the episodes that is watched, in black lagoon. Both have gunfights, and average pace.

Darker than Black has a more supernatural tendency than Black Lagoon, but the idea of mercenaries kicking butt everywhere is pretty much universal to both these anime. 
Amazing action sequences, gun fights, agendas and plotting, blood and gore, they've got them both. If you want an anime with similar action style, watch this

Both have a lot of gore and violence. Granted, no zombies and its way less ecchi, but they basically have the same core character plot. Highschool has zombies and Black Lagoon is darker with the romance.

black lagoon has a more Marfia vibe to it. and btoom! a beat the odds in a game vibe.

In both animes the protagonist was doing well in their respective field but suddenly everything changes. In Monster, the doctor has a normal life before he saved the life of a young boy. Rock was a salaryman before getting kidnapped by pirates/mercenaries from Black Lagoon. The atmosphere and the story telling in both are that of a much more realistic yet also with more darker/tragic aspects.

First off: This also includes the Secound Season of Black Lagoon as well.

Although Black Lagoon and Rainbow don't have much in common concerning the storyline, characters and such, they are incredibly similar in one perspective: The atmosphere that is created while watching the story unfold. For the most part it is the same dark and sometimes heavy atmosphere where hope or other positive things dont exist at first glance and are hard to find. I admit, I lied there is another similarity: The deeper psychological meaing behind those animes, you can find many different ways of interpretating these series in both of them and let me tell you, they exceed the typical cliché " learning about friendship" and go way more interesting. So if you liked the atmosphere and psychological background of this anime you will defintely enjoy Rainbow. read more

 It has the feel of Yu Yu Hakusho in regards to it witty humor, fun characters, and jaw dropping action. Not to mention a very well written and casted english dub. Be warned, this is a very graphic anime.

Both feature a motley crew of sinners, of people who fight, kill, or conduct shady deals for a living. In Black Lagoon, the main characters are modern-day pirates. In Durarara!!, many characters are gang members, part of the black market, or just plain old thugs.

I haven’t watched the entire series. But it got the same pirate theme as One Piece. A bit more serious, tho. So, due the rarity of pirate-themed anime, I would like to recommend this anime.

Both are focused on action in a tropical foreign setting and have characters being placed far from home situations and they must adapt to the new environment in order to survive and both have amoral mercenaries who  often leave chaos and havoc everywhere they go as well too.
