A blood world filled with paradise where both the main characters find themselves in an irresistible position of being able to own the highest standard of a woman. 'Highschool of the Dead' highlights the struggle for survival when the apocalypse has arrived. In the midst of such danger, desires arise in the most unpredictable of situations and the thought of 'you only live once' comes into play which in turn leads a person to show his true colours. 'High School DxD' exhibits an ambitious person who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, be it in a comedic or perverted way. Putting battles side, adding  read more

To put it simply, these stories are in a Highschool, "Post-Apocalyptic", Survival setting. Both shows portrays the drama in living in a world surrounded by "them". Each has it's own way to provide "service to the fans", but at the end of the day it's all about trying to survive in the god-forsaken world they live in. (Also the endings are performed by Maon Kurosaki.)

The main theme for both anime series is" survival." Their peaceful days are changed forever. The humans face an unstoppable force that causes the world to panic in fear. The Zombie/Titans appear in groups and attack on instinct. With only a select few of brave humans will humanity survivor or cease to exist.

The mere notion of combining tits & arse fan-service with serious subject matter/direction is usually a BIG no-no. People that want smutty antics usually do not much care for death and non-orgasmic thrills, and vice versa. But these two series are a special kind of exception to that most logical of rules. HotD refreshes the quite literally done-to-death zombie genre with a haremish, alpha male approach to survival. The other pokes fun at any and every prison escape story with the aid of srsbiz 'horror' male faces and femdom overload. Money is also happily thrown around in the way of budgeting to improve the eye-candy  read more

Contains a lot of violence as well as a good amount of fan service.

Both anime are focused on survival, and the main characters are constantly worried about betrayal. Rightfully so, I might add. Highschool of the Dead has massive amounts of ecchi and fanservice while Btooom has barely any.
report Recommended by BreezeElric
This show doesn’t feel like it belongs to the 2021 winter season, This show reminded me more of shows like Highschool of the Dead. If you like the whole feel of those kinda shows you’ll probably like this one. Horror aesthetics with no actual horror, basically just some dumb fun with lots of ecchi.
report Recommended by Animendez
The protagonists and their friends are isolated from society (or a lack of), and they must fight for their survival. Both are gory in nature and features heated fight scenes.
report Recommended by coolwolf
Both anime have pretty much of the same feeling as a survival with a group of people except Kanbaneri is more about survival with a group of cowardly people with only a few strong whereas Highschool's group of characters are all strong and gets stronger each episode. Both anime may take place in a different time period but the basic idea is fighting the undead, people get bit and come back to attack humans. The amount of gore and nudity is about the same but Highschool is more ecchi, after all, it is about a bunch of teenagers.
report Recommended by Aleron
Both don't have a serious story and is all about the badass characters and the gory action, both have zombies in them, both have bad ass weapon specialist. HOTD has ecchi and Hellsing Ultimate has those cartoon comedy moments. Both are high quality animation Madhouse production.
report Recommended by supersayen
Both ecchi. Both are about zombies. HSOTD is WAY more ecchi and violent ~ both really good. ;3

Tired? Stressed? You will feel better sitting on the couch watching fanservice (the source of all problems). Storylines play no important role in these two worlds where sexual attraction and pleasure conquers all. ‘Highschool of the Dead’ puts you in a world of zombie filled with stench of death where hope is the furthest thing from one’s mind. In the depths of this crisis, a group of gorgeous females charms the city with both their look and appealing physiques. It is almost impossible to miss out on a potentially hot scene wherever you are. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing beautiful woman taking out zombies  read more

Both are zombie animes, other than that these two are completley different.Sankerea is about trying to prolong a zombie girls life while Highschool of the Dead is just about escaping from the zombie infestation. But you dont find many zombie animes so if your a zombie fan like me you'll enjoy both.

Both Have Like That Same Vibe / Feeling even though one is about zombies and one is about dead kids and their life. U get the feeling that like the group is fight against everything else and like stick together with lots of comedy =D hotd has more eechi though.

Tragedy happens and people struggling to survive. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is better though; no violence, no fan service, just pure humanity.

While Higurashi no naku koro ni is a lot more Mystery and about mysterious murders, both of them contain a lot of gore.
report Recommended by -Sora-
Similar MC Saeko Busujima < Akame Takashi "Taka" Komuro < Tatsumi Both are in a group that's all about eliminating the evil and surviving. Both live in a world where the ruled by the evil. Differences: Akame ga Kill's Night Raides group has more members. Akame ga Kill is fantasy and medieval while HoTD is more realistic and in the current time. HoTD is very ecchi. The differences are HUGE, but both have kind of the same feel.

-Both have human-eating creatures -Both are human-eating creatures vs human species -Trying to survive the apocalypse, wanting to lead an ordinary life. -Both main protagonists are involved in something they don't want to be in.
report Recommended by kurokenshi07
Both of these take a serious premise, like zombies or mutants, and then throw in an incredibly unnecessary level of fanservice.
report Recommended by robfoster
Both have a lot of gore and violence. Granted, no zombies and its way less ecchi, but they basically have the same core character plot. Highschool has zombies and Black Lagoon is darker with the romance.
report Recommended by Buttink
In both animes everything was peaceful, until suddenly people start turning into monsters, zombies in High School of the Dead and vampires in Shiki. Both anime contains an atmosphere of horror and mystery. If you want an anime with blood and slaughter, both are recommended.

Same Western styled Horror and walkers (albeit different styles).
report Recommended by Crani
Both of these shows are all about the zombies! Not much else to say. Each of their protagonists are unhappy with their lives until an outbreak of zombies changes everything. The highlight of both of these shows is how the ensemble of characters get together in order to face this new world order and face many tribulations. Regardless, there are many laughs to be expected from both of these stories.

Both of the series contain many buxom girls having bloody fights with undead monster while their clothing is getting ripped apart.

Both anime contain blood, ecchi and almost the same plot. Watch 11 eyes, you won't make a mistake.

Action, Supernatural, Thriller/Horror, Both anime contains the same genres, Both are a little bit brutal, (Even though on High School Of The Dead they killed zombies? Is that called a brutal?) No wonder, There are some blood shed, Action, Fighting, And I've seen some zombies in Mirai Nikki, Isn't that called a zombie? Or err, Just similar to zombie would be fine, One more thing, Both shows contains Mild Nudity. High School of the dead shows some porn? Or what, Just what they mean "Ecchi" And about the Mirai Nikki, I think less than?

Both are set in post-apocalyptic worlds ravaged by infection spreading monsters (Gastrea in "Black Bullet", "Them" in "Highschool of the Dead") and focus on a group who work together in order to survive and combat the threat. The main characters are also quite similar: Rentaro=Takashi===> Both are generally nice guys whose actions tend to be very pragmatic, and can fight both physically and with a gun. Enju=Rei===> Both are the kindest of their groups who show sympathy even for the infected beings, and tend to call out the others for their more ruthless actions. Kisara=Saeko===> Both are beautiful, highly-skilled swordswomen with a very violent and unstable side. I prefer  read more

Both have a lot of fan service. Both have a girl who is out for revenge against an authority figure. Both try to overdose on comedy. Lots of perverted, and cheesy jokes. The action scenes are pretty good, but sometimes either overdoes is or under does the action.

they have something in common where the same world is hit by a pandemic, the difference is that in this anime, humans don't turn into zombies, but turn into monsters.

It has the same animation style as H.O.T.D It also involves action, lil goriness and romance. If U like one,U'll eventually like the another ;)

Surprised no one already recommended this anime. Similarities include gratuitous violence, strong overly attractive female leads, zombies and the like. A must see if you like HS of the dead.

Boobs, action, and countless Crowning Moments of Awesome. A lot of the main chars are comparable: Sasha= Komura, Mafuyu= Rei, Teresa= Saeko, Ekatrina= Saya, Tomo=Shizuka, etc. Both have really good (And similar) art and were made recently. SnQ is more fantasy themed though, while HOtD is slightly more realisic.

Both have next to no plot development until the last two episodes, and both also are only held together by an incredibly epic fatty that serves as comic relief.

In turmoil, a boy unintentionally gets a harem and fights his enemies, searching for a way to get over the loss of his lover. One is a school, the other is zombies.

Both are horror stories about a girls(s) fighting horde of zombies. While Highschool of the Dead is more ecchi, Chainsaw Maid is more of an experimental ONA.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Same kind of atmosphere. Embodies gore, comedic relief, and chracter development to a certain extent. If you enjoy HOTD, you will enjoy Shi Xiong as well.
report Recommended by ant6704
They are set in a post-apocalypse universe, them are in a place "closed to the rest" to learn things. The first impressions are that will be focused on they against the "monster", but are more focused on the personalities and interaction of the characters.

NGNL and HOTD are both fun ecchi action pack shows made by madhouse that unfortunately are probably never going get a second season.

Although one involves zombies and the other involves witches both have uncanny similarities. In "Gokukoku no Brynhildr" the male protagonist "Murakam, Ryoutai" has the amazing talent of photographic memory and the ability to stay cool, calm and collective in situations that really count. Situations arise around Ryouta which call for quick and cleaver decision making which he follows through brilliantly to protect his childhood love and everyone around him. Characters come and go really quick but if you look at "Highschool of the Dead", a lot of characters come and go really quick or should I say the main cast dispose of them really quick and  read more

* Both has most disliked thing in MAL - Fanservice!!!! * Female MC's are badass af when needed ( invincibility mode?? ) * Action...Action....and more action in every episode!!! * Grenadier is more simplistic show....(MC always wins no matter what) unliked HOTD, MC's are fucked up in that Zombieland...they're never safe from anything... * Recommending only for normal/casual viewers.....( not for douchebag elitist/troll/hater pricks )

Cool action scenes... Tits...butts.... overall all girls is sexy as hell.. Cool male - maybe?] MC's.... Fighting the 'EVIL' creatures... in HOTD - zombies[ zombies are EVIL, right? ] and in HDxDB another evil creatures.... Both are MUST WATCH NOW !!! shows... Harem...ecchi....Harem...action...Harem......[Harem?] both are the best shows of the Mighty [ HAREM ] genre... P.S. Not for Elistists....or Feminists....

Similarity - In HOTD ppl become zombie, but in ZT they become iron. Difference - HOTD purely focusing on escape from zombies

For mature audiences only. They are a bit different in storytelling but similar in their own way. Both settings are in highschool.
report Recommended by Half-MagePrince
The setting of a post-apocalyptic world is a commonality between these two shows that otherwise feel very dissimilar, with "High School of the Dead" being set in a modern Japan whilst "A Wind Named Amnesia" being set in a more futuristic United States. The male protagonists from both anime are kindhearted and straightforward action heroes, especially when they jump into danger in order to save people in need of help.
report Recommended by StevenHu
These animes are both very suspenseful and exciting to watch. After you watch one episode you can't stop watching. In both animes, the characters are constantly trying to survive making the watchers intrigued every episode.

Both set in apocalypse context. Main character both surround by multiple girls. Characters from both show forget about what world has become in later episode/OVA
report Recommended by oscardoudou
Both of these are stories revolve around zombie attacks in a school setting (The school setting isn't for the full story of HOTD though). Highschool of the dead is more fan-servicey but both can give off similar vibes and rooftops are memorable locations within both.

-Both are comparable on the aetheric plane and both deserve a 10/10 -Both deal with character development and overarching story elements -Both stem from Professor Einstein's theory of relativity -Both reflect a world in which an event has shaped the future of a city/town

I really don't see how noones made this connection yet! We all love guns, we all love a bit of fan service. Highschool of the dead is alot more serious than Sabage-bu but i mean c'mon you wanna see cute girls with guns then they're both great anime to watch really!

honestly they are both weird but solid shows

I think if you like 7 seeds then definitely you will like highschool of the dead, bot anime have strong stories and string characterize.
report Recommended by f9laawy
The premises are not particularly similar, one involves high schoolers in a zombie apocalypse, the other the JSDF in a fantasy world. However, If you enjoy either of these for the right reason; that being laughably over the top action and an intense hard on for guns and weapons on the part of the author. Then you're sure to enjoy the other

They are both ecchi anime where the main characters have to fight off zombie-like creatures

Both souls have in the story zombies, apocalypse, and characters who save each person etc.
report Recommended by shinya_hiiragi1
Woah okay this is a weird recommendation but hear me out. The first similarity is the highschool students got stuck in the zombie apocalypse and try to survive. Not only that, the genre of these anime are horror and action. Also, blood and gore are included in both anime
report Recommended by Justamalayboy
Both series heavily rely on ecchi and harem concepts. Of course the both series are vastly different in setting and one being quite better than the other but where one (HOTD) serves as an action and the other (Rescue me) is a comedy. Both have one male, somewhat gentleman, being surrounded by archetype girls who all wants him for what ever reason.
report Recommended by ProfaneValkyrie
Maji de Watashi Koi Shinasai! is another anime based heavily on action scenes and fanservice, although less of the latter than HotD. Though not yet complete, Watashi Koi Shinasai has quite a bit of potential to develop into an excellent story.

they have the same plot like zombie all over the town in here demon all over the world and some people fighting them...

Right when I watched the opening for the first time I thought about how similar the graphics where. Not really the same genre but, it was the first thing that came to my mind

Fan service! These two series are full of it. Ichiban Ushiro is far more comedic than Highschool of the Dead. But if you enjoyed the ridiculous, over the top boobs and panties in HSotD, the wacky ecchi humor of Ichiban Ushiro may be just right for you.
report Recommended by Sukeacrow
Both are violent series set in post apocalyptic Japan and features multiple ED songs for each episodes.
report Recommended by Kisou_Vulgar
Zombies, gore, survival and thrill, basically the same theme. While Highschool of the dead has ecchi, Seoul Station is focused on the drama side. Overall those who love zombie genre would enjoy both.
report Recommended by FunnyGames
In both these anime's there is a great deal of fighting and action, Highschool of the Dead however is more focused on an Apocalyptic attitude and zombies. When Ben-to is truly brawling over half priced boxed lunch. I also thought the animation and drawing style was similar.
report Recommended by Nikoru-san
TOKKO deals with demon creatures that can infect Humans and essentially turn the Humans into "zombie-like" beings which then a special task force has to eliminate in order to close all of the gates through which the demons enter. There is blood, gore, and a decent plot.
report Recommended by GuruMaddog
Both titles have the main protagonist fighting against supernatural creatures (Highschool of Dead has zombies while Apocalypse Zero has mutant monsters). They both have a school setting and are set in a post-apocalyptic world. They are both very action-packed filled with lots of violence, gore and nudity but light on plot. Apocalypse Zero is more superhero action oriented, is more over the top and has less fan service compare to Highschool of the Dead. If you enjoy one, you may like the other as well.
report Recommended by Hellspawn28
Both are very scary animes about a group of people that deals with strange supernatural things and at the same time tries to survive.
report Recommended by Orulyon
Although HOTD is much more violent, they have a similiar school-setting with undead, also the art is alike.
report Recommended by Sleezy
Both have high levels of violence and sex. Both are well written, acted, and directed. Both are VERY unique and really hard to compare to anything else out there. Strongly Recommended.
report Recommended by azdraon
High school kids fighting the undead and demons. If you want blood and gore, these animes will fill your appetite. There is also some similiarities between characters based upon personalities and the formation of the groups in each anime. Though High school of the dead has quite a bit of ecchi and fan service where non is found in Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho.

Titles are sexually explicit and they focus on romance between a heroine and protagonist with a few interferences. Boobs, action, and countless Crowning Moments of Awesome.

Both are violent. Both have some sexual stuff in them. Another thing that's similar to High school of the dead is a manga called Kingdom of zombie. Kingdom of zombie and Highscool of the dead both have zombies.
report Recommended by shadowhedgie
Both, to me, have the philosophical and emotional depth and substance of a streak of cat piss, and are created simply for cheap fanservice. Both can be fairly enjoyable if you like that sort of thing, though - HSOTD more so than R&V in my opinion. The fanservice in Rosario and Vampire focusses more of panty shots, while Highschool of the dead is more centred around jiggling breasts. Yeah.
report Recommended by Kilnerbanker
Both pretty super natural. But Kämpfe is more of a magic fighting anime. Highschool of the Dead is more of a IRL zombie anime. But the thing that they got both in common is that there's alot of boob grabbing and boob shots if you know what i mean. Alot of girls in both. Also the're worth watching. If you like one of those then i recemmend you check out the other one too!

Both anime have a huge amount of fear elements worked into them, and suspense is a key element. Murder is the center of the story for both shows, and each has its own style of immorality.
