Mekakucity Actors

A variety of bizarre stories unfold within a biggish city in Japan. At the center of it all is a confused young man and his endearingly annoying otherwordly sidekick. Shafting ensues. 

When I watched the first episode of Mekakucity Actors it reminded me a lot of Bakemonogatari. So I checked it out and found that they are made by the same director. They have the same design, background, and atmosphere. My personal opinion is that Bakemonogatari is better, but if you really enjoyed one you might enjoy the other.  

The biggest similarity is the unique style and the feel of the show. The plot in both is weirdly revealed. Characters also have some similarities. They're both just really bizarre in the same way. 

-both are produced by Shaft -both are SHAFTY, similar art, and close-up camera angles and other angles are used to bring out unique effects and an isolated ambiance -both are dialogue heavy -both main characters Araragi and Kisaragi look alike and have similar personalities -both are set in a city of a similar design and environment Conclusion: They are both Shafty. 

The synopsis for Mekakucity Actors would have you believe you're in for something of an action adventure superpower type anime, but after watching the first few episode's you'll feel right at home coming from Bakemonogatari. Yes. Although Mekakucity Actors is presented as an anime about kids with superpowers, you will as soon know this not to be true as you would say Bakemonogatari is about a guy who helps people that have problems with spirits, gods, and demons. Both works having been produced by SHAFT, you will have a very similar animation style that with subtly to powerfully surreal settings, creating an ideal environment for a slice of life anime. Both anime will have you follow and connect to characters on a deeper level, eventually turning even strange, distant characters into ones you will care about. read more 

Similar animation and the storytelling is subtle and is done in the same way as the monogatari series. Both series focus heavily on personalities and character development as well dialouge. 

Both have very similar art styles and both have a kind of air of mystery around them, like something's hiding in the plot line for you to try to figure out  

They're both made by shaft so they have the same camera angles and head tilts, they both also have a unique art style. If you like Bakemonogatari you'll also like this.  

A good detective, charismatic characters and memorable moments both. 

Both were animated from shaft and they both are also sharing a really nice art and animation that still holds up really well to this day and both focus around urban legends and they both have this kind of trippy and edgy kind of feel to its storytelling. 

Both animes have a unique way of story telling and art style. Also the way the characters speak and interact was similar. 

-Both are dialogue based -directed by the same person and have similar animation shenanigans -The characters have issues and are deeper than they appear to be. -Both have highly praised music -Both deal with the supernatural -Both have odd orders to enjoy the series. For monogatari, you need to watch a bunch of shows and movies which are in non chronological order, and for Mekakucity actors you need to listen to a music series known as Kagerou Project, then read a manga series called Kagerou Daze, then read a light novel series also named Kagerou Daze and then watch the anime (where you must watch until the end credits of each episode).  read more 

Consisting of a group of characters with supernatural abilities, both Durarara!! and Mekakucity Actors has the ingredients of similarities. Beyond that, there are mysteries relating to the origins of both series involving the stories. Expect decent comedy with humor and gags. Both series are also crafted with a story that intertwines the characters lives that ties into the city they reside in. I recommend both series for anyone looking for a supernatural phenomenon curtsey of strange occurrences.

Same feel with a group of people bunching up together trying to solve a city's mysteries. The narration scrambles up chronological order. Some later events are shown in the earlier episodes and viewers can only make sense of it in later episodes. 

Like Durarara!!, Mekakucity Actors is about what one could call "urban heroes"; a group of seemingly random, but fascinating characters. All these characters seem to have in common is the city they live in, but their lives intertwine in many ways! What drives these characters? What is their history? What can they DO? These people walk around the city unnoticed or very much noticed. They are local legends or idols, or no one knows who they are. Expect plot twists and surprising turns of events, because you never know what will happen next! 

You feel the same vibe with the two shows. Also, they both have multiple main/supporting characters and in each episode, the perspectives change. At first, you also get confused but in the end, everything will come together.

Both are quite complicated first - situation from 1st episode is being explained in the 3rd and Kano is similar to Kida.  

Both have mysterious characters with deep stories that are slowly reviled throughout the show. Both are sort of an coming of age story.  

Both stories feature unusual and strange mystery storylines with an eccentric cast of young adults and a dark atmosphere to them as well as a trippy and edgy artstyle and animation included. 

-Non Chronological storytelling. -Telling the story from PoV of different characters. -MC(Mikado and Shintarou) who not good at socializing. -Interesting secondary characters -The character has a secret(which is the very important point of the story) with friends.  

-Both main character has insignificant memories about a mysterious female character -Both anime include various characters 

Kiznaiver and Mekakucity Actors both have a group of teens that has something connecting them, and the groups end up working together because of it. the stories aren't too similar but the overall feel you get from the show is very much the same, the urban city areas are almost identical to each other and the individuals in the groups are similar.  

Colorful cast of characters, deep plot, similar art style. The main character also seems to have some memory of the female lead that gets realized later on. 

Mekakucity Actors and Kiznaiver both include characters who are very different and would not normally associate with each other, connected through a fantasy-esque phenomenon. The protagonists of both come off initially as quiet and weak, and the supporting cast are unique in colors and personality - some even match up similarly in roles and character. 

The art style and charcters are very simular. As are both shows need for drama. They both center around an group of people who are forced into a situation with others whom they do not know.  

Both have flashy animation and a great soundtrack with a group of friends brought together out of one commonality. Main character is defective in an obvious way and doesn't fit into society with trauma. 

Both stories focus around a ya cast with strange supernatural powers that come together to solve a big conspiracy theory and both have this edgy and trippy kind of feel to the story and also animation and art that still holds up really well to this day too. 

- Groups of teens brought together by forces out of their control that would have otherwise never been friends - Main characters that vaguely remember a girl from their past that also has connections to the groups - Unique, colorful casts of characters 

Both are colourful anime which focuses less on the execution of the plot and more on the emotions and interactions of each character. They may either seem enjoyable for some ppl or extremely weak and flawed in every way. 

Dark vibes. Characters with a shared secret/trait, every character has interesting backstories that make a whole with their connections. 

[Bear with me please: it is just a first impression, I will properly discuss the similarities and differences (or even delete it) when Mekakucity will be finished] > SIMILARITIES One-of-the-kind animes due to their original (sometime unstructured) cinematography/storytelling, which talk about supernatural things happening in current digital societies (should we call that "Digital" Science-fiction?). - Original graphic (the graphic of the layout is versatile to make sometime the character stand out and another time the in-the-moment-story stand out) - Storytelling (everyone is lost at the beginning because they don't know what is happening or don't know how to handle it (no real leader nor guide) ¦ it seems that everything will go back to normal, not thanks to the special attributes of the main characters, but rather when the social issue of the characters, and the society in general, will be addressed) - Collision between digital and real world () - Voice actors (to confirm). read more 

Both shows involve a group of people who have been given supernatural powers a chance to fight what is considered evil/bad in their world. The art styles were very similar and they gave off similar vibes to me. Gatchaman Crowds focuses more on the prevailing justice that our world needs to survive while Mekakucity Actors focuses on character relationships and personal defeat of inner demons.  

Genre wise they are both sci-fi.Both animes have an computer-program character that has sort of artifical intelligence(or idk,I can't call it a robot) .The one in Gatchaman Crowds is X that operates a networking video-game like program called "Galax," .The one in Mekakucity Actors is Takane that takes a form of a girl and also acts like a virus. Both anime involves a group of people that has some teenagers, and they have powers that no one can see. 

Both focus on a strange group of young adults with supernatural powers in a modern Japan setting and both stories have a trippy edgy feel to the tone and atmosphere of the story and both have a sci fi urban fantasy setting to it as well too.  

Both contain similarly confusing (initially) plots, filled with symbolism and abstract ideas. They both have very distinct visual identities, often going for style over realism. The main plots of each are not fully explained or revealed until the last few episodes, and they make the confusing build up worth the ride. If you want something to over-analyze, try either of these. They will certainly captivate you, confuse you, and charm you. 

Both have a similar feel in atmosphere and art. Also, the way the characters are connected by an unearthly force is present in both stories. 

You'll have to pay close attention throughout the anime to fully understand the ending. Both anime have a colorful assortment of characters with an eye-catching art style and both are overall heavily story driven.  

Both stories have a pretty surreal and unusual edgy and trippy kind of feel to them and also quite a bit of mindfucks to go with it as well too but makes more sense the closer you pay more attention to them. 

Both: - Psychological; Tragedy - Revolve around characters with supernatural powers. - Have time traveling concepts. - Involve granting wishes. - Friendships. - Non-chronological story telling. 

SHAFT series starring color-coded teenagers with superpowers who end up locked in a timeloop in which they're killed repeatedly.  

Both stories feature unusual and strange mystery storylines with an assorted cast of young adults and a dark atmosphere to them as well as a trippy and edgy artstyle and animation included. As well as being adapted by shaft. And lots of supernatural shit happening too and so much mindfucks as well lol. 

There is something very similar in the way the parallel stories of each character become more and more involved with the other as episodes unfold new information, new minor details. In both shows, you sort of end up waiting for things to come to a head between certain characters. That feeling of anticipation is very similar. 

Well Both series have surnatural powers that turn eyes to get red when used , and ayano strangly reminds me of amber .however there is more humour in mekaku but i definetly recommend to watch darker than black 

both focus on superpowered characters and their misadventures as well as a trippy art and character design as well too. 

The main characters(most of them) have special abilities having to do with their eyes such as turning invisible to specific people. The main character also starts off simple fun but nothing special until the halfway point where he's upset over something bad happening to a person he was really close to. They're also a secret group of teenagers. 

Both series have a bunch of teenagers with special power related to their eyes & work to control together to control their power & prevent anybody from misusing it. 

Both stories feature unusual and strange mystery storylines with an eccentric cast of young adults and a dark atmosphere to them as well as a trippy and edgy artstyle and animation included. And a anti social mc included. 

Both anime are beautiful, stylistic and very mysterious, giving you the story in pieces at a time. If you like a great anime with strange and varied characters, that doesn't reveal the end for you in the first five minutes, these two anime are both for you! 

Both try to tackle themes of family and friendship, yet fall flat due to incoherent writing, hollow characters, and obnoxious style. Only difference is Kyousougiga is a bit more inspired and sincere in its ineptness, whereas Mekakucity Actors comes off as pretentious. 

Both share an unusual style of art and animation and they share this edgy and trippy kind of feel to the story as well too and have alot of weird stuff happening from time to time as well too during the story but starts to fall into pieces later on. 

-They have power to save the world -deep memories -deep song - Blue,Red main character :D

Both are trippy stories with lots of weird shit happening and also really nice visuals and art too look at too. 

Both shows are entirely inspired by a vocaloid song series. Each of the main characters possess a unique type of power, and some of the characters share resembling designs and personalities in both series. Though Mekakucity Actors has a darker plot and a more twisted story, they both share similar comedy, plus the art designs are both extraordinary and colorful. 

the two have very similar both characters in the story and in personality Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku of history is a little more "light" that Mekakucity Actors more this not only makes the atmosphere more "happy" but also has scenes that even containing no deaths can if meet in Mikagura such as Akaba Yuto him and Kano are both alike lost someone important and talked about a "truth" that would be that no human could be alone ... not only is this the most Kido once told Momo the Kano would be the best leader that she Mikagura like Kano would be Yuto you realize you made a difference .... in short both Mikagura gakuen Kumikyoku as Mekakucity actors have a likeness to his enrredo and comedies of anime read more 

They both have interesting animation styles, have to do with groups based on supernatural powers and some characterization shows elements of characters in both series. 

Both these series have a complicated plot that involves interesting mysteries. Both involve superhuman powers and both art styles are remarkably beautiful. 

It has the same feel and vibe to it. 

Both have a reclusive neet as an mc and have strange supernatural occurances and conspiracy theories happening around and befriending others to help solve this strange conspiracy theory that is going around too. 

Both were based around notable vocaloid hatsune miku especially projects and both can also be pretty edgy and trippy and share a ya cast too. 

While not similar at all, both series are based on Vocaloid songs (Black Rock Shooter and the Kagerou Project) 

Mekakucity Actors and Steins;Gate present a lot of mysteries as you watch, and everything is revealed at the end. Without spoiling anything, they each use a similar plot point. 

Both have a ya cast working together to figure out the mysteries of an ongoing conspiracy theory and both have alot of wild and chaotic stuff happening during the story and a focus of course on their friendships too. 

Both share supernatural settings and were part of a bigger multimedia project and both also have a ya cast trying to figure out the events of whats going on in it as well too. 

Both are focused on a eccentric group of characters including a stay at home neet and are focused around a bunch of strange supernatural shit going around in their area as well too.  

both are supernatural based stories focused on lone wolf characters and lots of trippy shit happening as well too. 

Similar idea with "terrorists with interesting twists and a good flowing plot that evolves fluidly throughout the show 

Both have a hikkimori neet as the main character getting involved in some very strange supernatural events with a group of other characters also connected to it and share strange supernatural powers and also both have a dark trippy surreal sci fi fantasy setting to it as well too.  

both have some trippy storytelling it as well as music influences to the storytelling as well and also lots of nice art and visuals too.

They both share a very similar story, in both series a group of people with supernatural abilities are brought together. The characters in both series try to find out how and why they got these abilities. 

Both stories aside from being adapted by shaft, feature unusual and strange mystery storylines with an eccentric cast of teenagers and a dark atmosphere to them. 

both have a ya cast as well as the strange circumstances they are in as well as alot of colorful personalties and stylish visuals and art to look at as well too.
