While significantly different in genre and setting (Darling in the Franxx is Action/Mecha while Mekakucity Actors is surreal Urban Fantasy), the shows provide, at times, remarkably similar experiences.
The shows share two of their primary draws -- a compelling atmosphere of mystery and a well-developed, relatable cast.
Both casts are quite large and consist primarily of teenagers with complex interpersonal relationships between them.
