-In Mahouka, there's a certain character who goes ''ONII-SAMA ONII-SAMA'' . Bro & sis-con complex. 
-Mahouka Koukou No Rettousei takes place in a sci-fi world while Overlord takes place in a fantasy world
-Overlord is more gory & darker than Mahouka Koukou No Rettousei

Strike the Blood addpermalink

These two anime both feature a futuristic world which is filled with magic and magic-related elements. Strike the Blood goes a bit further by also adding in some supernatural elements. They both contain action and romance, but Strike the Blood also adds in some ecchi and comedy.

Both anime also feature annoying, yet skillful female main characters. You have Miyuki from Mahouka who calls her brother Tatsuya by "Onii-sama" about a hundred times per episode and Yukina from Strike the Blood who insists on interrupting Kojou's catchphrase "This is my fight" with her infamous "No Senpai, this is OUR fight."

Both main characters grow up having a tough child hood, which later in life makes them have a laid back/ calm attitude to stay out of trouble not to mention that both main characters are very intelligent. Both come off as being weak but are Very skilled in the art of fighting style/power. Also the story's include female characters that help out main protagonist in the story. Overall fighting a much bigger evil as the story progresses. Both deal with Magic/supernatural

Badass main character who's can be a prideful prick? Check.
Modern and Good Art? Check.
Action-packed fighting by main character who is a legend, but also "flawed"? Check.
Both MKnRand QZGS are fantasy/magic type animes that don't try to reinvent the wheel, but still remains refreshing and intriguing. While they are sort of directed to different audiences, both elicit either a love/hate response. The side characters are surprisingly memorable and different too. QZGS's beauty is the character development and unique stories while MKnR is all about "imperfection" not being an excuse for being OP, hence the huge class divider.
 
Bonus: Both have great OP/EDs too!
BonusBonus/Sidenote: I'm not sure if this is unique, or a pro/con but McD's surely milked the opportunity to advertise on QZGS. Also, QZGS has a unique, but fairly balanced mix of CGI/3D/normal animation.

Both anime feature an overpowered main character who tries to live a normal life in high school.

Both main characters' attitudes and personalities are similar as they are straightforward and do not flinch at talking with girls. They also share a similar backstory related to the military and being a soldier.

Both main characters are considered to be "worse" in the eyes of other standings due to their standing/background/lineage, despite their overwhelming strength.

Both anime have a more "science"-y background explanation for the magic used.

 The main protagonists - Tatsuya and Sagara are both "abnormal" teenagers who are trying to fit in with normal highschool life ... while protecting a girl in the same grade.

While both shows are very different in terms of story, genres, and setting, the core plot remains the same. Both shows have a protagonist that is viewed upon by most people around them based solely on their social status that was given to them under a sort of ranking system like a review board; which was created with several inadequate fatal flaws that fail to categorize them properly. And yet, everyone blindly accepts that review board as if it was the only one truth, not unlike how many see the Holy Bible; while refusing to see past those previously mentioned flaws and only seeing what they choose to see, hearing only what they want to hear. In the end, while the protagonists have a handful of close people who understand them, the rest of the world do not give them the recognition they deserve, instead looking at them only with scorn, loathing, distrust rooted in the jealousy, and prejudice of their own narrow beliefs. The protagonists however are content with the way things are, being the better man to not let the misguided hate get to them that would utterly crush anyone else under the weight...while continuing their heroic acts with their superior skills, often without the anyone knowing their real name.  read more

Even though one is magic based and the other is mech based, both have quiet/blunt, genius level main characters who can pretty much make no mistakes. Why they have so much knowledge or why they are so proficient compared to everyone else doesn't matter.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch addpermalink

Lelouch is one of the better analogues you'll find to Tatsuya and though he isn't nearly as GODMODE he benefits from being in a vastly superior story and better animated show than poor Tatsuya.

While there isn't an imouto character in Geass of anywhere near the same quality as Miyuki there is plenty of potential romances and one sided love affairs to go around in Geass' great cast.

Potential turn off = mecha. Otherwise enjoy a great show.

In both anime, the MC is way overpowered. Obviously, Mahouka has a completely different style of magic, since it is staged in the 22nd century, while Smartphone was staged in a parallel world in the medieval era. however both are in many ways similar. Mainly in the MC's character.

The MC has very similar magic activiation sequences to the way Tastuya operates. Similar levels of OP. Magic centered anime, though Densetsu no Yuusha is more fantasy based setting (demons & heros) vs. the Irregular.

- Protagonist goes to highschool and is disregarded by the students with a higher social standing
- Proceeds to completely WRECK everyone at his highschool and knock out competition
- Proves himself to everyone and has a loyal group of friends
- Protagonist is very capable and likable
- Entertaining to see the protagonist come up with new inventions

Cid and Tatsuya are overpowered protagonists that hide their secret identities and talent while attending school. Outwardly acting like an average, low-achieving student as a cover for their other identities. In reality, Cid is a true edgelord, and this series lets the audience in on the joke to make the most of it. Tatsuya, on the other hand, is a stoic and analytical soldier able to use magic for mass killing and large-scale destruction. Consider this recommendation for more overpowered characters with magic powers.

Magic academy, harem themes, electronic pop playing in the background, OP main character. Every girl falls in love and tries to get attention of the MC. Nice school uniforms and magical symbols too. A lot of dialogues and slow pacing culminating in powerful battles, especially in Taimadou Gakuen.
