Glass no Kamen (2005)

Both anime's are about the acting industry with a powerful elusive male helping to push them to their dream. Skip Beat has more comedy while Glass Mask is more dramatic, but the story line of them trying to reach for the top and their natural talent is very similiar. If you love one, you'll probably love the other.  

They both are focused around becoming famous actresses- and for the most part have similar motives for wanting to act. 1) they want to prove someone wrong and 2) because they find a passion for it. The actresses also have a 'relationship' for an older man, which in both cases the male character has conflicting emotions about how he should go about their 'relationship'. Although Glass mask is more on the dramatic theatrics where as Skip Beat! is more of a comical anime, if you like one of them, you are sure to like the other. :) 

Both are about two great actors and later falls in love with one of their mentors. Maya in glass mask is a genius at acting while Kyoko from skip beat has some hidden/unknown ability to act. Ren from Skip beat and Masumi from glass mask resembles each other too xD. Glask mask is more dramatic while skip beat has more comedy. 

Both female protagonists, Kyoko from Skip Beat and Maya from Glass Mask are both very similar, since they both have an extraordinary talent in acting. The male characters within the animes, Ren from Skip Beat and Masumi from Glass Mask are also similar, since they have a great influence on the female protagonists. However, I think that Glass Mask has more drama in it, whereas Skip Beat has more comedy and both do have elements of romance in them. If i were to choose which one was the best... Skip Beat is the winner all the way ^^ 

Both are about act. 

Glass Mask is about a young 13-year-old girl, Maya Kitajima, who has no specific talent for anything--except acting. Once she is discovered by an old, famous actress, she is taken under her wing and trained into an amazingly talented, award-winning actress, all the while striving to beat out her rival, acting prodigy Ayumi Himekawa, for the role that made her mentor famous: the Scarlet Angel in "The Scarlet Angel". While Glass Mask is more stage acting oriented, there are certain times where they go into acting for TV shows and movies like Kyoko does in Skip Beat. Glass Mask has a lot more drama than Skip Beat and isn't as funny, but it has about the same amount of romance, if not more, than Skip Beat does. Glass Mask is my favorite anime of all time, to be honest, and is much, much better than Skip Beat. So, if you loved Skip Beat, I STRONGLY suggest you watch the anime that is based off of a manga that was the #1 bestselling shoujo manga in Japan for 30 years (it's #2 now, but yeah--and yes, it's an old series, but it still isn't complete yet!). both girls strive to learn and survive in the world of acting. both showing amazing amounts of talents, and along the way, find love....(in the manga that is...) 

Both about acting, both about Girls whose dream is to be the greatest but it doesn't mean they're too similar! They're indeed different and alike at the same time anyways, if you enjoyed one - you're definitely going to enjoy the other! 

In both series, there is a girl who is pursuing for a career in the entertainment industry (although for different reasons). Along the way, they encounter struggles but pushes themselves to overcome any challenges they face. Additionally, they are determined to try out new ideas for their careers. There is passion in both series with a sense of drama. Skip Beat! contains more comedy though while Glass no Kamen/Glass Mask contains more drama. The main male protagonists also plays their roles that influences the girl's decisions and career at several occasions. Additionally, there is added element of romance present that develops on and off. 

The main girl tries to become an actress, and everybody is surprised at her level of skill for such a low level of experience. Ren and Hayami are similar characters, being the older guy who likes to tease the main girl, but is actually in love with her. However, they restrain themselves because of the age difference and also partly because of their position. The main girl starts off hating them, but as she gets to know them better she respects them and looks to them as a mentor. 

Both of these titles are about acting and both are in the shoujo and romance genres. The main characters are somewhat alike with their serious and surprising ways of acting. Glass mask tends to be more serious, though. 

Both the animes have main leads trying to make it big in acting. Both have Daddy Long Legs kind of love interest. Though Skip Beat is more comic, Glass no Kamen keeps itself mostly serious. 

The story follows a young girl who wants to make it in show business, and she finds herself in love along the way. 

Both series revolve around a girl entering the world of show business and acting, detailing both the struggles and rewards they experience on their journeys. Romance plays its part in both, but it is perfectly balanced with the other components of the show, so it's never overpowering nor neglected. Both main characters are strong, determined and likeable females with a lot of spirit and ambition and their journeys of the ups and downs of working and sacrificing for your dreams are extremely relatable and inspiring. If you liked one, I would be very surprised if you didn't enjoy the other. 

Both anime are shoujo anime about girls struggling throughout their careers in the movie/play industry (ig that what it called). Glass no Kamen is more serious than Skip Beat and does not have the weird-ish sense of humor, but in my opinion it is one of the best shoujo anime I have watched. Both of the mangas are still unfinished, but both are still worth reading. 

To reach one's dream, one's goal. Many obstacles stand in their way, but they forever push on. Kaleido Star is an ever optimistic series, whose clear message is to keep trying and aim for their dreams. Sugary and upbeat, little kids will love it, but it's not too much that older people can't watch it. Glass Mask (2005) is an adaptation of a famous (at least in Asia) 70's manga, set to a more modern setting. Less upbeat, and much more dramatic than Kaleido Star, but it's the same "reaching for their goal" genre. Probably appeal to more older fans, but most people will enjoy both.  read more 

Both of these girls are willing to follow their dreams through any obstacle! 

Both are good animes with solid drama, adventures of 2 girls who tried their best to fulfill their dreams, sharing their tough and happy times. Both girls found not only their dreams but also their precious friendships, and a bit of romance. Although they belong to shoujo in genre, it's recommended to all audience. 

We watch our main characters (Sora and Maya) start their journey into entertainment. For Sora, it's the circus-like Kaleido Stage. For Maya, it's taking the theater and acting world by storm. Watching Glass Mask immediately invoked Kaleido Star for me, which I had watched years ago. Both series follow a similar structure - moving from play to play in Glass Mask, and from stage to stage in Kaleido Star, with lots of character drama and personal growth in between. Both series are from the early/mid-2000s and invoke the same nostalgic feelings I have for the era. They also have similar running-lengths that are hard to find nowadys where everything is split into cours. I highly recommend both of these shows! read more 

The concept of a dream and hoping to make themselves a superstar in the entertainment industry is a prominent theme in both Glass no Kamen (Glass Mask) and Kaleido Star. Throughout both series, both main female protagonists strives to make their dream a reality. It's not easy and they face obstacles, rivals, and competitions. There is a sense of beauty present in both series that is artistic in the way their performances are done. There is also solid drama in both series that often involves competing to be the best.  

Both animes are about a girl who wants to accomplish he ultimate performance. In glass mask the main character grow as an actor under the guide of an former actress to accomplish and become the crimson goddess, while in Kaleido star the main character has guide from the spirit of the stage to perform the legendary stunt the Angel's Maneuver. Both main characters has challenges and a friend they compete with and support. 

Because of the similar premise and overall feeling. I watched Kaleido Star first and always thought that Glass Mask was like KS, but with acting instead of acrobatics. The stories of Kaleido Star and Glass Mask feature a female protagonist chasing their dream of being on the big stage in the entertainment world. Though they soon find out that becoming a performer brings many challenges and hardships that talent and hard work alone can't easily overcome. Both KS and GM are slice of life/work life dramas, that share familiar themes and other elements such as comedy, conflicts, friendships, rivalries, and more; making both shows feel very similar to one another. *It's a bonus if you fancy the older shows (pre-2010)* read more 

In the same way, the main characters kind of stumble into their dream--that THING that they're actually good at and can devote themselves too. They start at the bottom, each finding a rival who is far above their reach and fighting until they're on equal ground with that person. A boy, a ghost, and the world of Go. 

They're both similiar with how both of the main characters have a rival and mentor; although they have different interests, their passion for what they love doing is so great and immense that it'll almost automatically capture a person's interest after one or two episodes. They're both addicting and very good; Glass Mask and Hikaru no Go will both have you wanting more, even after you finish watching these two series, along with their sequels of course. 

These two show have a very similar feeling about them. Both are about rising young stars. Both have that perfect rival who are actually good at what they do, and aren't some overly confident brats. I'd say, if you like one, you will definitely love the other. Glass mask has some romance to go with it. ❤ 

Both MC's start at the bottom of the industry, and garner interest from someone of the same age at the top of the industry who considers them their "one true rival". Both characters rapidly improve over the series. They also have similar animation and production value, and both are very bingable series.  

The stories of the two lead characters (Nodame and Maya) have a great deal in common. Though Glass Mask is not comedic, like Nodame Cantabile, they both feature female protagonists who exist somewhat outside of their artistic communities. Both are phenomenal raw talents who struggle to find their niche amongst those who may be more technically skilled in their respective fields, but who often lack their same level of emotional committment. The romance stories in the two series are handled differently, but similarly at the same time. Instead of pairing these characters up with their respective partners immediately, and then facing numerous obstacles all together, these romances develop slowly and subtly. Even the smallest of moments between the various couples can make your chest clench. Anyone who has enjoyed one of these series will definitely enjoy the other as well. read more 

A girl. A young girl with a talent tries to fulfill a dream in both series. They practice and work to perfect their skills. At the same time, they go through emotional moments but also finds peace and enjoy on many occasions. They also meet an individual who is there for her when time calls. There are those moments present in both series that captures the moments of the realism involving the field of becoming a star. Whether they shine or not, the main protagonist from both series strive to improve their skills. There is passion in their works that is expressed through their actions and from the fruits of their efforts. Additionally, there is some romance, comedy, and a lot of drama in their field of industry. read more 

Starting off light and becoming more serious later, these two are really good stories about pursuing show biz and your dreams. They both have sweet romance, talented female leads, some humour and great stories . . . watch these two! 

Both talks about a female protagonist being supported by many people around them, they both include some kind of way to making it to the top, both are highly emotional though i found full moon wo sagashite closer to the sad side.  

Both series focus on young women learning to express themselves through theatre. Kageki Shoujo is more of an ensemble whereas Glass Mask focuses tightly on the rivals Maya and Ayumi. 

The lead girls in both anime passionately want to act and are studying acting. 

Both share the stylistic attributes of sports anime with competitions and battles on the floor/stage. Maya and Fujita start off not really knowing where their future is headed and then they discover something which they both throw themselves into wholeheartedly, pushing themselves to the limit. Fujita and Maya have both done crazy things and push themselves, and have been described as scary/different but intriguing by onlookers and having an instinct for their craft but lacking technical abilities. The rival dynamic is also similar with Hyoudo/Ayumi being way above Fujita/May but they fight and gain the other's respect. The interpersonal relationships in BeY is fantastic as well with the cast being fleshed out with backstorys that work to accentuate rather than detract from the dance plot. both glass mask and haikara-san are a remake of older anime, adapted with more beautiful animation, but staying true to the touching writing of the original manga. both are romantic stories that follow an independent feisty girl who just can't get that one annoying guy out of her head, even though she doesn't like him (sure you don't, girl) from episode 25 in glass mask, it shows a story called 'heavenly light'. this story in particular shows a lot of aspects that are similar to haikara-san, it both being about young women with strong personalities during the taishou period. 

Each anime features a young female MC dealing with a difficult home environment who then finds themselves helped by a mysterious benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous.  

I somehow felt the same atmosphere in both animes. Also the main characters have the same determination to reach their goals so these are quite similar.
