This series is about military strategy with a strategic lead and a warrior best friend. Alderamin was closer to Code Geass R1 than Geass R2 was

Both series has a strong female lead and capable male lead that although the male lead lack in strength, they make up their lack of strength with intellect and charisma. The two does share a lot of similarities. If you like one, you are definitely bound to like the other.

Both have OP themes by the Akeboshi Rockets and go for a similar, sleek visual style. If you're a fan of fantasy settings with a focus on military engagements, tactics and an ensemble cast of both male and female roles, both of these shows give you plenty.

Both series have a smart male MC, and heavily focus on strategic magical warfare. If you enjoy somewhat realistic magical battles, where strategy is more important than numbers or individual magic powers, then you will enjoy these series.

The protagonist is really intelligent like Ikta and their personnality is also really close on a lot of points. And Yatorishino can be compared with Iris a woman really powerful with special relation with the protagonist. She used a sword. The scene take place in medival period during war time.

Protagonist is a genius leader who finds ingenius ways to win hopeless battles.

Alderamin is a far superior attempt at the show that "Genius Prince" tries to be.

Medieval, with a lazy guy who is good strategist.

Ikta Solork, the protagonist of Alderamin is VERY similar in personality and behavior to Yang Wen-Li of Legend of Galactic Heroes. Both are lazy geniuses who never wanted to be part of military and who also think outside the box, lack any sort of social tact, indulge in vices and present a political viewpoint that has become controversial in their nations. Both Shows are war-dramas with future-narrator chronicling lives of people destined to play a major role in their nations history.

Both shows are set in a steampunk world, where the main weapons being used are swords, rifles and canons in both. Both anime feature a fair amount of blood and gore within the battle scenes, and the colour toning and mood feels similar (the use of oranges and sunset colours). Both shows like to go into detail about the strategies used in some of the battles and spends a lot of time on them. Both also feature a short 'training arc' and then goes straight into the action on the front lines. Both shows also have a 'sister-type' figure who is very strong and skilled  read more

Similar fantasy setting anime with even similar plot development. Even the characters are similar and also how they think from battle strategy to there morals. Both anime's are solid and progress through the story.

-Both feature a military setting, and flesh out both the country we come to know as well as the one we're fighting about through tidbits of information -Both are about a strategist who attempts to keep the members of their squad alive, and oftentimes are unable to through the show's realistic depiction of the brutality of war -Both see the protagonists able to command respect through both their talent and extreme earnesty

Both MC are tactical geniuses, and heavily focus on controlling the battle whether it is psychological warfare or just normal war.

Similarity: Both have their war genius, and like Yang Wen-li, Sokta hate war. Questioning the war itself. Starting as a low ranking officer both have to obey the dubious orders from their commanders.

Both are stylistically, thematically, and topically very similar. Both anime use nearly identical art designs and palettes. For example, both use the same, historical old-fashioned, font. Artwork is very similar, and scenes are set in similar backdrops. Both shows are heavily centered around traditional military strategy (for war), and both feature a genius strategist who is a master of war. Both geniuses show more than they tell, consistently proving (through actual battles) their intelligence, creativity, and forethought. Obviously, the main difference between war in these shows is context. While Arslan features a young prince leading a real revolution against warring nations, Alderamin is set in  read more

Setting of both shows is pretty similar: World in a time around post industrial era (though with a difference being, Rokudenashi is set in a world where magic exists) Main protagonists have two sides to them (on one hand they are just and caring, on the other they can be calculating and pragmatic) There are some instances of world building, though there is fewer of them in Rokudenashi) As for art style and theme of the show, Rokudenashi is more goofy one, there are numerous humorous scenes. Nejimaki is the better of the two but Rokudenashi is quite similar so I would recommend it (but be warned, the last episode  read more

War anime centered around strategy and tactics.

Different genre but both feature a lazy and laid-back MC who are secretly a genius.

Despite what people think, Kirito, Asuna, and the others did rely on team work like the main crew of characters in Alderamin. Both main characters seem to be good at assessing their situation and acting accordingly. The majority of the time, their plans come through.

This story has 2 main characters heavily relying on eachother, and the romance what I missed from Nejimaki Seirei Senki is present in Grancrest senki, so if you missed this element too, this show is worth the watch as it is full of strategy and politics just like Nejimaki

cruelty of war, awesome tactics on how to get a upper hand in war, ways to win your enemy's trust - all are pretty nicely presented in the two animez. to be honest, these two are literally gems in the war genre. [P.S. if you liked the character solark of alderamin, then you'll be fascinated by the characterization of askeladd - that i can ensure you]

The main characters of both series use their brilliant minds and tactics to outwit opponents and winning battles against the odds. They will come up with tactics and predict the next move of opponents, turning the tides of the battle.

Negimaki is about a soldier that wants to live idly in peace, while having to fight in a war with his comrades; whereas Pumpkin Scissors is about a group of soldiers that are at the end of a war, and they're trying to make the lives of the citizens waiting to see peace manifested in their daily lives visible.

Main Character doesn't want to be a soldier but ends up rising through the ranks of the military. Main character uses unconventional tactics to outwit superior forces. Main character's motives for fighting are forced by women in their lives. Main character is initially an outcast. Both series portray war in a brutal gritty fashion.

-Very similar protagonists, at least personality-wise -Animated by the same studio with the same type of action -Both take place in similar time periods -Both have a bigger female cast than male cast -Both deal with hierarchies (Kings, Queens, Princes, etc.)

They both propose the same plot. Two lazy individuals who somehow get mixed up with military duties and becoming the "leader" of their squad. More than enough action in the both of them and the style of fighting typically endures warfare and tactics only the "leaders" can think of. Easily two of my favorite animes to date.
report Recommended by xCodaro
Similar situation where MC is genius at tactics but doesn't necessarily want accolades that are awarded. They both deal with MC who is not physically suited to battle but intellectually superior to all opponents. Also cares greatly for human life. Heavy object has more of the humorous and ecchi moments we all love.

Same creator for the original series. Both have are magical battle focused with a more serious and darker tone to it.

Both are adventures in a kind of historical setting with some fantasy elements. In both anime a group of people has to fight in strategic war-battles. Both have great male and strong female characters, with fun to watch relationships.

Both male protagonists are very similar -Both are very distinct, different, and unconventional from any other character around them. -Both are quite weak physically, but rely on intelligence, deception and trickery to defeat their opponents. Both are extremely smart, and are among the strongest fighters due to their smarts. -Both main male characters pride themselves on being different, and use methods and techniques that others around them would consider childish, underhanded, and/or disrespectful. Difference is Rokka no Yuusha is set in a story of individuals who engage in 1-on-1 combat, while Alderamin is set in a traditional military setting featuring larger battles as well as traditional hand to hand  read more

1-The main character Ikuta san and Hachiman san - both play the bad guy role while resolving problems. - Thinking the same way. - Look at people and every thing around very well before moving. But at the same time they look very reckless. - Lazy. - they look negative but they are positive actually. And they do not know that. - like people and want to save them when no one think they will. - If you know them well you will like them and want to help them. - popular and loved, I do not really know if they know that but I guess they figure it out later. - They are  read more
