The storyline and characters are unique and interesting for both series. They also contain exceptional romance where the lovers are on the run from powerful forces in the society, and they have to struggle with their choices along the way.

They are very similar. The character design and animation are similar, and both stories involve different groups taking advantage of one other to achieve some spiritual goal. In both stories, the chosen ones can use supernatural powers to save/destroy the planet, and in the end it's love and peace that win. In other words, they are stereotypically the same.

...then you might like Tekkon Kinkreet add

Even though the stories are entirely different, one about saving a baby and the other about saving a town, in the end the ones who are truly saved are the main characters that fought to protect what's important to them. Tekkon Kinkreet is just as heart-warming as Tokyo Godfathers.

...then you might like The Sky Crawlers add

Even though Memories are divided into three parts, if you like the heavy atmosphere and slow enfolding plot of The Sky Crawlers, I think you'll like at least the first and third stories of Memories. Both shows explore the meaning of existence and identity, even though The Sky Crawlers is a more depressing overall and Memories is more psychological. I would say the first story in Memories about a woman's unflinching grip over the past and her love is similar to the girl in The Sky Crawlers, but the other stories in Memories are definitely worth watching too.
