Both have a Vampire as the main female protagonist. Both have the main protagonists get a "Vampire's Kiss" at least once every story. Both have a Witch as one of the main characters. Differences: The male protagonist in GnCD is only partially Human whereas in R2V he's 100% Human. GnCD is a light novel whereas R2V is a manga.

The protagonists in both story were adopted and raised by a powerful woman; they then travel around the world with their foster parent and learn a lot about myths, legends, mythical and supernatural creatures. Both protagonists are smart, have good deduction skill and act cool.
