Similarities : -Both have a lazy protagonist -Both have a cheerful , energetic heroine -Both of them revolve around a club -The characters are really interesting

They both center around a group of 5 high school students, both having 3 women and 2 men that were thrust into a newly created club (or in haruhi's case a brigade) and then face a multitude of supernatural events. The difference in the supernatural events in these stories is what the catalysts of these events are, and how they handle them. While the general feel of the two series of novels is considerably different - Haruhi is comparatively more light-hearted and has a considerable comedic element to it whereas Hakomari is more of a dark mystery thriller kind of story - there are a few similarities that are worth noting. A girl is inspired to follow her dreams by a mysterious boy ,whose identity she does not know. While in the high school she meets the same boy who changed her life and forcefully make him joining her club. These stories are two sides of the same coin, one with paranormal and comedy, the other with slice of life.

-A lot of dialogue and banter -"normal" protagonist surrounded by supernatural phenomena -high school setting -similar genres (comedy, drama, some romance, etc) -Likable main characters

In both series, the protagonist is forced to join an extraordinary club. Protogonist in both stories is a Tsukkomi type, which helps to create humor in the story.
