Both have incredible comical aspects to the stories as well as a slight incorporation of drama. Additionally, they're both based during the main actresses' high school days. And, well, the main protagonists cross-dress, and are admired by main male students. Really, both stories have similar plots except Hana-Kimi is driven with one major goal while Ouran continues many episodes of stories that seem to not lead to a major plot ending as of yet, at least. Both are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the comedy and just overall amazingness of each story.

Both series has a boy club that admits a girl that acts like a boy. All the boys are insanely rich while the girl is middle class. The leader of the club has a big crush on the girl, but they don't want to admit it.

A realistic, snarky girl is thrust into the world of an over-the-top club of boys in her school. These are lighthearted shoujo series that are similar in both premise and sense of humor and fun.
reportRecommended by Anomalous
Similar sort of humour, and both have strong female leads. Both are very enjoyable too.
reportRecommended by st_owly
Special A is similar to Ouran because of the similar situations. Hikari (Special A) is a poor student attending a rich private academy who worked her way up to become second in her school. Haruhi (Ouran) is also a poor student on scholarship attending a rich private academy. Both girls seem to be oblivious to the potential love interests around them.

Reverse-harem shoujo parodies in absolutely no hurry to pair anyone off.

- Both are reverse harem shoujos and pretty funny - The art is beautiful - The guy they end up with is a very nice gentleman But to be honest, Ouran is better :P
reportRecommended by isahbellah
Haruhi Fujioka and Tsukushi Makino are both poor girls at elite schools. They both aren't the type of people who "center" around the most popular guy [Tamaki and Tsukasa]. And they are both high school stories.
reportRecommended by Melancholy42
Both stories follow a main female character, baffled by the Host Club that is held at their school, and ended up in situations where they are stuck working for the Host Club. Romance and humor surround both stories and involve an obnoxious and vain male lead. Both are wonderful reads, if you love Ouran High School Host Club, you will enjoy Kiss Me Host-Gumi.
reportRecommended by mello_chama
Both series are mostly-friendship-based reverse harem shoujo series catalyzed by an important and series-enduring secretive element that provides as much drama as humour for the series. As both progress, the potential for drama and tears becomes clearer the more the reader gets to know about the characters' families. Some romance, some cuteness, and it turns out the series may be more similar than they seem at first glance!
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
In both stories, the female character is oblivious to matters of love while the male character (who falls head over heels for her) suffers due to her density. Both are refreshing reads about an innocent play of young love.
reportRecommended by hinahinaxxchoco
Both mangas deal with a girl surrounded at school by beautiful boys she can't get rid of. Though the plots are different the characters and humor are very similar.
reportRecommended by Mizilla
Both female leads dressed as males by force. They encounter many handsome male characters who will fall in love with her. One in a school's host club the other in the showbiz world.
reportRecommended by sabgian
If you like the whole one girl surrounded by many many possible guys, ouran is probably the next best choice in mind.

Tomboyish crossdressing girl gets roped into a school club due to a debt, is surrounded by bishounen.
reportRecommended by abystoma2
Both stories start with girls very focused on their studies, and then, meet some strange and bizarre group.
reportRecommended by Itze
Both are romantic comedies (even though Ouran has a much slower romatic development) that involve a girl joining a club with no other girls but only guys. They're both worth reading and if you liked one you should try the other.
reportRecommended by isarf
There's a host club in both mangas. The girl is in debt with the host club and had to worked for them. Not much similar plots though. Bloodhound focused more on vampire and mystery while Ouran is a comedy, school type manga.
reportRecommended by vampaireee
Light on romance and drama, heavy on slapstick and gag comedy. Lots of cross-dressing and general flippancy to gender roles. Both leads more or less have a reverse harem of hot guys. Themes of loneliness and finding friends who accept you. Everyone is a complete and utter dork
reportRecommended by mint_
The main male characters are actually incredibly similar in that they often mask what they are feeling and feel like they are being selfish. This only applies for the manga version of ouran though since the anime doesn't reveal all the detail's about Tamaki.

They both have strong female leads and they both center around a school club, in Ouran High School Host Club they are of course in the host club while in in Koi Dano ai Dano they are in the newspaper club. Both have the prince type main guy who is likeable and a cold logical smart megane girl who is indifferent to or clueless of his affection. Actually the female lead of Koi Dano is a bit like a female version of Kyoya ( the megane character from Ouran ) in that she is smart, logical and a behind  read more

Both are reverse harems revolving around a girl who crossdresses as a boy (In the case of the Hotel, it's only for the chapters so far) Both have similar main characters and situations - Haruhi and Kaori are middle-lower class students forced to work for a group of bishies whose job is to entertain women (host club/hotel) :)
reportRecommended by Acidic
Both show the lives of the upper class. The two stories start in very different directions, but if you're just in the mood for some high school slice of life with some memorable characters and funny moments that grow on you as the series goes on, I think both series do this extremely well. One is a shonen, the other is a shojo, but I think they both kind of subvert what you'd come to expect from those types of manga.

I can certainly see similarities between both of these, so I reckon it would be likely for fans of one to like the other. Here's why ~ Both Ouran and Otomen spend a lot of time poking fun at common shoujo clichés and tropes whilst also utilising them to their potential bests, making for a funny, fluffy and usually light-hearted read. They also both like to place a lot of focus on questioning and parodying gender stereotypes. Haruhi is a girl who doesn't very much care about anyone's gender - not even her own - and whilst Asuka certainly cares about being as masculine as possible,  read more

Remove Haruhi and Mori, remove the extreme rich school setting and make them all "commoners" and you´ll have Kimi to Boku. Just imagine Ouran without the boys being hosts but instead, Childhood friends, and with a more slow pacing. Replace Ouran´s comedy with slice of life. You´ll get a cheerful mixed blood blonde, a serious intelligent megane, funny twins, and a fluffy boy that likes cute things living their daily lives in extreme fun. Also, although both center in friendship, both have a love triangle.

Both stories are about a girl joining a weird club that contains a small group of crazy cute guys.

The two main characters of Zenbu Kimi no Mono are similar in personality (and also in position with him being the wealthy son of the head of the school and she being a commoner) to Tamaki and Haruhi.

Well, if you love ouran and the female lead in it, you will definitely love uruwashi no tsuki cause the one in it gives really strong Haruhi vibes... And the male lead also kinda have similar feeling but not exactly.. Both manga are really enjoyable and cute...

It's boths a gender bender anime, where the both girls have to hide their gender in school for some purpose that is not theirs and kind off against their own will at the start.

Reverse harems, anyone? Me and My Brothers is a bit less romance centric, in that the girl is their step sister, but it is var var cute and pokes fun at all the male sterotypes like Ouran tends to. It has chara like Tamaki, Mori, Kyouya, and one similar to Hikaru. If you enjoyed Ouran, please give Me and My Brothers a try!

What drew my attention to Kanojo ga Cafe ni Kayou Wake at first was how similar the situation was to Ouran High School Host Club, in which I've already started reading awhile ago. Both feature the main female protagonist being mistaken as boy who gets roped in to serving people after an unfortunate accident. Although, both manga plays on the ironic situation the main character is in, Great Waiters is more mellow than Host Club which seems mostly comedic. Haruhi (Host Club) is forced to work as an host club member after braking a vase worth 8 million yen. Eisei (Great Waiters) is employed at  read more

Both the manga's are hilarious and in both romance develops gradually, the male leads(Tamaki and Takane) are both rich and their expressions are priceless, they both have their own circumstances going on and they both go on about commoner this and commoner that. even though Ouran High has a bunch of other characters for it to be very hilarious, in Takane to Hana, Takane alone manages to bring out all the hilariousness of the manga, of course it is also supported by Hana's sarcastic comebacks(they are the best), In Ouran High Haruhi is blunt but even though Hana is normal she always makes sarcastic comments  read more

Although Kaze Hikaru is longer and isn't complete yet, the way that Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club acts is just like him! (except from the 'oni' thing) As the series goes on you'll also notice a very, very similar point in their personalities! No spoilers here but if you liked one, you'll definetely like the other for the TAMAKI-NESS/SOUJI-NESS!

Even though, the genre is quite different, both manga involves school clubs (council in the Clamp Gakuen) and bishounens, who encounters different situations (mostly comedy).

If you liked Ouran High School Host Club then try Eden no Trill, its a shoujo mangaby the mangaka of Platinium Garden, that is newer in translation but there are a lot of similarities. The male characters really remind me of the other series ( at least in looks ) and the fact that they are rich and in a special domitory with upscale features. Both male leads play the piano and are gifted and talented but also do whatever they want. The girl is pressured into a bargain at the school.  read more

I don't know why no one else recommends this because Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume and Ouran High School Host Club are so similar! - First off, both are reverse harem with tons of handsome guys :) - The protagonists, Haruhi and Uru both have this bright and optimistic aura that seems to draw out smiles and happiness in other characters (and myself). - Both protagonists are also very dense/oblivious when it comes to love and such so it's really adorable to see the relationships between them and other characters. - Both mangas are HILARIOUS! I'm not kidding you D:

they both take place in a school for rich people and of course lots of bishonen!! only S.L.H is slightly more mysterious than ouran but both really good and also both reverse harem!! :D

It has a similar feeling. Both girls enter a (mmm..? "extravagant"?) club unwillingly, the members personalities are similar too, especially Tamaki/Hwang-Jae their extreme reactions are so similar and both are the clubs' presidents.

They have a heroine who enrolls in a new school where everyone is different from themselves. They get a lot of new friends, and there is a lot of comedy involved. The romance is sweet in both mangas, with very sweet kiss scenes too~

Both series are about low ranking girls in rich kid schools who are pursuing/being pursued by a princely character. They are both surrounded by eccentric club members with interesting quirks, and the characters must try and figure out what they want to do with their lives and find their place. Both series also have reverse harem elements. However, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross has more drama and romance than comedy, while Ouran starts off as an episodic comedy before going into the romance and family drama in the second half of the series.
reportRecommended by CourtRoseFaerie
It is very similar because the main lead gives Tamaki vibes he is very outgoing and expressive. The school she attends is very similar to Ouran academy. It is because it is an elite, private school for rich people. Even the main characters from Ouran (Haruhi) and The Prince's Romance Gambit (Yoshida) were considered as commoners. The people who go each of their schools are extremely wealthy people.

it's like this: while in Ouran there is one poor girl who is mistaken as a boy and is surrounded by rich guys, in Kuragehime you have a rich boy who wears female cloths and ends surrounded by a bunch of poor girls. both r funny stories totally recommended :)

Haruhi and Tsubasa look like each other because : Tsubasa is a boy that takes the place of for a female idol Yui Hoshino because she is in trouble And Haruhi is become a host in the host club as a male host herself. Both special club/class in Ouran high school host club the Host club and in Days of cool idols the VIP class Both Haruhi en Tsubasa are wearing a class. Haruhi only in the begining en Tsubasa in the whole manga.

She's just a poor girl and he's just a rich boy. How ever will they meet and fall in love? Ouran is much more light hearted and happy go lucky while Diamond Life deals with heavy topics such as business, finances, and something else I can't mention due to spoilers. Haruhi and Kanae are both strong, mature, inspiring women who are capable of taking care of themselves and keeping their pride. While both gals earn back their debt, they change our rich boys perspectives on life.

As an Ouran fan, I started reading Kekkon Shiyou yo because the male leads looked like Kyoya and Tamaki from Ouran. They also have similar personalities, which make both mangas quite enjoyable for the fans of the other. :) I for one enjoyed seeing my fave Kyoya in a romance of his own!

Junai Host Club is perfect if you want a shorter, but more mature version of Junai Host Club. As the titles suggest, both series are set predominantly in a host club and both have quite attractive-looking characters in them, but Junai is much more mature in themes than Ouran. Junai also has additional non-related one shot stories too, but these are just as nicely written as the story of Junai Host Club itself.

First of all, I definitely suggest you watch the Ouran anime, but read the Horimiya manga for the best experience Two lovebirds meet in a strange way. Behind closed doors, they become like entirely different images of themselves. But in public, they put on a social front. Is this considered a bad thing in Ouran Koukou Host Club, or Horimiya? No, the titles both center on embracing two sides of oneself when growing up. - They both take place in late years of high school, with a bright future ahead for the main characters. - The main character in each title is a strong, masculine woman -  read more

OK so this is going to seem like an extremely weird recommendation, but it's really true. Main difference I should say to start off is that Sonna Me de Mitekure is a BL, but I really don't think that should deter anyone from reading it. There's no gay sex or anything, and it is comedy GOLD. Plot-wise, Ouran and Sonna Me de Mitekure have absolutely nothing in common. What makes these stories similar so that I would recommend them to readers of either manga is the character relationships. Particularly the relationships between Tamaki and Haruhi and Yamato and Haru. Tamaki is basically a blonde Yamato. Both Tamaki  read more

Being by the same mangaka, they have a similar art style and humor. The main character in both series suddenly finds themselves being pulled into a club full of eccentric people, and have to adjust to their new surroundings. They mostly are humor, with gradual romance. Moments can turn from heartwarming to silly in only a few panels, and then back again. Neither is just about the main couple(s), focus is put on each important character and their stories as well. I fully enjoy reading both of these, with their funny moments, hints at romance, and a unique art style I've come to love.

Haruhi and Ai : * Are poor, * Get high scores in a high school, * The high school is for rich people. This are the only things similar.

Both manga are beautifully drawn and light-hearted (and sometimes extremely silly). In Ouran only the main character (Haruhi) cross-dresses, but in Usotsuki Lily, nearly every character cross-dresses at least once (for various reasons). Both break the fourth wall constantly, and both implement the trope of not promoting the main characters in grades. While Ouran centres around the Host Club, Usotsuki Lily focuses more on the characters and their struggles and triumphs in their relationships with one another. Very delightful reads.

these two are extremely similar. the spontaneous characters (that are also guys) and the ridiculous humor, plus the high school setting. If you liked ouran this is a MUST READ. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Fujioka Haruhi is a serious student who gets mixed up into the craziness and interesting world of Suoh Tamaki similarly to the way Mizutani Shizuku gets involved with Yoshida Haru. Both of the female main characters are self-reliant and want to be like their mothers. Also their worlds are expanded because of their contact and involvement with their male counterparts.
reportRecommended by raburabukissu
Both main female characters end up indebted and having to unwillingly work it off although Yori (Mizutama Fabric) has a former love for it and Haruhi (Ouran High School Host Club) has no interest in it whatsoever. The similarities end there though and at first they don't seem the least bit alike.
reportRecommended by grenaderbombs
A girl who is mistaken for a guy is recruited into an all-boys club. The difference is where they serve girls who know the main is a girl. The boys also find out early on. The girls are pretty jealous. If you read the first chapter you will see how similar the two are. They are both funny as well.

Both shows involve characters that need to hide there gender for the sake of their work. Very few people know that they are hiding their true gender and they have to prevent the secret from coming out. While 1/2 L♡VE has more of a serious story revolving around work in the world of idols, Ouran is more of a light-hearted comedy revolving around high school life.

eh, I see that Ouran has a lot of recommendations, so I'll keep this short. In B.O.D.Y, the main character is a host, but that's only like 30% of the plot. He falls for the girl, and the girl rejects him, but eventually they fall in love. The MC girl is more feminine, and no crossdressing. I just thought it was pretty similar, but this one is more of a mature love, only a few comedy parts.

Both titles have very distinguishable comedy in that comedic narratives often involve more than one character and sometimes span in locations away from the school setting. Do note however that although both titles have drama, it is far more present in Ouran Koukou Host Club than in School Rumble.

They both feature a powerful club that really goes overboard at the whims and passions of their president and the leading male is a charming idiot (in love anyway). I think Host Club is superior but Love Master is on the cute side and worth a shot if you want some syurpy shojo.

It’s similar to Ouran with the reverse harem theme and all those pretty boys falling all over the heroine. Both stories are funny however whilst Ouran is light, fluffy comedy, Heart No Kuni No Alice’s humour is sadistic, violent and darker in comparison. The characters in Heart No Kuni No Alice are quite “trigger happy” and merrily pull out guns and weapons at any chance they get which I find absolutely hilarious.

Honey and Clover is a Josei/Romance/Comedy/Drama story about College Life. While H&C's story is essentially different than Ouran's (and much more realistic) the general feel of H&C is very similar to Ouran. Unlike many shoujos, the main plot of H&C is developed on the friendships (as well as romance) and relationships of all the characters as a group. You will have a feeling of 'I really want these characters never to separate and be friends forever'. And like Ouran, the characters are unique and you will never forget them. I feel a lot of similarities in the setting and how characters treat main heroine. but Saiouji has more romance and the male lead is more like Kyouya.

The character banter of the harem is incredibly similar. Dakedo is less of a commitment with no real romance, but lots of flirting.

Ouran is a shoujo about girl crossdressing into a guy and ending up in a reverse harem. Kunisaki Izumo no Jijou is pretty much the same thing, except the one crossdressing is girly male character.. who also ends up in some sort of reverse harem of male characters.

animal jugle is pretty similar to ouran high school host club...why? because the main protagonist is surrounded by cute boys!! if you love the storyline of ouran, you'll defiitely love the story plot of animal jungle..although the plot is common...you'll really really love it!

Both mangas have a girl who is poor and who are surrounded by two or more cute bishies! In Ouran, the story starts off, no one in love with another. In A wolf warning, the story starts off, Moo heum in love with Han Summer. The two mangas are actually rather different and Ouran is more original than A wolf warning, but if you're looking for a manga just to pass time, a wolf warning is good. If you're looking for a manga to fall in love with, Ouran is there.
