Btooom! is the end result of the premise of Battle Royale being combined with a fictional Xbox 360 game. Or, put another way, Btooom! is Battle Royale with bomb-grenades as weapons + otaku bait. HOWEVER, Btooom! is FAR less extreme in terms of violence and the contrived 'plot armour' writing eventually weigh it down. Instead of a class of school kids finding themselves forced to kill each other until only one is left on a deserted island for totalitarian dictatorship lulz purposes (with timed bombs around their necks in case they refuse), in Btooom! a game company decides to let those unwanted by society test  read more

People are sent to the island to fight for their lives. Survival. Both are good :)

Being dragged into a 'game' in reality, you have to kill to survive!

People put on an island where they have to survive and rediscover their meaning of life. Suicide Island is a slower pace with no "game rules" while Btooom is more like Battle Royale where they have to kill each other.

Both manga involves playing a game of survival and whoever becomes the winner gets to survive. In the anime, many people's true nature were shown; their cruelty towards other people. The female lead falls in love with the male lead and assists him in surviving.

Here too the protagonist is dragged into a brutal world, trying to survive and finding nakama to overcome it.

both revolves around a game. Both lead characters have hidden potential to beat this game.

A lot of lying; backstabbing; aliances, both fake and real and smart plans to win to reach the main objective. They're both knockout races. The penalty of Liar Game is dept while the penalty of Btooom! death is.

The stage set for both series involves twisted games where its contestants' lives are at stake. The main male protagonist from both series has a similar personality and devotion to make it out alive. There is a colorful cast of characters from both series with various backgrounds and personalities. As for the games themselves, there are various rules that can be used strategically to secure victories. There is also plot twists as well as thrilling moments that any survivor horror fan may be interested in.

Trapped and with little choice left but to fight for survival, Btooom! and Real Account appeals to the survival horror genre. But in addition to just instilling on that trope, both series crafts psychological mind games. Both series' main male protagonist makes a resolve to survive while encountering allies and enemies in their stories. There are twists especially involving the origins of the game along with characters' motives. Recommended for fans who are interested in survival fiction/horror.

How good are you at playing shooter games online? Good! And what about playing them in real life? Maybe! After all, I'm good online! What if a young person with no actual combat experience whatsoever was casually dumped into a battle game setting with a unique type of weapon, like in Btooom!? Or an assortment of gory versions of popular traditional games with no means of protection at all, like in Kamisama no Iutoori? And there will be all sorts of people suffering - or enjoying - the same thing. Can they be trusted or teamed up with, and when will the game end? There is no  read more

What would you do in order not to die? Would you be able to kill another human being? And would you have the determination to keep on fighting even if it seemed hopeless? The settings in both of these manga is completely different but the element of fighting for survival is very important in both if these manga. Be prepared for violence and a lot of death before taking one of these masterpieces on!

While Tenkuu Shinpan doesn't feature game elements, the main female protagonist does find their own life at stake in an unknown world. Both series crafts survival horror elements by exploiting elements of violence, suspense, and death. The main character has a will to survive and goes to great length to discover the aimless mysteries of their circumstances. There is a thriller-like feeling for each chapter as we find out more about the story and realization that not is what as it seems. Recommended for fans of survival horror fiction.

Both manga series features the theme of survival when the main male protagonist is certainly and abruptly thrown into a new environment like he has never known before. At first, the MC seems to be timid and afraid of his new situation but as time goes on, he begins to adapt and learn new skills as well as making both allies/enemies in his quest to survive. Both series features survival horror themes with violence, gore, and some emotional moments. Both series also has a strange background related to the origins of their settings as well as back stories involving the main female protagonist.

= Both based/set in games = Both protagonists are NEETs = Both have good romance

Since the biggest strength of Btooom is seeing how characters deals with a series of rules and limitations in a competition for their lives, exploiting their possibilities and forming dubious alliances, one of the best representatives of that concept is Kaiji. While it's gambling instead of blowing up; the strategies, twists and characters are much more detailed and original. No fan service but at least the art doesn't hurt the story.

Survival on an island

Though the settings and plot in both the mangas are very different, one thing is very similar..."ANYONE CAN DIE". So, its a good idea not to get attached to any character. Still, I enjoyed both of them and I'd recommend if you are a fan of psychological /dark themes

No escape from a lonely island and this island is full of enemies. The protagonists find new friends and they have to fight for their survival.

"Life is Money" is a manga about psychological warfare, where people are brought together through normally illegal means in order to fight each other. Both manga include deception and the possibility of escape. Also, in either case the participants are caught in a certain zone which can only be left by winning the game.

Both series use the theme of "survival" in a game like setting. Similarly, the main character in each series is a pro gamer who knows what he's doing, and later on meets a girl who he swears he will protect. While Btooom focuses more on the action, SAO puts more emphasis on the romance aspect.

Both manga involve people on an island for a real life version of a game. But these people have committed some form of ill will, which leads them onto the island against their own free will.

Both manga are survival, but Btooom is where people are sent to an island and have to kill each other to survive

These two series are some of the greatest syfy manga you will ever read. Art and story are great in both

This is a another manga involving a game like setting but much more serious. A young man is forced into a game of survival and forced to kill. If you enjoy blood and gore, then go for it.
