Preliminary (95/203 chp)
When I first started Liar Game, I had pretty low expectations, thinking it was probably some Death Note rip-off. Boy was I wrong. While at the the beginning, I seriously considered dropping this manga, for reasons I'll explain later,I am EXTREMELY glad I didn't! This is a manga that will leave you at the edge of your seat, begging for more.

Story ~10/10~
So, in a nutshell, a stupidly honest girl gets mixed up in a game where you must lie. The first thing she does is fall for a lie, and seeks help from an ex-scam artist.
All in all, it's pretty original. But if ...

It's been a couple years since I first discovered Liar Game, and it has all the elements that can draw me to a fictional story : an intelligent plot, a collection of interesting characters, and a truly original premise.
I read a few arcs (which were very good) and decided to put it on hold until the story finishes because I am not that patient a person.
And when I finally decided to take it again .. boy, does it deliver.

The first thing you'll notice is the drawing. It's quirky and veers to the unusual (especially the reactions), but it really sets a tone to the ...

At the begining, Liar Game looked like anohter irrelevant thing, but when I started reading it, I was trapped untill today. This manga has a very good psichologycal style that explores the deepest parts of human ambition: seeing how each different character thinks and behave differently in the same situation keeps your attention drawn on every moment, allowing Liar Game to be an outstanding story.

Story: It has a very original idea, about a girl who sees herself trapped in this game, where she has to lie in order to live, Anyhow, she's got a problem: she is stupidly honest.

Art: The drawing in Liar Game is ...

"People SHOULD be doubted. Many people misunderstand this concept. Doubting people is just a part of getting to know them. What many people call 'trust' is really just giving up on trying to understand others, and that very act is far worse than doubting. It is actually 'apathy.'" – Akiyama Shinichi

It is common knowledge that the world is for the most part controlled by money. It is what all humans need to be successful in life, and thus why we spend such a large portion of our lives doing slave work in order to acquire as much of it as possible. Money is the source ...

This is an epic story that I have been following for years now, and I can't believe it has finally ended. *cries*

The story is a very VERY intense chess match that isn't filled with cheesy stuff like the power of friendship, but is more on actual logic. It's really unique, and it feels like every move, action, and reaction of the characters has been researched beforehand to make everything that more realistic. The games are probably the best part, and it's probably because of them that I finished this manga.

The art is not that pretty, and the reactions seem very exaggerated, but the story definitely ...

Liar Game is the epitome of psychological genre of manga. This manga will get you hooked right from the first chapter and keep you asking yourself "What will happen next ?? "

This manga is the story of an honest but really naive girl Nao Kanzaki who gets trapped in a game called "Liar Game" which is a game of intelligence and the only way to save yourself in this game is to outsmart everyone else. Nao being a the height of naive people gets swindled right at the beginning. To save herself, she asks help from an ex-con Akiyama Shinichi who helps her clear ...

I haven't read much chapters so far but I am really looking forward to the next chapter.
The story itself is very original. You find yourself intrigued and surprised every time a lie is revealed and you end up going back in the pages and you are like" OH!! So that how he did it!!" .
The art is good, nothing special about it, it fit the story well.
The characters are interesting, have a lot of depth and humanity to them. Something is always revealed about their background , so they never bore you.
The story is very exciting and fun to read, I would recommend this manga ...

The Liar Game: Outwit your opponent. Use any means you find to be necessary in order to cheat and swindle your way into taking the money they are given by the mysterious people who run Liar Game. The loser will become rich beyond their wildest dreams, and the loser will fall into deeper debt then they have ever known.

Story: The story of Liar Game is pretty good. It's not quite up to the same standards as some other psychologically based manga in that the characters in the story have a tendancy to use very blunt and fairly standard traps and plans in ...

Preliminary (9/203 chp)
I wish I could give this manga a 10. The story definitely deserves it. Kanzaki Nao ends up being dragged into a game that may leave her seriously indebted, and seeks help in a well-known swindler: Shinichi Akiyama.

Story (10)
The game is called Liar Game, as it requires lying and deceiving (something Kanzaki Nao is not fitted for) in order not to lose ones money and obtain the money from the rivals. The story is exciting; it has mystery, quizzes, lots of wit and imagination.

There is something that bothered me a little. Halfway the manga, many of the plans carried out by the characters are ...

Personal review for my future self should i ever look back to see what manga ive dropped and pick up again

Nao made me stop reading for a multitude of reasons that seemed to continue and essentially becomes a plot hole herself:

(minimal spoilers and half-assed predictions for not reading all the way through)

her mother died when she was at the age of 1 and her fathers been diagnosed with terminal cancer for who knows how long and only has so many years to live (1). This kept bugging me; how can Nao not think for herself when she has been living alone for almost the ...

This manga has reminded me to not put too much stock into MAL's rankings for popularity + scoring. Perhaps I walked in with expectations that were just too high, but this didn't even live up to its premise all that well. While the characterization and artwork were competent enough to keep me coming back, the story itself is pretty shoddy. Let's dig in and see just why I feel this way!

[Story - 4]

The basic premise is that an overly honest girl gets a pro conman to help her out in an underground tournament of games revolving around deception. This is all fine and dandy, since ...

Preliminary (90/203 chp)
Liar Game is about a honest girl who participates in a crazy tournement called the Liar Game. There is no violence allowed, only lying. The participants can gain a lot of money but they can also lose a lot and that's is whay they are afraid of.

At the beginning you might think this manga is just average but that isn't true. Things are really getting started from chapter 9.

Art:

The art isn't really good but that didn't bother me when I was reading it.

All people wear masks. Everyday has secrets that they hide from the world. Everybody lies in order to benefit themselves. Money... Money... Money... Money is corruption itself. You'd think human beings control money, but no. Money controls people. The concept of betrayal originated from people's jealousy of wealth. So what do you think will happen when people are all thrown into a TV show game where lying and betraying are the main themes. When a buttload of money is given to the participants for them to utilize to deceive their opponents and steal their opponents money. Luck? No such thing. Friendship? No such thing. All ...

[Spoiler free review]

I count myself as one of the fortunate few that started Liar Game when the manga was still on its beginnings and were able to follow it chapter by chapter. This manga, I thought back then, was amazing. I still think so, but some observations have to made when reviewing this manga. You have to review Liar Game in two ways: prior to chapters 140-170, and after chapters 140-70. The reason to that will be explained when I start reviewing after the chapters 140-170.

Liar Game is a controversial manga, in the sense that the same things that some people will praise will also ...

Liar game is the story of a a group of people that got invited to play a game with high rewards and high risk. You see the story through the eyes of the woman called Nao Kanzaki. And honest girl that will take part in the game.

Story: The story isnt anything great but still keeps you wondering what is behind the Liar game. Nao get a package of money along with an invitation for the liar game. Once you open the package you are already part of the game, well i wont say anything more because i dont want to spoil but at some ...

Storyline: 10
The plot is simply original. In most mangas where there are sudden twists, Liar Game is full of them and, they are smartly planned out. Each challenge is psychologically related and also challenging. And they actually make sense. However, the main characters being able to solve each puzzles and use the,'actually, I had already figure that out' phrase does get kinda cheesy, but its still a good read as it keeps you on the edge to know how exactly will the mangaka pull it off.

Characters: 8
The characters are simply down to earth, they really portray just how rotten we humans are and how distrustful ...

It's hard to approach writing about such a behemoth of a manga. Sporting 203 chapters, “Liar Game” is all about Trust. A story that puts the most honest person to ever exist on earth, in a game about becoming the best liar. She teams up with one of the smartest characters ever put to ink. The premise is quite engrossing, endearing even. Probably what hooked so many into such a series.

Story: 6/10
For starters, the story's great. It gives off a sense of true anguish and pain when the games are so high stakes and our protagonist can't do anything against the people lying to ...

Preliminary (17/203 chp)
Really addictive from the very beginning. Pretty simple plot but with extremely complex - and surprising - twists. The art is not outstanding but good enough. And anyway it's definetly not the point in this Manga. The story on the other hand is great. You just got to continue reading to find out what's behind it all. The Liar Game can be recommended for anyone who enjoys psychological games and addictive storytelling!

It's one of THOSE mangas. Main character is "Can't we all get along and live in peace. Let's just be friends".

But in this case the naive main character is placed in what is known as "Liar Game" where deception is the name of the game, yet our main character is so wonderfully naive... well this is the perfect synopsis for a weak manga that gets lots of love because people like the main character, but everything is setup so she can win.

And flat out I'll say... our main character doesn't win. At least not in the way these things ...

Synopsis:

Kanzaki Nao, a foolishly honest college student, receives a package containing 100 million yen and a postcard that states, "Congratulations! You are 1 of the 100 000 people who have been entered in the Liar Game." This activates a series of events that will drive Kanzaki Nao in discovering the dark, hidden side of the human nature as well as to test her ability to "foolishly" trust other people. Will she be able to survive the Liar Game?

Story: 9/10

The Liar Game has both amused and disheartened me throughout my reading experience. For the most part, I enjoyed it. ...
