Synopsis

Kaoru Sakura is a young pastry chef who takes pride in his outstanding skills and good looks. As a result, his newly-opened Western-style pâtisserie, Bisous, quickly gains popularity—especially among women. But his success is soon bogged down when a nearby Japanese confectionery store captures the attention of his clientele.

Unsure of what the appeal of traditional sweets are, Kaoru decides to scope out the competition himself. He finds that the long-established, family-owned store is operated by the charming and composed Soujirou Tatsugawa—who, unlike Kaoru, seems indifferent about the two establishments sharing the same customer base. In fact, he is rather intrigued by Kaoru's creations. As the two get to know each other, Kaoru realizes his business rival is more delightful than what either of their shops have to offer.

I fell in love with this Manga and the one-shot!
The first chapter immediately got me hooked up. The theme, plot and characters feel so interesting to me.

First, I could have never imagined that the whole "sweets store" theme would work out, but at the same time it was like a perfect fit. Giving so many great opportunities for cute scenarios. Even though their story started way different than I would have ever imagined... It was just so unique? Even dumb maybe? But in any case, it got me interested.

Second thing that totally got me, is the cute_ish art style. It suits my taste ...

I was quite excited when i started to read, since the manga have this style that remember me the "classical" japanese style, but most of time i think was or annoying or nice. The main character (Sakura) is really annoying, and got me tired since the first pannel, Tatsuya is his opposite, so both of them made a good couple.
The second and third were good chapters, and they left me with a warm heart.

This manga is so bored by its own characters and story that once the main characters get together, it all just devolves into plotless porn. Which, y'know, that's fine if that's what you wanna read, but why disguise it as a BL romance centered around cute sweets and stuff?
It just makes the first couple chapters feel like a useless precursor to when they inevitably have sex. (Which, yes, the sex happens when one gets the other purposefully drunk so that they can have sex. Which is so weird and ew on so many levels.)

Overall, this had promise, but is kind of a waste ...
