It’s essentially a spiritual successor to Act-Age. Quite similar quality art, about acting and the industry, and also some great writing. It’s something to give us Act-Age fans something to put our faith in.

The same author writes the story. The artist is different but has the heart that Kaguya-sama has. Even though I am not into this kind of anime/manga, I loved it, and am hooked on each chapter

oshi no ko and idolish7 are about the struggles of the entertainment industry, and the characters in it doing their best to rise and be more popular, even though oshi no ko branches out into more topics than just being an idol, both have are unique works that are really interesting

Similar premises where the protagonists navigate through the entertainment industry in order to seek revenge. Skip Beat's direction of revenge is of the basis of romantic connections whereas Oshi no Ko focuses more on familial ties but with an extra element of an emotionally charged mystery. They'll meet peers that will mutually challenge each other to grow in the industry as well as facing challenges that will test their talents and emotions.

Covers the "dark side" of modern day industries.

Series about the entertainment industry that take a much darker turn within the first 10-15 chapters
reportRecommended by Sparkletopia
They both involve dark psychological premise while they both touch on adult concepts and seem harmless at first oshi no ko uses idols as a base premise while shounen no abyss feels like a more mature and serious series dealing with some very real and down to earth problems while still feeling impactful and real to the reader.
reportRecommended by Syntan
Both of these manga are hilarious scenarios where the MCs are hiding a lot about themselves In Spy x Family, the MCs are a spy, an assassin, and a baby with ESP In Oshi no Ko, the MC is an idol with a baby, and the babies can talk. They are both lighthearted and very funny, I recommend both.
reportRecommended by kelcollin
Both show insights to the life of idols and their hardships they encounter and their motivations to become idols despite those. Shady business behind the scenes is also a theme. Oshi no Ko also shows other parts of showbiz (reality TV, child acting careers, etc.), while AKB49 solely focuses on the jpop idol group AKB48.

Mangas about acting, though Oshi no ko has a lot of dancing/singing/idol activities too, whereas Kasane focuses just on acting. In both the protagonists have a dead parent who was a legend in show business with mysteries surrounding them that protagonists unravel slowly. Both feel melodramatic at times. Kasane is more supernatural and darker, whereas Oshi no ko has a lot of lighter and comedic/endearing segments.
reportRecommended by triske
-Both MCs are extremely similar, as they are both calculating and manipulative + have ulterior motives for doing what they are doing -Both have a chapter / arc that is EXTREMELY similar, premise wise / with respect to their premise The first nine chapters of Oshi no ko is like a completely different series though, and serves as a prologue of some sorts
reportRecommended by asdfgoat
A manga about theater that restarts in a setting where you are supposed to have died once. Both also feature stories about actual stages related to anime and video games, including 2.5-dimensional stages. You can enjoy not only the plays, but also stories about the stage staff, such as the director.

Tackle various secret / scandal in entertainment industry, while Oshi no Ko from entertainer pov, Tokyo Neon Scandal take from tabloid / reporter point of view. Viral story, hidden secret, invasion of privacy, news media both manga explore all about entertainer's scandals.

It is similar to 1-nen a-gumi no moster its protagonist and other characters that you can find in this story. Totally recommended if you like mystery, school genetics.

Both have great artwork and have a horror aspect. They are polar opposites but are both really good. Oshi No Ko is more about the backside of Acting while Yofukashi no Uta is about Vampires. Trust me on these two.
reportRecommended by AkSnoopyy
They both deal with becoming rising stars in the Japanese entertainment industry and also finding out the inner workings of it, both the good and the bad. They also both have similar ways of tackling comedy, using expressive artwork to do so. And they also find the perfect balance of using more darker themes in their narrative whist still keeping it uplifting, wholesome and funny throughout.

Both are about japanese art forms (Acting & Rakugo)

murder mystery aspect

- Both are heavily rooted in mystery - Both involve supernatural happenings - Both start off seeming relatively wholesome but become much darker as the series progresses - Both have characters which focus on “exposing” the truths larger forces at work (Oshi no Ko with the Idol industry and Shadows House with- well- Shadows House)
reportRecommended by Atsunome
Both stories have dark themes that reflect on real issues in the real world but also have a wholesome side to it that doesn't take away from the serious parts.
reportRecommended by YohaNico
Both involve very romantic type of entertainment while oshi no ko can be much more dark and moody mousou telepathy can make the reader feel a sinking sensation as the chapters develop into its climax
reportRecommended by Syntan
Both are about entering entertainment industry and becoming a celebrity. And in both there is a criminal investigation led by main characters, in which the victim was very popular female idol.
reportRecommended by klakson188
Both are about Creative Endeavors, and both have a way of enticing passion in the hearts of the readers
reportRecommended by ChibiTalha
so both stories focus on a female lead trying to make it in the music industry and both stories can be real af and can get quite touchy too.
reportRecommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Both have Idol culture in them Both have mystery and drama Both dive deep in characters who work with idols and media
reportRecommended by Midori_Sky
Both stories follow a protagonist that longs for revenge. Even though Oshi no ko doesnt have the torture and mind-games aspect, both protagonists give off a similar vibe.
reportRecommended by akashi_chibi
- Both titles have unique and creative art styles - If you've read either one you will know what the plot is and they're pretty similar - Interesting mysteries - Both can get pretty dark and they both tackle serious topics
reportRecommended by Febbe
both mc are reincarnated, then help the other characters to solve their problems while gaining their own character development. I love these type of story sm.

Kinda surprised that no one said this yet. Runway de Waratte is a story centered around the world of Fashion and shows the workings in the fashion world. The story focuses on 2 main characters, Chiyuki who dreams to be a model and take part in the Paris Fashion week someday, and Ikuto who wants to design clothes. Overall it is a quite an enjoyable manga which you will probably like if you enjoyed Oshi no Ko.
reportRecommended by StrawhatAJ
Both mangas put focus upon the Idol industry, with in-depth perspectives upon the struggles that are faced daily. It further delves into the darker aspects, highlighting grotesque elements often covered by media. The leading Idols (In this case, Ai and Karen) are similar, they both flourish within the Idol industry at a young age, and are consequently followed by a tragedy, which expands to a bigger mystery. Both mangas aim to not only shine light upon the misdeeds that are the result of the idol community but to entirely showcase toxic issues (over-sexualization, assaults, etc) that are experienced often. Sayonara Miniskirt provides a similar storyline to  read more

If you’re looking for another manga series that’s about the entertainment industry, this one is not for you. But while reading Oshi no ko the characters heavily reminded me of blue flag because they were real and dealt with very real and modern issues. I often find myself disconnected from the characters in manga and anime as western culture and Japanese culture is very different and I’ve noticed that in mangas, characters don’t reflect on themselves and deal with things as we do. But both of these mangas have fantastic characters and talk about really interesting topics that makes you think.
