The romance feels similiar. Horimiya is all highschool based while Yamada-kun to Lv999 isn't.

They're both light-hearted romantic comedies about gamers/nerds. The settings are pretty similar with a few chapters taking place in-game. Wotaku is about an office relationship vs. Yamada-kun the FL and ML are still in school. Overall they are both very refreshing reads about gamers and romance.

"Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru" and "Dusk Howler" are funny comedies about gamers who met in an MMORPG game, but "Yamada-kun" is a romantic story about a development of a romantic relationship between a cute and sociable girl Akane and an unsociable guy Yamada who acts like an ice prince, while "Dusk Howler" is a bromance story about a development of friendship between two feminine guys: one of these guys, Nine, is a very sociable extrovert who likes to flirt with both girls and guys, but both female players and male players find him weird and avoid him because he has several oddities  read more

Both are based around MMO games—the characters can join a guild, grind for items, etc. They both have moments where they are showing the characters’ in-game interactions, as well as their interactions in real life. Both have a focus on a “strangers (to guild-mates) to lovers” type relationship. Overall, both are quite fun and light-hearted reads.

Similar feel to them, somewhat bubbly and clumsy female lead and level-headed male lead who is helping her and showing kindness in practical and protective ways; similar "will they-won't they" moments in the beginning of the story (and you know they will, it's in the title and cover page); similar romantic scenes, their relationships are filled with sweetness; all of them are adults: the male leads are so hot they are turning heads anywhere they go "How I met my soulmate" has better character art, while Yamada has less angst and, at the moment, sturdier relationship and the female lead is a bit more realistic in  read more

Both of these stories (albeit one very shorter) are a very cute representation of the early states of forming a relationship. On the other hand, due to being longer, Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru actually explores the early stages of a relationship and how the bond deepens, changing the relationship along the way. Both of the male MCs seem to have a standoffish attitude, but are actually incredibly sweet. The female MCs can come off as shy and frequently embarrassed. The characters in both stories struggle to understand their feelings towards their counterpart. If Hamuko to Gao-kun was longer, I believe it could've  read more

If you love a romance story with games are involved then you gonna love these two manga. They might be a small but slight age gap between the main characters, but overall you have the characters that found love in games and each other.

When you find a person you love and found out they are a popular gamer/streamer then look no further than these two stories. It has drama, school scenarios, and friends/guildmate that look out for each other.
