According to dojin mangaka Guyohmaru's blog, Aniplex announced at a preview for the anime business people that four extra episodes of Darker than BLACK - Ryuusei no Gemini will be released as DVD/Blu-ray only episodes. The four episodes are the side stories bridging the gap between the first and the second series and will be included in the even number volumes of the DVD/Blu-ray Discs. The number of the main episodes to be aired on TV is twelve.

I knew it would end up with DVD-only episodes =.=

But I can't understand why only 12 episodes... does it mean that they made a short, but really good sequel, or that this way we'll have less things to complain about? OwO

Well, at least now we know. As much of a let down as this is, when you think about it, the first show is technically 13 episodes anyway since the two part story arcs combined round out at an hour, so... But hey, it's better then nothing, and with FMA Brotherhood not doing so well apperently I don't think they have a whole lot of money to spare.

That's such a shame, I was expecting a 25 episode series again.

Oh well, a smaller amount of Darker than Black is better than no Darker than Black ♥

12?! DTB, with its storyline, can't possibly be the same with that few episodes. Oh well, I guess I should stop complaining and wait and see what happens.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Wow, they are cutting down the number of episodes. I expect production to be equally as well or perhaps better than the first season when they only have 12 episodes (16 if you count the extras) to build. I have high expectations after that first season. :-\

That's a lot of DVD-only episodes, though I guess it makes sense if they would be a distraction to the main storyline.

Twelve episodes better mean no fillers.

Well this is disappointing but I mean it makes sense, instead of having two episode arc there just going to run through a continuous story? Well if the pace is faster I suppose that could be better though it could also been done very poorly as well so I guess we'll just have to wait and see, not much longer anyway.

oh well, as long as the pacing is smooth, I guess i'm okay with it. On the positive side, no more detective guy (whatever he's name is) fillers :D. He just ruins the mood you know :o

Although I'm disappointed we only get to see Hei and co. for 12 episodes, I'm sure the production team knows what they're doing. :) I won't complain. It probably wouldn't have turned out well if it was any longer. Baccano! was only 13 eps (not counting the 3 DVD-only eps) and I absolutely adored that series.

I'll just think of this season as one long arc because that's essentially what it is. As for the 4 extra episodes, will those be an animation of the currently running manga? It seems like they will be. Either way, I'll look forward to those too.

http://www.fansub.tv/ go there

Previwe was aaaawesome!! But it made me a little sad..poor Yin..Hei with short hair and without beard is the best.

I think it's better being short than being unnecessarilly long and boring. If they answer the questions left in the first season than it's okay..

No wonder why there seems to be a gap between the first season and the current season, the creators have already decided to make some ova.

ugh Hei x Yin -_- There was absolutely nothing indicating in the first season that the had even the slightest romantic feelings for each other...and now there's all this. I bet BONES is only doing this because it's a popular pairing...Amber x Hei ftw

I am liking the OVA so far but why couldn't they have done this inbetween S1 and S2? It would have made everything so much more enjoyable - plus I think it would have created a lot of anticipation for S2 and gotten them more viewers thus more money. I am really not liking what BONES is doing but I guess everyone fucks up sometimes. The plot is another thing entirely..

One last thing to bitch about before I go.. why is it series like this are always short? (S1 25ep, S2 12ep, come on.. S2 isn't even half of S1!) yet there are pretty crappy Shounen out there that are easily 100+ episodes? The obvious reason is that it doesn't have shitty writing so there is only so much you can expect from the writers, but I mean.. still.. makes me sad.
