I'll be honest here, I don't happen to be the biggest fan of the franchise but the first half of the first season is easily my favourite arc and I'm so glad we'll be seeing a better version of it soon.

What're your thoughts on this?

Moon Cradle will have to wait a bit longer, I imagine...

On another note, Goodbye Aliciazation!

It is a fixed version of the first Sword Art Online, it fixes everything that was wrong with the first arc which happens to be the best arc

No. It's a retelling of the original Aincrad arc and it expends the story floor by floor. The things that happened in Season 1 (LN Vol 1 and 2 ) still happens.

Just say progressive is a longer version of original one and don't do bullshit time skipping.

Well there probably isn enough material for a full season of Unital ring yet so they probably decided to fill the gap with Progressive. Should be intresting, can't see us getting Unital ring for another 3 years or so.

Well, i can say that 1st season was my favorite arc! yet it will be remaked with slower pace and progressive plot! hope it will be worth it waiting for another year..

But someone (maybe from LN reader) can give me a clue, if the plot and pace have further details, then how many episodes will this series cover?

I mean, 1st Season of SAO in Aincrad cover about 12 episode, with all those timeskip and quick pace, then how about this series?

Considering the franchise got progressively worse after the first arc...this seems like a really good idea. Go back to the best season and just make it better.

This seems like the best idea they could run with. A slow pace to an arc that was so interesting you could have made it so much longer without it feeling dragged out.

I can't see much of an issue going in this direction.

I hope the anime franchise does a rebirth so fantastic with this chance that even the decade long haters will have to admit they like it

This is definitely NOT a remake, but more like a SPIN-OFF. I read one chapter of the manga. It basically focus more in depth of the story happened in the Aincrad floors. Such as npc, quests, miniquests, events, maybe more about the system mechanics. That's my guess from the first chapter.
