Nana

Ok, first the art of Nana and ParaKiss is very similar. Second, the plots revolve around people in showbiz (fashion - music). Third, love, sex and making one's way in life are told in a mature way...means more realistic, minus the teen angst...plus drama. 

Both animes are very visually appealing, and the characters in both series are very trendy and have that cool-coffee house aura. It also has similar romantic themes. Enjoy! 

both mangas were written by the same author so the style of drawing is the same. Also the themes, young love, angst, rebellion, etc are present in both animes. 

Besides being from the same genuis author, both revolve around one thing. For Nana it was music and for ParaKiss it is fashion. Both have realistic and interesting characters, realtionships,friendships, and drama. Plus both animes end in a place where you didnt expect them to. TIAYWBH! (Try It And You Will Be Hooked):)  

Done by the same mangaka, Ai Yazawa, both works highlight fashion and the lifestyle of a select group of artistes, whether of the fashion world or the underground punk scene. The stories, starting out as simple and uncomplicated, soon branch out to explore the separate lives of other characters. While ParaKiss is a little more abbreviated than NANA, both have strong elements of soap opera in them. ParaKiss is actually the earlier work of the two but the art style of Ai Yazawa is echoed to some extent in NANA, featuring skinny characters with a strong sense of style.  

Well, aside from having been made by the same mangaka, I loved both Nana and ParaKiss. If you're into serious drama about love life, you must watch them! 

Both series were created by the awesome Ai Yazawa. The story premises are similar except NANA is about music and ParaKiss is about fashion. What could be better? Both titles are a piece of Shōjo heaven. 

Both are by Mad House and adapdated from the manga by Ai Yazawa. In both you’ll find romance, drama, and a group of friends with all their relationships, problems, and background stories. Both have very pretty and detailed art, unique characters, and a good OST. Parakiss is shorter, less romantic, and more sexual than Nana, and the latter is more dramatic, touching, and moving, but both are mature, enjoyable, and well-made. Nana focuses on music and Parakiss on fashion, anyway if you loved one you’ll like the other as well. 

Similar characters not so much in story but you will definitley LOVE this show if uve seen either of them, and im pretty sure it was made by the same person that made nana. its not a long show but trust me youll wish it was when its all over. 

The art for the two shows were originally done by the same person. Both are very realistic, and dramatic. There is romance, (more in NANA, but then again it's a longer anime), and characters discovering who they truly are. Be prepared for tears, or at least deep feelings, in both. (More in NANA, once again, it's longer) 

They are both mature dramas that are based on manga by Ai Yazawa and are targeted towards adult women. Both shows deal with love, drama and finding ones place in life. 

The stories might differ , but their design is similar and so is the atmosphere they give off. You find cool characters with piercings etc. in both series and their plots are pretty interesting. Both have moments of romance, fun, drama as well as melancholy. 

From the same mangaka, now is related about a friendship and one of the characters pass for a suffering relationship with a famous person, and the protagonist is helped with any doubts about life. 

Paradise Kiss and Nana are about "being famous". Nana is more about music, while Paradise Kiss (ParaKiss for short) is about fashion. The stories are about 2 girls who want to be big (as a model and as a band singer). Both series are made by the same mangaka (Ai Yazawa) and include lots and lots of romance and drama. A must see!

Both Nana's (NANA) and Yukari (ParaKiss) try to find love, while moving up in the world with their careers, and trying to find something more to live for. All of the characters are revealed to secrets as their stories progress, and the hard times of characters in NANA are much like that of the hard times for characters in ParaKiss. 

Paradise Kiss is written by the same author, Ai Yazawa. The animation and graphics are similar and it has a really good storyline!  

Romance Sex By Same Creator(same art) can't explain ecatly why there alike but you'll under stand when you watch both VERY good 

As i watched both Paradise Kiss and Nana i found some similarities like the fashion statement this both anime has. Both of this anime has good art in fashion both animes have nice soundtracks and different different genres. The characters too has some similarities as well. :D 

The shows both have a very similar feel and style to it, it's not your average romance anime but both have a very realistic touch over them. The art also looks rather similar although there are of course various difference but still great and fitting for the story!

The author of both anime is the same. Both anime talk about love and fame world. They both have a similar ambient and the characters are extravagant. 

Ai Yazawa’s work is so distinctive that no one could mistake Nana and Paradise Kiss as being written by anyone else. While the series aren't perfect, they can be considered one of the frontrunners of modern shoujo romance. I emphasize modern because of how backward and traditional other romance anime seems when compared to Yazawa’s work. While other shoujo series are still mucking about with idealistic conceptions of the One True Love, the feelings of Yazawa’s characters are much more complex, layered, and believable. Nana and Paradise Kiss are amazing not only for convincing us that its characters love each other, but for convincing us that we know why they love each other. read more 

They are written by the same author. Both have emotional impact, though the end may be viewed as a happy one. 

They are both able to dig themselves into your heart and really love them. They are both great works of art that appeal to a persons romantic side. You will be constantly be experiencing all of the characters emotions as if they were your own. Truly recommend you watch it.  

Both are works from Ai Yazawa, Paradise Kiss is a Josei series just like Nana and it focuses on love, fashion, and life changing decisions. If you found it enjoyable and are looking for something similar give this a try. 

- Both anime are by the same studio - Art styles are similar - Main characters have a dream they want to achieve, and they also want to leave their home town for something bigger - I'd describe both anime as more of a josei anime (so the story is a bit more mature), even though Nana is tagged as shoujo in MAL - The romance seems more realistic than most romance anime Just give them both a go, and you'll see the similar vibe they have. They're both great. 

both coming-of-age, and mainly about romantic relationships, but Paradise Kiss is set at the end of high school, and is more focused and less rambly & sentimental than Nana becomes. 

They both are intricate storylines with rather complex characters. They both are on the mature side and deal with the theme that love isn't perfect. They both have characters who are trying to make it. Nana has music and Paradise kiss had music. Nana is definitely longer and in my opinion, Nana is better but if you're looking for something similar I recommend Paradise kiss.  

The author of Nana is the author for Paradise Kiss, so if you love her work you'll enjoy this. -Similar anime style and art -Good romance -Stunning characters -the main character Yukari is a young woman who is trying to figure out what she wants in her life and along the way meets people who change her life and bring in the inspiration she needs, similar to the girls in Nana ^_^ 

These two anime give of the same kind of mature feel, interesting unique characters and both have the same author.

Both feature complex relationships rather than the more simplistic love stories common to anime. There's some deeply traumatic themes later in both stories. While Paradise Kiss focuses on fashion and breaking into modelling/fashion design, Nana is music-oriented. There's also themes of queerness in both (much more overt in Paradise Kiss, and mostly subtextual in Nana). Finally, although the character models for some characters are similar, their actual personalities are very different. Caroline and Nana Osaki, George and Ren, Arashi and Nobu: although these characters might look similar to each other, their personalities are vastly different. 

Apart from the obvious visual appeal, both are similar because they are about relationships, being young, and finding one's self. 

if you like Yazawa Ai then that's a good thing because both series are from that author. Both are equally enjoyable.

Nana feels like the love-child of Beck and Honey & Clover. If you liked Nana, I'd suggest Beck if you liked the struggling band/musical aspects of Nana. And vice versa. =) 

Nana and Beck tell us about the musical industry and everything concerning the creative process. We'll meet naive novices and tycoons of record labels, rookies and stars. Although in Nana the story is focused on love and relationships, it's also about the life of musicians, including live shows in small clubs, the recording process, promotion and music videos. If you want to know more about the musical industry you'll enjoy watching these series. 

Both series are done by Mad House. Both have their good share of drama and music, and overall the atmosphere is similar. They both have similar characters and the struggle of a new band trying to show this world their talent. 

Music and life. Both are great anime about a group of friends trying to make a rock band. Slice of life, drama, and romance are the predominant elements of both series (Nana is more girl-oriented, though). There is also the competition between 2 rival bands. We see the characters growing up during the series, and struggling to make their dreams come true. Also, both anime are by Mad House, and Takumi and Ryusuke are similar. 

Both anime have a theme of music, BECK is more of a music fans anime while NANA is more centered toward a shoujo audience . never the less both anime are amoung my favourite. Although I feel BECK is my favourite anime of all time NANA is the closest anime you will get related to rock music. (next to BECK that is) 

Both NANA & Beck are focused on music. NANA has female main characters and the serie centers around them. Also, they're already in their twenties. Beck on the other hand has young boys as main characters. Their both great to watch and have their own amount of music and drama. 

both are portraying a struggling rock band for their path to popularity, their love problems, friendship... although, nana is a more emotional, and from a girls point of view, while in beck, except their music (and all around it), we do not get to know their other side: family. both have some great music, that will stuck to your mind hours and days later. enjoy! 

There both are about trying to make it big in a band and falling in love. 

Revolving around music and in a way relationships. Beck is more of an anime I'd recommend if you enjoy having your adrenline pumping. Captivating, slow at times but worth every minute of every episode. Catchy music. Nana, more if you want to have your heart thumping, rising, tears in your eyes. Yet still some essences of adreanline. Creative characters, good story lines. Overall both series are MUST-WATCH for all music fans be they pop music, indie, rock, heavy metal, punk.  

Both focus on the mentality and hard work it takes to become the biggest rock band in the world. Both feature AMAZING soundtracks plus references to big rock bands. 

Great and about music both 

Both are well-received anime centered around drama and music. Both have fantastic soundtracks.  

Wow, both of these series reminds me of one and the other in a variety of ways. Both series features music as a prominent theme. They have a band who are trying to make a name of themselves in the music industry. But more than that, there is a complex friendship between the two main characters in both series. Beck and Nana are like brothers and sisters imo. They have comedy, romance, drama, and is presented in a mature way that is more than the typical shoujo/high school romances. Both series also has that slice of life feeling detailing some of the events of the characters' every day lives whether involving their careers or their love lives.  read more 

If you like Beck you might just enjoy Nana. They both have rock bands and awesome music and are pretty realistic. The only difference is Beck is light, comedic and shounen. Nana makes you cry its Shoujo. 

Nana and Beck have very similar feeling. When I was watching Beck, I remembered all my feelings about Nana. Also both have really great music and they are uncomparable to other animes from music genre.  

Both of these two anime revolve around the topic music in one way or another, for example they both involve bands trying to make their debut. The overall feeling is the same, in both they are dealing with everyday issues and things that "ordinary" people can relate to. 

The two dominant music-dramas in anime/manga, for good reason. Both feature excellent rock based soundtracks and deal in the realistic when it comes to human drama. Beck is more of a "breaking out of your shell and do something" story, while Nana is more about the pitfalls that come with freedom as young adults. Nana's a stronger work, but Beck's really easy to watch, so I'd start with it if you haven't seen either.

While differences between from the shows' intended audience--Nana, a josei; and Beck, a shounen--are clear, both believably chart the growth in its main character's maturity with wonderful relationships to supporting characters, love interests, and the abstraction of the music business as an antagonist. Nana and Beck are two music anime, that are about the life of a musician and the creative process, that goes into what they´re doing. They´re both heavily focused around rock music and have a score to complement such. 

Nana is an wonderful example for a well done combination of slice of life, with very good development of its characters and their relationships, and an insight in the later punk music scene. If you like good melodrama, with a charming kind of sophisticated, fitting humor presenting compelling characters in an extremely impressive music arrangement & astonishing seiyû, you should try "Nana" too. Beck and Nana are not identical but they do hit the same tone in the best sense of the word.  

Music, feelings and Love. While Beck is more focused on Music industry , Nana Deals with love and a lot drama and at the same time with concerts, music and lifes of musicians. 

Both NANA & Beck are great musical dramas. Both the shows revolve around their main characters forming a band and showing their talents to the world. NANA is a shoujo anime on the other hand Beck is a shounen. Both have good music but the songs in NANA are much better. Both have romance and dramas, Beck is more centered around music than romance but NANA is more inclined towards the romance part along with music. In Beck average age of the characters are below eighteen and in NANA they are above eighteen, so it has more adult contains than Beck.  

Both animes are music dramas, in both shows the characters gonna get through a lot of problems. Also both animes starts kinda slowly, but the plot gonna get more interesting and darker little by little. In both animes the main cast wanna reach success as artists, they gonna involve with other characters later in the show as well. In both animes most of the characters are adults, allowing more serious topics to be addressed with more realism. 

Both have characters that aim really high in the industry, they have drama almost every moment and both have character connections that are satisfying to watch.

The cast of both series are in majority adults, in both of them there's characters that wanna reach their music dreams, but they're gonna face their past and the troubles in the present, both series touches topics with the entertainment industry, the family traumas. In both series the characters have a past that not gonna be revealed early in the plot, and everyone have their own space to be develop. 

In both anime, the main cast is mostly adults, which makes them have different reactions and ways of expressing their feelings, both touches darker topics but in a realistic way. Both are filled with drama and emotional moments, but the cast is carismatic and the humor in both series help to make it more enjoyable. Both have an amazing direction and amazing/memorable musical moments (with bangerz). 

In both animes there's characters that wanna reach success in music business, due to this both touches some of music industry issues. Both have characters that pass trought hard experiences, the drama is well-handled and the direction is good too. 

Both are music animes that have a lot of drama in it. In both animes most of the characters are +18, also they develop their relationship little by little. In both series there's amazing musical moments that are gonna be emotional. Idolish7 and Nana have good direction 

The plot in both animes is a mix between the life of the characters and their goals, specially as a musicians the development are pretty similar. Both anime's cast are mostly adults, which let the plot be a little more mature than you usually expect from an anime targeted for young female  

Both have a mainly adult cast which let the possibility to touch darker topics than you usually see in a anime targeted to young females/in a shoujo anime. In Nana and Idolish7 you'll find tons of drama and emotional moments The characters face some struggles around the music like the industry obstacles, the conflicts for their relationships, etc. 

Nana and Idolish7 talk about the complexity of relationships, how they affect us in a positive way and in a negative way sometimes. Both animes also talk about the struggles in the music industry in a realistic way, and both have very dramatic moments as well. 

VERY dramatic animes about the relationships that the characters build thanks to the music, both animes talk about the good and bad things about being a famous singer and the obstacles of the industry. Both have a "shoujo comedy" but in a good way because this is well handled. 

Nana and Idolish7 are similar mainly because both are dramatic stories with the music as a theme, the characters in both animes have to grow and learn more about each other and deal with her personal problems, most of the cast are adults which let the anime touch more serious topics. 

Music animes that round on the characters backgrounds and how they have to live thanks to it, in both animes the characters don't know each other, also the animes talk about the industry and how hard can be sometimes reach fame while being honest. 

Anime about complicated relationships of the characters that are known thanks to music, both are very dramatic and have similar comedy too, the characters are mostly adults which allows them to touch on more complicated topics with seriousness 

Both are shows who strength is the dramatic moments and character developments, the cast are vinculed to music and thanks to that they know each other. The characters are morally grey, you will not find a completely good or completely evil character, they have their reasons and the writing on them are really good, they are good believable characters. Both shows also talk about the industry and its issues 

Both animes have in common that are music animes but they center most of the time in other aspects like the relationships of the characters, their personal struggles, or how hard they have try to being famous in having a name in the music industry. Most of the characters are adults too. 

both are musical animes where they focus more than anything on the relationships of the characters and how their lives are affected by it, also in both the characters dream of achieving musical stardom, it shows how hard the music industry can be sometimes.

Nana and Carole & Tusday both have two similar main themes, female friendship and a love for music. Both start of with two girls meeting by chance and ending up living together in apartment, both shows have strong musical ties and people trying to make it big, and strange enough both shows use the two main characters names in their titles. The shows seem to focus both strongly on character development. They have nice character designs and kick ass music, though I'd have to note C & T's main characters are much younger so this may effect their choice, desires and the whole shows attitude towards more adult content.  read more

Both are grounded, emotional drama shows about the intimate, pseudo-romantic friendship between two adult women—total opposites (one bubbly and cheery, the other more mature and realistic) who end up living together and trying to make it in music  

Both have musically inspired stories with a friendship between two girls who are total opposites as their center. C&T lacks the dark themes of Nana and is a much simpler show but makes up for it with much more well made music. Honestly, the most bangers to ever come out of any anime, ever. Give C&T a chance, it might surprise you! 

They are very similar in terms of set up- if you like one you will no doubt like the other! Both feature two girls with differing personalities/style meeting by chance and moving in together, with music as a driving plot point (moreso in c&t than nana) The stories and tone (with nana ofc being a bit deeper/heavier/realistic) are different aside from this, but the overall theme of female relationships is there to enjoy, so give it a chance! 

music is the soul. two unlikely girls meet and try to do the best with their lives while chasing their dreams, c&t is severely less depressing tho. good for them.  

Both are about 2 girls who become friends, a lot of music themes. The topics touched are quite nice too like consent of uploading ones photos, i feel like not many anime talk about that. I've only started it but I already know Nana fans would love it since a lot of things overlap, im already liking it a lot :)) 

Both anime are close to reality. There are lots of romance, drama and some funny stuff. Nana is a really great anime. ^_^

There are a lot of drama and complications on both series hence this recommendation. Then, of course, there is romance and comedy. While NANA is more for the mature audience, both series emphasizes relationship problems that are spawned from misunderstandings and jealousy. Both of these series also have realism in which situations are present in every day's lives. It revolves around the struggle of a relationship and how to solve problems together through tough times.

Both anime are about friendship and romance. How hard things can get and how difficult it is to survive through it all. Both are amazing shows :) 

I loved both of these anime series. Both have a mature romance, a lot of drama, and a touch of comedy too. Both protagonists have rivals trying to steal their boyfriends. Well, I truly recommend them if you like romance anime with drama. ^^ 

Both have romance and complicated love triangles, both addicting to watch, funny! 

ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTIONS. Leaving you speechless every episodes, ofc it has a little romance and alot of drama 

They are very similar: * Both are Josei, Slice of life, drama * The two male protagonists from SNA are like the female protagonists from Nana, being great friends even with their differences. * The love story in both have realism and conflicts (but I think there are more conflicts in Nana) * They are about music I'm sure if you like one you'll like the other. 

Both are about music, and characters who have to deal with complicated love stories and familial issues, as well as being rejected by society. Both also show a strong friendship between two main characters who are totally the opposite but actually closer than with anyone else, and who can support each others in difficult times. 

Both are about music and finding more about yourself. 

Both series are about music dealing with friendship, rivalry, and love complications. Both series has a josei type of feeling. Both series has drama with complicated storyline. Both series has a great pace of story. Both series contain interesting characters. Both series explores the realism of a love and music. Both series are a must-watch. 

Music theme, drama and a lot of feelings and love 

Two romantic drama shows with music as a main theme. Both shows have a rather realistic feel to them and approaches relationships and romances in a mature and realistic way. Nana is a bit longer and I liked it more, but both shows are worth the watch and similar in many ways.  

- Both are more serious animes - They show us a 'slice of life' (this isn't the genre haha) of the characters, their choices, and the consequences of it - They are very focused on friendship and music, and both have amazing musics - These animes are like a real-life feeling, I don't know how to explain, but if you like mature animes, go ahead! 

They are both romantic dramas with some comedy that have to deal with music and deep relationships with others. Both are amazing in my opinion. I highly reccomend both...NANA for the more serious and dramatic and Nodame Cantabile for a little more comedy. 

Both series has josei like artwork and contains music as a major theme. Both series features drama as well as romance presented in a more realistic way. Both series has a similar style that details every day life whether at school or with the band/choir group.  

If you're looking for romance with adult students it may be perfect for u. 

Similar setup as both Josei are slice of life that shows young adults instead of high schoolers, both deals with music, especially for Nodame Cantabile. Nana Komatsu is somewhat similar to Nodame as they are great leads that are optimistic and exceed to share their (usually joyful moods) to the spectator. Both are pretty good comedy at the beginning Nana however has a drastic shift in the middle that turn it into a drama. 

Both are romances with realistic slife of life depiction of the life of young professional musicians building a career. The degree of realism is higher in Nana, and the 2nd half has a tonal shift towards more tragedy drama, while Nodame remains relaxed and easy despite dramatic moments. Both have an ensemble cast of different musician characters with own individuality. Nana is a little rogher, not the least because it features rock musicians, while Nodame takes place on the campus of a classical music college. 

the music in both of them are god-made, if one of them doesn't make you cry like B-word that you are, the other one sure will. bro, do yourselves a favor & go bless urself with these! hope ya have 𝓕𝓤𝓝 anyways! 

Both shows are centered around music, drama, and romance. The music in both these shows is excellent. The stories are both engaging and depict fairly realistic situations. There are some comedy and light-hearted situations throughout the story to help balance out the drama. If you enjoyed the drama, music, and romance in Nana, I would highly recommend these shows to you.  

Another Shoujo anime in a similar style, only this one deals more with music and the relationship between two girls and their struggles with love and life, one a band member and the other an ordinary girl. 

Similar art and style shoujos about female lead characters struggling to make it in the entertainment industry, learning about love and themselves along the way. Skip Beat might be consdidered a little less dramatic and more light hearted, but if you love one then you will assurdedly enjoy the other. 

Skip Beat! and Nana have the same storyline and have the same kinda genre (romance and drama). They both have a main female characters who were left behind by their boyfriends, and want to get revenge by becoming famous. Both are struggling to achieve their goals. Nana is more about music, while Skip Beat is more about acting. I'd prefer Nana though, but Skip Beat is also okay. 

Both Nana's (NANA) and Kyoko (Skip Beat!) are trying to move up in the world with their careers, as well as finding love along the way. 

Both series contain a female protagonist who is strong minded and trying to make their dream into a reality. Both series has tons of comedy, drama, and romance. While Nana is more of the mature side, Skip Beat also has its serious moments in the stage of showbiz. Ultimately, it deals with characters growing up and learning how to get through life. These two series are quite enjoyable for those into the more dramatic side of anime as they shows that explicitly every episode through its execution.  

Both are entertainment related stories with romance in it,strong punkish female leads and also lots of great art and character designs and great music as well too. 

I think Skip beat is an underrated shoujo anime, if you like shoujo and you love Nana i highly recommend you to watch Skip beat and also read the manga, both of them are romance, slice of life but Skip beat is more funny and has more comedy.S Its about a girl who wants to become an actress to take revenge on her ex boyfriend who is an Idol.  

Both anime have a powerful focus on romance, character development ,drama and music. Also both are fantastic watches and are a nice change of pace from the current popular shows. If you enjoyed one I hope you can give the other a shot.  

I really want to recomment who loves Given will take a chance to watch Nana. Both series focus on suffering in love, toxic relationship and tragic love. When i heard Kizuato(Given's Op) by Centimilimental, not only Mafuyu's stories, I also felt Nana's stories inside the lyrics, it made my heart feel skipped a beat. I really hope both Nana and Mafuyu could move on in the future. 

Both are romance music themed stories, has lgbt elements in it and also lots of pain and drama in it as well too. 

If you loved Nana or Given, you will love the other. I'd even be bold enough to say the writer of Given was inspired by the Nana manga or other Nana media, which is not a bad thing at all. While Nana is a sprawling classic with 47 episodes vs. Given with 11 episodes, both shows use similar story telling and settings and Given manages to not feel too cramped by the shorter runtime. Both shows begin with a chance meeting which changes the lives of the characters, feature complex characters with complicated and even obscured backgrounds, slice-of-life scenes abound, rock bands starting from near the bottom, groupies, drama, secrets, and romance abound. Differences - While Nana's cast is entirely adult and hetero/bi-curious, Given has a cross section of bi/gay young adults and older teens for the main cast. Nana has a longer run, so more story is able to be told and pacing is able to relax, while Given received the more-and-more common 11 episodes, so we're not able to see the story progress beyond the band getting noticed. In Nana and Given, romance is omnipresent in every episode in one fashion or another, but we spend much less time with the lead in for these relationships vs. Given. Nana's art is more detailed overall, but leans much more heavily on still backgrounds than Given (if that's something you are passionate about). read more

I would recommend Nana to anyone who enjoyed Given because they are both music anime and they both include 2 characters with a complex wholesome relationship. The same feelings of the joy of friendship, the complications of life and overall relaxing tone is reflected in both series. In Nana the 2 main characters have a platonic relationship unlike given, however the bond the 2 characters in nana share made me fell the same as a romantic one. Also Nana has superrrr cool outfits and great music too! lots of punk and vivienne  

Both Nana and Given have profound touches on tragic romance. The romance is also a change of pace from your usual love story since they both portray romance realistically. Characters behave and feel like real people. Music is also central theme in both stories and served as a powerful catalyst in plot progression. Both can also be funny and sweet, enough to make you grin like crazy while watching. If you liked Nana, then Given is definitely worth a try. 

Nana feels like the love-child of Beck and Honey & Clover. If you liked Nana, I'd suggest Honey & Clover if you liked the coming of age, slice of life, romance/drama aspects of Nana. And vice versa. =)

hachimitsu to clover has 2 seasons. i havent seen the second season yet but i must say, both are definitely the best drama/romance anime out there. both are centered more around drama than romance. while nana's main theme is music, hachimitsu to clover's (honey and clover in english) main theme is art. if you like one you will SURELY love the other. both have wonderful english dubs 

Both are mature Drama/Romance with similar age characters 

Both shows take a more serious and dark look at relationships than your average anime. Nana explores this through its myriad of multi-faceted relationships of all kinds (often romantic), while Kuzu no Honkai is a more tightly focused piece on the psychology of sex. Both are compelling and often tough to watch, in a good way (like an emotional human trainwreck). 

Both series are deeply rooted in drama that's edging on the verge of melodrama. Kuzu No Honkai (Scum's Wish) aims to rip apart the hollow pursuit of a perfect teenage love, and thus the majority of the focus is on romantic relationships. Nana, on the other hand, has a wider scope of focus, looking more at the struggles of interpersonal relationships, rather they be as friends or lovers, and the trappings of newfound independence for a young adult. Despite this difference, both series are relatively similar. Many characters in both series cause their own issues, rather it be for good-intentions, bad intentions, or out of ignorance. The 'main' character in both series (Though it's debatable which Nana is the main lead in that series) flitter from one relationship to another, their hearts fragile and their minds dulled, even if the dulling has different styles in both series. And both end up going down self-destructive paths, even if the depth and style of these paths differ (due to one being a teenage drama while the other focuses on young adults). Both series also have a character who has a sole, likewise self-destructive character who finds themselves attracted to the main character, and desperately wishing for a fulfillment of said desire. Both series also have a character that would likely be seen as an 'antagonist' once they're introduced, but as the series spends more time with them we discover more and more that these 'vile' characters are vile for shockingly human reasons, even if they're not necessarily directly relatable reasons. Both series are VERY introspective with their characters. Nana slips into this more and more as the series progresses, while Kuzu No Honkai is very consistent with this style of analysis. Both series also have amazing musical scores, though Nana's is Mid-2000's J-Rock and Punk while Kuzu no Honkai's is considerably less aggressive and leans more toward Mid-2010's J-Pop. read more

both anime deal with romance and drama in a very realistic way. They both show the flaws of each character and the rawest, darkest, and sometimes despicable desires people have. both anime are amazing and have characters that you can relate to much more than any other typical shojo anime. 

Drama, romance, angst... Shoujo all the way! They're both serious and on the soapy side, with nice artwork and realistic characters. 

The drama and romance are very similar. They are both extremely heart-breaking. However, NANA is longer and therefore it is more dramatic and heart-breaking. They both also have some humor. 

They are both very dramatic and both have a very good grasp of a deep manga. Bokura ga ita is more of a highschool story and NANA is more mature but I think they are both very good and people would enjoy both of them. 

The similarities are complicated. When I finished NANA I couldn't stop thinking about the feeling that Bokura Ga Ita caused me, it is perfect if you like drama. 

The style is very different, but both have music, love and a lot of drama. 

Both series revolves around a female protagonist following her dream and trying to make a name in the music industry. Nana has more mature themes while Full Moon has more comedy. However, both series contains drama that deals with many of the events that brings their dream closer but also with tragedy and sorrow. Both series has comedy, drama, and romance themes with misunderstandings, trials, and emotions. 

Like Nana, the protagonist, Misaki wants more than anything to become a singer if it is the last thing she does. Although Nana is a much more mature anime, I found them both really enjoyable and emotionally moving. 

Both are romance themed stories that focusing around an aspiring musician and the friendships she makes along the way and both have a sad and downbeat kind of feel to the story tone in it as well too. 

Both show the struggle in making a band/making it big. Also both have romace. One of the difference would be that nana focuses a lot more on the relationship aspects. 

Both have elements of music and romance. Kaikan Phrase, it centers around Bishounen (Beautiful males) while Nana centers aruond women and their relationships. Kaikan Phrase show more of the Japanese Pop-Rock or J-rock scene then punk. Kaikan phrase outlines the difficulties met by a band called Lucifer, a chronicle of their journey to becoming succesful and the hardships that come afterward. You have romance, deceit, betrayal, lust, love. All wrapped up in a convenient show. Animation is older, but well worth watching. 

The top is always hardest to get to because once you're up, you have to process how to get down as well. However, with these two there is no coming back down because the top is where they feel they belong most and the one driving them to these extents is the power of their love for music. The music presented is great and the characters all have their individual special traits that you can both pick apart and love.  

We have a music anime that is very focused in showing the hardship of getting popular within music in Kaikan Phrase while still having time to show hardships in relationships and everything that go along with it. In Nana it focuses more on relationships at first, and then the music world - and the hardships that go along with that. Chances are you watched Nana, and if you do I recommend you to look up Kaikan Phrase. They feel very similar even though it has a male main cast. Kaikan Phrase does not have the most modern animation quality as it is from the early 2000's, but I hope you will give it a shot - as it is definetly worth your time. read more 

I know its sounds totally crazy but these two have some basic similarities. First is that there are characters wanting to achieve a dream.Second both animes have romance and slight humor. Third both animes have that feeling in the end of the episode where you cannot stop you curiosity to know what will happen in the next episode.  

Although both series relates to different themes, Nana and Bakuman follows the idea of pursuing a dream and making it into a reality. Both series has a great story with two prominent main characters who tells them. Both series has drama, comedy, romance, and detailing what they do in their every day lives. Nana falls more into the mature theme while Bakuman is more lighthearted. However, both series are realistic and conveys on what people believes in. Learning about what you like is one thing, mastering it is another. 

Both are ya stories focusing on the characters achieving dreams as well as also some romance thrown in it as well too. 

Nana is basically the better version of Fukumenkei Noise. While heading more towards the j-rock genre instead of the alternative genre like Fukumenkei Noise, you're still getting female leads and love triangles and angst, except all of the characters in Nana have a lot more dimension and everything feels more put together. 

They get to see their past love again. They are also Great Female Vocalist ^.^ 

Both focus on a ya cast has romance especially love triangles in it as well as a music themed story too. 

Most people would say there not the same but Both of them have a deep love story behide them and alot of tragedy . both will make you laugh , cry and make you feel connected to them 

Both series are explorations into what it means to be in a relationship and what it takes to make it work amidst the turmoil that is life. They're both quite well developed in their characters and in their faithful portrayal of the ups and downs of love. If you like Nana, you should watch Clannad for the back-story then watch Clannad After Story and enjoy the soul-crushing void that comes with it. If you're in a relationship, or were in one where things didn't exactly go according to plan, or even if they did, you will be able to appreciate both Nana and Clannad After Story for all they have to offer. read more 

Both deal with life and shows the impact of relationships within these incredible stories. 

The type of comedy in LoveCom reminded me of Nana. I also think Hachi & Risa are quite similar at times (both are usually cheerful and a bit silly). Both anime are shoujo and have plenty of romance, even though LoveCom is more comedy-centered, and Nana is more dramatic and mature. 

To put it simply nana is like a darker more mature (you'd have to be 18+ to watch on hulu) Version of Lovecom. Both follow a girl in her expedition to find love. with a best friend whom cheers her on and cares for her. Some aspects that you might like is that both anime are FUNNY, Insightful, Tear-jerking and very much so loveable. If you're looking an anime like LoveCom you will definitely find it in Nana! 

For those that like the more comedic side of Nana, this is a good choice A shorter anime that's less Heavy and has some loveable characters as well But thats not to say it doesnt have its own share of drama added This is probably the easier anime for most casual romance fans to watch, since it has a faster start than Nana  

Really twisted, f#@ked up love stories. They're twisted in the sense that everything is all cute and honky dory and all the characters are getting along at first, but then pretty much everyone becomes an asshole over time and the whole love story (or stories) becomes very dark, depressing, and dramatic ("dramatic" is an understatement) If you even remotely enjoyed School Days, Nana is perfect for you. 

Both are somber romance stories with love triangles and good art and memorable character designs as well as also nice music in it as well too. 

Both are slice-of-life series with female protagonists who are extremely close friends and have lots of lesbian undertones. Both feature main characters who are in a band, and both series center on rock and feature references to Western rock-stars. Also both series have a cute but naive main character who has short, brown hair and does extremely stupid things. 

Both are focused around making success in the band moments of drama here and there and of course the most important element of them all the friendship that develops between the characters as time goes by too.  

Both music anime about the process of creating a band. I'd recommend Fuuka to anyone who struggled with the seriousness of Nana. Fuuka would be the Highschool equivalent to Nana. 

Deals with a rock band and the relationships as they try to make it. 

Both have moments of lgbt romance in it here and there and both feature lots of angsty pain and lots of sad emotional moments I'm certain many viewers could relate too and both feature two characters from polar opposite worlds, that grow quite close as time goes by.  

Depressing  

NANA and White Album 2 both leave the viewer with so much agony and sadness. I personally cried my eyeballs out watching both. Moreover, both have amazing music groups, heartbreaking love stories that leaves you feeling unsatisfied and extremely cruel reality checks. The only difference is that White Album 2 has a way much better ending in terms of story. Great drama/romance going on through out the whole anime. 

Both animes focus on music , and although Nana may be more mature and realistic, White Album 2 also shows the complexity of relationships among the teenage characters of the series. Both are fantastic in terms of soundtrack as well. 

Both anime are about unlikely and very strong friendship of two very different people. Both deal with how this friendship interjects protagonists' other relationships and life of professional performer (musician or rakugoka, respective). Finally, both ask fundamentally the same question about this friendship. 

i find both of these shows similar in scope, and mature subject matter. while each have their own stories, i find parallels of fame, relationships, and friendships. nana's driving force is music, and rakugo's being storytelling. so if you dig nana, you might find rakugo enjoyable? or not? but give it a shot. 

Chihayafuru and Nana are Josei series (yes, Nana IS Josei) which contain strong female leads. Despite being from different genres, (Chihayafuru is sport and Nana is music)Chihaya Ayase from Chihayafuru and Nana Osaki from Nana are both determined to achieve goals set for themselves from since a young age. Even with challenging situations and relationships in their lives, they push forward. Overall, the two anime portray the feelings of their respective characters perfectly, whether it's happiness, vulnerability or sadness.  

If you like general atmosphere of any of those animes you will like the other one. Deep thoughts about romantic relationship, life and what one is striving to be in life are the questions that are popping up in my head after watching those animes. Also, both are real and relatable - greatly presenting all human emotions (love, jealousy, happiness etc.). If you want emotional anime with great story and characters please watch these two. While Chihayafuru is more cheerful (and feel good anime) one Nana is more dark/realistic as the focus is on young adults 20years old and struggles of adult life. My first recommendation hope it will inspire someone to give each anime shot.  read more 

Both anime have unbelievably strong resemblance. Especially the characters, even 2 characters are almost of same nature of the lead characters of NANA. Both anime deal with the building of relationship,trust and betrayals  

i'd say both shows deal with romance in a somewhat mature and realistic way. and they both have Nana in them. nuff said... 

In both Nana and 5 cm, nothing really goes as planned. They also talk a lot about desire and longing to be with someone and as much as they wish, they just can't be together. Both also talk about the pain involved with desire for another. Nana goes much more in depth in many other aspects as well such as relationship dilemmas and real life issues but that is to be expected since it is 47 episodes while 5 cm is only 3 parts. However, both will incite deep and real emotions. 

Both are bittersweet love stories between the characters and it focuses on the harsh relalties of life where the characters desires and goals are just maybe not meant to really be happening in the first place.  

Both anime's have to do with the rise to fame in the music industry, romance, and the pitfalls and responsibilities of being famous.  

Both series deals with romance that is quite realistic and presented in a more mature way than the typical shoujo style series. But that's not all..because music plays a key theme in both Nana and White Album. Both series has comedy (less so in White Album), a lot of drama, romance, and a female protagonist who hopes to make their name known in the music industry through hard work and determination. Again, both series are quite realistic and generally aimed at more mature audiences. 

The idea of starting from the bottom to rise to the top is present in both Rainbow, which features inmates of a reformatory striving for success in the real world, and Nana, where Nana Osaki strives to reach mainstream success. The sub-storyline most similar to Nana is that of Yokosuka Joh who has raw musical talent and strives to make it to the top. 

I think both stories are very human. Imo most of Ai Yazawas work is very human, all of her work is worth taking a look at if you ask me. 

Both have a heavy focus on romance, while NANA is targeted towards a more adult audience (Josei). Both shows have a tendency of invoking sorrow within the viewer. 

Both have lesbian moments in it and also both have quite a bit of melodrama too and both can be slowburners but a good take on romance too. 

Otona Joshi no Anime Time and Nana both focus on the inner lives of adult women, using a narrator as a way to complicate simple actions and to explain to or frustrate the viewer. Otona Joshi is an anthology, while Nana is driven by one of two characters the entire time, but the examinations of obligation to loved ones, self-imposed isolation, and traditional roles of women are not only examined in both, but seem to share a similar sense of value. Nana is just more upfront, probably due to the longer run time.  

While these two shows differ slightly in tone and plot, they both cover a unique period of life. Both are romantic dramas that begin with reflections on high school life but primarily focus on main characters in their early twenties. Nana follows two women as they navigate relationships of all kinds while Rumbling Hearts/Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is about a young man struggling with his romantic options and mental health. The thing I loved about both shows was how real the characters and the choices they make are. Definitely watch these if you want something so real it hurts. Because, believe me, both endings will leave you feeling hurt. read more 

In my opinion Nana is definitely similar to Itazura na Kiss. Itazura na Kiss follows the life of Kotoko from her high school years to adulthood as with Nana. Also, i feel the main girl characters (Nana (Haichi) and Kotoko) are very similar for their "clumsy but keeps trying" attitude. Indeed there is a lot of drama in both, however Nana uses that drama and brings it to a next level. It is Itazura na Kiss in a more mature way. I had heartaches and heart warms through watching both of these amazing anime series. I was really surprised to find only ONE recommendation of Nana to Itazura Na Kiss since this is the first anime that pops into my head when i think of the two. I truly truly hope whoever reads this will watch the amazing anime Nana and realize how similar the two are :) ~ Ja Ne~ read more 

Okay, so one is an avant-garde sci-fi retelling of a literary classic and the other is a shoujou grounded in reality. What kind of similarities could possibly exist? Quite a few actually. First and foremost, both shows are about things not going the way you want them to go, not only for the characters, but for the audience. Boasting wide casts of characters, all with unique, separate motives, both shows will find you rooting for one character, only to have you question whether their motives were just in the first place. You'll thus switch allegiances only to find yourself in the same cycle again and again. However, in the end, you will unfortunately realize that nobody will leave this situation in a better position than the one they came into it with. These shows reaffirm that life is tough and even fiction doesn't always conform to your desires or expectations. Outside of this primary similarity, both shows are written with many cliff-hangers and hold crucial information from the viewer until a well-built dramatic reveal. I can't promise that if you like one, you'll like another, but if you loved how bittersweet either Gankutsuou or Nana is and are tired of formulaic stores, the opposite show is at least worth your time. read more 

I watched Nana long time ago , and now I know I wanted this one to watch after that. It could be used as reversed, although NANA is more harsh , I felt the same after watching each of them.
