Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu

Both in "Chrome Shelled Regios" and in "Densetsu no yuusha no densetsu", the hero is a boy, who, in the beginning, is trying to hide his past and exceptional abilities (tenken-user, alpha stigma) playing the dumb, pretending to be unintrested, slow and unskilled. Other similarities seem to be the fantastic setting, the presence of the fantastic itself (the mysterious regious and their spirits and monsters the student-soldiers are fighting against, magic), organizations of selected fighters (tenken-users, orphanage training soldier-magicians) and smaller groups of friends of the hero who are operating together, and finally (there might be more, but I will just leave it at that for now), a strong leader among the student of the academy themselves (Loss, Shion). The latter series has aired only 2 episodes yet, so I cannot really tell, but I suppose that if you like one, you might like (or at least check out) the other. ^^ read more

The character design is very similar to DNYND, and both the main character don't really like to show off their powers. Also, in the same way that Alfon Alseif is being manipulated by the President there, Kalian Ross, Reiner Lute from DNYND is also being manipulated by the king, Sion Astal, to find the Hero relics.
Both are very good shows, although the ending of DNYND suggests that the series hasn't ended yet.

First of all Both main characters would rather not use their power, and secondly both animes contain slightly supernatural fighting. Legend has more us of powers though, but either way if you can make it through the first 3 episodes of legends or chrome shelled regios you'll be addicted.
-Both main charecters are very OP (overpowered)
Legend is more sad, while chrome is more of a fun action with a less deep story.
overall both are a good 8-9/10 anime if you can get into them maybe even a 10.

CSR and DenYuuDen are similar due to the fact that both main characters have a dark past and they try to hide it, Both are Action,Comedy and adventure along with strong main characters. If you liked one, try the other.

Both protagonists are very powerful people Ryner Lute(Alpha Stigma bearer) Layfon Alseif(One of the heavenly sword weilders). Both want nothing to do with fighting and want to be left alone. Both have a friend that has high status in CSR (chairman) in DYD (king). Both have a girl that is likes them but won't admit it. Both have good OP songs. 
Both are packed with loads of action and cool fighting scenes.
Huge display of power from both protagonists and other characters.

Both boy protagonists are very strong. Instead of making use of that power, they decide to live an easy life where you dont need to fight to survive. They both get forced to join the fight platoons where they will be fighting strong beasts/magic users. They are both relaxing/interesting anime, I highly recommend it.

Male MC's are trying to hide their true power and live their lives free of troubles. This of course doesn't happen and instead they get into trouble and fight prety often. Both male leads are somehow exiled from their home city/country.

- Well, both are from the same creators and feature strong main leads.
- The main character is pretty strong but doesn't want to fight.
-  Both of the main characters is supported by a strong female lead that cares for him.
-  Both shows leave you hoping that there will be a second season. 

Do you like awesome powers? Do you like a protagonist that initially tries to hide his amazing abilities? Do you like fights between awesome power users? Do you like some minor drama and character growth with your super powered protagonist's? Do you like a female lead who's also pretty awesome? Well if all of these above or just a few of them sound like an anime you would like to see.

Legend of Legendary Heroes is Berserk lite. It doesnt have the same level of violence, profanity, grit, philosophy, or insanity as Berserk, but the plot and character dynamics are very similar. Legend of Legendary Heroes never gets as hardcore as Berserk but things get surprisingly intense and there are some heavy moments - dont let the title or beginning of the series fool you

Berserk and Densetsu share many similarities, most notably having an ambitious silver haired main character who want to be king. Both shows deal with betrayal and friendship. Both highly recommended for people who enjoy action shows with a dark theme.

Shockingly feels so similar and yet has it's distinct similarities to give it that new refreshing feel.

From friends becoming enemies, to the main character becoming known as a monster and suffering from hard times. If you liked Berserk then you'll definitely like Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu.

Similairites:
+ The main two main male protagonists have almost identical relationships throughout the shows
+ Set in similar medieval worlds dealing with wars, men striving to become king, and some supernatural elements
+ While Berserk definitely has many more, both have dark and gory moments
+ End on two of the biggest cliffhangers in anime history

Differences:
- Legend of the Legendary Heroes has comedy as well as drama whereas Berserk is just all drama
- The female protagonists are a little different in personality and relationship to the secondary male protagonist
- Berserk is much more mature and graphic especially in sexual content

Imagine Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu without "magical eyes", JRPG designs, ideas like "the one who yells louder wins", tsundere women and stupid idealism (hi Sion). You with me so far? Now, imagine Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu where there are dozens of great warriors like Ryner on both sides, where political intrigues, plots and schemes are far from uncommon. Imagine battles of epic proportions and war on the medieval fantasy world, where winning side is decided only by commanders intelligence, number of troops, their morale and available resources, not superpowers like Alpha Stigma. Do this and you've invented Berserk.

(This is mostly for people who've watched Code Geass) 

There are similarities in plot (with one character seeking revenge against a member of the royal family) and characters (Ferris' dango is C.C.'s pizza). They are a bit different but the political elements common in both series might mean those who like Code Geass might enjoy Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu (The Legend of the Legendary Heroes - don't let the title put you off), although it doesn't start out as serious as Code Geass, but once the characters are explored a bit it does so.

The biggest similarity which might mean fans of either series would enjoy the other is that a main character must contemplate the sacrifices he must make in order to change the world, like in Death Note. One thing you should know before you start the series is that it appears the anime has lasted only one season and in that time hasn't covered the whole story in the light novel series it is based on. read more

Even if these animes are not similar in concept they give you the same feeling. In both animes the protagonists have special eyes and both are bored of the kind of life they are living. Both are interesting to watch and have a high re-watch chance for me:3

Both animes  followed  journeys of protagonists who have same ability and badass fighting scenes those made you exciting very much. Additional,both protagonists are voiced by same seiyuu(Jun Fukuyama)  who voiced a plenty of legendary badass male characters.

The art is similar, and the plot involves people with special powers. The main girl uses a magical sword to fight and is always teasing and fighting with the main guy. The main guy had a painful childhood where he was despised and bullied by everyone, and also, he lost his first love. He also has a huge power inside him, and if that power stays out of control, he becomes evil. The symbol of that power is on his eyes.

they both have a swordsman girl as a comrade/ally

The relationship between the two main characters are almost identical. In both the animes the girl is hotheaded and always seems to be angry at the protagonist but actually likes him. Both protagonists are ridiculously strong and both the girls weild swords.

Both of these have a strong protagonist right from the start of the anime. Both protagonists have a dark/sad history. Both also anime have magic involved. Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu has a medieval fantasy setting while Kaze no Stigma has a modern setting.

Kaze no Stigma is very similar to Denetsu in that they both have strong male leads whom use magic and fight side by side with a female main character, they both are at time reluctant to fight and ostracized by the populous for their amazing strength

Both protagonists  have very laid-back personality and are very powerful, also both are outcasts and have very dark/ painful history's. The main girl in both is hot headed and uses a sword. Both have a very similar feel to them and are great to watch.

Dissimilarities:

The main chiquita in the other anime doesn't have any magical powers, but can be a real badass when push comes to shove, while the other has magical powers and has kissed the muchacho (male lead).

Akatsuki no Yona addpermalink

These two anime at first you think its just another generic anime and might even get turned off to watch them as AKA seems an otome anime and Denuyuuden a rpg adaptation, but don´t let them fool you, for they are nothing of that!!! They start as light hearted anime and slowly become darker going from slice of life to action and none centers around harem or reverse harem. 
These anime at first sight aren´t really alike, but then as you get to know the characters you realize there are some similarities:
- One is shoujo, the other is shonen but both have a trio of best friends as protagonists, being those two boys and a girl (group will be split for certain spoilerific reasons).
- While in Denuyuuden the use of magical powers is common, in Akatsuki no Yona magic is not common to everyone only to special warriors. 
- Both animes deal with reincarnation theme and present a happy go lucky girl (apparently), a spirited boy who likes the heroine and a gentle boy (apparently) who aims to be king and change the world no matter the sacrifices and for that creates conflict with his friends. 
So if you like good characters, hints of romance, LOTS OF ANGST near the end, and groupies of magic users, you should enjoy one or other although you must keep in mind that Denyuuden is a shonen so presents lot of action while Akatsuki is a shoujo so presents more comedy. read more

It's basically the same thing: a guy who doesn't want to do anything and just wants a normal life, but then they're stuck with a girl who is abusive and has to have everything go their way.  On the other hand, Kinji goes into h.s.s mode that makes him into a super cool genius, and Ryner just has natural talent with the help of his alpha stigma eyes

Both shows share similar plot structure where the main characters gather legendary or mythical weapons forged by well renowned weapon artisans and have their treasures scattered in various different regions just to be claimed by their chosen ones. Though Legendary^2 Heroes tends to stray from the premise, Katanagatari remained in its goal though both of them have the similar open-ended conclusion but indifferent proposition about their world's present time.

No, this recommendation is *NOT* because Legend of Legendary = Legend of Galactic. Going in, I was aware of the similarity between the titles and thought they ended there. They didn't.

Oberstein in Galactic and Miran in Legendary play the exact same role: convincing an initially idealistic king/commander to do evil for the sake of the greater good. Where as the rest of Reinhard & Sion's war councils wouldn't dream of using underhanded tactics and/or sacrificing innocents, Miran & Oberstein would do anything to bring about the required results. Their characters exist to bring out the darkness lingering behind idealism.

It's worth noting that in Legendary Miran ACTUALLY USES THE POWER OF DARKNESS, as well as dressing in a manner befitting of one with evil thoughts/intentions, but that's the only real difference between their characters. And, really, those sort of superficial differences just go with the SERIOUS sci fi vs. medieval fantasy genres.

They're both clichéd stories with a lazy and seemingly ordinary character who was granted great power for some random reason. As if you couldn't already hate the MC enough, he's surrounded by incredibly pretty girls due to his status. Also check Bible Black.

But both shows are enjoyable using comedy, good pacing, amazing art, sound and atmosphere to the fullest. Although cliché the plot is very well developed and carried out. Characters follow the trait and stereotypes and clichés apart, they're likable and enjoyable.

AKA: A very talented author with a peanut brain and some good advice from pros makes anything look good.

They both have a MC who does not like conflict and would rather then anything spend his days in a calm manner.
This however is usually not the case as both of them have an insane power hidden inside them which when going berserk is strong enough to whip out anything and everything they hold dear.

If you like Story's where the MC is bound by a power he can't control and the tragedy that cause him you will definitely like this.

Both series takes place in a fantasy world with an adventurous tone following the main characters and their journey. Throughout their journey, they encounter both allies and enemies. There is the the essence of magic and swordsplay used for combat methods. Yet, there are also other mysterious sources of power present in both series surrounded by mystery.

The main characters contrasts greatly but develop engrossing relationships with one another. It is through their journey that they learn more about their world and others. I recommend both series for people in the mood for some adventure.

Both are about the legend of a lonely demon. In both there is a King who is kind and as a best friend who serves him and helps him. Both follow a group of friends and a huge war against enemies in order to protect the place they live as well the two best friends who have to face many things to be able to trust each other and remain together. The animation is quite similar too.

I believe this two anime are really similar to each other. They have almost the same fantasy sitting not to mention action. Both anime have the idea of magic, heroes and legends. Also you can notice a bit more similarities as you watch both animes. However, even thou they both have the same ground of sittings, they still differ with their storyline and that what make it interesting and makes you anticipating and thinking of what might happen next.  :D

Both of these series start out with a simplistic, unsophisticated, and cliche feel to them, however after a few episodes in they develop into relatively original stories. Both of these series have an epic fantasy feel to them, and they involve magic systems that are not particularly imaginative or ground breaking, but are still relatively interesting. The characters don't develop enough depth to make you invest in their story, however they are interesting and creative enough to keep you engaged.

The bottom line is both these series have a similar setting, vibe and appearance, and while they do not have any particularly strong elements to them, are definitely a fun and interesting watch. read more

If you like where the main character is strong than you'll like this one. 

Similarities:
Both strong main leads.
It has a little bit of romance setting in it.
They both have to deal with powers to a certain extent.

Of course there are many differences such as the male lead in Mondaiji " just wants to have fun but in Densetsu " the male lead doesn't want any part of it. There is also the fact that they don't do it game style in Densetsu " but over all it has both many similarities and differences, but both are good.

Although the concepts are completely different the main characters are very similar. 
That being; Ryner & Houtarou want to spend most of their time doing a limited amount of things and being lazy. 
They are also both forced off their backsides by each of their own main heroines to do something useful with something that they don't tend to use too often.
For Houtarou his detective ability that he never really used because he is lazy like that and for Ryner his eyes that pretty over powered.

(Basically the story is completely different but the main characters have slight characteristics that make them similar)

First of all, both are MASTERPiECES. And although i love anime and i've watched over hundreds now, when i actually RATE them, i'm considerably harsh. But anyway, here are some similarities. By the way, there are some spoilers. :V
- best friend attempts to kill best friend in both. ( if Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu was continued, then yes, both would've been best friend KiLLED best friend. )
- main characters are attempting world peace.
- both main characters have some sort of powers via their eyes.
- there are more then one type of power via eyes, and more then one owner.
- Both animes have a girl obessesed with food- C.C loves pizza, Ferris loves dango. They're also both tsunderes.
- lots of fighting, oh god the fighting.
- main characters both go insane at some point.
- there is a redheaded, tomboyish girl in love with one of the main characters. 

There are also some differences, because if it was all the same, that'd be outright copying and also boring. 
-As mentioned above, in CG, best friends KiLLED best friends. in DnYnD, the best friends didn't finish killing one another.
-DnYnD, as great as it is, only has one season. It's kind of. . . lacking an ending, but humans have an imagination, dont they?
- Code Geass is set in the future, so they have mecha and all that- DnYnD is set in the past in a different world with magic- no mecha. Both still have kickass fighting scenes, though.

Both shows are like an adventure, they have a great and unpredictable plot, and they have a lot of comedy. The cast it's HUGE but all the characters are interesting and get some kind of development. Both can get gory sometimes. Both have a meh beginning but they pick up really fast and it seems like out of nowhere. And they have a good amount of action.

Both are a seemingly innocuous fantasy setting and end up getting really, really dark. They both have a really similar feel to them and create a completely false innocent first impression. They both heavilly emphasize the storyline/plot. etc. If you liked one im sure you wil like the other.

I liked them both. So maybe you'll like them both as well.

Unfortunately it's already been some time since I watched Desetsu Yuusha no Densetsu (DenYuuDen). As far is I remember it got some political stuff involved which also is the case in Gate (politics within the empire of the fantasys world and between Japan and that empire).

The male main characters were laid-back and cool guys. Ryner from DenYuuden often likes to take his afternoon nap even if there is other important stuff to do. Itami from Gate puts his hobbies (he is an Otaku) first.

They are still both responsible and to their job (they are soldiers) if needed. And they are pretty good at it and strong.

There is a lot of fighting and good action and nice secondary charakters. Gate is more focused on modern warfare with the Japanese army and their technology invading the fantasy empire. But you also get to see the old-style fantasy stuff of the empire. Magic is also a bit involved. DenYuuDen is heavily focused on magic. read more

if like one you'll sure enjoy another. Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu is darker than the rune soldier(Mahou Senshi Louie). Mahou Senshi Louie is more enjoyable than DnYD.

Both animes take place in a place where magic exists, but different time periods. Arthur much like Sion are kings that have been wronged by the world and want to make a change to the system. But much to everyones dismay, the kings have leaned themselves towards the shadows. In Divine Gate, Loki acts to Arthur as Lucile acts to Sion. They initially appear to be guides that help the charges find the path to their ideals, but slowly they realize that nothing will happen without a little intervention. In Divine Gate, the gate itself is the all powerful 'being' and in Legend of the Legendary Heroes, it is the power creator of all formulas and the solver of all formulas that is the major power.  read more

Two series that focus on the world of their titles and their leading characters survive the hiccups that appear before them. Both series don't use an "arc" based formula that many  manga and anime do but instead have multiple plots intertwined together to create a more complex narrative, that isn't always apparent but still compelling.

For someone who likes fantasy adventures that involve magic and warring kingdoms both anime are a good choice. For people that aren't to fond of this genre, they may still grow on you, because of some characters, the mature themes or the story twists.
But be warned they are also simular in their bad points like pasting and to many characters.

Despite being totally different genres they have a lot in common.

1- Both shows have a lot of comedy despite having serious plot or moments.
2- The male MC have a female partner and their relationships are pretty similar in both shows.
3- The MCs are a lazy trolls that loves to fool around (tho they do it in different ways) and their partners push them around to do stuff.
4- The "couples" have great chemistry.
5- Both partners of the MCs are kinda tsundere. 
6- The supporting cast is interesting and likeable.
7- Character development it's important in both show.
8- Despite their personalities both MCs tend to close their hearts and they play dumb towards the feelings of their partners.
9- Both shows have action scenes.

First of all, both animes are mature(Rated 17+), with about the same level of violence and gore. Shingeki no kyoujin prooves to have a little more hostile world though.
secondly, both main characters are treated as monsters for having the power that sometimes they can't control. And both of them are somewhat used as weapons to fight against their nation's ennemy.

Like to travel in different beautiful places? Both have several grand landscape backgrounds that the main characters adventured through the roads and visits from town to town. Though there are conflicts when it comes to politics, or something that is halting the main characters to achieve it's goal. Swords and magic were used as combat to fight people or monsters. 

The difference is that Symphonia is an OVA series follow by two sequels, and a huge party member fight. Densetsu no Yuusha is a full series, some mature contents and supernatural themes, and consist a small group party members.

For a start the characters have pretty much the same name. Both have grown up being an outcast and thought of as odd. In reality they each have a unique ability/something only they can do. There is action in both, more action in Broken Blade, but still action and epicness. They both have a blonde who likes them and both are friends with the king. This show is still really awsome! :)

Two action, funny anime that are enjoyable fast paced stories. If you like anime with many different story-lines happening all at once, as well as flashbacks, then try both; if you liked one I'm sure you'll like the other. Densetsu is more of fantasy-magic and Baccano! is more supernatural but their are similarities in the characters of the two shows.

Reikenzan felt like a more comical, lighthearted version of Legend of Legendary heros. Its does well balancing lightheartedness with action, adventure, and comedy. Similarly, it has a strong focus on the main character training to become better as well as learning from masters. Also, the MC is super smart and OP as hell. One thing though is its not as much adventure as Legend of Legendary heros

Both shows possess a similar tone and animation style. Just as Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu can quickly transition from silly and fun to serious and bloody, To Aru Majutsu no Index also does the same by looking like a seemingly kiddy moe series but in fact is a great violent show that would even include male to female violence. In addition, the way how both shows get bloody are the same by the additional usage of shadow background.

Both anime are engaged in war. Both main characters have to fulfill their destiny.  Arslan and Ryner Lute have loyal and caring companions that oversee them.  Both needed to have a justifiable ending that such wonderful stories deserve.

If you really like the fantasy/magic & fight  elements of Utawarerumono --while the two aren't THAT similar as some other series--- I highly recommend giving Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu a try.

Both have a similar theme of "characters banding together for a certain cause" yet both have a strange "dark secret under the main plot"

- The heroine is a glutton and likes to beat the main hero.
- One of the "good" guys who is very friendly has ulterior motives and it has to make a hard decision concerning the life of his best friend.
- Best friends turning into enemies. 
- Angst, reincarnation, romance, adventure, tears and twists. 
- You have to read the manga to know what really happens.

And the main characters in both anime have almost the same characteristic features. The drama and romance has almost the same impression. If you like one I really recommend you to watch the other.

They are pretty similar when it comes to hero's and having magical abilities.  As well one of the main character's of Fate/Stay Night who's name is Saber, acts a little like Ferris, with the sword, and the personality. For the boy main character's Shirou and Ryner both have a mark on them that they both bury upon on. Ryner with the cursed eye, and Shirou with a magical mark on his hand.

Alpha Stigma bearers are often shunned and called "monsters" as once they go berserk and lose their sanity, they will start killing and destroying indiscriminately and never to return to their senses again.

Overpowered main characters who use their brain, magic incantations, and magic-related school reside in both of these joy rides.  If you enjoy the whole pizzazz of heroes using unrivaled magic to overcome obstacles, make sure to try the other.  
Densetsu has more of an adventurous atmosphere while Seiken Tsukai has more of a mushy, kawaii change of pace.
