CANAAN and Black Lagoon have very much the same feel to it. Both the main characters are bad-ass women with guns with a lot of good action, both series are mainly located in a urban city in China and are well illustrated. They both have a sense of dark organizations doing things behind the scene, though Black Lagoon has it less and doesn't have any fiction things (like non existing viruses and such) CANAAN and Black Lagoon are both very awesome series to watch if you like action and gunfights.

They have a similar sort of mystery/action thing going for them, though the pacing is quicker in Canaan, and the mystery is more... well, mysterious for Darker than Black.

Action-filled, female main characters and gun-filled. Has crazy characters, silent characters etc. You should really look it up if you like this anime.

Both are full of action, and have a great story. There's a strong relationship between the 2 main characters, you can almost say they really love each other. Yuri-like, but it's not yuri at all. The character development in both these anime will make you cry. They both have a strong first and second episode, followed by one of the most sad endings. If you liked the one, you'll definitely like the other.

Girls with guns. Both lead characters look similiar, have special abilities, and protect their not so skilled friend. Both use weapons for their professions.

Both are about women, who are natural born killers. Both of them despite of their future seek for normality.

Both have the hardcore girls with guns aspect as well as a bit of sci-fi or mysticism.

Both produced by TYPE-MOON. The character designs of Shiki and Canaan are VERY similar -- they even both have special abilities using their eyes! Also, both anime contain lots of blood and very stylized fights (jumping from rooftops, etc.). Although, Shiki uses a knife and Canaan uses a gun.

The plots are kinda alike, both are about military and organizations, and both take place at Shangai. By the way the supernatural powers of the main characters remind a little (just a little, but worth mentioning) of Canaan's synesthesia. Also action scenes are pretty good on both

The both give me the same feeling when watching them. Same Assassins with "inhuman" abilities concept. Also the animation is very simillar.

Random simplistic story but with awesome animation!

Similarities Both have situations where one must take pills in order to survive Cute girls Both need to beat people that are clearly stronger No one is to overpowered Dissimailarities The plot is completely different. Canaan requires the use of guns and pure strength but Brynhildr is witches

Both main charcthers are women who have suddenly acquired a supernatural ability that helps them with their job, which is killing, and the male leads in both series are pretty much useless. Both have action in them that usually is with the main charcther having to fight against a large group, and both can be dark but where Canaan is only dark a minority of the time,Claymore is dark pretty much the whole series with nothing to lighten up the mood.

Similar world in both shows (Not so much No. 6 itself but the west block strikes me as kinda similar to the village in Canaan) Also there are a lot of yaoi undertones between Negumi and Shion in No. 6 which are kinda similar to the yuri undertones between... Every character in Canaan.

In terms of context, both have something to do with human experimentation although using different techniques. The main character of each show (Canaan & Ash) are both overpowered and really good at uh what they do. The other main characters who form a strong bond with the OP people are Maria who is accompanied by Minoru, just like Eiji who is accompanied by Ibe. All four of them are photographers from Japan going to a foreign country to try to capture something interesting. Although they have other similarities, what really makes me think of the other anime is the bond that Ash has with Eiji & the  read more

Although the 2 dabble in different areas (Mnemosyne has more supernatural elements; Canaan has a bigger focus on scientific things), both have a very similar vibe to them, both have a lot of action, both are roughly the same length (while they may not have the same number of episodes, both will take you roughly the same amount of time to watch), both feature a lot of action, and both can be somewhat graphic at times (although Mnemosyne is much more graphic than Canaan).

Fantastic gun action from female protagonist and rival on the opposite force; set against a government conspiracy with a GL storyline on the side.

Both are slightly brutal, both have first episodes that are hard to understand... but both are awesome beyond belief

This show about assassins has a similar feel, I think Great Pretender fans will like it.

Both are action shows with a lot of government involvement and super humans. Also, both have human experimentation in them, but Canaan is a seinen whereas FMA:B is a shounen.

Triangle Heart: Sweet Songs Forever and Canaan both involve their respective leads having to stop a terrorist plot, while reigniting childhood friendships and coming to terms with what made them who they are. Interestingly, albeit ultimately of little importance, they both feature China as a setting in some capacity (it's central to Canaan but only brief scenes in TH: SSF). I think if you liked the setup and pacing of one, you might find the other worth your time; I would say Canaan is the more developed of the two (the longer total runtime definitely helps) but Triangle Heart: Sweet Songs Forever is worthwhile as  read more

Both use the same art style and involve fast-paced action and dark plot lines. Though Fate/Zero can be considered more powerful.

Both animes are about professional assasins, secret missions and stuff Both are pretty brutal and serious

This show has a great story with some amazing characters and it has some great action scenes on top of that. the anime has the most amazing female characters i have seen, second to Revy of course. I would full-heartedly recommend this anime if liked Black Lagoon. (if u didnt like black lagoon why are u reading this?)

-Canaan is similar to Tokaku in terms of, they both carry weapons and will kill people, not only that, but also, they protect a girl. In Canaan's case its Maria, while in Tokaku's case its Haru. -Both Canaan and Tokaku are fighting against girls/women.

The two series' protagonists have identical personalities, physical abilities, special ability and similar appearance. There're some slight differences: 1/ Difference in eyes colors while activating their abilities. Shiki's eyes glows blue, while Canaan's turn red. 2/ Shiki uses katana and knives, while Canaan uses mostly gun 3/ They wear different styles of clothing. Shiki wears a combine of traditional and western while Canaan wear modern style only.

More super soldier action drama that goes without the inclusion of all-too-convenient magic. Similarly impressive kinetic animation. Canaan has greater detail given its time and tech, but maybe not as much fluidity. One disappointment is that no one is a true brute in Canaan. No trucks being crushed under the force of a diving punch.

Powerful organizations target the main characters. Conspiracies/terrible secrets are uncovered. While Steins;Gate deals with time-travel theories, avoiding world domination, and preventing death (and a serious love story), Canaan explores a past involving human experimentation, rivalry, and loss. Both involve a character shouldering a burden while doing whatever they can to save a dear friend. Canaan has a lot more intense fighting, but lacks a traditional love/relationship development.

Both shows focus on military action in a fictional version of modern China. Both Canaan and FMP! The Second Raid feature teenagers being used as expert soldiers or highly skilled assassins, trying to deal with the traumatizing experience on the battlefield. In both shows, the main character has a civilian friend character who helps him/her relax between the missions. As for character archetypes, the teenage soldier protagonists of both shows face yuri twins as cruel villains in both storylines. Regarding the action sequences, an enormous body count and an excessive use of 3d model helicopters or other military equipment feel especially striking. Contentwise, both shows  read more

both pull you in from the begining w/ odd events. They share fast paced storyline [while being a short series] that keeps you guessing as to what and why aspects of plotline are happening next

both shows feature characters with enhanced human powers. in canaan, senses are amplified, while speed grapher harnesses human desire into special abilities

Both features female badass mc with guns. Not really similar with stories but both are definitely worth watching if you're into action genre.

Pretty art, good sound, glorious action, and supernatural freaks that are the results of experiments. Oh, and did I mention poorly executed. Poorly executed to the point where these two titles just become eye and ear candy. Well eye and ear candy is all good at first but there is a serious flaw with it, it gets boring. Oh yes, I went there. Any ways, if you watch one you can expect a similar thing from the other.

both have action scenes and Canaan kinda looks like Saber and they are both the heroines. They are both strong, courageous, and both seldom talk. Bloody scenes can also be found in both series.

hmmm many guns and fighting but I think Gunslinger Girl is a little slower in my opinion.

Both series features a superpower like theme that features beings with supernatural abilities. Both series has a dark theme and a deeper story as the episodes progresses as we learn a bit more about the main protagonist. Speaking of which..both main female protagonist has: - a mysterious past - possesses abilities capable beyond of a normal human Both series are quite underrated and should be given more attention hence this recommendation.

the women in both of these series are beasts. theres a bunch of over the top gunfights as well.

Canaan and blood+ both focus on two girls (Canaan+Alphard/Saya+Diva) who came from the same origin but live to hunt down one another. Both Canaan and Saya fight not only for revenge, but to protect the people they love. Like Diva's group who creates Delta 67, Alphard's group creates the Ua virus, both which pose a threat to humanity. The stories each focus also on a journalist who happens to witness events they shouldn't have, getting themselves involved in the action... and a partner to the journalist who has an emotional attachment to a characters fighting the antagonists (Maria+Canaan/Mao+Kai).

An ensemble cast of characters, including a main reporter lead and his female sidekick, has a role to play in a mystery spanning years, which has suddenly mutated the people of a city into unknown abominations. Both 13 episodes, these two shows are practically the same.

Both Feature Lots of Females as the Main Killers. Lots of Blood, Gore, and Violence; as well as a group of assassins.

This story line also evolves around a virus/supernatural disaster that creates abilities for certain people. There's a relationship between the two main characters that are similar to Ganta and Shiro. ^-^ They're both controlled by an agency/force that appears powerful, but manages to keep them contained in a metaphoric cage...though the endings do vary between the two anime's.They both resemble a kind of light that stands as hope or flame for those around to give meaning to their life.
