Both male protagonist faces a situation where they were back-stabbed by people they thought were allies. After facing the horrific consequences of being back-stabbed, the male protagonist sets out on a solo journey and meets female side-kicks, basically kick starting a harem. Both stories revolve around hero being summoned by magic, using magic and fighting demons who are threatening humanity.

They are both isekais with good for nothing main characters that goes through conflict after conflict after conflict after.... in order to get things done.

The omnipotential (but apparently useless at first glimpse) main character betrayed by corrupted princess seeks for revenge. Demi-human and younger princess as party member/companions? Sounds familliar?

Both are stand out shows in their seasons for being Isekai's that both play with the viewer expectation in a simple way. Changing the status quo in small ways that aren't particularly mind-blowing, but effective and utilized to each of their strengths

VRRPG isekai with loner protagonist who can do no wrong. Shield Hero is more of a grimdark version of Sword Art Online but they are actually quite similar. If you want a levelling up story about a weak-to-strong protagonist who is already quite powerful, watch these.

Both are your regular "guy gets transported from modern world into RPG-like world" except they have this gimmick where instead of being op right from the start they start from the bottom as one of the weakests. Of course, they get their super abilities (not so much) later anyway. Grimgar protagonist still stays relatively weak though, in a good way.

They are both iconic game isekais with a well defined atmosphere where the main character is pretty much overpowered and takes part into the conflicts of the game world.

Set in MMORPG/MMORPG-like world, the main character specializes in shield class with abilities specialized for defense. They keep gaining new skills by fighting and fullfiling hidden requirements. Just be warned that one is moe and the other one is angst.

Both are fantasy anime featuring protagonists who travel the world as merchants. In both cases, they're accompanied by a beautiful woman who is half-human, half-beast (Raphtalia is a tanuki, while Holo is a wolf). The main difference between them is that "Shield Hero" is an action-oriented anime that has the merchant and economic parts as more of a side thing, while with "Spice and Wolf" it's the other way round. Raphtalia is also nicer than Holo, the latter of whom has a rather cruel and manipulative streak. I think "Shield Hero" is better, as it has better visuals and characters as well as a wider audience appeal.

~ genre: action, adventure, fantasy. ~ Tate no Yuusha Nariagari and Rokka no Yuusha. Yuusha means "rising/brave"(something that have to do with heroes)". Their opening kinda a bit same too. ~ both have heroes that are called to fight the monster. ~ feel sad for the both main character in each anime. Iwatami Naofumi (Tate no Yuusha Nariagari) & Mayer Adlet (Rokka no Yuusha) because framed for something that he didn't do..

Both main characters start off weak and get stronger progressively through the story. Both shows have a leveling and stat system similar to those of a video game

Both anime are about a guy that goes to another world. In both of these anime the main character gets two cute girl slaves and has adventures with them the different between the two is How not to Summon a Demon lord is more of comedy ecchi anime well The Rising of The Sheld Hero is a Drama.

In both anime titles, the main character teleports to another fantasy world, where it is not sweet for him there, and travels with his friends around this world, and performing various tasks in order to survive, it is difficult for him to find his place in this world ... ... KonoSuba is more fun and comedic anime, while Tate no yuusha no nariagari is more serious and more interesting to watch. Nevertheless both are good, you will like them, I recommend!

Protagonist reincarnates into a fantasy world in Seirei Gensouki while the shield hero is summoned into it. They both receive harsh treatment from the people in power and their peers, thus, banishing the protagonists to go on their own journey, and meet various people who ultimately joins them on their journey.

Both are heavily story-based shows. Pretty enjoyable characters. Both have great protagonists. Both shows have great animation. Go check the other show out. :)

Both male MCs have the shield as a weapon, which make their way of fighting somewhat unique. They have a lot of females around them (harem). MCs want power to protect what they hold dear even if it means losing their humanity and becoming something even more.

Tsukimichi is not a revenge isekai but both are extremely enjoyable to watch with shield hero being more serious and dramatic and tsukimichi being very laid back and enjoyable.
report Recommended by Neko-con
Isekai medieval fantasies, that focus a lot more on the actual RPG elements (HP, MP, Skills, etc...) rather than casually ignoring them. Both also feature harems forming due to the MC's heroic efforts

Both series deal with MMORPG becoming a reality, with all the quirks - levelling up, parties, food. Very similar drama/comedy balance as well.

The main protagonist from Ore dake Level Up na Ken and Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari are pretty similar. - They both are among the chosen people to save the world. - They started weak, and often getting underestimated by others. - They are trying to learn and adapt with the new system they got. - After a lot of hard work, they become stronger and reliable. There is also a similarity in how they have to fight the monsters in a specified zone.

Both aregood isekai anime just one is summoned as the shield hero and another is summoned as a slime. both are underestimated at first but later on grown in power and become overpowered

"Shield Hero" can easily be read as the antithesis to "The Twelve Kingdoms". Both are decon-recon switches of "trapped in another world" stories which have the protagonist be dragged to the world as a chosen one, but become very jaded by their troubles before rising up and becoming stronger people who aid others, and become close friends with a half-beast person. Both also deal with politics and feature a red-haired, green-eyed woman as a major character. The similarities end there. In "Shield Hero", people from our world are worshipped as legendary heroes, while in "The Twelve Kingdoms" (or specifically in the Kingdom of Kou), they  read more

In both shows, the protagonist is backstabbed quite early on and does a total 180 in personality, where they find it hard to trust anybody, even having doubts in the ones that do grow close to them. It’s through the interactions with the minor characters in the settings that they try to establish a better perspective, but the looming unfairness of their world’s society keeps putting them in danger. Both shows have a rather heavy focus on the reality of discrimination and scumbaggery within human society, which in turn, can inadvertently make the antagonistic figures seem shallow when they really aren’t supposed to be deep individually. They are both about an underdog with awe-inspiring power that is hard to control. They both have a secondary character that remains with the main character even when being pushed away. They have similar settings.

Both feature a male hero protagonist who level up and fight monsters in the process. Cautious hero is more of a comedy, where Seiya is overpowered yet naive, whereas Shield Hero has more serious tones as Naofumi is looked down on and works his way up the ranks. The both are hard to open up to. Both of these anime feature the protagonist being transported into a new world (isekai)

MCs from both series are filled with resentment and hatred as a result of them being ostracised. They are rude and unapproachable young men who have their own way of doing things and seeing the world around them. And yet, they are both dependable and (deep inside) kind, so they help people around them.

- The beginning of the series will surely give you the vibe of "The Rising of the Shield Hero" - The protagonist is summoned to the other world as a hero where he has to face certain difficulties - The kingdom that summons the protagonist is troubled with many concerns

-Human MC transported to new world (in Tate no yuusha the guy was transported and became a hero while in Inuyasha the girl was transported because she got dragged by a monster) -They both travel and villager seek help from them. -Main girl is a demi-human while in Inuyasha the main guy is a Half-human Half-Demon. There's a lot more similarity about these two and I probably missed out some of them but I totally recommend this a must watch.

Undergod protagonist that is considered to be weak by others and is frequently discriminated against, fighting his way through. Now if you liked Rakudai Kishi you'll probably like Tate no Yuusha too, but the otherway isn't so certain as Rakudai Kishi is more heavily centered around fanservice.

Both start with the main characters being drawn into a book and ending up in another world in which they need to fulfill some kind of prophecy while not being the only one from another world. Main characters need to find companions on their journey. While it's about four different heroes in Rising of the Shield Hero, it's about four different nations with a priestress each in Fushigi Yuugi (although only two of them get some real meaning during the main series). Both series include lots of intrigues against the main characters.

Plunderer shares a few similarities to Shield Hero; Firstly in Shield Hero, the characters Naofumi and Raphtalia can be contrasted to their Plunderer equivalents; Hina and Licht. Licht and Naofumi share the similarity in the fact they are an OPMC, Naofumi maintains a legendary shield ability that absorbs material in the world whereas Licht has superhuman strength and extreme agility - both characters are somewhat looked down upon or pursued because of their legend but the way each character obtains their abilities are a bit different. - Both contain trade and travel in a medieval, large scale world - Both contain kemono best girls, with ears and tail (Tate: Tanuki, Ookami: Wolf) - Both contain interaction with common people, as compared to heros and nobility - Both have a plot which is driven by both individual decisions and world-level external factors outside the influence of the protagonists - Both contain a human-kemono love story

I watched the rising of the shield hero a few years before watching this, and I gotta say Shield Hero was definitely the better anime. I'm just going to refer to The Rising as the Shield Hero as just Shield Hero so it doesn't take as long to type. They have similar protagonists who don't really give a sht about the world's social hierarchy and devote time into messing it up (However Naofumi, the MC in Shield Hero, does this out of pure hatred to obtain revenge for the crimes that he's suffered, a very interesting coping mechanism in the series when we realize the rest  read more

- Similar male protagonists who struggle in their society, yet vow to protect it. - They are also two of the most mature protagonists. - Adorable female protagonists who steal the spotlight. - Good mixture of light-hearted episodes and heavy-hearted episodes.

Both have main characters whom were pretty much anti heroes that doesn't correspond to the usual protagonist arch type where they're pretty much presented as the untouchables.

What these two stories have in common that both stories have the creepy crazy mad scientist that does experiment on large tanks trope that have evil schemes to destroy the world. also no stories are complete without the epic battles to save the day. Although there are also its other difference wont go into details. the other similarity is for shield hero as default equipment on the get-go is a shield... Infinite Dendrogram they get a companion, for our mc happens to be a cute girl that turn into a weapon but they can be anything even a big castle.

This two anime I would say have quite in common. While starting with the obvious that they are both Isekai they also tend to be on the darker side of that genre. Making it intriguing since most anime like them normally starts with a lighter therm. They also have a similar protagonist as it looks at first like they couldn't care a bit about the world they entered and both have questionable values that we as a viewer tend to question our own morality after.

So both anime is the story of the Support type character or role in a group. basically Shield Hero is a tank. so If you are looking for another tank or shield character after Shield Hero. theres not much option to watch. Shield hero was much more dramatic although this other try was not as intense as shield hero in emotional damage as they are both looked down upon.

The Rising of the Shield Hero reminded me alot on Black Bullet, simply because of the two main characters. The protagonist saves a cute little girl (almost lolilike) and they start to share a deep friendship

Masters who command "servants" must protect the universe from external/unavoidable doom. There are different classes and specialties-- a different history and a different path for the MC. Who would have thought "the weakest link" is carrying the weight of a world on their shoulders? Build a harem, or don't... it's the life of a hero. Neither shows are too original or especially unique, but it's filled with comedy and tsunderes.

While for shield hero we are introduced to four lads finding themselves in the kingdom of Melromarc where they are immediately assigned to the holy quartet of warrior classes ranging from sword, spear, bow, and shield respectively, in Rayearth there are three schoolgirls summoned on behalf of the elemental trinity system of fire, water and wind in order to fight for the land of Cephiro. Both Isekais have a prominent secondary character who is a cute beastman girl who is the MC's sword in fights and otherwise a "Must protect" character. If you loved Rapthalia from Shield hero and are a beastman/demi-human simp like me, then "Reincarnated as a sword" is a must-watch since you will see Fran, a cure cat girl wield the MC, who is a sword!

In the aspect that the protagonist both have "trails" in their experiences that each has to go through. You personally might disagree but this is more so on a wide and vague way. Overall, a similar theme of perseverance though fate and destiny.

If you're watching Shield Hero and enjoying the lighter moments of Naofumi crafting & helping people, then Atelier is a fantasy JRPG franchise entirely about crafting & helping people and Escha & Logy is its only anime adaptation. That said, Shield Hero also gets quite dark whereas Atelier is very lighthearted.

Fantasy adventure series with a cynical twist. That aside, Shield Hero's Filo and Chaika's Fredrica are blonde loli monster girls whose violent solution to most problems serves as comedic relief.

Both shows are somewhat different genre wise. While Shield Hero is more of a RPG based anime Guilty Crown focuses in Sci-Fi elements. What makes them similar is the fact that the male protagonist at some point is considered evil while the female protagonist is loyal and always by their side.

When it comes to the final fantasy games, the base concept is the 4 warriors of light fighting chaos, in which FFU is hugely inspired and based off of. Both shows involve a more pragmatic MC in a fantasy world dealing with hero(s) that cause problems. In the case of Assassin, the MC is tasked with killing the hero in exchange for being reincarnated while Shield Hero sees the MC being outcast from the rest of the heroes for reasons. While I do not believe both are of the same quality, I do think if you liked the MC in one, you may like the MC in the other. They also deal with more competent worlds where not everyone is a complete idiot, so that is refreshing and can help with watching.

Both deal with main characters that have been ostracized from society because of factors they cant control. In Naruto, the titular character (Naruto) is hated by society because a destructive fox beast was sealed within him, while in Shield Hero, it's more of a set up by higher ups to keep the main character disliked and disadvantaged. However, over time, they come to gain the respect of the people who once doubted them. Nothing is handed to the main characters of these anime. Well, in both these animes, the society/royalty is depicted as bad. in Akame ga kill! The hole kingdom the story takes in is a very sh*tt* place. And in TnYnN, The protagonist is getting abused due to quick judgement, laziness, lying (maybe corruption). In both these animes, it's all about the rebellion, and in a Fantasy setting like these, They are really enjoyable. "Tate no Yuusha also has an isekai element. Visually, the series are on a similar level, the character design is nice to look at, as is the animation as a whole.
