- Both have a supernatural event occurring in a school setting. - Both deal with a club/group of friends daily lives and problems they face. - Main guy is very altruistic and is in a love triangle. - Both are very unusual comedies that carry a lot of dramatic moments bringing out your emotions in every episode.

Both are cute romantic comedies revolving around a girl who is different and alienated. Both girls are eventually able to become sociable and feel comfortable with they way they are. This is because they both have a respective boy who is crazy about them and wants to help them :D

The main heroine in both shows has a secret that makes her avoid other people in order to not get hurt. The male protagonist discovers that secret and decides to be her friend no matter what. Kotoura-san has a darker plot but more comedy and less romance than Isshuukan Friends

Both anime focus on a young girl who has family troubles and are unskilled at getting along with others. At first, both girls have a reputation in their school for being strange - but a guy comes along and sheds some light on their once-dreary lives. Also, romance and comedy are balanced in both series and also have some drama tossed in.

- Both have supernatural event in a school environment. - Both have a perverted guy and a small, innocent girl. - Both have some sort of love triangle. - Both are funny and comedic.

Both stories feature a cute girl who bears the trauma of indirectly causing her family to break apart when she was a child, and a group of friends that helps her finally overcome her anxiety and open up to others.

Though Mob Psycho 100 and Kotoura-san are undeniably drastically different series, with the former being primarily a fast-paced action series and the latter being primarily a drama-focused series, I urge anyone who enjoys either of these shows to give the other a chance. Though the pacing and genres of these shows are different, in both you'll find touching coming-of-age stories about main characters who struggle to come to terms with their psychic powers. Both have their fair share of comedy and light-hearted scenes to go along with their heavier scenes, and though I would argue that the comedy in MP100 is better timed and hits  read more

-Both have an eccentric/odd cast of characters including a quiet girl that likes a guy that takes care of her. -Both have incredible amounts of cuteness. -While Kotoura-san is more feels-y and romance based, Acchi Kocchi is more comedy and friend based.

Both series takes place at a school life setting where there is drama, comedy, and romance. Both series are lighthearted and has a small cast of characters. The main female protagonist in both series has a reserved personality and originally had a different outlook on the main male protagonist. Both series has its moments occasionally where tension surfaces between the duo. Yet, at times, friendship ties them together that brings them closer.

Before I start, I'll say that you should watch Gakkou Gurashi ***without any prior knowledge***. Don't even click the "read more" button below on this recommendation. (There aren't really any spoilers, but yeah). The simple explanation about both animes is that they're both very happy (yet not entirely) shows with cutesy loli animation, lots of feels, and a bit (or a lot) of twist. If you like animes that have lots of feels, mix in very happy moments, and mix in very traumatic moments, both are good watches. ______________________________________ Kotoura-san focuses mainly on romance and Haruka Kotoura's traumatic past. With love and drama between her and the relationships she has  read more

This special is a small arc from Kokoro Connect series which just like Kotoura-san focuses on mind reading and problems it can cause.

I think Hasabe acts exactly like Manabe-kun while Lucy is very similar to Kotoura.

Main Character suffers from a deep dark past but one day meets the person who will save her in the end.

Both center around two girls with some kind of power, which harms people around them. Also both main females need help from the main male.

It's kind of evident that there's some influence going around these two, from Haruhi to Kotoura-san, no wonder taking into account the fame of Suzumiya Haruhi, so starting from the beginning, there's a scholar club in both that investigates paranormal activity, there's espers involved one way or another, even though the club it's about that it's mostly used as a fun kill time for it's integrants and there's some similarities between the characters also, so yeah they're similar, recommended if you like any of these series.

Wait, Kotoura plays in another anime! Nope, its just Gingitsune. The MC personality seems to overlaps one another, Kotoura and Makoto is like two same person in different parallel universe. They even share the same VA, Hisako Kanemoto. They both sweet to the bone that would give you diabetes. But don't hate on them, as their cuddly appearance and dreamy eyes would even melt the demon inside your heart. If you want to watch 'another' Kotoura-esque with less ecchi, Gingitsune is your answer.

- Both have the lonely schoolgirl, approached by love interest boy effect. - Both have supernatural/mysterious circumstances.

Both heroine was born with rare ability which makes it difficult for them to have a normal life. Kotoura Haruka: "... but what i don't like the most is when the people I care about leave me!" Kuriyama Mirai: "Somewhere along the line, I had decided that I can't interact with other people. That I have no choice but to be alone, but..." Rather than get hurt they decided to be alone so they wont hurt the people they love. Both heroine found love and friends who accepted them. Both great stories of love and friendship which I'm envious of, so I love to recommend both  read more

Both character from the anime has ESP skills which makes it difficult for them to fit in. Even though the Tokyo ESP focus on battle with society Kotoura-san focus life drama, but a I can feel love between the hero and heroine which grew strong because of their ESP skill.

Both anime have "light-hearted and comedic moments" which mask the 'real' dark story. The difference is that Re:Zero is a fantasy thriller with some time-travelling elements, while Kotoura is slightly-romantic school comedy-drama with ESPer elements.

Are you looking for some relaxing SoL school romcom? These are perfect choices because they are about.... Your everday life . What makes them so similar is that they're both about some MC who joins a club where the creatos are older than the MC. They're also quite open about their love and the male upperclasman in both serie is kind of lifeless and different.

I find these shows not that similar by plot, but by the characters. Well except the dude in Kotoura-san. (He's a total pervert). Either way Konoe and Kotoura seem to be very similar, they are the quiet and sensitive type. Also there is comedy. In the show Kotoura seems to be very lonely, because of her ability to read minds and in Mayo Chiki! Konoe dresses like a man and in my opinion is just left alone because no one actualy tries to be friends with her. If you liked Kotoura-san, you have to watch Mayo Chiki!

Both series deal with an underlying problem that causes difficulties in obtaining a perfect relationship with another person.

Both shows are different in set-up but both messages and underlying themes are similar. Both shows deal with a romance-situation but also both shows deal with the problem of being an outsider trying to fit in. Both shows are excellent and if you liked Nagi no Asukara (One of my favorites) than I think a more heavy, yet light-hearted Kotoura-san is a good show to watch.

Although their themes are not related, I find out that Kotoura and Anya have the ability to know the people’s minds without them knowing it, basically mind reading. Sometimes these know whenever Kotoura and Anya reveal secrets.

while Saiki k never gets quite as dark as Kotoura-san does at times, they're still both a comedy anime where the main character can read minds, they even both have their name in their respective anime title too

the first episode of Kotoura-san reminded me of mahou shoujo site by how depressing it was, while Mahou shoujo stays edgy and kotoura-san doesn't, they both still have similarities like how there's a red haired bully girl who later becomes an ally

Both Aharen and Kotoura intentionally make themself unsociable due to their past experience. However, a faithful encounter with the male MC change things for the better.

These magical high school dramas revolve around protagonists who are initially rejected by their peers but find acceptance as the people around them get to know them better. Kotoura is outcast due to her psychic powers while Yamada is outcast because he's a delinquent but they both find the love of their life after some intense drama.

similarities in both shows. ✓main character who love to fantasize about girls. ✓main characters are members of club in school ✓it contain entertaining romcom story in SNI is focusing more on romcomedy and parody, while in kotoura san has a plot and some drama. enjoy!

Both have a very cheerful atmosphere and similar comedy. The main characters are pretty similar and the art style also has bright colors, which is nice. All the characters have a personality, which also makes them easy to identify and remember. This anime is a rom-com, slice-of-life though, but it's still worth a watch

Here goes my 1st recommendation. Both of these girls feel all alone during their childhood (like how mine was) because of their special ability whether it be seeing spirits or the ability to read minds. Then their life gets turned upside down when they meet someone who takes them out and shows them how special they really are. (too bad I have yet for that to happen to me).

The setting is similar, Girl has a power, that power makes life super hard, makes friends, deals, tries to be a normal person. Kotoura-san is better though. Muuuuch better, but that's okay.
report Recommended by Memorox
Both anime consist of girls who were happy at a young age, and then as they got older they both can't trust anyone and they were alone for a long period of time. Finally, a guy comes along and brightens up their lives. They both share the same genre (romance).

The main characters are lonely teenagers with paranormal powers. Both are rejected by family and childhood colleagues, because have strange powers. When they move to other city and other school, they realize finaly that can make new friends, because that people accepted them like they are. Both have comedy and drama. There are some only differences... 1 - Koutora-san : The main character is a girl, ( Haruka Koutora ) and her power is telepathy. ( She can hear people thoughts ) Has romance and ecchi, but no adventure. This is the first and only season at moment. 2- Natsume Yuujinchou: The main character is a boy ( Takashi Natsume ),  read more

Both series are school-related and have one or more characters with an extraordinary power. While both are also placed in the comedy category, there is a hint of tragedy in both as well.

If you're the type of person who is looking for a good trolling author experience then I suggest both series. Though they may differ in theme and humor they are cleverly written to trick the audience expectations of narrowed expected events.

Both are about the girl with some supernatural talents (in Pupipo! main character sees ghosts, Kotoura reads other people's minds). Because of their abilities they can't find any friends, until they meet certain someone, who wants to help them/finds their powers interesting
report Recommended by helensan
Despite having cute animation with cute character designs, both series have dark undertones and cover some sad/tragic/dark moments. However, Kotoura is more lighthearted and is not action orientated like Madoka. Though first 10 minutes of Kotoura series are HEAVY and DEPRESSING on Madoka level.

Not that similar.. its just that Karada and Kotoura give me the same kind of feeling. Also its Both about girls that come to love the way they are. And a touch of Magic Of Course..! I think If you liked kotoura-san you will probably also like this !

Both shows are about young people discovering things about themselves and their relationships. Both spend a lot of time showing a main character's (ecchi) delusions, which creates a similar feel.

Both are basically everyday life with some supernatural elements mixed in. Both are concerned with the friendship of core characters.

Rom-com's in which the main couple is love-dovey from the start with lots of cuddling and love :3

Both have mystery elements and an assailant who is after multiple characters in the show. Another is far more gory/gruesome but there are a fair share of bloody scenes in Kotoura-San. Both also involve high school daily life but with a twist.

Kids with a disability cause feels, for Silent Voice it's deafness and being too passive when making friends followed by the bullies point of view, for Kotoura it's ESP paired with social skills that never develop. Kotoura has a much shorter story with lots of filler in the middle but while Koe no Katachi takes it's time a bit it never feels as filler-y. Kotoura adds an interesting supernatural element to a slice of life comedy while Koe no Katachi plays a real issue straight forward. Both have girls beaten down because of something they can't control and the bully realize it was wrong and  read more
