Okay, if you are looking at my "enjoyment" score (10) and wondering why I gave the show a 5, you'll understand soon. This is a show that sells itself as a romantic story about a pilot and a girl in the midst of a gruesome war. About the compassionate love between a soldier and a lady. I was expecting tragedy that tugs at my heartstrings and the realities of war's effect on people. This would have been great if the show was written with heart, but, sadly, it wasn't...
I would not have enjoyed watching this show at all if it wasn't for my friend
...
that watched with me. Because of the incredibly simple plot and terrible pacing, we were able to spend most of our time making fun of the terrible characters, making predictions on the "plot twists", and making really funny nicknames for each character. I swear, we may have figured out a way to make any anime fun to watch no matter how terrible the show really is!!!
We would dub over scenes in real time as a way of explaining how unrealistic and predictable they were. For example, while the characters were flying next to each other, they would actually just talk without any radio or normal communications device. I mean, how can anyone hear one another with two gigantic gas engine propellers on either side of the plane running full throttle?? We would dub over, "what did you say?!" and "I can't hear you with these gigantic engines running!! Try sign language!"
We named this one really fat dude Porkins, and the super hot girl that somehow liked him (seriously weird romances) Gold Digger because the only way that relationship could make sense in our minds was if Porkins was filthy rich. We also predicted that Porkins was going to die in the most stupid way, too (like in Star Wars). Turns out we were right!! the dude literally flew into enemy fire with a broken plane for no reason only after he ejected Gold Digger from his plane......WHY DIDN'T HE JUST EJECT BOTH OF THEM!!! AND WHY DID HE THINK THAT GOLD DIGGER WAS GOING TO BE JUST FINE??? seriously stupid writing, but we were laughing so hard that we had to pause the video for at least 5 minutes.
Now, lets talk about pacing! The director and writers of this show have no clue how to end an episode!! For example, Porkins' death although hilarious was supposed to be a huge emotional war hero scene....you'd think the episode would end with his death to instill the emotions of the episode, but no!! NO!! why would they do that when they can cut to the rest of the pilots standing on the runway wondering where Porkins and Gold Digger are....and then end it with the rest of the planes landing without Porkins' plane....My friend and I made a game out of this after the 3rd episode since the first three episodes had terrible endings. We would pick out which scene would be the end only to find out the show was going to make use of the last minute to show you something completely irrelevant to ruin the possible cliff hanger....of course this also gave us a lot of laughs, as well.
In the end, we ended up enjoying the show by turning it into a comedy when it was trying really really hard to be a serious war story. If you find a show similar to this, take as many steps as possible to make fun of it so that you can actually enjoy it. Seriously, Porkins was hilarious!!

I am a sucker for Piano stuff. Classical piano is even better!! This show did everything right that a studio needs to do to make a great music based anime. A voluminous arsenal of songs, perfect animation of the instruments and the characters that are playing them, and matching the art with the overall feel of the show!!
All you need to know about the story is that the protagonist had a tough upbringing with a mother that vicariously made him learn the piano to perfect, thus, creating a guy that has a ton of mental turmoil after his mother passes away.
...
Because of this, he cannot hear the piano which keeps him from playing all together. The other main character is a girl that plays the violin and loves everything about music, life, and the pursuit of happiness. You can see that both of them are very different from each other.
The show mixes romance, depression, and life's purpose through the characters so well, that you end up relating to them without even sharing anything with them directly. Halfway through the show, I was absolutely loving every moment, and then the show throws even more feels into the plot!! At that point, I would find myself tearing up or jumping for joy because the show is so incredibly dynamic with each character.
The show displays the binding and freeing aspect of music so well that I started playing the piano again. Every time I listened to the beautiful piano or violin, I had to pause the show and play the piano or whatever I had laying around the room.
If you don't like classical music, then you can just watch this for the deep character development and realistic romance. It reminded me of the show, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, for the realism of each character's emotions in their lives. This show is a must watch!!

The Fruit of Grisaia started and ended with me bemused every step of the way. The reasons, however, changed. The show started out with little insight on what was going on. The bits of info I could pick out was that the school was special, had 6 attendees (5 girls 1 guy), and that one of the girls wants to murder the guy. I felt like I was thrown in without any guidance as to where the plot was going, but luckily the first few episodes explained the superficial information about the characters pretty well. As I was deeper into the show, I
...
realized the purpose of the protagonist's involvement with the school, and I also realized the guy is an assassin (not really a spoiler because I'm pretty sure I'm just an idiot and should have known this from the start). I realized that there is something fundamentally wrong with each girl in the school, and because of that, the protagonist is there to protect and help them.
From this moment on, I really started to enjoy the show and wanted to know how the protagonist was going to help the next girl come to terms with her past. Each girl is very unique which made me very invested in the story. After about 8 or 9 episodes, I decided to rate this show an 8 for the time being, because I was truly enjoying it until........the next....4....episodes......
This is why my rating of an 8 went straight to a 6. The show had a dark atmosphere about it, and each girl's story was pretty messed up. It did get pretty dark from 1 through 8, but nothing too much for me. Episodes 9 through 10, though, were just insane in my opinion. the last two girls' stories were just absolutely unnecessarily gory, depressing, and just down right creepy. I understand writers like to express their artistic right, but this was entirely too far. It completely took me by surprise and threw me straight out of the plot. I had to fast forward through a couple of scenes, and at some points I just wanted to stop watching.
I'm not going to spoil anything and the ending, but if you don't like needless rape scenes, girls peeing themselves, and dead bodies, don't spend your 300 minutes on this show. I would have scored it a 5, but I just wanted to make myself believe that I didn't just waste 300 minutes of my life.

This is a phenomenal manwha!! Just read it!! Just trust me. If you want to read a martial arts manwha that Has realist elements as well as crazy inhuman elements, READ THIS!! It starts as the normal Kenichi-type manwha with a kid being bullied, but don't worry, it stops that crap really quick and throws you into a world of crazy martial artists everywhere.
The art is absolutely perfect for this genre. Although there are elements from this main character shared from Kenichi, the art and darkness this author dishes out rises it to a completely different level!
If you read History's Strongest Disciple:
...
Kenichi, but you thought it was too happy, please read this manwha! It rips your heart guts out just to feed it back to you.
I read this manwha in one day and waited a week for the nonexistent next chapter to arrive, but it never came. Luckily, I checked the forums and found the sequel of this story called, "The Breaker: New Waves", and that manwha is still ongoing.

This Manwha was a desperate search for a manga similar to The Breaker. The fighting is pretty good, and the art compliments the action very well. It felt realistic if you put aside the fact that every single South Korean guy only wants to fight and kill one another! I wish the author would have spent more time on the characters' back stories, but at least it wasn't like Naruto!
It may have been the translators fault, but the language used was very repetitive in a lot of places. Lines like, "he has surpassed human limitations!" made me think, either the characters were
...
incredibly naive to the fact that there are always people stronger in the world or they really thought the man wasn't human anymore.
Another thing I wish the author would have stressed was training. it seemed very Harry Potter-like in that you don't see much training and they just learn techniques from nowhere.
All-in-all, Change Guy was very interesting in the first few chapters, which got me hooked, and kept me entertained with good fight scenes and wanting to know how it ended. Actually, the fact there was an end is what kept me from dropping this mangwha.
Still, it's a good read. You should spend some time reading it all, I'm sure you'll get hooked if you enjoy The Breaker and interesting plots.
