Beelzebub climbed its way to second place in my favourite shounens list.
I do not want to write anything too explicit because reading the manga felt more like an experience than anything else.
Characters: very entertaining. There was no one you could hate, even the villains were interesting and lovable.
Writing: the author never fails to return to his main characters. By keeping the settings and arcs brief, and the characters being introduced short, it does not distract the reader from the main plot of the manga. It helps keep things nicely paced and connections between characters almost seamless. As with many shounens the action

This anime is not meant to be taken seriously. This isn't because it's terribly written or paced, in fact, when the story wraps up, it leaves no holes or misunderstandings! This is not meant to be taken seriously because the writers spoon-feed everything to the viewer. Basically: Read if bored, and there's absolutely nothing else you can read. As far as romance Harems go, it does its job. Characters don't really shine. Honestly, I forgot who half of them were, they just didn't have much of an impact on the story. Ultimately, read this to see how a bunch of girls makes Haruto the best dude for Yuzuki. Oh, and how Yuzuki is freaking adorable.
Why you shouldn't read it: Boring. Plot twists and character introductions are so boring! Considering it is a harem, the elements are of course played the same way over and over again, with no real rejection from Haruto ... Feb 7, 2014

Basically: read it for its shoujo. On all levels, it is a shoujo, which is why, for so many of their foolish mistakes and plot cliches, it's a great shoujo manga. But on an writing artisan level: awful, absolutely awful.
Why you shouldn't read it: The only reason I gave this such a horrible rating was because it left an awful, awful taste in my mouth. Granted, most romance mangas boast the freedom of churning out cliche after cliche, so I'll give this that, but I was actually surprised that there was no amnesia arc. Bottom line: do not read for plot. Read for the cliche drama. ... |
