It clumsily tackles the themes of streamer culture, school life, and bullying with all the finesse of a sledgehammer. Shallow, inconsistent characters and tired tropes make for a cringeworthy viewing experience that offers little substance or insight.
While the animation and soundtrack may show moments of decency, with fluid movements and catchy tunes, they fail to salvage the sinking ship of the narrative.
However, in a world where some seek enjoyment in the trashiest content, this anime may find a small following among those who enjoy the lowest common denominator of entertainment.

Domestic na Kanojo is a story about growing up, understanding love from many perspectives. Author pushes narrative towards realism, and, in my opinion, this approach really suitable to romance genre (a certain similarity to "Aku no Hana" and "Oyasumi Punpun" can be found). But at the same time, this manga includes some harem elements, which are quite inconsistent with the whole realism concept. I read the manga after it was fully published, so I found the ending, which was marked as quality decline by fans, almost logical in terms of the nature of the characters, which are quite odd (see character section). As a people, who have seen all gintama series before movies, I can say that this movie as a standalone work is not perfect and not representing all essence of Gintama series.
Despite this, the movie is really well done, develops a few main characters (Katsura, Takasugi, Gintoki and etc.), has humor and drama core of Gintama.
