What started out somewhat strong declined steadily over the 24 episodes right to the end.
The last 4 episodes were nearly unbearable to watch. I literally forced myself through them just to see if there was anything that would redeem the series before the ending. Unfortunately the answer was "No. Not a thing.".
To those that love this series - I applaud and respect your resiliency to this puerile mess of over the top, over achievers, that simplify scientific advances that took years of diligent work, into 2 or 3 day accomplishments with crude and rudimentary tools.

If this anime made you uncomfortable in how they portrayed Nishimiya then you really, truly, don't understand what deaf children and teens go through.
Having grown up with multiple deaf people, who were treated the same way as Nishimiya was, I can attest that the traits she shows is more often the case than not. Forced to be in a world where others find her an oddity for something they have no control over is difficult. To be ridiculed, bullied, and taught that they ARE different is something that this anime really covers well. The writers here are throwing it in your face ...

I honestly don't see where the hype for this series comes from.
Over 20+ years of watching anime and there's, if we're being honest here, nothing special about this anime at all. The story line is dreadful. It's a simple concept that is painfully dragged out over 13 episodes. It was painful to watch but I wanted to complete the series, if for nothing more, so that I could write this review. There is no reasoning presented for the visible wounds, a dearth of depth in telling any of the character's stories, no build to climax, and no clear resolution as to why anyone ...

Having been an anime fan for well over 20 years now (yes I'm THAT old) I've seen pretty much every trick in the book. The same regurgitated story lines that are decades old, the same character nuances thrown into many different looks, and the worst to the best art.
While the art isn't my cup of tea the story and characters make up for it considerably. I found the Art/Sound to not be necessary in this story at all and therefore didn't weight them into my Overall rating. The pacing can be slow for a lot of younger folks who are bombarded with ...

Wow! Talk about an anime that had a lot of promise then went straight into the crapper!
The last 4 episodes was like watching paint dry. The story that started out well but went down like a $3 crack hooker on payday. The Art was the only thing this anime has going for it. It is very good. The sound at times is just plain painful. Like cats fighting a chalkboard. The character development that could have happened here never materialized. Honestly - they should have ended this anime after the first season which was very good.
People are really doing this series a disservice by rating it far higher due to their love of the first season. This second season is truly pathetic, over the top, and BORING. Seriously. I enjoyed the first season very much but this 2nd season is leaving nothing but a horrible taste in my mouth. I honestly can't see how people are rating this any higher than I have and even I'm giving it more than I should because I'm biased due to the first season. I just feel like I'm wasting ...

Oh What Could Have Been!
Just my rotten luck that the last 2 animes that I've watched have started out strong and with great stories to only fall short of any real goal or even plot. At first this anime grabs you and makes you enjoy the characters and spends a decent amount of effort with characterization. Then as you go along it really falls flat on its face. The last episode contains 3 characters you never met (maybe once?) but are just tossed into the episode haphazardly and with no real reason to do so. The art was very good and I enjoyed the music ...

Meh... Meh 1,000 times.
The artwork was above average but the rest of the anime is just plain meh. I'm not sure where "revenge" comes into the story at all. After 12 full episodes the main character is basically where he started. No plot progression, bad side story lines, a story line that just DRAGS the life out of you and leaves you feeling agitated. I'm giving it a 5 due to art and sound but remove them and it's a 4. I save my 3's or less for anime I can't finish watching and I was able to finish watching this one... barely. That's all the review ...

Wow! There sure are a lot of people trying to over sell this anime.
Listen... I agree it's a lot of fun to watch and follow along. It is not serious and it has some great comedic scenes. BUT - let's not get in over our heads here by giving it a 10 or calling it the greatest anime since sliced bread. The Story really is just "fair". They could have taken this anime in so many other directions but it's good enough. Yes it has some boring times along the way and that's why I don't rate this category any higher. ...

Just completed binge watching the entire season of ReLIFE and I have to say it... this anime had a lot of potential to go somewhere... but didn't.
The characters are very good and they all have lives of their own. They live and breathe and that's really not a strong point for a lot of animes. So many animes just fall flat and regurgitate the same character types over and over - but not ReLIFE. Unfortunately though - the makers seriously blew it around episodes 7-10. They tried too hard to make this anime "mean" something by putting in darker life elements. ... |
