Crest of the stars is less sci fi and more romance comedy without the romance and without the comedy (very poor attempts anyway). The two main characters are unlikable entitled nobles with a typical archetypical strong female lead and an beta male. Ship and art design is decent enough. Those that are fans of legends of galactic heroes will be disappointed in the poor characters and there lack of development in this one. I kept waiting for the anime to pick up or get better and it never did. The two main characters are excruciating to listen to them have a conversation and will ...

This final installment takes the turn for a much darker, disturbing tale indeed. This time, the CG animation fits in for much better for the hellish supernatural conclusion. Nightmarish imagery and a horrifying conclusion that will make even the toughest of men squeem and squirm while watching. The original series was criticized for it's open ended conclusion, and thankful to say we see a more definitive ending for this ova which justifies the remake of the series. Worth watching for fans of the tv series and manga, leaving it open to future installments in the Berserk Legacy. But do we really want more Berserk ...

First episode sets things up nicely for part 2 of this ova. It opens with the legendary 100 man vs guts battle in a true gorefest. Disturbingly violent and brutal, but lacks the proper set up to build up Guts to that point. Making the battle anti-climatic when compared to the TV series in which they took time to show Guts progression as a warrior and his character. His relationship and romance seems natural but not as impactful, the viewer doesn't care for the characters despite the long running time of these ova's. Episode 2 has fantastic battle scenes but lacks the humanity of the ...

A solid remake of the berserk tv show from the 90s and the manga. Some excellent art work and classic berserker Gore for good measure. Berserk tv show was probably one of the best animes of all time so this is not an easy follow up by anymeans. Berserk ova throws in a little homoerroticism between griffith and it's lead character. the OVA is self aware of it's art style which is a nice touch. Too often we have these pretty boys who are all powerful in anime series. An addicting show to a fault. The first episode leaves you wanting more but does not ...

Not a huge fan of the first episode, but border 2 picks up the pace. We get to see the coming the together of the SAC unit. For Better or Worse border 2 feels like a classic GITS. "Ghost" and spiritual themes are brought up again but with no elaboration on those themes to add. We get a solid story vague, and a little characterization on each member of the SAC unit. But no complex characters, they are only stactic cut outs meant to serve to the overly dense plot. The plot is nothing the gits series hasn't done before along with its spiritual undertones. ...

a prelude to the sac series, the arise ova fills in a much needed gap between the gits films and the sac series. However, story remains dense with its political fodder. Characterization is emphasized more so than the SAC series which helps to newcomers. Veterans of the series will feel they are treading similar water but will feel at home in the gits world. There can never be enough GITS it's a fascinating series that continues to intrigue even after it's release in the 90s. However, The arise series is nothing new and doesn't expand the overall gits world. It plays it safe to not ...

Halo Legends (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
Well this is ova is 8 separate episodes by all different director. There is no continuity between the episodes as each acts as a stand alone segment of the halo universe. This ova reminded me of a poor man's version of the matrix ova that was released a few years back.

It begins with 2 prelude episodes that consist of (no lie) 30 minutes of narration and voice over work that is extremely boring and tells the backstory of the halo universe. After an epic setup they go into the different episodes they have a really bad cg episode and a horrible episode 5 that ...

Beck Mongolian Chop Squad is a great anime tv series. Some Kudos definitely go out to Kimagure Orange Director, his direction, accompanied by some great voice acting. The over the top english voice actors and the broken english from the Japanese characters make the voice acting exceptionally better than your average anime. The soundtrack and music are a mere average. But for a show that is about a rock band, there are other aspects like character relationships that carry the story's plot development so it's not just about the music. Throw in some real great displays of real instruments and amps, show is a great ...

This anime disappointed me as I was expecting a show with a little more depth that what was delivered. The major flaws of this anime are the characters and their lack of progression. The main character is a woman whom serves no purpose other than to be a bodyguard for a prince and the prince as young as he is, never matures despite all the hardships they are forced up against. The problem is none of the characters act outside their roles which leads to a dull, predictable series of episodes. This show is largely plot driven, and the tool they use to progress the ...

Trigun (Anime) add
This is a good no brainer anime that doesn't require much thought while watching, yet is so silly that it entertains on a primal level.

Story: What story? The story consist of pretty much a guy going around kickin the bad guys asses.

Art: Not amazingly detail or smooth, but the art matches the silliness of the show with the exagerrated face animations. Classic 90's anime with bright colors and stiff motion, but character designs were great and the environment was well done.

Sound: Voice acting was good and characters were distinct, the girls had pretty sexy voices. No real annoying ones either (jap version)

Character: Likeable characters, the ...
