I initially picked up Horimiya at it's first chapter, read until it had released chapter 4, though this is pretty good, but there's nothing left to read atm, so ended up forgetting about it for a few weeks. Well it's up to chapter 13 now and i feel it has atleast enough of a base to work a score outta it, and of course i'll eventually change my review once the manga furthers along a little.

did it based only on the fact that this is currently still an episodic release. It's true to say that most titles tend to start like this and eventually work into an actual story line, and i'm very much hoping that this one continues that pattern.
Well the story is your standard, "Friendless Boy" meets "Popular Girl" however things aren't just that simple, each of them has a secret that they don't want anyone to find out about, and through a turn of events end up finding out about each other. The story then proceeds to follow along in typical romcom style, introduces a few new char's, some comedy, some awkward romance, so on so forth, you prolly know the drill by now. Atm it's still in this stage, early in and setting things up.
I'm really hoping to see this taken into an actual arc here soon and get to taste what the author really has to offer us.
Art:8/10
Honestly, it's nothing amazing, it's got a few scenes here and there, but nothing over the top, flashy, or amazing by any means. I do particularly like the way the main male is drawn, and the main female while at home is a very clean and detailed image. Other than that, each character is identifiable, you can easily tell them all apart, and the backgrounds and scenery are about what you'de expect from a story like this.
Character:10/10
As most would know the characters are what make or break a romcom, and Horimiya does it right(so far). Both leads are truly interesting. They're being developed and it's actually fun watching how they interact not only with each other but with the side characters(not nearly as developed yet, but hey only 13 chapters in).
Enjoyment:10/10
Clearly i've enjoyed it up til this point, and i'm hoping not to be disappointed in the near or far future.
Overall:9/10
At the current moment only the depth of this manga is holding it back to a 9 for me. Once it's got some time under it's belt, has a decent chunk of chapters under it's name, and has had a solid pass at an actual storyline will i be able to give it a true score.
Like i said the whole episodic aspect of the manga is what's hurting it atm in my opinion(just my view on it, i'de like to see a truly solid flushed out story worked through))
As a whole it's doing something right atm and i hope to see it continue on this path, i can see this being something I'd be capable of drowning my self in.

To start off with the basics, number One, yes this is a Manhwa which means it's read from left to right (confused the hell outta me when i first tried to read Immortal Regis). Secondly this is the sequel to Immortal Regis, so please read it first, otherwise nothing in this Manhwa will make any sense to you at all.
Overview.
Like stated this is the sequel to Immortal Regis, but i'll be the first to say that it feels nothing like it until your a good 5-10 chapters in, your introduced to new characters, right off the bat, not

given much of any kind of background to understand anything, and you wont see any old characters in for a few chapters as well.
Based in the World of Chaos a new King has risen, Nex. the world is in disarray, new pacts have been made by the once powerful four clans, and everything makes perfectly no sense.
I wont go into any more detail than that at this point because.....well it wont make any sense anyways.
STORY:
Originally my rating for this Manhwa was actually a 7 being weighted down by a rather confusing and hectic story, but i will say after re-catching myself up it's starting to pull together a little bit better, and could possible look to be pulled even higher seeing as how this Manhwa is still quite new and in the works.
The story is actually quite compelling after about the 7th to 8th chapter when things actually start to get explained a little and you know a little more about the characters and what the hell is going on. It's really interesting and "exotic" i guess would be a good way to look at it, although not truly original, the base has been quite used, but Cavalier manages to pull through and keep you watching just enough to want to know whats going on. It's got a little bit more romance thrown in this time around(which i'm a bit of a fan of) and the action is still there plenty. Once you get a decent way in you'll be reacquainted with the past caste and the story will finally start to unfold allowing you to actually appreciate the work behind the confusing as hell start.

ART:
This is one of the places i'll say Cavalier really shines. Everything looks stunning, not to mention the amount of detail put into the surroundings, and the background, nothing is left out. The character design is much the same as Immortal Regis, which you wont be seeing me complain about. You can tell that alot of work is put into the drawing , every faucet of emotion is perfect, so much detail put into the clothing and simple things like doors, signs, and your everyday "scribble it in place" drawings. One of the things i really like about the art in Cavalier is it's "Sharp" nothing is rounded out not really flowing, which sounds odd, but the fact that it's sharp like it is makes everything pop when your reading and it flows amazingly well.
ART: Always a 9+ and prolly wont be changing
CHARACTER:
This is a hard spot to really rate right off the bat, because like i said your introduced to bran new characters right off the bat, and before your really given a chance to know them there throw aside (i doubt permanently, but they've yet to be brought back), nearly the entire starting caste is pushed aside after a few chapters. But then something quite amazing happens, your reintroduced to the majority of Immortal Regis's caste, and it manages to pull together better. But this time around a little less attention is places on Jae Hyuk, and Serin, and spreads out to the subcharacters a bit more.
Cavalier also manages to dive pretty heavy into the romance side of the characters, without destroying how you look at them, the way each character reacts to one another is perfect and even a return characters from Immortal fit in nicely. Each character does a great job of complementing each other without taking to much from themselves overall nicely done.

ENJOYMENT:
Really gotta say i do enjoy the read, mainly because i'm still hooked from Immortal Regis, i want to know what happens next, i want to see the fights, the love interest, i want to finally see the story play out to it completion so i can look at is and go, OK it makes sense now.
Enjoyment: simple 8 it's compelling enough to pull me in, but not enough to make me look 3 times a day to see if there's a new chapter.
Overall
Seven. "why seven" some of you might be asking, it seems solid enough atm, and i seem to like is so why seven. Well yes it's true the story has pulled together a little more than originally and i do very much enjoy the read, but for a sequel it's just not living up to Immoral Currently. The story is a bit slower and a little lacking in comparison, character development and build are still pretty good as well as the art(very nice on the eyes). It's just currently lacking in the most important area, the story, it's just not quite there yet, but like i said it's still got room to grow, and i will say it's starting to pick up a little bit.
P.S. i will more than likely completely change this review in a couple months when Cavalier is a little more backed and solid.

i have to say i was honestly disappointed with the turn out of this anime. The original manga is one of my top 3 overall, but as an anime it failed completely to live up to it's name.
Story: To start with, ya the story was there, but it was missing all the wrong things. Obviously scenes needed to be cut to get as much into it as they could, but frankly they cut all the wrong things. The two big things about the story that bugged me the most, is

#1 Every scene using the whole in Yamato and Suzuka's wall was excluded which was a very bad thing to take out in my opinion, those scene's where some of the ones that really made the manga shine, and i went into watching this hoping to see them, and was really disappointed when they weren't there. That said, there where other little things what where missing but that's the big one to me.
#2 THE FACT THAT THEY DIDN'T ACTUALLY FINISH IT. Only going to to the point when Yamato and Suzuka get together the first time was a huge disappointment to me. I wanted the whole thing not just the first half of the story.
Art: Nothing about the art here stuck out to me. There was a few times when i just went, well that's pretty of nice, but nothing was just eye popping wow to me. It seamed like the character's where dull, bland basically. They just never really seemed animated, like only the bar minimum was put into getting them finished.
The scenery wasn't bad, it was detailed enough, and some scenes really looked like they had some effort put into them, but those where only the defining scene, all the just normal scenes where just eh! at best, nothing really special at all.
Sound: This is an area where i'll say i was rather surprised. Sure it was mostly your typical mushy romantic soundtrack, but there where times when it was just beautiful, perfectly placed, and other times where they did a great job of substituting the soundtrack with the actually characters singing.
Character: I was actually decently happy with the characters. They where pretty much spot on with the manga, and overall i just felt like i could relate and knew them when i was watching, the emotion and the little signs here and there where very nicely done. The small side glances, and blushing looked great and did a perfect job of portraying how a specific character was feeling or thinking at the time.
Enjoyment: Well first off like i said I AM A HUGE FAN OF THE MANGA, so in relation the anime wasn't bad as a comparison. BUT i am very disappointed with it, I just didn't feel "IT" when i was watching. Sure there where scenes that i laughed, cried a little, and felt i could sympathize with, but "It" just wasn't there, the thing that made the manga great.
Overall: Basically if your a fan of the manga, watch it for nothing other than the nostalgia of it. If you've never read the manga it's prelly a waste of time for most, and it drops half way through the actual manga, so you only get half the story. It was a huge disappointment and to be perfectly honest i'm going to have to reread the manga now to remind myself of how good it really is.

Ok first off this is a review, and my first one at that, so i'll try to keep it spoiler free. I'll present it following the sites scoring criteria.
Story: The story is for the most part solid, it's properly tied up at the end, though the ending was rushed. Suzuka didn't end on the note that it should have, but the author actually got bored with it, and didn't wanna just drop it and leave it open, so he just threw in an ending, that while yes it does tie everything up, and on normal terms wouldn't be bad, but in course

with the manga you can tell it just doesn't belong. The beginning and middle are both solid, not really any dry points, allways leaving me wondering how it's going to turn out.
Art: Not really much to be said, it's well drawn, and not much run around work, decent amount of detail but it's not really flashy or eye popping, but then again this isn't some kind of fantasy/sci-fi/WTF manga where the art would truely matter, it's first and for most romance, and the story is what you read romance for, the story and Character development.(next)
Character: This is where the story is properly told. The story revolves mostly around the two main characters, while occasionally branching to a diffrent character to provide some back story on them. Each character is properly developed, and i mean each, the main characters have the perfect amount of information provided, that you can understand them, there emotion, there past, and so on. The side characters are also well developed, while not having nearly as much development as the mains, your given just enough info on them through out the read that you can understand them, and not wonder, why the hell is something going on like this.
Enjoyment: While not for everyone, in it's genre it's a great read, and i enjoyed it very much, yes even the ending. There was never a point where i stoopped to think, "this is boring, next!" i lost sleep to finish this, and it's something i'm happy i did.
Overall: Like i said above, though not for everyone, fans of school life/slice of life/romance and everything in between will likely walk away happy they read it. It's well presented, properly developed and not til the very end is it rushed in anyway. As a single piece it's well done, and left me happy that i lost as much sleep as i did to read it.
