I give this an honest rating of 4/10, "Bad", simply due to the fact that the manga is just that. The author trying to incorporate heavy themes like e.g. sexual assault and how said heavy themes are handled is simply perplexing, disrespectful, careless, cheap and weak. The author is clearly uninformed and ignorant in this matter.
Now, I was never able to put everything I feel and think about this manga into words but after a reread years later I can confidently tell what I could not before;
This manga is disgusting (to me). It is disguised as this complex journey with deep, complex characters and,
...
as the main aspect, this complex and "philosophical" take of "All is in the way of the world and can not be inherently bad. Everyone/thing is loveable.".
Whew, that is a lot to take in.. not really. I mentioned it being a diguise. There is many a moment that these "commandments" of this "intricately crafted" mindset deeply anchored in Nike are being played out at once. It tries so hard that is becomes this uncomfortable and foolish way of thinking "everyone deserves a 3rd and 4th chance no matter the crime, there is no true evil, forgive and forget, accept everything, even rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, kidnappings, extortion etc."
It gets wild to say the least. And this is the downfall of Nike, the major character that is a part of the lifeline of this manga. But ruining is too mild a description. She goes up in flames and is reborn as a vile spawn of brainrot incarnate. Her mindset becomes so exaggerated that she starts to lean into a satirical pretentious and selfish character that has wholly different morale, thoughts, actions, feelings etc., why would she need to hold dear every single evil being and every one of her abusers.
She shows traits similar to how her early character was established but is a new and infinitely worse character and everywhere she goes turns to ruin aswell.
This all alone would not be able to tank my enjoyment and personal rating to a 4/10. That is solely due to how chapters ~90+ go.
"If you don't like or can't stomach this content don't read!!" or other statement don't hit. It isn't about what happens. I don't care for NTR and that stuff. I care about how it is introduced, incorporated, how it plays out and how everything around it is handled. The problem lies with the manga as a whole from this point onwards. It turns into a skewed over the top fanfic version of itself. A parody. It reads a little differently...
It reads like the excerpt from the mind of a rape apologist. Someone trying to tell you that "he didn't want to kill the 70 innocent people, he was deeply troubled!", someone telling you that "she chose it by wearing these clothes". A person abusing characters (in happenings and writing) for shock value. For drama. For easy pages.
How I can dare to type that? It is the truth. Nike is fully disconnect from any bad thing that happens to her (even the attempted rape) to then play out the aforementioned mindset of hers. It never comes up again. She is shaking for 3 panels and we move on from ever mentioning it again, even to Livi, to then help her rapist shortly after and show signs of some bond having been created.
I feel embarrassed whenever I look at any panel working around one of these events.
I have seen people compare this to other works of similar nature, other Shoujo manga, other long running series and the one that stuck with me the most was someone comparing it to "Akatsuki No Yona".
The difference is: this manga is a stupid formula Shoujo that started off in its lane but tried to be something it was not and could never be due to the author's inability and unwillingness to properly write around themes that take a tiny bit more brain capacity than "owo hot 2nd ML flirts with FL and she sways~ beach chapter next!!".
Akatsuki No Yona has multiple instances of terrible writing, terrible dynamics and relationship management, a often questionable and unenjoyable female lead and unsatisfactory romance (progressed at mach10 after having been abandoned for so long).
And still, it is infinitely better than this work even if only due to the fact that the author didn't try to force in deeper thematics when combined with e.g. kidnappings (Yona classic). They acknowledge flaws and use them as an advantage. The author really knows they are doing and it shows in how the story flows, even with major flaws.
This manga had NONE, zero, not a single one redeeming quality at and from that later stage.

This is Shoujo. Straight up following the formula to a T. But it is so perfect in its formulaic attempt that it oddly enough ends up the most generic shoujo manga I possibly have ever read. There is no substance, no depth, no unusual dynamics, no story, nothing. It just is Shoujo.
The manga starts with a bang, you're in the midst of the rocket taking off. It felt fresh the first 2 chapters and it was quite enjoyable getting to know already established characters and relationships this quickly. You know what you're getting into and what you're gonna get.. until you don't. It doesn't deliver.
That
...
is where the freshness ends. I will make this short. The manga is solved instantly, that is how heavy the 2 introduction chapters were. What was established leaves no room for interpretation and angst isn't really possible. Any character introduced from now on will only have so much impact and further character development (mainly FL) is pretty much locked into one certain direction.
This is a huge problem in this type of manga, it straight up can ruin certain characters and whole dynamics in a singular chapter if handled poorly.
This also is where most fun and enjoyment is lost. You know. Everything. And whenever something weird/uncomfortable/angsty happens it mostly feels out of character with just how heavily the FL was established.
The manga has all the classic tropes and clichés but they don't flow properly and make the FL look even more stupid than usual because of the aforementioned.
Their dynamic actually regresses from time to time and it feels like watching benjamin button but in feelings. Pair that with her actively losing her spine as the manga progresses and going damsel^2 with some questionable panels even for Shoujo standards and it just lost everything the first 2 chapters had going for it.
They turn into different characters but not because of progress/growth/development but because of shoujo elements. She HAS to neglect him, get uncomfortable close to other guys and get swayed but not due to events/happenings but Shoujo.
It seems like the usual and it isn't that different to most other average Shoujos but it is oh so different due to its initial approach. What was promised was not followed up on.
It tried to be too perfect right from the first panel and it ended up feeling pretentious, even if the overall setting and manga as a whole could've been enjoyable. It just fell so deep into that "I NEED TO SHOUJO" pit that it wasn't up to task.
The negatives just hit so much harder with that attempt at perfection, glaring issues e.g. regarding MCs are amplified x100. Same with other stuff like events not playing out properly. Or emotional connections. Or relationships being forced. Everything just ends up so much more obvious and, if bad, overall worse.
And still, even if the manga in a sense failed, it gained the right to call itself perfect in regards to being so generic at being Shoujo to a scary degree.
Absolutely read this if that is your cup of tea.

Not going to lie, the art baits into reading. And it stays grandiose all the way through. The general introduction is cute and the setting is unironically pretty good. It is a fresh take on an old story which most of the time struggles when in close relation to a major romance subplot. Did this one do well? No. Straight up, a deep sigh and resounding nope.
It goes ROTTEN insanely fast and a bit more enjoyment is sucked out after every uncomfortable and questionable NTR-bait and insult.
And when I say heavy, I mean it. More on that when I talk about ch12 and
...
the overall state of romance (I do not spoil).
After reading, before I was able to pinpoint what was wrong, there was this tiny slight feeling of disgust I couldn't put into words, some emotions and thoughts that just couldn't be shared properly by myself yet- until I read the review of Co1d and fully resonated with it.
Chapter 8 was when it began. I personallly wasn't fully on board with what happened this chapter and how she behaved. It felt different from before and some specific panels made me wonder if there wasn't more to it. Whatever. Author surely has a reason.
Chapter 12, I actually had to step away for a second and question her as a character and what the author's true intentions and plans were. What happens story-wise is fully predictable, only her character was EXTREMELY different again.
Page 18 weirded me out a bit. Surely this won't go there, right...? I am worried at this point.
Page 21-24 hit. Huh? Full blown NTR-bait-tomfoolery, I still don't understand how she turned so nasty and vile towards MC in a singular chapter. This is well past giving in to desires. Where is this all coming from? This is starting to read like a different genre of manga, well, more like hentai? All her values and self-respect and respect towards MC just poof. Gone. No writing to make it happen.
The manga's story and their dynamic and relationship were quite enjoyable up until this exact point.
She talked about work 0/17 speech bubbles and lusts for the alpha hunk for 17/17. Make it make sense. It surely makes no sense to me with how her character was established.
The MC himself was slightly out of character but fully in his right with what and how he said it, considering how she was randomly changed and acted. Some consistency, I guess? There were other issues with MC but they weren't nearly as direct as with her. A convenient but lame character introduction and questionable fanservice are the worst ones.
Now, one could try to go "whatever" and move on, treating this as nonsense drama that will just fizzle out anyways. But that just isn't the case here at all. What was done in those last panels of ch12 and onwards completely undermines the romance subplot and how it was built from the ground up/built upon.
Her character is now so far gone that true and genuine mutual love is unattainable for the MC. She is actively being rebuilt into the "damsel that doesn't know love"-trope with sprinkles of "I always have been an animal in heat that wants any hot guy!" to further spite the MC, it seems. The author is branching into so many personalities and traits.
This is the author's way of chickening out, going for terrible writing and the easy way out- better not have to deal with a psychological tag, LOL!
Just play it down and act like it never happened to this insane of an extent. And the author does just that. The romance is picked up from before her hypnosis(?) primate behaviour and just tries to progress as if shit never hit the fan. But it feels overly artificial. Everything she does feels forced. Well, apart from the countless times the author showcases the hate and revulsion (my interpretation based on panels and speech) she feels towards him.
Sadly, she actually gets away scot free. The situation never gets resolved, its existence is full on denied. It might've been an outcry on socials/forums or poor sales, Idk. But all this stuff will keep happening from now on with how the story is being set up. Great!
From then on there are many moments like ch14 p18 where she makes a snarky and hurtful comment, making fun of him and attack him in a passive aggressive manner for something he is rightfully allowed to feel. So cute and wholesome.
Same for ch16 p13. Or ch17 p10-12. This one surprisingly had a bit of actual character development happening but it had to open with her, once again, indirectly insulting him/acting negatively towards him.
Ch18 p12-14 are a secret favorite of mine. Played off in a comedic manner, insulting him to the highest degree and being plain evil. She should just block him and move on from him if she feels THIS negatively about him.
For every bit of progress and time spent on one wavelength there has to be a page of her absolutely ripping into him and his complexes mental being and physical appearance. Comedy and Romance gold. Heh.
I will be honest, I used only one eye to speed through the rest of the TLd chapters. Her actively shitting on him and their relationship becoming a major plot point was appalling to me. Their dynamic is not enjoyable anymore. I still don't see them ever truly being able to see past what has transpired and for a genuine mutual romantic ending to happen without crazy wild major asspull.
This is below elementary school mental level and romantic understanding as of chapter 23.
Read this if you value wicked good art over consistency, likeable characters, a well made and deep story and positive, wholesome romantic progress that is organic in how it feels.
Read this if you fancy a tsundere on crack that is one of the most toxic female leads in any romance manga ever that the author has randomly indirectly self-realize that she is a slut (ch21 p10) and is otherwise mentally impaired when the author needs her to.

A 5/10 but recommended? Hell yeah! If you like the SHOUNEN part of Shounen series, this is your holy grail. Everything that is not SHOUNEN is of exceedingly terrible to annoying-but-bearable quality. Most of the characters are one-dimensional, lame and poorly written. Mina the fraud and her being allowed to exist the way she does is a crime and platinum medal contender in mental gymnastics.
Finger deep worldbuilding and glaring issues whenever taking a deeper look into 80% of characters, backstories, the world around them, relationships and other stuff? No problem. I PROMISE!
The "story" is mid and loses steam the further in you get and
...
Mina and her dynamic with the series itself still sucks major balls after 100 chapters?
WHATEVER. HEAR ME OUT.
This isn't "shut off brain while reading" level. This is "deny the existence of certain characters and plot points inside the verse and enjoy the rest" level. !!!This series is what you make it. It is more of a DIY project or a puzzle that can end up being quite enjoyable!!!
The story might be weaker than average but certain events and moments that get enabled and allowed when not having to look at Mina not say a singular proper important word, being unnecessarily toxic and oneshotting another enemy because muh plot are just sooo incredibly fun. The best time is to be had when these cringe "I am Sasuke 2.0 edge strong uwu pitty me but no repercussion" characters are nowhere to be found.
It is a delight just watching Kafka exist, struggle, grow, fight and even just breathe. Some of the support characters like Kikoru and Ichikawa are some of the best support characters in any manga ever and their dynamic with Kafka and the rest of the cast/the series as a whole is just *chef's kiss*. They also get a huge amount of individual development and story.
But even with all these weak spots and so much going wrong it objectively still is a good Shounen. The fights are great so long as Mina isn't involved, powerups are not too asspull and characters actually work towards them in some ways and the shallow story is shallow enough to be able to jump right in and not feel lost/overwhelmed and still understand what is going on.
If the series wasn't as greedy, shoehorning in all these fake depth characters and plots that just are straight up poorly written dogshit I would've loved to review it as a pure Shounen and rate it 8-9/10. No joke.
As for Mina and me ripping into her this harshly- she is a poorly thought out character that has no proper place in the series as a whole, solely functioning as a tool that is Sasuke on crack x10 that just doesn't work when thought about more deeply and that is a detriment to all characters and events around her. She is the godfather example of the formulaic Shounen deuteragonist having infinite agency over too many characters for no real reason to showcase the most vile and demonic behaviour/acting to get away for free.
Characters act unreasonably whenever she is forced into a scenario. Events play out in the most unfun way. Actual character regression and retardation happens when she NEEDS to be a part of a bigger plot, which thankfully does not happen too often. The reader has to endure her only a handful of times across ~100 chapters.
The author wanted her to have this immense impact on everything around her whenever she appears but it does not work. It always feels artificial when paired with the fact that she herself, her power and her relationships with 90% of the cast factually are fraudulent.
Read it. Honestly. See it for what it is and only for what it is. Everything it tries to be is not worth jack.
I will keep reading the series until it ends and I will most probably enjoy it as long as it stays on track.

Hey, huge Angel Beats! fan here, even if the anime was the only content that I consumed. Dunno what to think about this one as someone who only watched the anime, tbh. It is cool that new stuff is being put out in 2023, all these years later. I just do not fully understand where this is supposed to be headed and question some of the character choices.
It feels endearing and wholesome but at the same time there is this weird tone being set early on that is, to me who is anime only, weird and slightly uncomfortable.. is what I'd describe it as.
6 chapters
...
in and I can say: chapters 2, 3.1 and 5.2 were not fun at all to me or atleast parts of how they played out and mostly ended. It felt a bit too much on the shoujo front. Again, anime only, Takeyama and Takamatsu were pretty different characters from how I knew them apart from that one major quirk they had. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. But how their relationship with Tenshi is rushed in these short ~19page chapters to have them end up just randomly full on falling in love with her had me shake my head IRL, not gonna lie. Would've liked something more friendship-funish.
This manga has these wholesome and fun-comedic/out there humor moments just like the original but I am actually dreading other male cast members being introduced right now. There clearly is no chance but with how they both acted and how Tenshi is portrayed in this, it felt like the usual setup to a reverse-harem, lmao.
I just really didn't like the subliminal vibes in these chapters. Did she need to instantly get princess carried by Matsushita after meeting? (I know about Hinako atleast and this chapter had no real romantic implications unlike ch2 and 5.2, still..)
This all just sets a, for me personally, slightly dangerous/brittle precedence of characters being reintroduced to be ever so different even if otherwise quite similar. It isn't end all level at all, I just hope that these two instances, in 3 chapters mind you, were the only ones.
I am looking forward to meeting some of my fave characters from the series and hope that they will all get some time to shine- not that this isn't the case in the first 6 chapters, I just think that how some of the more serious stuff was handled is not the way to go (6th time, anime only.. correct me if this actually is a reverse harem and I just never knew about it, lmfao).
I did have a laugh every now and then, btw. The absolutely out there random comedy feels like true Angel Beats! to me. Love it.

Great Shoujo. Filled to the brim with cringe and overdone tropes and cliché but it works pretty well. Nothing is overbearingly annoying to a degree that actually hurts the reading experience. I have only one but quite huge nitpick and that was Hachi from chapter 25 onwards, more on that below. But there are 5 other great things to talk about for that one thing.
Making this one quick. All characters are enjoyable. The annoying other guy, everyone's friends and even randoms/tools that are one and done. You never have too feel too strong about a character and that is a refreshing approach (apart from Hachi
...
at times from ch25+).
The story is the usual shallow school experience. Nothing too innovative but it is fully believeable and fun. The events and flags themselves are enjoyable and you never feel like reading is a drag and that you just want to get to a good part. Everything is just plain solid.
Now, as for Hachi from ch25 and onwards.
The author tried to forcefully give her fake depth which greatly hurt her character. A huge part of this manga was characters asking "what is love to me" and "how do I want my love life to play out".
It did go in a weird direction at times with how open she was but that part was amplified x100 from one second to another after ch24. It came out of nowhere and there was no real development that could cause that change in her.
Ch25 somehow pushed her having this idea of "love is free and everyone has to love" -> "I will just enjoy many men loving me". It goes pretty hard and fast and she does, says and thinks many questionable things in a short amount of time. Ch25 heavily leaned into them having some pseudo open relationship- I hated this chapter. Not because of what happens or the open relationship part, but because how it all is forced out of thin air and everyone but one character is just okay with it.
That was not them. It was a spineless MC that was clearly hurt and the average emotionally cheating FL from every cheap shoujo ever. It was honest to god cuck-play.
The next 2 chapters were able to defuse that idea and the tension it randomly brought but the damage was done.. I was honestly incredibly weirded out. The long distance relationship in these chapters is well done, as is the timeskip. Idk why the author couldn't just stay consistent until the end.
To finish things off, the last part of the last chapter has to, for no apparent reason, go back to that open relationship feeling, which she seemingly wants?... and she imagines kissing another guy after her group had a talk about cheating and when cheating actually becomes cheating. It is played off in a "comedic" way involving multiple parties but I honestly felt actual disgust reading this part. Welp. I still just act as if that didn't happen and moved on already. I did love how the author had Mizuno call her out for that in a little extra page.
Also, Mizuno was fully forced by the author to play along with her being a bit too open with other guys- which was not true to his established character at all. He was visibly distressed at times and we as reader knew he isn't fully on board but he did let it all happen for some unexplained reason. Must have been the wind.
Again, this is 100% just the author trying to add some fake depth to her otherwise pretty shallow and one-dimensional character. She was incredibly naive for a long time and even her liking to flirt/be flirted with (which already was a random escalation of her character in ch25) is okay... I guess? But this went beyond just that into "hey, why don't we try with one more person. Maybe this guy I know? ;)" territory. It was uncomfortable and, as mentioned before, not them.
I am happy that it didn't go quite as far as Haru x Kiyo with the "long distance relationship = mind weak and absolutely has to cheat" or Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun with how her relationship with the 2nd guy was treated (says she also loves him romantically but stays with ML, puke). Some saving grace, indeed.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this manga to people liking actual shoujo that doesn't follow the terrible formula so many others have been using. It has that one HUGELY MASSIVE glaring problem but others might be able to see past that part. It didn't break the manga as a whole for me personally but it did tank the enjoyment towards the end.

This one is pretty hardcore. Possibly even the most hardcore "otaku loves male idol more than her parents and gets a boyfriend?!?!" shoujo romance manga. It does try to cater to people liking "mature romance" and older characters, both working quite well with how they balance their lives in an authentic and at times even relatable manner. This also results in some unsual gap moe. It is mostly generic in pretty much any other aspect.
Let's start with the otaku part in itself- it is endearing, wholesome, cute, dramatic and so much more. I did not think that there would be this many ways to use
...
that "I am fully obsessed with this male idol" shtick to write enjoyable events, outings, conversations etc.
BUT, big but, the otaku shtick is never properly used to its full potential when in tandem and related to the romance parts of the manga. There is so many questions and doubts that would be interesting to know about (it has been 30 chapters..) but there is only silence and I am still waiting; does she love the idol more than him? (she often does imply so in her monologues and solos even until ch30), would she leave him if the idol gunned for her? (a minor plotpoint that was not yet further pushed, she apparently has chances to meet him and it is a shoujo + implications related to last question), how far will she carry this insane obsession into the relationship/her stance on him doing it(e.g. the pillows)?
The every so uncommon non-otaku romance panel has the romance as a whole fall flat and feel like any other not properly explored and underdeveloped shoujo.
The romance moments that are not masked by otakuing are sparse. One can count all genuine love moments between both on two hands. Other than that, all questions asked before are applicable here. We are fed bits and pieces until the most recent ch30 (again, chapters are most often 5% romance, 85% otaku swoon and 10% (most often the last bit of the chapter) her monologuing how much she loves and obsesses over her idol).
Them being otaku is clear from the very beginning. We quickly get to know how deeply it really is rooted in him. We then, even quicker, get to know how insanely deranged deeply it is rooted in her. He is full on invested, a strong character trait of his, and set on his idol to a rather healthy degree, even if more than the usual otaku.
She is taking things a step or two further and we get to listen in on some heavy monologues at times. It every now and then is pushing past that "still healthy.." border even if done in a comedic and not too serious way. It can actually be cute and funny but it can also make the reader question her and the genuinity of her feelings (some things she said and thought had me step back and be like "did I miss something?", "who does she love more?", "is she taking pitty on him and saying this because her idol just is superior in every single aspect?"). But alas, that is what the manga is about and I am not too mad about it. The whole setting is just that overexaggerated.
As for anything non-otaku.. there isn't too much. Their daily lives are consisting of 90% "idol did this is doing that and going to do this then, catch you guys later, I need to watch the live in 30". The otaku stuff is the manga's strongest aspect but it can become overbearing when looking for some.. human moments, I'd call them.
This is where another major issue stems from- every new character has to be an idol otaku or look like one. True, you are mostly going to meet people with similar hobbies if said hobby is the most important thing in your life. I just would like them to more often do something together without talking solely about their respective god.
Many times all characters are on the same wavelength and the "story" somehow does move along but they all talk past each other and it boils down to "hey, oh wow your idol did what? nice merch. Anyway my idol this that this, wow you look like my idol, woah you remind me of my idol etc." -> "well, let's go".
I'd say that the stated above is in regards to the human moments. It can feel like they look past everyones mortal human self and they end up in his irl-discord call-mood, is what I would describe it.
Finally, the potential was there. Well, it still is but we are 30 chapters deep and none of the interesting and strong qualities of the manga were used to push to the next level and to pump out some interesting content that is not just rehashed soujo panel #100.
I will keep reading, this manga and its characters are enjoyable. I just can't rate this higher than a 6/10 as there just is too little that puts this apart from other run-of-the-mill shoujos.

First off, the 1/10 rating is legit. Also, the tags are off. This is a reverse harem (she actively seeks out many other guys and cheats with them on ML) with adult themes (questionable consent, violation, forms of cheating). This reads more like Smut than Shoujo. Chapters 13, 19, 36, 44 and onwards can be hard to stomach for the average shoujo enjoyer looking for some sweet shoujo free of actual hard NTR and her cheating.
Now the reason for the 1/10 rating; The main story ends at chapter 40. The climax is actually okay and it feels like this is the true end which isn't
...
only terrible- you can walk away like "whatever" and give it a solid 5.
SADLY the manga keeps going, without a proper story. There is only one quest now which she actually endulges and likes: "Try not to cheat on your husband" (I am sadly not kidding, this is in the manga).. From here on the reader only sees her being a full on slut (ch44 that was quick, lmao) in a setting that she herself allows that just fully 100% ruins her. The author is taking every stupid thing she did before and amplifies 10x. She is disgusting. Everything she does is absolutely disgusting. No saving grace, period. Read NTR-gangbang mindbreak hentais, same shit just with more action.
There has been a total of 2 wholesome husband-wife moments as of chapter 53 and a total of 13 (borderline-)cheating moments (actually her own choice, ch47-48 xdd). She is resisting even less than before, even liking it in some panels. It is so fucking weird, lol.. She has to be written by some incel is what I believe at this point. No way in hell could a normal human being abuse a female lead to this extent and fulfill every deranged incel fantasy in one go. "Meek woman like strong men and open for them oogabooga" + the "she owes every male physical intimacy and love" classic.
Again, I wish I was kidding. This is not enjoyable and I don't really have a problem with the NTR and adult themes. All writing involving her is just simply dogshit.
The art is clean and pretty good for "just another shoujo". There is some good ideas, most notably the whole "love goes beyond gender" plot that is established early on. Other than that, questionable consent is huge in this manga paired with actual self (most) and not-self NTR that ends in different forms of emotional and physical cheating (mostly done by FL herself).
This is extremely rare in shoujo and some people might just really like it. I personally have a problem with it as the first 12 chapters were relatively vanilla to then randomly be bombarded by different genres- felt like a bait and switch.
The characters are some of the worst ever, in any shoujo ever. It starts off reasonable and we get some quick introductions which are pretty transparent- you know who will play which role instantly. No biggie, might be on purpose... is what I would type if the characters weren't all so insanely inconsistent. It is actually infuriating at times (looking at chapters 13 onwards). The writing in these chapters is atrocious and incoherent. It mostly stems from how the characters behave so differently from what the say but the story is just a tangled mess that makes some characters look plain retarded.
Some of the stuff that happens is criminal with zero repercussion- what happens how it is allowed to happen is something not even a writer with mental impairment could come up with.
I won't spoil in this review but shame on the author, turning a reasonable FL into a weak, meek, infinitely easy and unloyal husk. There was some insane mental gymnastics involved to "develop" her into whatever this is.
Again, I don't hate everything that happened but HOW it happened. Important.
As for the loser that was used in tandem with her stupid offscreen changes, he goes way too far and everyone knows. But nobody is doing shit, she is the one resisting the least. He has infinite power over all characters for no real reason. It goes some steps further and she literally develops some full on selfNTR-stockholm hybrid. Her acting like nothing happened just a panel after and allowing him to manhandle her some more is so fucking bizarre to look at after getting to know her.
80% of the same could be said about any other male in this manga. They aren't as important but that does not change the fact that FL willingly has to present herself on a silver platter for every male to freely use. "But she doesn't like it!!" after seeing her swoon-blush and engage in physical activities. Eww and puke.
It is unironically sad and I irl felt bad for what was done to her by the other characters and by the author while at the same time absolutely despising her character.
I only kept reading to see how bad it can get and oh boy, the author managed to go beyond the worst after 40+. Kudos for that.
"But it is shoujo hurrdurr" A heartfelt stfu to these people. The characters sadly are incredibly inconsistent, that is fact. BUT this story was different before said chapters and had the chance to be something different than 80% of shoujo that are "weak FL is used and manhandled by every guy so cute". This is a bait and switch.
The worst part is, there are random short moments (sometimes only 2 panels) where all characters just wake up and behave like conscious beings with reason and feelings not just as tools that need to do one thing and then fall into obscurity. This is dementia: the manga. I do feel bad for it but caring for it eats you up inside.

The perfect 10/10 age gap comedic romance that was going on for the first ~25 chapters is a mask. The genre randomly turns into a whole different one and the story as a whole changes from a deep and probably one of the best to ever do it age gap shoujo into "watch your lover fall for another person, in front of you in real-time and actually emotionally cheat for no reason and change into a completely different character randomly". Psychological tag, btw. NTR fans and alternative-love fans, this could be just for you peeps. Unironically. Chapter 38 made me puke, lol.
Sensei is done so
...
incredibly well and never does it feel like a weird fetish or wish fulfillment manga. The Sensei character is deep and human, making the age gap work in a realistic way that also still plays into the Shoujo demo without being overbearing, cringe, uncomfortable or cliche. Watching him think, rethink, grow and change in regards to many different things is the only saving grace at this point (ch49).
She WAS a solid and consistent but still fresh and fun character. Her actions and interactions MADE sense, her way of thinking and what we knew about her feelings MADE sense. Her character is 80% different from ch35 onwards. It MADE sense, not anymore. There was nothing that happened that could've swayed her this much this quickly. She at some points after ch38 is becoming self-aware and even calls herself a two-timer- to no avail. She just keeps acting weirdly disgustingly.
She suddenly loves the attention. Suddenly completely forgets about Sensei. Suddenly swoons for another guy in front of Sensei. Flaunts matching accessories and gift in front of Sensei *puke*. People might say it is an opinion but it just feels like full fledge pseudo emotional cheating.
I legit feel sorry for Sensei even if he still is considered only her guardian. I thought this is a true age gap with one party showing true unconditional love. That is not the case anymore. This was IMO her most interesting trait but it simply is not there anymore. Poof. Polyarmory fans could rejoice, if only the other guy wasn't such a disgusting wimp manipulator hypocrite.
It sucks. That's it. It is not enjoyable what happened to her and how her group of friends is handled. The idea was okayish (even if questionable); add to the age gap by having her get close to people her own age and fully realize what she wants from and with Sensei. But this is where gold turns into shit, literally.
We start with her already fully committed to him. Her character is established in a way that allows huge amounts of growth, true. But that is the one point that was consistent and gave so much depth to her psyche, feelings and actions. The author was in too deep at this point. There is no way anything could've happened to make her behave like she did in ch38-40/45 but author said "wait, wtf am I doing, how do I progress/drama?" It is all random forced asspull, completely ruining her and her most enjoyable aspects.
She acts as if she was dating that cringe brat, fully enabling him even if brainwashed. I wish I was joking but the author is making her look EASY. WTF is chapter 38 or 45? Fuck off. (No spoiler, just exaggerated explanation of her as of that point)
As for the antagonist, the brat has no real impact and there is no suspense. Everything he does is selfish and only enabled by her (after author force changed her). 90% of what he does would never be allowed by her but author wanted her to be a cheater all the way so just have her let him have his way with her! *puke*
The character is annoying. But not in the "Whew, the author really did well here, I hate this char! Well done, author! Great char!" Nope. He is poorly written. He could never exist without the aforementioned asspull changes to her. He gets away with so much stuff that would be unthinkable before. At times we see him acting like some super villain but nobody reacts to it? All friends seem to tolerate him but they all kinda know that what he is doing is completely selfish and wrong but it just plays out so poorly in a way that makes you question all characters but Sensei.
Why should you care about the conflict when it feels 100% forced, enabled only by god's grace and too far almost every time without any repercussion, ever. They all let him manipulate her to the highest degree. He says stuff that should make her hate him instantly but author just brushes over it with another half empty panel of some funny closeup X( :3 or whatever face. Lame.
I wholeheartedly can say: do not read this manga. Yeah, I could go for the usual "read until x and just move on" but what was done to her character is absolutely vile and a kick in the readers, MINE, face. Can't mention it enough, but fuck how Hiiragi changed the whole cast's dynamic and how he freely can manipulate her and exercise power over every character. A heartfelt L author for ruining what could've been THE single best age gap Shoujo.

Could've been a 9/10 but ended a solid 6/10 after chapter 31+. No problem with that, btw. But how did that happen?
The manga starts off insanely strong. Everything feels like a breath of fresh air. Both MCs are high school level clumsy without shoujo-brainrot disease. The drama isn't 10x exaggerated and other characters have more screentime than usual before doing something and thus infinitely more impact than in most other series about romance. It feels like actual romance with a small trope and cliché every now and then- and it works oh so beautifully.
There also is a cool twist after around ~20+ chapters- won't spoil
...
too much but some side characters get time to properly develop. This has been done before, no doubt but the side characters being enjoyable makes it so much better. BUT this is also the downfall of the manga and where the author failed.
Now, why the rating? Chapter 31+32 straight out of left field BAM huge explosion, kick in your guts then your face and then a suplex finisher. That is how you feel reading chapter 31 immediately after 30 and the end of the side character's story.
There is some kind of.. introduction? (like 4 pages) to this huge massive drama. Clearly won't spoil what it is but it is the cheapest, out of nowhere, lowtier poorly written drama I have seen in a long long time. It is BAD.
"Surely won't be this bad!" No, it is. Yagyu is force-changed randomly to fit and force the drama. The drama is building on the aforementioned 4 pages. It is a sudden major problem that never came up before and warrants them both getting a wake up slap to their faces. Who are these characters? It is not the characters that were established for effing 20+ chapters.
This drama is the polar opposite to my first paragraph.
That is also why I called that twist the downfall of the manga, it is an interesting idea and went spectacular but author just forgot how his MCs behaved after 10 chapters, lmao. It also goes against the past 30 chapters of the manga as a whole- this is formulaic youtube tutorial level trashy shoujo-brainrot drama that has no place here. It is fully forced and comes with changing established characters in 2 panels. They regressed even past their starting point. It is NOT enjoyable seeing your loved characters turn into toddler-like tools.
And that's it. 2 chapters and it instantly is over and everything is back to before.. huh? What the fuck was the point. The last few chapters kinda catch the series and act as a saving grace but for me personally, the damage has been done. It really tanked the overall enjoyment and changed how I see the MCs.
I still would recommend it, sure. I honestly think that the writing took a nosedive ch31-end. Other than that it still is a really enjoyable shoujo manga.
