welcome to my page
Hi, I'm short_reviews and I make short reviews or at the very least I used to until the mods removed all my reviews. They were removed for obvious reasons aka bad grammar, incorrect spelling; look they were in fact short reviews. Don't worry, I'm still trying to get back into writing short reviews that won't get me obliterated, it's just taking some time (it really isn't im just too lazy).
current status updates (01/07/24) - (m/d/y) (yes im using month day year - cry louder):
- i still have unfinished seasonals from spring 2023 and fall 2023 nice
- surely i will find the time to start frieren, catch up to jujutsu kaisen s2 (but tbh ive been spoiled so much for jjk that im honestly not that interested and invested in the show), and plan a rewatch of hibike euphonium and mushoku tensei before their next sequel seasons in spring 2024
- actually wait i forgot about my yearly winter seasonal uncensored ecchi show god i cant believe i actually have one seasonal show to watch
The Story: Technically watched my first anime in Summer 2017, but I only started to consistently watch anime and follow the medium during the first week of January 2018 and I still I am, I guess.
Top 10 Anime listed below are my top unforgettable experiences that I've had while watching a show (if that makes sense to you), ranked of course. These shows are listed regardless if they aren't that great when viewed in an "analytic point of view", haven't aged well, etc.
(silent bracket window placed to point at gakkougurashi) Anything that I would give a 10 would be either fit this description or not fit this description but still be just really really really really good to a point where I just can't (pending to probably change). On the note of giving scores, I'd say I rate pretty highly and I should probably change a lot of them because I made a lot of these scores in that era where you think that everything you watch is good, or at least decent and fun. (like a lot of my scores that are like 6 - 7's are in this basket)
Currently, my top 10 manga is just a whatever goes really. I haven't read enough manga to really make an unforgettable experiences list or just a normal top 10 manga list yet.
dumb bonus fact: i use my on hold list for shows that are either on hold or shows i actually want to watch and i use plan to watch for just the shows that haven't aired. if they have aired, then im either just too lazy to take them out or have zero interest in them and am too lazy to delete them, both are combinations of me being lazy okay dont ask me why old habits die hard

as i am writing this i am finally catching up to hibike by rewatching the first two seasons through the recap movies, literally the one time where it is reasonable to watch a recap movie how crazy
although im like pretty damn sure that the recap movie for season 2 pretty much cut out the entire camp arc like whaaaa, like with the first movie most stuff felt intact even though it was significantly shorter, but woah
yknow to be honest it really isnt hard to like watch anime, its just that like i dont have much reason to start shows nowadays
also this weeks mushoku tensei episode HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITS TURNING POINT 3 TIME OH GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
no i still have no idea when the hell im going to actually start watching shows
as much as i would like to rewatch some old shows for their new sequels this coming season, i honestly think im just gonna just watch them, but maybe some sort of recap i have no idea honestly
for now, i suppose you can say i have bigger priorities or whatever, this is just how it is i guess
hopefully by may ill actually have watched some stuff or well caught to previous stuff
no i have no still not watched anything, its actually been like 9 months since i last finished a show to its end
at this point if i ever start coming back to binge stuff like i used to
it'll just happen randomly some day to be honest
though i guess i have to start recapping myself for spring 2024 so maybe i'll start watching stuff soon
i totally didnt forget to like log in because i havent been watching any shows at all this season
i promise ill catch up like soon or something idk
uhhhhhhhh hey see you in like april probably because actual shows crazy
wait we have the entirety of march to get through still great
but also so soon like this year?????????????
ok back to sleeping on anime i go
anyways i guess my 6th full year of watching anime will soon be over then (although this year barely counts) and i guess we're gonna be starting my 7th year of watching although probably more like following anime stuff
guess i really didnt catch up to anything before new years isnt that great
well whenever i feel the need to make a post then i guess ill make it here
still wondering what ill look into over the course of winter 2024
2023 has really just been that year for me where its like: oh i dont have to watch every single seasonal show ever
its not like i didnt want to watch the shows i do seasonally but its just realizing i dont need to be a seasonal watcher. anyways, this will probably continue until spring 2024 because wow winter 2024 is looking DRY, well for me at least, and then spring 2024 is dropping with like what 5 sequels that im actually hype for
only real things i can see for winter 2024 (with minimal viewing) would be the 2nd half of frieren which i have not started, solo leveling if the adaption is actually good and lives up to the source material somehow, and dungeon meshi maybe because the animation look good or something idk
so yeah currently 1-2 weeks from winter 2024 and 3 shows is all i can foresee me possibly watching
with that being said i should probably start jjk s2 and frieren already because the last show i fully finished was last spring
wait oh yeah the final 3 zom 100 episodes dropped today didnt they i should probably get to that as well
yeah you see the problem now everything just stacks up and up and up, see you in the next year if i remember
though i do plan to break this streak by watching frieren because ive seen tidbits of it and it looks really good so uhhhhhhhhhhh i'll post again when that happens probably in january i guess
so how has your day been going
so uh i think the ending is actually pretty good now??????????????????? uhhhhhhhhhhh i dont know i kinda respect and like it a lot more now
I'm actually really glad the series ended off on such a memorable yet nihilistic ending.
Like yeah it's quite similar to the Code Geass ending where Lelouch became ruler of the world and then by his plan, died so that the rest of the world and everyone could live without dictatorship. But in AOT, the future of war and destruction continues as seen in the credits.
Now, you could ask questions like, well then whats the point???, but looking more into Eren's character in the finale, we see that he has all of these regrets of not being able to live on with his friends, trying to change the future only for nothing to change, and having to kill nearly the entire world. He calls himself an idiot who has too much power and despite his genocide that he clearly resents as seen in 131, he still decides to go through with it as he knows that this cycle will repeat. From 138 with Mikasa's long dream of what could've been if she had told Eren her feelings, nothing had changed even without the rumbling as one side will always be trying to kill the other as that's just how the world is.
Overall, the nihilism of the ending just fits AOT's world perfectly. While Eren does manage to fulfill his goal of giving his friends the chance to live long lives by getting rid of all titans, their joy is only temporary as history repeats itself years later. Attack on Titan's world was never the sort of world that ever had happy endings, it was a cruel place where any sort of victory would come with the cost of sacrifices, similar to our world. It was a extremely cruel world with glimmers of beauty and I'm glad it stuck to that in the end.
Don't get me wrong, there are many conflictions with this ending. I still do think that the entire last episode that adapted 139 was very rushed and confusing. Like there were just so many better ways to introduce the whole conversation between Eren and Armin and I feel like so much is just inferred as the writing feels off. I really don't know how to put it into words, but just the dialogue between the characters is just "weird" in comparison to how they were right before. And yes, I do know that the anime did change up and add that one line about "meeting in hell" together which definitely does fit much better than the manga. But, this is just how I see the ending now.
I'm not gonna give this a serious score as I really have no idea what to give it but just seeing AOT come to an end is going to be something I hold more dearly over whether or not I think the ending has problems. I'm pretty sure that it's the series that I've been following for the longest ever since I started watching anime in 2018 and I've kind of been falling off of anime lately. But with AOT's ending, I kinda feel like it's time to come back now. While I could go on about other things like how not having to avoid any spoilers anymore is also gonna be really weird and the hellish production that was the entirety of S4 aka the FINAL season, the journey has finally come to its much deserved conclusion. To everyone who helped contribute to the AOT series with MAPPA's production especially, I hope you all get a really long break.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII THEY ACTUALLY PUT THE END OVER THE TO BE CONTINUED END CREDITS WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
THIS IS LITERALLY EVERYTHING IVE BEEN ASKING FOR SINCE LIKE 2019 WHAT THE HELL ITS ACTUALLY REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
ok "the end" title card aside, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok look i already knew that the ending was like controversial and rushed or whatever you want to call it, but i can still definitely see the sort of like reasoning and meaning behind it, even if it was weirdly written and definitely rushed. Wouldn't say the aot ending is bad, but not like great either i guess, more like a smart ending with flaws, quite a few.
slightly late but oh hey that attack on titan thing ends today doesn't it huh
its weird to feel that after these like 4 years of final season "baiting" if you will, that im actually kinda starting to feel that YES THIS IS THE END OF THE STORY, which after experiencing it like 4 times now is kinda weird in retrospect.
can't believe it's finally time for attack on titan the final season part 2. so this is really the end huh.
oh well crunchyroll release is in 7 hours, incoming website crash, but uh yeah i guess ill make a 2nd post when i watch it or something because ive been posting about the final season ever since part 1 dropped, yes we are at part 4 now.
on the side note, i have started watching literally ZERO shows from fall 2023 and still have not finished spring 2023 stuff. call me burned out or whatever, but i feel i no longer need to watch the seasonal fillings that i usually always do for the past few years now at this point. its not like i dont watch new shows, like if a new high profile show that i KNOW is gonna be good then ill watch it obviously like sequels and what now (i say this and i havent started frieren or jjk s2). thats not to say i dont enjoy a quote un quote "lesser quality show" from time to time, but im kinda lingering with this mood of just not really caring for anything i guess. call it life getting harder or me getting older or something but ill be back to watch stuff i feel the most interested in like mushoku tensei s2 p2 and hibike euphonium s3 and stuff like that yknow. well this has gone on way to long for a monthly post so uhhhhhhhhhhhh see you in whenever i watch the finale
also how the hell is linked horizon doing the opening where the hell did they just disappear to for like 4 years
havent really been watching/reading anything well apart from like zom and mt but i already knew i was gonna like them
kinda feels like im at a point where i can just stop watching shows even though theres still like a billion things i havent watched
maybe ill come back to actually watching anime in a few months i dont know it might just be one of those fake burnout things
also if you cant tell already by my anime history, ive become a hoyoverse game addict like who actually lists nu wushen de canzhuo s1 AND s2 its like man i love cooking with valkyries i cant believe they adapted all of the manga
maybe when the yuanshan genshin anime comes out ill come back for real but we dont even know what the hell the long term project is anyways like all we actually know is ufotable and its an animated series
wow this monthly post is long probably the longest one ive done in a while
wait was i talking about not watching anime bro attack on titan the final season season 4 part 3 the final chapters part 2 episodes 1 - 4 chapters 135 - 139 finale FOR REAL THIS TIME drops in literally one month what am i saying
