WOO, the red outlines, vibrant colors, very eyegasmic. The music, don't get me started.
No Game No Life.
Life itself is an endless game of preoccupation. If you aren't playing anything, then you sort of have "no life" as to say.
If you're somewhat of a gamer, this echos a pretty strong atmosphere of an escape from reality into a "reality" with endless possibilities and potentially boundless adventure, action and mystery.
I think we can all relate to the main characters. Spawned from nothing, dragged into a world that is fixated on "growing up" and tossing away enjoyment that serves no greater purpose. Hit with sort

of a debt. The debt of keeping and sustaining life. Being something we don't have to be, doing things we don't need to do, caring about things we don't care about.
Story(7/10)
No Game No Life depicts society as a bunch of people in business suits that for the most part fixated on the maintenance of their image on how they appeal to society. We follow 2 NEET siblings as they are taken away from reality into a mysterious world filled with the logistics that everything is settled by a game.
This makes life there feel more vibrant and exciting. Who doesn't like games? Competition is rather quite fun.
But the story is sort of generic, lots of harem, lots of eech, basic alt. reality plot but this by far is one of the best in it's genre of fantasy and escape2gamereality. Everything is a gamble, there is a risk, people cheat, it's one hell of a challenge.

The girls in this anime are pretty generic although I haven't met any character like Shiro before. Harem, tsundere tropes everywhere

Very much enjoyed. There is an intrinsic challenge in that humans are the weakest race in terms of physical strength and almost everything else. It makes it all the more interesting on how they are going to punch through their tropes and limitations. The chess analogy was spot on.
Overall(7/10)
If you're in it for the entertainment and you're a gamer, just watch it.

It is hard to conceptualize suspense and "horror" into a manga opposed to a motion picture and Neverland as excelled greatly at capturing these elements without the need of competing in the contest of "who can draw the most creepiest creature" or jump scares.
Starting off with the Story(1010):
The story is suspenseful. As the time of writing this,(25chapters or so), weekly this series DOES NOT fail at the slightest in chapter quality, maintaining the suspense and keeping you wanting more and more. Humans are fed to monsters and are raised in a "farm" where they have to take tests and such. Our protaganists, Emma,

Rey and Norman are all trying to escape with EVERYONE, without knowing anything about the world.
There is sooo much mystery , which is primary what reels you into the story. The plot is minimal, simple, but it has potential to open so many doors. I would say Neverland is the perfect balance between simplicity and "complexity".
Similar to Death Note, if you like brains vs brains, you'll definitely like how this story is handled.
Characters(10/10):
Our characters are very unique and mysterious. From a psychological standpoint, it is very interesting to see how they interpret the truth of the situation about being cattle.
What matters in this category really is if they are distinct and that you can set them aside from other series. Not going to write too much since the series is still in it's early stages.
Enjoyment(10/10):
A PAGE TURNER. Itching for the next chapter, constantly delivering quality spot on chapters that leave you shunned in suspense. An intense battle of wits, a huge cloud of mystery that awaits!
Overall(10/10):
Death Note fan? Brain vs brain? read this. This series excels in capturing horror, suspense, and delivers blow after blow of suspenseful quality chapters.

I think its pretty obvious where the fan base draws. The % of boys and girls who enjoy this series very much is split. Truth is probably 70%+ girls find Noragami to be much more entertaining than guys... probably cause Yato is visually stunning in physical appearance.
That's not to say guys aren't a victim of this also. Series that please both genders that are gut wrenching, fun and touching are preferably ones I'd lean towards.

recommendations and seeing as to how it is #1 on a lot of peoples anime lists whom of which ranked it above particular series that I found mind blowing, seat shaking, heart aching tear jerkering, nerve racking, overall explosive.
SO I WAS THINKING THAT THIS ANIME WOULD ASCEND ME TO HEAVEN!
And... it didn't do anything but be very very very average. I was not shaking in my seat really wanting the next episode and this series did not make my heart ache so bad, nor was it a tear jerker.
In fact, there are plenty of other series similar to Noragami but deliver much more impact, which I will list at the end.
Story 7/10:
Yato, the god of war basically is unknown to the modern age compared to other Japanese gods such as the god of luck, etc.
If a god is forgotten, it will greatly harm them, hence Yato runs an odd jobs business, doing any job for about
(5 yen)5cents USD. Hiyori, your typical teenager saves Yato one day but for some reason didn't die because she has some quirk or something special. Here we follow the adventures of Yato as he tries to survive in the modern era where gods are being forgotten.
I've seen this plot in (Odd jobs aspect)Black Cat, Gintama, Bleach(with the whole boy meets girl situation) and various others.
It's not that the story was bad but it was poorly delivered. They eventually go off on their own(too fast for my tastes) and strayed from the fun "will do anything for 5 yen" formula.
Art & Sound 10/10:
Great. I liked the opening. Very fluid animation, nothing to complain about really.
Character 7/10:
Yato supposedly is every girls dream guy(in real life, not the series). Hard working, very hot, playful, strong, mysterious etc.
His character is pretty fine but very bland? Similar to Kirito from SAO and that main character from "The Irregular at magical highschool", these characters are very static, and a little robotic. I mean he does have some traits that make him unique but nothing that leaves a dent in my memory.
Hiyori: most typical highschool female heroine..... 0/10 character, I forget of her existence sometimes.
Yukine: Very annoying teenage kid. Also hardly anything that stands out other than I guess he appears "cute"?
Enjoyment 7/10:
As said earlier, I wasn't blown out of my seat itching to watch the next episode as the atmosphere drags me into the show. I didn't really feel the heart warming inducing story that would make my eyes teary.
If any how, seeing Yukine develop was pretty annoying as it went back and forth with this mushy concept of "purity" and how you have to be withdrawn from the 7 sins, particularly lust and greed.
The action was meh, towards the end it got pretty good but not good enough.
Overall 7/10:
OK series. Though Black Cat, Gintama, Assassination Classroom, Bleach and Inyuuasha are series with very similar aspects that deliver much more impact.
This series was really an "ideal boy meets girl and takes her away from normal life"...
There's not much that stands out from this series that makes me want more or prefer it over a different series. The characters were pretty average, the plot was good but didn't deliver well overall
this is a very lacking series.
And the last 4ish? Episodes were filler... soooooooooooooooooooooo ... all it did was push the Hiyori-Yato ship... personally I even noticed: " this doesn't seem like the style I've been watching so far..."

I absolutely HATED the story because it is the most cliche series up to date.
The whole "I want to be a superhero" plot has never really done it for me.
Though "Cliches" only exist because certain plot elements have been done so many times before,
but this ISN'T A RACE ON WHO DOES IT FIRST/EARLIER, it's about WHO DID IT BETTER and
Boku no Hero Academia by far delivered immensely.
Story 7/10
The story revolves around Midoryia, whom of which has no powers in a world where
super natural powers have been given to practically everyone. Midoryia despite not
having any powers still wants to become a hero and tries
...
to pursue it.
This series made me feel/cheer for a character(Midoryia)
quicker than any series in my entire lifetime of anime and manga, it literally
only took 2 episodes.
THE CHOSEN ONE!
In anime/manga, it takes time for you to care about the characters.
For example, Luffy from One Piece, Naruto(9 tails), Edward from FMAB, Gintoki, Yato from Noragami,
Okabe from Steins;Gate, Lelouch from Code Geass, list goes on and on...
practically every single series takes you 10 episodes and or 20 chapters or longer for you
to care about the main characters. If any of the main characters die right near the beginning
you'd probably shrug your shoulders and not give a shit, because quite frankly
they ALL have that "CHOSEN ONE" trait.
They're all good and or a natural at something
born with some special skill or some hidden power or some destiny to fulfill or some
trait that gets them a harem or some girl/guy suddenly protecting/taking a liking to them asap or they are born hot and good looking.
It takes time for you to take a liking to these characters, to develop with them and start cheering for them because most likely
they're better off than you are.
As said earlier, Boku no Hero Academia made me cheer and feel for the main character straight off the bat very quick, which I will get into.
Characters 8/10:
Midoryia is not born with nothing. He isn't physically attractive, he doesn't have any powers, absolutely nothing.
I take that back.... he has BELOW nothing. He has a negative value of .. infinity.
His body is pretty weak and fragile, his self confidence is tinier than an ant, the list goes on.
Not only is he below nothing but he's shoved to the ground.
His doctor tells him to just give up his dream, he constantly gets laughed at by society, pushed around, beaten up.
I take it back, he isn't shoved into the ground... he's shoved into the Earths crust.
No support from anyone, he smiles and sucks up the pain when getting laughed/beaten by society, doesn't fight back and cries, continues forward, and its sooo utterly painful to watch.
Like... come the fuck on, GIVE HIM.... JUST 1 TINY CHOSEN ONE ASPECT LISTED ABOVE FOR FRICKEN SAKE.
One remarkable plot point that this character has is that anything and everything he will do and recieve in the future will and if not be 10000% EARNED.
Out of all the series I've watched so far, none of them start from below 0.
Midoriya has to work very very hard just to even touch 0 in this world. He earns everything he will get. Even more touching is that he'd probably go Saitama(One Punch Man) and be an unofficial hero if he loses his mind. This show sends the message that if you aren't the chosen one, take it and make it so you are.
Aside from Midoriya, rest of the characters are pretty cliched, not really much to say, hardly focused on them yet.
Also noted, there are HUGE battle flaws in every character which personally grounds the series to more realism

I give all series this score, as long as animation is consistent, and music matches the mood, I don't really care.
These categories are way too subjective, hence I don't really bother.
That noted, the music in this series BLOWS ME OUT OF THE WATER. Highly impactful emotional pieces.
Enjoyment 10/10
Seeing Midoriya go from -1000 to 0 and then hopefully proceeding higher in the future is what made everything enjoyable.
The sound track matched so many scenes well, this series delivered a punch straight in the gut.
Overall 10/10
"Cliche" to some, but when you look at it more distantly, it blows your mind. Maybe it could be because it's so relatable.
If you're born with a silver spoon, you might not feel what this series is conveying.
As said earlier, this isn't a race on who makes it first, but who makes it better and by far this series blew me away.
The reasons why I'm giving this a straight 10/10 is because it made me care about a character in the matter of 2 episodes than any other series does in 100s

"I'm your average college student, life is normal but everything changed when I met him. I fell in love and had kids."
.... THAT'S IT... No struggle, just a normal teenage girl who lived a "normal" teenage life with hardly any hardships.
You know when you watch the news and you hear something tragic but you can't do anything about it and just go, "Oh.. or Ah.." because it doesn't effect you and it's been said and done soo many times?
This is exactly what this anime movie is. There is hardly ANY development for you to care enough about the characters. Everything just happens way too

quickly. There are hardly any character flaws, this is if not one of the worst slice of life series ever.
Everything as said earlier is very static. My reactions are just "oh... ahh.." to practically everything, like I was just noticing what was going on. There is NO weight to any of the characters actions and hardly any depth either.
Art was fine, sound was fine, but for goodness sake, add some character flaws, make them feel more vibrant, not static robots.
This movie hardly made me "feel" any emotions. At the end I questioned .... "What...? What was I supposed to feel? Sure , as said in the synopsis
"Hana, a hard-working college student who becomes a mother", BUT EVERYONE'S A HARD WORKING COLLEGE STUDENT. I COULD CARE LESS.
If her past revealed she grew in a terrible/poor household, and is trying harder than anyone in college so she could lift herself out of poverty, I would have felt much better.
"falls in love with a mysterious man who attends one of her classes though he is not an actual student"
I swear to you this happens in less than... a millisecond. Love at first sight is fine but there is no exploration as to why other than physical appearance.
THIS MOVIE PUTS DRAMA INTO THINGS THAT DON'T NEED TO HAVE DRAMA. It leaves so many things unanswered like, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS OF OUR MAIN CHARACTER? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO FEEL?
Most of the movement in this movie is.... of course a hard working mother doing motherly things like cooking and such but, there is no weight to any of this. She choose this life, her life was and is easy and it still pretty much is. Dose me up with something that will bawl my eyes out pleasee. "Slice of life". Well, life has much more drama than this.

Gintama is like a toilet seat.
(I don't know if this applies to women.... please tell me...)
When you want to take a dump, where do you want to do it?
Most likely at home right? Where your ass is already used to the shape of the toilet seat and it just... you can't explain it but.....

I mean, when you use the schools toilet or anyone else's toilet, it just feels weird and even uncomfortable.

When you get used to the toilet seat though(most likely not because you aren't going to be shitting that much) it's going to feel great.
Like your home toilet seat, you can sit on it for almost an unlimited amount of time, and its just going to start feeling right again.
The same logic applies to Gintama. People never take the time to get used to it's weirdness, but once they do get comfortable and accept it, you'll have almost nothing that can compare to it. You'll be able to watch/read Gintama practically forever and not get bored of it, because the characters are very unique and fun.
If no one feels this analogy, I'm probably just weird.... I would just replace everything with farts and apply the logic.
I wrote a long Gintama review but it got deleted, but if I find it, it'll most likely be on my profile or posted sometime in the future when I add more to it.

Ahhhh One Piece, the most loved and or hated series for being loved.
When I was little, I actually didn't like it compared to various other Shounen manga running at the time. The characters just seemed way too silly and uncool.
Wasn't until I was bored and picked up the 10 volumes of the manga from a local library that I noticed I was turning the pages like crazy. I ended up spending the whole night catching up and before you know it I got hooked.
But why?
The main characters power is literally stretching. It's goofy, it's silly, it's like... how the hell are you going to

win m8? Compared to everyone elses advantages, yet it works and flows.
Enjoyment 10/10:
It's just something about the flow of One Piece.
Small spoiler: First chapter, The main character gets sucked into a typhoon, goes into a barrel and wakes up later. You'll see many more of these instances of this later on.
This opens excitement in a sense. Where will the characters land? What's going to happen? What kind of wacky place are we going to end up next?
Overall 10/10:
TL;DR : One Piece is a very silly comedic action and adventurous series that emphasizes on world building and mystery.
It's a very almost near perfect balance of wacky comedic+action that somehow still stays serious. It has a extremely CRAZY world(don't want to list out the things),
literally. It's like if a cooking series were to turn into a full blown mecha and then a steampunk.
Yet it still oddly, it fits right in. I even question it, about how a series can jam so much and still work.
Fight scenes feel more entertaining and unique because most often it's silly how the characters fight.
Most series emphasize on how serious a fight needs to be, how its violence and it shouldn't be fun but One Piece brings out the FUN in violence, similar to the fun and chaos in GTA(Grand Theft Auto).
One of the big tropes of One Piece is that it has quite the "dark/tragic" moments to balance the wackiness and show everyone that there is something going on. This makes it appeal less "edgy" and more balanced, giving you the best of both worlds.
Story 10/10:
The plot is to find the One Piece, a treasure in the Grand Line. Just establishing this alone already raises mystery.
Does it even exist? Where the hell is it? Why hasn't anyone found it?
This sets up a large expansive world alone and braces you for a long wacky adventure.
You'll see the most weirdest creatures, weirdest things yet it still magically fits.
This is all centered around Monkey D. Luffy, an ambitious boy set to find it. What's interesting about this protagonist is that he just defies logic of your expectations.
For example, normally if someone asks you out on a date and you reject, you'd expect that it would be the end of it, but Luffy would defy your logic because screw you, that's why. He'd make you want to eventually want to date him, which is quite funny when you think about it. He just does what he wants and hopes to move forward which adds to the wackiness of the series.
Of course he has the goal of wanting to be the "Pirate king" and finding the treasure "One Piece" but, what the hell is the "Pirate king"? Are all pirates going to listen to him or something? This adds sort of a mysterious deeper vibe into the series because no one knows what the One Piece is , nor what the Pirate king does.
Art 10/10:
During the bloom of the Shounen, a lot of manga followed the whole "big eyes" style(Naruto, Bleach, etc). In fact, it was mentioned that the editors/Jump were worried about Oda drifting towards this style.
One Piece has been heavily criticized for looking terrible but I see it as unique, not following set standards. Its tolerable, some backgrounds even look gorgeous. I really don't know how to rate/critique the annoying and complex topic known as "Art", so I give it a 10 for ever series because I'm if not more entrenched into the story to care about the looks.
Characters 10/10:
You will see the most weirdest characters known to man. I don't want to spoil too much but every character has their flaws, hence why a pirate crew is needed in the first place. It shows itself that no 1 person can be an OP badass and win all alone.
Shounen Powerup argument:
A lot of arguments of why people don't try One Piece is that it seems like a friendship powerup series. Looking through all the battles, only 5-10% of it was. The rest is just pirates running around wanting to push forward to their goals.
Logically speaking though, why is this trope so hated on? If a close friend of yours gets hit, you probably will get angry and upset leading to a power up as blood and adrenaline rushes through your body since you're mentally preparing for a fight or flight scenario.

Was meh. The universe of Tokyo Ghoul is very small and if you don't like any of the characters, you won't like this manga.
Story 6/10:
The premise about Tokyo Ghoul is centered around the ghouls and the ghoul hunters. There isn't really an end goal/end plot. It was mentioned way in the beginning "let's unravel how and why ghouls came to existence" but that really hasn't been covered much as far as I'm concerned. New characters are introduced often(sometimes just out of nowhere) in one of these 2 factions, they get a background story and some foreshadowing and then they go off and fight or something
...
really. Oh and you get a good amount gore service if you're into that.
A little spoiler, I feel like it's the same antagonist all the time. Rize, Tsukiyama, and Jason? All of them have that edgy "torture, power power power" trait. It's annoying.
Art 10/10:

Characters 7/10:
Not too bad, some generics around but overall, eh. Some of these characters are just flat out there for the gore service. Not many "unique" traits in terms of characters if you are an anime veteran. These characters do have unique designs so its not all bad. I really didn't sympathized with any of these characters. Actions of the characters seem very very predictable and I often feel like I know where/what they are going to do next, which spoils the thrill for me.
Enjoyment 6/10:
Was average. Tokyo Ghoul emphasizes a lot on characters and gore but
I prefer stories with much more emphasis on atmosphere and story. It started pretty slow and things were hardly explained in the beginning. Everything just seemed like it was being thrown. Here's your main character, here are the ghouls, here are the ghoul hunters. Sometimes you even get thrown characters out of nowhere when things are pretty calm.
Overall 6/10:
If you like character driven, gorey manga, then this one is the right for you.
If you have the feeling of no end goal/end story progression, then this series is absolutely not for you.
Mystery is pretty great but it is hardly explored because of course, this is a character driven manga.
The series isn't bad but I would recommend Kamisama no iitoru or Deadman Wonderland for the best of both worlds in terms of mystery, characters and atmosphere.

Dirty and minimal comedy, Simple, Mindless, Hyper rapidly paced with ravaging action with a unique punk like style.
This anime is a hit or miss due to that it doesn't follow the tradition of other anime.
Fan service rant:
This anime has been critically riddled with complaints about its fan service.
I do agree that it does have some unnecessary fan service but it really isn't that bad compared to other anime's. This anime purposely FLAT out shows fan service. It's plot is centered around clothing and it makes a good point, that we were all born naked. Most

anime's have fan service revealed accidentally by having a character trip over a rock or something of that nature and magically reveal everything. The men in this series are literally just as nude as the women in this series. Whats the point of nagging about fan service when both genders are on the same page?
Story - (6/10)
You've probably have seen the "revenge" plot very often followed by the "I need to grow stronger" cliche before. The story is flat on simple and cliched BUT the major difference is, that its really hyper paced. Every episode progresses the story MASSIVELY. The pace of the battle content is excellent and does not hesitate to move forward quickly.
Personally, I was surprised it went to into psychological and sad themes . There are a lot more things behind the scenes than just fan service action.
For example, The main character Matoi Ryuko, fantasizes about having family, and friends due to being abandoned and alone for so long. She wanted a normal life but was given lies on top of lies.
There are many other more themes but I do not want to spoil them.
Art & Sound (11/10) -
"simplicity is the ultimate sophistication "
the art is why I decided to try this anime. Its unique, its not following the same old animation I see in every single other anime. Its sloppy, its fun, its seems lazily done. I seem to like low budget animation because I'm tired of shinning HD animation. This may be a negative for people but I enjoy its unique engaging art style.
The sound is just brilliant. Its a mix of English and German songs. It suits this anime because , of its unique in terms of animation. Its filled with rock themed guitar melodies which matches this anime's unique character styles.

Characters - (6/10)
Extremely cliched.
Matoi Ryuko is your average punk girl who fights with not only her enemies but with herself to become a better person. Her design is unique and I personally love the red and black color combo.
Mako is your poor clumsy ditsy girl who loves to eat a lot. Her family lives in poverty but they manage just fine. Pretty well actually.
Satsuki is a well disciplined samurai female who looks down on everyone. I have seen this before but the difference is that, Satsuki does not lose her resolve and turn into a Tsundere.
I do like Matoi Ryukos rocky attitude and Mako adds some funny comedy.
I sympathize with a good amount of the characters(Mako living in the slums and Ryuko growing up alone). I didn't like Satsuki in the beginning but she showed some very strong moments and eventually became a character I liked.
The villains are just cynical sadists with little to no reasons of why they are antagonists in the first place. They are flat out simple and do what they do for fun. To me, that's good because I really don't want to see another cliched tragic reason of why they turned into villains. Also this matches the punk like style of the anime.
Enjoyment - (10/10)
Simple hyper paced progressive action. Every episode again, progresses the main characters goal MASSIVELY. No need for dramatized arcs of training.
I really did not intend to binge watch this series but.... the amount of satisfying plot progression I got was overwhelming. There were a fair amount of plot twists too. I'm a sucker for action and this anime is almost PURE action.
The comedy in this anime is a hit or miss. Its dirty crude simple humor. I don't see this much in anime so I enjoyed it. Its not the best but it made me have throw some chuckles and laughs here and there.

If you're looking for anime's that has to have something hitting something every second, this is it. A unique style of anime in general with mindless hyper paced action. 0% romance, and it does not turn into a harem either. Perfect for satisfying your lust of action.
Why did this not deserve a 10/10?
In a way, it does highly excel at its proclaimed genre and does not turn into a romance. But there are some repeated scenes/themes I saw coming and it isn't fun watching the character go through the same thing over and over. Also some scenes were kinda weird. I mean, Mako's dad whos like 40 spies on a 17 year old in the bath when he has a wife. Kinda ehhww.
