Dr. Stone (Manga) add
Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (216/237 chp)
read on as senku uses the power of science to save the world. that's the premise anyway, and so long as you don't ask too many questions and hold on to that dreaded suspension of belief you're in for a pretty good albeit forgetful time.

this manga is really more of a showcase on the progression of science and technology, how it advances civilisations and how we determine it's purpose. and then it finds a way to expertly meld that in with the typical shonen themes of perseverance, determination, courage etc

that being said, it does have it's flaws. the artwork is rough in a couple of ...

straightforward, clear-cut, simple story. and a neat little addition to the vampire genre.

there really isn't a lot to be said. i thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. it's one of those titles that you just can't stop reading; page after page, volume after volume. and a lot of that really is owed to the presentation. you start off with these gorgeous colour pages in most volumes which are then followed by the traditional black and white. although, with a bit of a simplistic artwork which works in favour of the comic. the order of events and the shift in perspective is also pretty ...

Akumetsu (Manga) add
Preliminary (43/162 chp)
lazy, boring uninspired piece of work. this comic has very little, if any, redeeming qualities. it is a literal waste of time. it just isn't good. hell, it's not even mediocre. it's just downright terrible.

the basic plot, while utterly uninteresting, is not much of a crime. a vigilante that seeks to stamp out scheming, corrupt politicians is a story that's been done a million times and will probably continue to be done for the rest of the time. the only problem with it here is that it seems to be done so poorly. almost everything is illogical and incoherent and while there are events happening, ...

a pretty good short read, although it does feel a little stretched out towards the end.

this type of story tends to crop up a lot in teen media and this really is more or less just the same thing. can't really complain about a whole lot. it is a serviceable story and i do think it'd make for a good week-end read or even a couple of hours. and while this doesn't have much to do with anything, the final chapter is definitely the most interesting.

if i were to have my gripes, they'd be centered around the lack of chaotic events. yes, there were a ...

Mixed Feelings
Serviceable, fair, decent. a real lukewarm affair. 'Message to Adolf' seeks to be an epic of a comic, and while achieving that to some success it is ultimately underwhelming.

A big part of this springs from the fact that the core premise, the reason we're to be so invested in this story, what is meant to get us hoked, is so terribly uninteresting. It evokes zero emotion. Combine that with a bit of a boring cast and a series of events that leave no lasting impression and you have this comic.

Of the three Adolf's, only one is really interesting in any sort of way and ...

Gintama (Manga) add
kinda funny, kinda not. with a focus on action and comedy, it follows a continuous loop of 3-4 gags(sometimes connected, some standalone) followed but a "serious" action filled arc. this gets repetitive quick and makes for a terrible reading experience.

the gag sequences really just serve as introductions for the action focused parts and are really just a tool for cast expansion. thes first couple of times you go through this loop you enjoy it. there's thrills, laughs to be had and pretty cool swordfights. it seemingly has little to na flaws. as you continue to go through the loop and the novelty begins to wear ...

Terra Formars (Manga) add
Preliminary (220/? chp)
terra formars is a comic that you know you should hate but can't help loving. it's like a cheesy romcom or some stupid 90s action film. it's really not good but you can't help but smile and have a good time.

insect based zoomorphism might seem like a completely ludicrous idea at first but it works somehow. not that you're gonna pay a lot of attention to all the various insects. what really makes this a fun reas is the battles. whether against the roaches or among humans, the fights are exciting.

it does have it's faults. a flashback every 10 pages isn't helping anybody and ...

this does not need to exist. it is a long, exhausting, dreadful read full of the most useless and unnecessary series of events known to man. and slapping an AoT logo on it doesn't really help it out.

halfway into the first chapter, it's kinda evident that things are just going to take a turn for the worse. not that it's completely abhorrent but that it tries a lot of things and does not really succeed at any of them.

the art is ok. it tries to mimic the original AoT art but i did feel like the background art was lacking for the most part ...

GTO (Manga) add

completely and utterly uninteresting. GTO really just isn't funny, and for a aeries which relies heavily on humour, that does not bode well.

onizuka as a a super-teacher that teaches life lessons to his students does not work. not that it isn't plausible but the way that it's done is just uninteresting. it's the same ridiculous formula every single time, and there's only so many times i can be excited for the same thing in a different skin. the rest of the cast really don't help either

GTO takes on a somewhat darker tone in the later part of the story, while trying to maintain the ...

a group of young men that continue to fight for their place in the world despite all the pushback and the continuous stream of problems they face. rainbow manages to take a simple and timeless premise and make it utterly unrecognisable.

the title's biggest downfall is sacrificing good, simple storytelling for moments of spectacle. everything has to be an event and our heroes have to fight against oppression and horrid villains all the time. to put it simply, it suffers from delusions of grandeur. it assigns nonsensical character motivations at every turn and all of this makes for a horrible reading experience.

if you look past all ...
