I might be the only living anime fan that hasn’t enjoyed Death Note. The reason really is because it seemed to be gimmicky to me. It doesn’t mean this series is in any way bad, no not at all, it just isn’t my cup of tea as they say. After about half the series I began to feel less and less like finishing, counting the number of episodes I had left to watch. To be honest it is a quality series with many and more good features, themes, characters and ideas, but it just didn’t mesh with me.

The Legend of Black Heaven…well it is a slice of life/comedy about Rock and Roll and Space…the two are not in fact mutually exclusive you see. The series is pretty good for the year it was made in, which really doesn’t affect anything unless you are some sort of visual-anime-snob. The series is fun to watch and listen too, the music in my opinion is pretty good. You’ll enjoy this series if you like less slapstick styles of comedy (although there is some of that in there). Berserk has been over the years the anime I think about the most. It had such a good basis, the single best Manga ever penned, well in my opinion, but the series fell short by far. By no means is the series bad, but it leaves a lot of questions and strays very far from the manga in places. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, is a series that some people might discredit as either “childish” or “unintelligent”. The first is true in many good ways, the second is something anime-snobs might say. I must say I came into the series with almost no hope it would be any good at all, I mean something voted number one on an internet site, how could it be good right? Well I’ve learned to trust the judgment of the oh so wise internet anime folks now, the series was amazing!!!
