I think that there are certain anime that come along in our lives that make us rethink our current ratings. They make us rerate the decent shows and the above average shows. They make 7's turn into 6's, and 8's turn into 9's. Why? Because you really don't know where to put them. Here on MAL we can only choose a single number to represent how we feel about the anime. 7." Sakamichi No Apollon is one of those anime that confused me. Reading this review means that you're opting to know why.
Story: 7
Basic story. I think that often times in anime, if it doesn't have a show-stopping mindfuck of a premise, people rate the story lowly. I think that the only thing that matters is if the story is one that I can read about and then want to watch it. That doesn't make the story anything amazing, but it means that it has potential. I've never watched an anime based in the 60s before. That was cool. I've never watched an anime about jazz music before. That was cool. What the show lacked in is what it became in the latter half of the series.

I've got nothing but praise for the art in this anime. I kid you not, reading the dialogue wasn't my top priority a lot of the time. To me, the art was impressive. Usually in anime (or at least the ones that I have watched) they use very many lines. In this anime, they use blends. There's no line differentiating the skin that is shaded between the skin that is facing the sun; there's a blended transition. The fluidity of this anime was shocking. If anyone knows anything about anime, they'll know how there's usually a lot of corners cut when it comes to the art and animation. There's usually a lot of loops, and certain angles aren't fucked with. In Sakamichi, especially during their music scenes, there was nothing but captivation and awe within me. Like I said before, I've got nothing but praise for the art.

An anime dealing with jazz... that's incredibly cool to me in itself. All this anime got me wanting to do is listen to Moanin' on a endless loop. The beginning theme is one of those themes that I will doubtlessly be listening to over and over. Something about Yuki's voice paired with the lyrics of the song gets me in this audacious mood. Seriously. It makes me want to get off my ass, go outside and live. The ending theme though, I can't say the same for. It wasn't bad by any or all means, but it wasn't captivating. I'd stop listening after the first 5 seconds. Mostly though, the music was enjoyable.
Characters: 7
This is where the anime began to fall on its face. One minute, I love the characters. The next minute they're doing some horribly dramatic, unnecessary thing. The main character, Nishimi, is probably the worst of them all. He makes the same mistake over and over and over again and makes things a lot worse than they have to be. And it's all is over absolutely nothing and it often escalates too quickly. He needed a heavy dosage of plz calm the fuck down. Sen is a character that I liked for the most part. I think that he was too quick to throw a fist, but I liked him nonetheless. He was funny, carefree and a good friend for most of the series. But he wasn't immune to enticing very worthless drama. Besides his few minor offences of that though, he was a good character. Ri'ko... I'm on the fence about. I have this huge thing against lacklustre, personalitiless, docile females in anime. There are SO many and they're all SO boring. She was a nice character and she did have flaws, she was just a... I don't know, boring character.
Enjoyment: 7
12 episode anime that took me some like 3 days to finish. With that, I wouldn't say that it captured my attention that greatly. But it certainly held it. There are some anime that are just impossible to put down and there are some that are impossible to not finish, even if it's eventually. 3 days isn't bad, but considering that I'm out of college and all I've been doing is eating and working out, it's not good either. I think that in the middle of the series my interest dipped, just to peak again in the last episode. I kept watching though, which means that I enjoyed it enough.

What happened when I watched this anime, is that I didn't know whether to rate it a 7 or a 8. It was better than Kaichou wa maid-sama, which I rated a 7, but it was worse than Nana, which I rated an 8. What did I do? Change my rating of Maid-sama to a 6 and Nana to a 9 (plus it's one of my favourite anime, I don't know why it wasn't a 9 anyway). I was so set on rating this anime a 7, but I was really impressed by the ending. If it weren't for that, this anime would have gotten a 7, no question. Judging by the posts on the last episode discussion board people are very up and down about the ending, but in my opinion it was the perfect way to finish of the series on a bittersweet note. It also had me feeling for the characters more than I thought that I would, since I was never 100% invested in them. I was very impressed.
So is 8 an inflation? Sure is. If I could be more specific with my ratings, this anime would probably get a 7.5. Worth the watch, impressive bits, and slightly over average.

So, I was reading a few reviews for School Days, and to my surprise some people actually consider this a good anime. Of course opinions are subjective, and I can usually understand, but in this case I just couldn't let it slide. Why, dude? Why on earth would you actually consider this anime a good contender? It has pretty much no redeeming qualities. Because we all have our opinions, feel free to disagree, but I'm going to review this anime that I consider my greatest waste of time.

I've seen (which hasn't been a lot, so bear with me) they're all generally the same. 3, or more girls fall for the most uninteresting male lead, and calamity ensues. Usually these girls can have any guy they want, but they all go for the very lack lustre lead. Why? I don't fucking know. So, School Days is no exception. But what makes this anime's story WORSE than other anime (yes, even you, Tokimeki Memorial), is that there's literally barely any story at all. The main, Makoto, falls for this girl who he sees on the train. To his surprise, she likes him too, and they begin to go out thanks to his classmate, Sekai's, help. After a day of dating, and her not giving it up right away, he's suddenly uninterested, and that's when the story seriously goes to shit. Let me tell you, it's the second fucking episode. If you can watch after this point, then you deserve a medal. I don't want to spoil what happens after he realizes his feelings, but lets just say the story turns into a giant cluster fuck. Pun intended.
Art: 6.
Some people who hate the anime even praise the art. I won't actually praise it , but I'll note that it's leagues better than everything else in the anime. The main issue for me was the character designs. I hated the way every character in this anime looked. Every God damn one. I'm not a fan of characters with eyes the size of half of their faces, imo they look like they're in middle school and not high school, and whenever I see a profile of ANY of the characters, I cringe at the lack of attention to detail. Don't let me even start on Makoto's hair. Or Sekai's. Because trust me, I'll go on forever. Besides the characters though, the backgrounds are nicely done. The quality seems to take a dive towards the middle of the series, and only gets actually pretty good on the last episode.

Oh look. Another thing I didn't completely hate. Don't get me wrong, I skipped the OP's and ED's, but they weren't bad. In fact, I have heard A LOT worse. The in anime score was handled very respectably. I don't really have much to add about the sound, but lets just say that the sound and the art are the 2 things that this anime has going for it, if anything at all.
Characters: 1.
Oh my God, I don't think I've ever disliked an ensemble of characters SO much. Maybe when I watch an anime, there's one or two characters I don't like, but I literally hated every character in this series. They're a mess. Let's start with our main: Makoto. At the beginning of the anime, Makoto's portrayed as this fun loving, kind of awkward guy. But by the end of the series, he's just a fucking dickhead. A remorseless, soulless human. Mind you, it only takes 12 episodes to completely change this characters persona COMPLETELY. By the end of the series, he literally has no redeeming qualities. But don't think he's alone. Sekai, his classmate, is also fucking insane. At first she comes off as this fun, hyper, helpful girl, but by the 3rd or 4th fucking episode, you should know she's a bitch. A conniving little devil. Then you have Katsura: your typical shy, but attractive female. She might seem likeable, buuuut she's batshit crazy. I don't know why the creator of this show thought that it was a good idea to have ALL unlikeable characters with the most awful development I've ever witnessed. There's literally no one to root for in this anime. At least if the characters were portrayed well, I could hate them, but still respect them. But noooo. Take Death Note: by the end of the series I didn't particularly like Light, but I could still respect his character because he was well done. But the leads and secondary characters in this anime were allllllllllllll, as in every single fucking one, BAD. How am I supposed to like an anime when I hate all of the characters? Please, just tell me how.

Ok, I'd give my overall enjoyment lower if it wasn't for the "wtf" ending. Not going to lie, but that made watching this anime worth while. It's still a piss poor show, but the ending is just so lulzy, and off pace with the beginning of the show, that I couldn't help but love it.
Overall: 4.
What makes me laugh the most is how some people consider this anime to be a great psychological ride. Wtf? Did you and I not watch the same anime? Because, what the creator made was FAR from a good psychological. Honestly, all they did was ride on the out-of-ordinary ending, and hoped that it would redeem the rest of the series. I'm sorry, but that 22 minutes of pure lol didn't make up for that 11 episode hell I went through before hand. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd dislike a show more than Tokimeki (not inc. Mars of Destruction, ofc) but it's happened! And I would have given it an overall 3, but the ending. Dat ending.
Just a shit anime. Watch at your own digression.

-- After much (a little) thought, I decided to give this anime a 9, but I'm going to keep my review in tact in case you guys wondered why I thought this anime deserved a 10... YOU MAY PROCEED --
Brace yourself people: this is the first and only anime that I have EVER given a 10. All of my favorite anime that I'd gladly recommend and watch over and over I still only consider a 9. The 10 score doesn't mean that this anime doesn't have any bumps or faults; it means that despite these minor setbacks, this anime is great. Until I'm proven wrong,

there really isn't anything in my anime library that's worth that title. Even if they're a favorite.
Story: 9
Loss will always be one of the only human conventions that we will never learn how to deal with properly. Because when it boils down to it, how do you deal with the loss of a loved one? Someone who has been in your life everyday, you love them, you trust them, and suddenly: they're gone. You still have the rest of your life ahead of you, but they don't. And whether you miss them for altruistic or egoistic reasons, you still miss them. And there's really nothing that can cure that feeling. And no matter how unconnected to the death you were, there's still that crushing guilt that you could have done something. You should have done something. "What if I didn't let them walk home alone that night?" or "Why didn't I give them more money for the bus?" When you're older, you tend to have a better grasp on the world and how it works. But when tragedy strikes when you're young, how do you add up what just happened in your brain? Such things are impossible for adults to do. Because death is so hard to deal with, we all deal with it in different ways. We might lock ourselves in our house, pretend it never happened, try to compensate by joining a group, returning to the place that it all happened, and any other way. That's what these characters do. Each one of them deal with the death of their friend Menma in very different ways. After Menma passed, they all faded apart. But when the topic of Menma comes up, they find themselves coming back together.
Art: 9
The attention to detail in this anime is superb. From the way that they walk, to the way that they react; it's lifelike. More than that, the backgrounds and scenery are wonderful. You truly feel like you're with them in that quiet Japanese city. The character designs are another plus. Jinta, although his demeanor is lifeless, he has plenty of light in his eyes. Menma is absolutely haunting. White hair, white clothes and icy blue eyes. All wrapped around in a touch of innocence. Although she is years older in stature, she still holds onto that girlish charm that she had so long ago. From what they wear, to how they wear things, the drapery was well thought out. All in all, the art was something to be satisfied -- overly satisfied -- with.
Sound: 10
The in-anime score was spot on. The anime was riddled with soft piano themes, and realistic sounding background noise. The sound would either perk up, or take a turn for the gloomy when the anime changed its pace. If it weren't for the score, this anime would certainly not have as much of an emotional impact as it did. I find it to be an absolute gem when the anime has charming OP & ED's. There is only a handful of anime that I can literally say that I enjoyed the OP & ED from beginning to end (Lovely Complex, NANA, Death Note, Kimi Ni Todoke, Inuyasha). This anime has been added to the list of "theme songs that I'll be YouTubing in due time". It's not only the beautiful lyrics and vocals that make the OP and ED so great. I have to give it up to the picture that shows alongside. Stunning. It really wets your lips, and braces yourself for what is in store. A bitter-sweet, beautiful story.
Characters: 10
I can't remember the last time that I have watched a anime where the characters are so fulfilling. Maybe NANA. But as great as the characters were in NANA, they're still incomparable to these characters. Another anime that comes to mind is Lovely Complex, but those characters are fulfilling in a different light. Those characters delivered, but these characters take realism beyond the point of repair. This anime is an 11 episode series. I can seriously say that I don't think I've watched an anime this short (unless you count 5 cm per sec, but I watched that as a movie) in my anime-watching career. And somehow in that short period of time I was able to latch onto the characters. More so than some of the anime that I have watched with over 100 episodes. I think that that says something about the ability of the characters, and the genius of the creators.
Enjoyment: 9
You may be wondering, "Hey MLF (my username abbreviated hah), if you think that AnoHana is worth a 10, why is your enjoyment at a 9?" Let me start with saying that I really, really, thoroughly enjoyed this anime. The only downfall is that it took me a few episodes to completely get enveloped by the story. The first episode, I thought that this anime was going to end up being a 7, and then the next 2 or 3 I spent thinking that this anime was worth an 8. And then the anime really hit the goldmine. So I was weary towards the beginning, but the quality of the show shined through. And when this show got to the promise land, it was a steady progression. It didn't falter and fall from grace. I think that's pretty impressive. But because it took me a few episodes to get into, it was knocked from a 10 to a 9.
Overall: 10
This anime is living (lol) proof that quality wins over quantity. I doubt that there are many (by many, I mean 1) anime that are over 300 episodes that compare to this one. I really hope future anime-makers look at this one as inspiration to see what can be done to make a nearly flawless anime. Don't overlook this anime because it has 11 episodes. Don't think that it's not worth the watch. Not into slice of life? That's alright, I'm sure that there's a chance that this anime can sway your opinion on the genre. And if not, well then that's too bad. If you haven't already, I hope that you give it a chance.

The first time that I watched Lovely Complex was arguably three years ago. Since then, it's been my go-to anime whenever I don't have an anime to watch. So if you're asking me if this anime has rewatchable-status, I'd say: "Yes; yes it does. Plenty."
Story: 8
I've seen (what I'd consider) a good amount of romance based, shoujo, and (reverse) harem anime. Although the story's are all unique in their own certain light, most of these anime take a very conventional approach. Of course the boy likes girl/ girl likes boy, they (possibly) get together is inevitable, but what happens in between is what initially

shapes the story and makes it memorable. Lovely Complex is surely a unique jab at the genre. For those of you who don't know what the story's about, it's about a girl named Koizumi Risa who happens to be taller than the average female, and a boy Otani Atsushi who is shorter than the average male. Because of their height complexes, they find it difficult to find someone who will accept them, and they find it daunting to do a lot of things in life because they're constantly made fun of. These two constantly argue about their height amongst other things. They're usually referred to as All Hanshin Kyojin because of this. Behind their bickering they have a lot in common and complement each other very well. This may seem conventional to boot, and yes: it's a pretty basic plot. But it's the story that's unique. Unlike most shoujo's, Risa realizes her feelings very quickly, and it all just goes uphill from there.
Art: 7
There's really not much to say about the art. If you want some glossy art style, this anime isn't for you. Go watch Special A if that's really what you desire. It's not glossy, but it's charming. I'm a big fan of the character design, I think it matches their personalities really well. This anime is really comedy based, which makes for a lot of... "bizarre" faces and reactions. When you come to terms with the fact that this isn't just an anime about love, you'll begin to accept it. I'll admit, it took me a little to get over it, but it certainly wasn't important. It added to the humor of the show, which is initially the whole point.
Sound: 8
"Kimi + Boku = Love?" has to be one of my all-time favourite theme songs. There are a few that come close (Nana, Death Note) but no theme song can make me get up and dance like an *cough* AHO (if you've seen LoveCom or heard someone from Osaka speak, hopefully you get my reference hehe). If I'm not dancing around in my underwear, I'm singing along. Most of all, I like the lyrics. Usually when lyrics are translated they end up making no sense whatsoever. But these lyrics really correspond to the show. The second theme song I have finally warmed up to. At first it threw me off, but now I find it sort of fun. I liked both of the ED's, and the corresponding images. The in-show score can sometimes get repetitive, but if you're not going crazy marathoning, it shouldn't be too bad.
Character: 10
I think that this is the first time in an anime that I have ever -- like ever -- given a perfect score. I cannot express how much I enjoy these characters. Sometimes they're a bit fickle and simple minded, but who am I to complain? When I've liked a guy, I'm often thinking, "I'm done. Wait, no. Actually, yes. I don't like him. Okay, I do. He pisses me off. He makes me so happy." It's just what high school students do. Of course these characters have their flaws (Risa is somewhat of a crybaby and Otani is dense as hell) but even with that weighing them down, they're great characters. I'm so tired of watching shoujo's with mindless bishies. Bishies, I find, are usually only there to look hot and be mysterious. I don't know what kind of girls actually find that endearing, but I find it fucking annoying. Get a personality. Luckily, Lovely Complex doesn't have that. Risa and Otani are so different than anything that I've seen in an anime. They act like real people. They're not broody, mysterious and secretly sad inside, waiting for someone to knock down the walls that they spent building. They're just people. That's the end of it. As for the secondary characters, they're really only there to be secondary characters. There is only one episode that doesn't completely revolve around Otani and Risa. But that's all right. Even though their friends are not the main focus, they still have plenty of personality. Nobu-chan is probably one of the best friends that someone could ever have. She's kind and modest, but she'll kick you in the ass if she has to. Chiharu is timid and quiet, but her friends really mean a lot to her. As for their boyfriends, I prefer Nakao. He's such a minor character with a limited amount of lines, but when he does speak, it's usually simplistically funny. As for the other characters that get introduced, I can only think of one that I reallllly didn't have a hankering for. The chemistry between all of these characters is seriously flawless.
Enjoyment: 9
I think the fact that I've told every one of my anime-watching friends, forced my sister, and my mom to watch it, says something. I've at least seen this anime 5 times through. I'm usually trying to find a new anime that I can watch to pass the time, but rarely do I find one that I'm so wrapped up in. The dynamic between the two main characters is really unlike something I've seen before. This anime also does a very respectable job of balancing the comedy and the romance. Usually an anime can specialize in one well, but very rarely does an anime do both of them well. I can finish this anime in a day, no problem. I laugh, I cry, I feel happy, and I feel sad. A problem that a few people have with this anime is that the ending is anti-climatic. And to he honest, it is. But why is that bad? I think for something outstanding to happen on the last episode would just be unrealistic and too expected. The ending is exactly how it should be in my opinion.
Overall: 9
This anime is, without a doubt, one of my favourite anime ever. My anime watching career was spoiled since I watched this anime early on. Every time I watch a new romance I'm left thinking ".___. this isn't as good as Lovely Complex." Seriously, it messed me up. But I appreciate this story so much. It gives me hope for future shoujos. If you want a great rom. com, I heavily recommend this one. As cliche as it sounds, it has everything AND MORE. It's great for all audiences, and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. I've been searching for a romantic comedy anime to watch recently, and I was flooded with suggestions for Kaichou wa Maid-Sama. I've tried to watch this series before, but gave up after the first episode because it wasn't really an anime that titillated my brain. But yesterday I gave it a second go, and since I'm not in school until September, I finished it in a day. So, here's my review for the critically acclaimed Maid-sama!
Story: 6.
There's really not much interesting about this story. It's enough to keep the viewer interested, but it's nothing spectacular. I didn't appreciate the filler episodes seeing as this is

a measly 26 episode series. the story was definitely missing the umph factor, but as I said before, it's enough to keep the viewer interested.
Art: 8
The art is enjoyable and easy on the eyes. Chibi animation isn't usually my thing, but I didn't mind it whenever it popped up in this anime. The character design was nice as well. The thing that I didn't appreciate about the art was that sometimes it was just so damn cheesy. The 'embrace' scenes usually made me laugh and cringe with the amount of cheese. It could have done without the overly flowery backgrounds, wind ruffling the characters' hair when they were inside, and slow motion. Another thing that made my eyes roll was the slow pan on Usui every time he was introduced in the episode. Okay. We get it -- he's attractive. Stop reminding us.
Sound: 6
I think that this is one of the first anime where I haven't listened to more than 5 seconds of the ED. There was nothing there for me. And maybe it's because I watched the episodes on repeat, but the OP wasn't doing it for me either. It was annoying after the third time of hearing it, and since I couldn't fast forward it without my screen buffering I muted my computer until it was over. I usually like the OP and ED. As a matter of fact, there was no way that I -- even once -- got tired of the Lovely Complex and Death Note first OP & ED's. They had a good sound, and great corresponding images. But with Maid-Sama, it was pretty much Usui trying to look hot. AGAIN. *RAGEFACE FUUUUU*. I didn't mind the score in the anime, though. A lot of the time it went unnoticed, which I saw as a good thing.
Characters: 7
I'm constantly confused with my feelings with these characters. One minute, I love them and the next minute they annoy me. I was definitely up and down with Misaki. I appreciated her dedication and her hard work, but sometimes she was just un-rightfully a bitch. On top of that, she acted clueless when it came to Usui a lot of the time, which annoyed me. I did like her relationships between her girlfriends, though. Because no matter what, she'd do anything for them, and I thought that was nice. Usui I spent most of the anime impartial about. I liked his witty sexual humour, but there was no character development with him. The writer tried way too hard to make him a mysterious character. It was plain annoying. A thing that truly annoyed me about Usui was that he was constantly at Misaki's beck and call. I'm sorry, I don't need realism in an anime, but his 'being there right in the nick of time' was wholly ridiculous. He was such a stalker, and he didn't let Misaki do anything without his guidance. I can't count the amount of times that he has been just waiting for her, saving her, or eavesdropping on her. For someone who was supposedly the most popular guy ever, he REALLY needed a life. Some arcs in the story would have been way more interesting if he wasn't there to stop the progression. The only thing that Usui's got going for him besides his looks, is that he's got a playful personality. I enjoyed a lot of the secondary characters in this anime because they were, a lot of the time, more interesting. My favorite secondary character was Hanata. He actually had a real personality and feelings. He was funny, but dedicated. Out of Usui and Hanata, Hanata is certainly the more desirable one in my opinion, but opinions differ.
Enjoyment: 7
I think the fact that I finished this anime in a day says something. It's entertaining enough to watch from beginning to end. The humour is sometimes fresh, and the story was fun for the most part. There were a few episodes that I forced myself through, and a few episodes where I couldn't stop watching. I like these types of anime, so it was easy to get through, but it's certainly not anything spectacular. A lot of the arcs could have been better done, but they were enjoyable none the less. My biggest annoyance with this anime was certainly the amount of cheesiness in certain episodes. Certainly eye-rolling worthy.
Overall: 7
If you want a nice rom/ com anime to watch, I recommend this anime. It's certainly not the best in the genre, but it's certainly not the worst either. I enjoyed it, it just wasn't my favorite. If you want a truly great rom/ com high school anime Lovely Complex is one that does it right, and Maid-sama is one that does it well. Pick your poison. Hope I helped!

At first glance you may think that Tokimeki Memorial Only Love is your typical harem. And I'm here to tell you it's so much more than that. Have you ever heard of a harem where the anime's most attractive ladies fall for the most uninteresting male lead? UNHEARD of. On top of which, the protagonist happens to be the nicest, most compassionate character, and is always willing to help out. Again, unheard of.
In a world where we have anime powerful enough to make us cry of laugh our hearts out, we have anime even more successful with our emotions. Tokimeki Memorial offers expensive humor

with its funny vacuum monster and an advice giving chick. If that's not comedy gold, I don't know what is. But don't forget, there are those sweet moments in the anime where you consider crying your heart out. Where? During the ED when you realized you watched another 22 minutes of pure geniusness!
Again, the anime doesn't enforce any harem stereotypes by making the main guy unnecessarily popular in school. Don't worry. This anime has none of that. There's absolutely no indication that Aoba is liked. And he doesn't get special treatment in any way.
For a while you might think the main character doesn't like females, and I'm here to tell you that this may be true. But don't worry. This is not your typical anime where boy falls for the most unattainable girl in school without talking to her 3 times. SERIOUSLY, DON'T WORRY!
The ending of this anime brings it at an all time high, with the most amazing ending that didn't have me thinking, "....wtf?" Definitely not. It had be thinking "What the firetruck?" Because I don't swear!
All joking aside, this anime is a crock of shit, don't watch it unless you want to watch a horribly planned out anime. I don't know how people gave this anime anything higher than a 6. And if you meet someone that regards this as one of the best anime ever.... inflict some serious damage.

My friend recently told me that she started watching Fruits Basket and she liked it so far. She was only two episodes in, so I didn't expect anything but. It got me to thinking about when I first watched Fruits Basket two or so years ago when I first started watching anime. I didn't know what to watch once I was finished Special A, and so many people online recommended Fruits Basket, so I gave it a try.

them that much of a story that it just fell flat. Maybe if I read the manga I'd have a different conclusion, but I felt like everything was left hanging, especially the ending. It was an interesting enough story, although I thought it left for little romance with them pretty much not being able to touch.
Let me get onto Tohru (I'm actually suprised I still remember her name). She was clearly inhuman. She's got the least depth I've ever seen in an anime character. She's WAY to nice. No one on planet earth is that kind and modest. After a while it was just annoying. And she was way too innocent that it annoyed me. Yeah, I understand seeing guys naked is obviously going to get a reaction, but I swear she freaked out unnecessarily every time. I think the other characters are generic too. Her friends are generic weirdos, and the guys and girls of the zodiac are pretty much neatly tucked into a box. The anime tries to make it seem as though they have depth, but no. The character building was way too scarce for me to ever believe that.
The art was nice.
Overall, I think this anime is HIGHLY overrated. Which is strange, because apparently I like overrated things. (Death Note, Lovely Complex, etc). I don't know why everyone had so much praise for an anime that was discontinued. Maybe if you read the manga then I would understand. But if you didn't, why the hell watch it? It's not complete, nothing really goes on, it spends the whole anime building up a story that is inevitably not going to get solved within the anime. Torhu (God bless her heart) is the most annoying character in life. You never even know what she's thinking throughout the anime because she's too stupid to realize that these guys like her. THAT BEING SAID, this anime was good enough to finish... a lot of the time I just drop them. So... if that says anything to you?
I think I just needed to pass the time. Oh welll.

I just finished watching Death Note last night, and I just had to write a review for the series.
After my friend spending months trying to get me to watch Death note, I decided, "what the hay, I might as well give it a try." From the very first episode I was hooked.
Story: I like the story a lot. I thought it was pretty original compared to a lot of anime's I've seen where the plot is recycled. If you don't know already, the Death Note is a notebook in which whose ever name is written down in it will die. Him or her will die

in 40 seconds if the writer doesn't specify when they will die. If the cause of death is not written, then the person written down in the note will die of a heart attack. It's not that simple. For a person to die, you need to know their name and their face for the death to take place. These notebooks are in the world of the Shinigami, or death Gods, if you will, and the shinigami only use them to lengthen their lives by taking away from the humans lives. Well what happens when the notebook is dropped onto earth and the power of the Death Note is passed onto a human? Lets just say calamity ensues.

Characters: I absolutely loved the characters in Death Note. Although I wasn't on their sides most of the time, (mainly Light) I still liked the character development as well as the character design. L and Light are very intellectual and mysterious in someways; it adds to the story. There are many times throughout the series where you think, "Nuh-uh, how the hell did he think of that?" Basically they're not very predictable.
I adored the first theme song; I think it's called "the world" by nightmare. I thought it went perfectly with the series and it truly did get me amped up to watch the show. I never skipped the theme song, even when I watched many episodes in one sitting. The second theme song was a little to creepy in my opinion. It made everything seem all dark and demonic, although you can argue that it fits in with DN too. I wouldn't disagree, it just wasn't my taste.
There are moments in Death Note where you're just thinking, ".... Seriously? Why did they even do that?" - useless moments that don't add or subtract from the storyline. Death note hits a boring patch for a bit. Well, I mean it still is kind of interesting, but the episodes beforehand were more alluring. But trust me, it does get out of the 'slump'.
The thing I like about this series is that they did things that deliberately pissed off fans of the series. I'm not going to spoil anything, but they did the unthinkable in certain cases, and it just added onto the overall effect of the show and made it seem more real, so to speak.
The overall enjoyment of this show was high, and I would highly recommend it to people who haven't seen the series. Even if you're a Rom/com junkie like I ;) Death Note is still a good investment. Only will take 37x23m to watch ;D

Let me start off by saying my eyes are still wet from watching the last episode.
The thing that primarily caught my attention with this anime was the art. Not going to lie. I was searching up new anime's to watch, and I was taken in by the art style, so I read the short synopsis and gave it a shot. Not that the art is anything completely over the top amazing, I just fairly enjoyed it. The character design i thought was very nice, and same with the settings.

have something going for them that makes you just want to love them forever. Everyone has their own flaw, but I completely bypassed anything negative with these characters and just fell in love with everything else. And the negative just made me empathize. Great, great, great, great character developement.
I found the story to be that of a nice tale. In some points of the anime, I began to get annoyed at the subplots with secondary characters you never really care about in the first place, but that did not effect the overall enjoyment of Kobato. It has twists and turns throughout the series, and it's rare, but I really couldn't predict the ending for Kobato. An whatever I did predict was semi-wrong. Or completely.
Overall I gave this anime an eight, because only my favorite anime's ever get 9's, and I haven't issued a 10 as of yet. This is close to being a favorite, trust me, I would say at least 8.5, not just a solid 8.
Going into watching this anime, I didn't hear a single thing about it from anyone, so I was taking a chance. Usually I rely on other peoples judgement to help shape my own path, but this time I decided to go out on the limb and try something completely different. I was a little skeptical of Kobato's worth, even though it's rated roughly around an 8.12, but I was pleasently surprised. If you want a good heart warming anime, I suggest you give this one a try because it was one for the record books ;D

Spirited Away is one for the ages. Trust me, this movie has gotten me more than any other movie, American or foreign movie itself.
Story: The story I guess you can say is pretty basic. If I explain what it is, I'm afraid it loses the complexity and makes the movie sound childish, so I'll just skip out on that one ~. If you're really set on knowing, read the synopsis, but I'm not going to go into further detail here.
Art: The art may seem like anything mediocore, but trust me, if you pay attention you'll notice how spectacular it really is. Hayao Miyazaki gave

so much thoughts into his characters every movements. Having the DVD: Special Edition, I see that. Every little thing that Chihiro does is so carefully thought out. From putting on her shoes, to running down stairs. Simply amazing. The scenery and bg's are breathtaking as well. Man, oh, man is this film a masterpiece.
Sound: The sound is relatively amazing. The piano themes that play throughout the movie and the movies score fit so well with the overall product it's ridiculous! I've never in my life seen a movie so structured from Story to art to sound and more! The main theme in Spirited Away literally makes me want to go pick up a piano and learn how to play just so I could know that one song.
Characters: The characters are so fulfilling. They don't shy away from awesomeness. Every character is so well thought out that you can most often probably compare them to someone you know in real life. Each one has a personality of their own and none of them are copies. It's so refreshing to see a movie so pure.
Enjoyment: Needless to say, this movies enjoyment was over the top. I'm guessing you can see that with the amount I praised the movie :$... It's fabulous.
Overall: 9. Why, if I didn't really complain about things? The only reason is because it took me a little harder to figure certain things out, and to me, nothing deserves a 'perfect scoring'. I'm stingy, lol. Anyway, HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't seen the beauty that is, Spirited Away already.
And all you guys who voted it sub par are clearly wacko's. Just saying that with all the respect in my body.
