Re:Monster (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (3/12 eps)
It's not bad specifically. The animation is good, the story has a bit of a spin and it's kind fun. However, fundementally, the concept didn't appeal to me. Whether it'll appeal to you will really depend on the following summary:

'Alpha cryptobro psycho gets reincarnated as chad alpha goblin'. The cryptobro isn't literal, just the stereotype the protagonist fulfills. Every other element is basically 'That time i was reincarnated as a slime' but with Goblins. He's a 14 year old edgelords idea of a cool Goblin and that doesn't interest me frankly. If it sounds good to you then give it a shot, it's not offensively ...

Surprisingly good. It isn't terribly original, but it goes for having a solid overarching narrative with compelling characters who all have their own arcs and opinions. I highly recommend this for Isekai or Fantasy fans, but I'm not sure this will convert anyone new.

The 3 central Isekai'd kids are all interesting in their own way. They offer a spread of opinions and reactions to this new world and their characters develop organically. They didn't feel like tropes to me. However it's Usato who's our protag, and he is great. After a couple of episodes he goes from background character to determined beast. He plays of ...

The worst kind of boring, just painfully dull and absolutely not worth your time. Entirely preticable and while the old characters are fun, the new ones are largely two dimensional, predictable, tropes.

The series is, again, split in half. This time between Van the new hero and Ruti adjusting to her new life. In theory this works but it also means neither story has time to breath. Both feel short-changed and lack any real substance. You know what's going to happen, how it's going to happen and honestly when it's going to happen.

One of the major problems is that all the main characters have fully ...

Dungeon Meshi (Anime) add
Preliminary (13/24 eps)
Ok so this show is a ton of fun over it's first 10 episodes. The characters are great, the general 'monster food of the week' thing is funny and generally it doesn't take itself too seriously. The art style was also quite pretty, but the big winner was the food stuff mixed with a touch of character stuff.

Then Episode 11 happens. This might be one of the most radical tone changes I've seen. It becomes a depressing, serious show suddenly with grim circumstances and grim conseqences.

I went from loving it to hating it, don't waste you're time as well. Skip this. I won't say ...

Okaeri Alice (Manga) add
Preliminary (12/40 chp)
Shuzo Oshimi only does one kind of manga, coming-of-age stories. If you've read his previous work then this manga can be summed up as 'Shuzo Oshimi does trans', and I wouldn't really be oversimplifying. There's no unique story to tell here, the whole plot is blindingly obvious and the characters largely fall into his usual teenage archetypes.

It's difficult for me to tell if it's offensive, and I truely believe the intentions were good at least, but it feels weird that Alice is so awful (at least early on). That isn't my main gripe though. That would be that the story is so, so similar to ...

I really enjoyed this show, but it's worth noting going in that it's not got a set plot, to speak of. It's more of a slice of life with earnest storytelling, well told. As I say I enjoyed it for what it was but if you need a set plot and arc this probably isn't for you.

For what it's worth the characters are excellent and well rounded, though the show centrally revolves around the protagonist and his adventures/internal dialogue.

This is a serious show with good writing and storytelling that kept me absorbed. I appreciated the slice-of-life drama style too.

One of the best villianess anime's ever.

The show revoles around Rishe, a strong-willed protagonist whose on her 7th life and is determined to break the cycle. She's independant, sassy and smart. Bloody-minded to a fault, and these characteristics make this show so compelling, she makes sure everyone knows where she stands and what she will and won't do. Simply put, she's kickass and wonderful and you absolutely want to see how she'll get herself in and out of trouble.

The people around her are all also smart but she has literal lifetimes of experience she isn't afraid to draw upon. The rest of the ...

This isn't really a 'villianess' show in the strictest sense, it's a slice of life comedy about being overpowered and fitting in when you have little to no social skills even before your power difference. I highly recommend it, it's genuinely funny with great characters and many heartwarming moments.

Let's keep things simple, because the show does. If you want deep worldbuilding, clever subtext and an action packed plot this isn't for you. If you want a slice of life comedy with a fantastic protagonist whose wonderfully clueless this is absolutely for you. I enjoyed this as a great counterweight to the also-brilliant, but deeper, ...

TLDR
I really enjoyed this. It's intelligent and focuses on rebuilding and improving rather than heroes and battles. Its funny, smart and really satisfying. I highly recommend this for basically anyone whose looking for something a little more mature than the superkid hero thing.

Cast
The protag is incredibly intelligent, perhaps ridiculously so, but it is believable for a well read, rational person to know this stuff. The 'found family' cast are what really make this show special though, he's not doing this alone and that really helped carry me through the show. Liscia in particular is a rock, quietly carrying the king through his ordeals. They're mature, ...

Mixed Feelings
TLDR
Solid concept which disappointsi execution on occasion, however the characters are fun and the comedy is good.

First off this show does nothing new. However it focuses on the lonliness of power and the value of friendship. This gives it a central theme which, if it clicks for you, will probably carry you through the show. It's a well structured plot with arcs, although the transition to the last arc is a bit of a leap out of nowhere.

The main character is your standard overpowered demon lord, but he has a code and a moral compass which help give him some identity. The two main ...
