Before i start talking about what i liked and disliked about this movie, i just want to point out that this movie is the highest rated anime movie on this website. I did not know this before watching this movie, and if somebody asked me if it deserves that title i would say no.
Now that't not to say there isn't good in this movie, Kimi no Na wa (your name) has some incredible art, some very good music, and it honestly kept me wondering how it would end and wrap up what happened.
That being said ... some of these character moments often prioritise melodrama which

in turn makes them look completely idiotic because of the situation they are in. (i will explain later)
Story: 5/10 (Mediocre) (Spoilers)
This is probably my lowest part of the movie, it loses all logic for drama multiple times, a love story that is much too fast and forced. It honestly hit me like a wrecking ball how they instantly fall in love ... they haven't met at this point, they have their own lives, their own goal and she even sets him up on a date but instantly flips to interest and romantic attraction.
But even if you ignore the forced love story ... how does the ending make sense? Taki acted like a complete moron for dramatic tension and instead of writing a message to himself or even the girls name who he "loves" at this point, he decided it was a higher priority to repeatedly shout her name for dramatic effect when he knows he is going to forget who she is in literal seconds... what do you know, moments later he remembers "oh yeah ... i will forget the girl i love time to write her name! wait ... who is she again?"
I honestly rolled my eyes. This moment along with her "forced comedy" reactions to meeting him the first time. Joking about how he touched her boobs when they swapped bodies and how hes "just a pervert!" really destroyed this anime for me. In my opinion it wasn't "cute and awkward flirtatious jokes" it was silly anime trope nonsense.
(Spoilers) Now ... i have multiple other things that don't make sense, like how she somehow convinced her dad to listen to her when he is the mayor and knows there isn't a forest fire. But he somehow listened to her advice and evacuated everyone to the school after rejecting her advice for the whole movie and outright stopped their attempt to earlier evacuate everyone.
Or maybe how they are three years apart but when he dated her school papers nobody questioned the wrong dates? There would be discrepancies between dates, maybe it was Wednesday for her but years later it would be Friday for him.
But the biggest issue is the ending, they lose their memories and pass each other on public transport. But have a "feeling" they know each other. They then tease walking away again only to stop and declare to each other "i think i know you!" yes the ending to this movie is "love conquers all" even complete loss of memory due to time travel.

Art: 9/10 Great
Really really great art, there is even a scene where the style swaps to something more painterly and it looks incredible. Vivid, colourful and eye-catching!
Sound: 8/10 Very good. Apart from a little lacklustre voice acting, the soundtrack was great and has multiple "anime style opening songs" which honestly were also very good.
Character: 6/10 Fair.
This one was tough, i debated between mediocre and fair for a while, but i settled on fair. I think the word "fair" sums the character development and motivations perfectly. It does just enough, and yes they often act absent minded for the purpose of drama and yes it forced a rushed love interest in a girl and guy they have never actually met. But for most of the movie they are fine, that being said some of the side characters are quite likeable, like the girl who works in the restaurant with Taki.
Enjoyment: 4/10 Decent.
It's decent, and i can say that if you just want a cute movie with decent drama, great art and fantastic music. This could easily be an 8 maybe 9/10 for you. As long as you don't expect the creators to focus on logic and reason over drama. But for me this wasn't so enjoyable, i found myself rolling my eyes too much and jumping on characters stupidity in the moment.
Overall Kimi No Na Wa (your name) is a 5/10 for me. (Mediocre) I do understand how this movie is rated so highly, but does it deserve that high rating? Honestly, no.

Well ... i honestly don't understand why this show has such high scores. Maybe its nostalgia? Or maybe something else that i can't quite wrap my head around.
Code Geass has a bare bones story, surrounded by complex terminology and "mech talk" to artificially create a richer world.
Even the first episode alone it left me with roughly 5 questions, and sure, to its credit a few of those get answered. But you can tell this is "season 1" to a 2 season anime. They leave a lot of characters mindlessly wondering around and the important questions don't even get answered in this season. It goes

predictable places from the get go, and i would go as far to say you can probably guess how the whole anime is going to end, i have my ideas but i wont be watching season 2 to find out.
People get introduced, then dropped 2 episodes later, characters have complete control of their powers ... until they don't. And a story that takes itself too seriously, apart from when characters are joking and playing around dressed as cats, or chasing cats in their school.
Story: 3/10 Poor.
This story is a shambles, on its base level its simple, but as previously mentioned they splice this story with mech talk and long winded explanations that i often found myself toning out and just enjoying the solid music.
Art:7/10 Good.
I will start off by saying this series didn't get off on the right foot just because of its art style, sexy guys that look like girls, sexy girls that look like guys. But both of which kind of resemble the baby alien from Alien Resurrection ... google it. That being said, i can look past it and say the actual art and animation quality is good. Especially because this show was released in 2006. I had no problem with the quality of the art here.
Sound: 6/10 (Fair) A good opening and ending, and solid music throughout.
Character: 3/10 Poor.
The characters are so thinly written, my guess is because they know a season 2 is around the corner and kept all of it for that season to end it on a bang. But if that is true season 1 suffered greatly because of this. From episode 1 each character has one goal, and that's it. And that's as deep as the characters get throughout the show. You discover a small amount of their stories through flashbacks, but even so, it adds nothing to making these characters likeable, or to make you invested in anything they are doing.
Enjoyment: 2/10 Dreadful. I really didn't enjoy this. I'm happy i finished it, but i won't be watching season 2. I probably already know how it will end anyway. Code Geass often gets compared to Death Note, But the similarities are minuscule and liking/disliking one will not mean you will like/dislike the other.
Overall 3/10. Poor
Code Geass either doesn't know what it wants to be, or it wants to be too much and in doing so screws with the pacing so much that you often get whiplash.
(Also, a girl has sex with a table at school ... why aren't more people talking about this? It's the only moment that i remember from the whole season and it comes out of nowhere.)

A girl struggling to decide how to spend her time most effectively and what she wants to do in the near future accidentally discovers that she can literally leap through time.
I had no expectations going into this, i heard people generally thought it was good, but on paper this is a movie i wouldn't give a chance to if i saw it on a shelf in a store. Story: 6/10 (Fair)
The story overall was okay. If i said "anime school girl time travel movie" the instant things that rush to your head are almost certainly what come to fruition in this movie. It has all the expected story beats. Girl gets powers, girl overuses her powers so on and so forth.
Art: 7/10 (Good)
It was good, but honestly nothing outstanding. I guess the movie came out in 2006, but even so, thinking back to 2006 or even before that there are movies that go above and beyond this movie. That being said, it has generally good art throughout the movie and only rarely dips to mediocre.
Sound: 7/10 (Good)
The sound was good, the music was good and the voice acting was also pretty solid. Once again nothing stand out, but i would be a liar if i said this was bad.
Character: 6/10 (Fair)
The characters in this movie were quite a let down, they were very generic and had very little depth to them. I didn't really like the main girl character, she just came across childish and annoying most times. And the other characters i can't talk about much without spoiling things. But they were okay. Still nothing here that stands out.
Enjoyment: 8/10 (Very good)
I ... kinda really enjoyed this, not because of the story, or the characters, but because it was fun. It rarely had down time, it kept a steady pace. And it had small moments sprinkled throughout that kept me guessing how things were going to play out. Sometimes its not the destination, its the journey. And even though the story goes predictable places it was fun for the most part getting there.
Overall: 7/10 (Good)
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo is generally an entertaining movie, even being full of tropes and story beats that are easily predictable. I found it fun. And sure some of the bigger moments don't really get explained all that good at the end, and the ending the more you think of it ... kinda doesn't make much sense with what one of the characters says. But i couldn't be too annoyed at this, time travel stories are often peppered with plot holes. And this story holds it together. (For the most part)
Is it a must watch? No. Is it a fun watch? Yes.

Hunter X Hunter 2: The Last Mission is a sidestory before the Chimera Ant Arc, it begins with a glimpse into chairman Netero's past, a fight and sealing of a new character (Jed) controlling what is often described as the "shadow" to Nen, something known as On.
With this movie compared to "The Phantom Rouge" it feels like they wanted a more serious approach from the beginning. There were very few light moments and comedy spots in this movie. Which to some might serve as something they are happy with the movie exploring more, but with how much HxH i have watched i prefer more

of a balance to this.
Story: 6/10 Fair.
I would say the story is Fair, it's not bad, but i can't exactly say it is great either. For a series that often delivers incredible stories, rich characters, and smashes cliche's, this movie didn't do much of that. But it didn't feel like a waste of time, i enjoyed exploring more of isaac Netero, and of course the characters are as vibrant as ever.
Art: 8/10 Very Good.
The big moments in the story, with massive battles are particularly well animated and pop out the screen. Specifically the use of Colour when ON is in direct competition with NEN.
Sound: 10/10 Outstanding. The series and movies have nailed the use of sound and music. The series as a whole has some of the best music in memory so it's hard to fault this.
Character: 7/10 Good.
The characters for the most part were good, some like Hisoka were underutilised and may have just been added to get a reaction from trailers and put more people in seats at the cinema. The new "villains" are also not that memorable with the acception of Jed and Gaki.
Enjoyment: 7/10 Good.
This was a fun one off movie, i didn't enjoy it as much as "The Phantom Rouge" but its not as bad as most review say it is on here. It seems a lot of people took some form of offence to this movie, i get most of the criticisms (and also support most of them) but ... it's another side story. And at least it tried to add to the HXH world by introducing ON and a character in Netero's past. It also gave us a lot of really cool visuals, especially in the last 10 minutes, i won't spoilt it here.
Overall: 7/10 Good.
I enjoyed The Last Mission, i would say it's a step backwards from The Phantom Rouge, and clearly not necessary material, but what it does do is it expands on the world, gives us more time with characters we already love, and throws in a few albeit small surprises.

Hunter X Hunter: Phantom Rouge is a fun and self contained side story. It explores Kurapika's struggle to reclaim his stolen eyes from a rouge member of the phantom troupe who has already been replaced by Hisoka.
If you don't watch it you won't be missing out on anything that would impact the anime. But if you do watch it, it's just more HXH which is always a good thing. And i was very happy by what i got out of it.
Story: 7/10 (good)

had before meeting with Gon and the others. It tries to raise the stakes as much as it can for a movie side story, and i would say it does a good enough job at this.
Art: 9/10 (great): The art in HXH is always great, and here it was stepped up a notch, especially for the beginning segment with Killua and Illumi and the final act. It maintains the high standard the series already has.
Sound: 10/10 (Outstanding) ... it's HXH character songs and themes, with a few new ones sprinkled throughout, but when the music hits at the end it reminds you how special this anime is.
Character: 8/10 (very good) The characters we already know are as amazing as ever, and i got a LOT of smiles and laughs from this. Especially from Killua and Gon. The new characters were also very good and fit into the world of HXH easily. I though it was cool that we explored a past member of the Phantom Troupe and even got special appearances from people like Hisoka.
Enjoyment: 8/10. (very good) I really enjoyed this movie, i got what i wanted out of it ... more Killua and Gon. And they pushed that to the forefront with killua's jealousy around new character Retz. It was adorable, i loved every moment of this. The animation and music were amazing, the fights were very well done, and they balanced the comedy and serious moments as well as ever.
Overall i would say HunterXHunter: Phantom Rouge is a 8/10. (Very good)

(No Spoilers) Lovely Complex fits nicely among other anime such as Ouran and DearS, it finds it's spot as a Comedy romance story, with a strong emphasis on the comedy.
A girl called Risa who's a 170 something cm tall high schooler with a height complex, and Ootani a shorter than average guy at roughly 150 something cm also struggling with his height and telling the girl he likes how he really feels. Both begin encouraging each other to find "the one" and begin growing closer day by day.
Story: 7/10 Good.

huge number of laugh out loud moments that kept me going even during the slow classroom scenes. I liked it overall.
Art: 7/10
Even though LovCom does't hold up to today's standards of anime, its still not bad. And for an anime release in 2007 i can't fault it too much. The colour palette really saved this from just being "okay" as it was always very pleasing and it held a sort of "painterly" finish. Also the main two characters are designed very well.
Sound: 9/10 (Great)
Great character themes, and amazing openings and endings.

Risa and Ootani were great, everyone else kinda takes a back seat. But that's all this anime needed to do, make the main two likeable and i feel they accomplished that. It did make me wish for stronger side characters though.
Enjoyment:8/10
I ... enjoyed this. As stated before the comedy pulled me through, but there were also some nice little romance moments. If you like the comedy side playing off the romance side, you might very well enjoy this. It's a good balance.
Overall: ... well deciding between a 7 or 8 was a little tough. Ideally i would give it a 7.5, but this site only offers whole numbers. Judging other anime in its genre such as Ouran which holds a 10 in my opinion, i will settle on an 8/10. A very good anime.

A Silent Voice is a story of a boy trying to redeem himself from horribly mistreating a girl. She joined his class when they were much younger. Shōko Nishimiya a girl who uses a notebook to help her communicate with her classmates due to her being deaf. This is where the bulling begins and the story takes off.
For the first 20-25 minutes i was really into this movie, Shōko Nishimiya is a character you instantly adore, so lovable and strong, and quick to forgive. But this is where my biggest problem stems from ... they do such a great job making Ishida (the main

character) hated, even despised. And to me i felt that no matter where the story would go it felt hard to redeem such a horrible human being. But i was more than happy to be convinced otherwise. Sadly this just didn't work for me, and seeing how it ended even though i was happy it didn't go predictable places (e.g them dating) it felt that there were a few key shots that the story needed to get to for artistic reasons. An example i would give is that all the people surrounding Ishida's everyday life have crossed out faces if he doesn't feel comfortable around them or if they are not considered "approachable", to me this was obvious that at some point there would be a "mass acceptance" situation where all the crosses fall to the ground and he feels accepted again. And low and behold this happened ... and for all its worth, it did look really cool. But like i was saying, just an example of how there was a point the creator wanted to get to, and that the journey there didn't feel all that earned.
Story: 6/10 It started strong, got a little slow in the middle, and the end wasn't to my personal liking. (Once again the ending wasn't outright bad, just undeserved)
Art: 9/10 Solid all around. Nothing to complain about honestly, just one moment i felt could have been animated better.
Sound: 9/10 Great stuff on this front.
Character: 6/10 very tough one, great for Shoko, her sister, and Ishida's mom. But some of the others felt throw away.
Enjoyment: 3/10 ... i honestly cant say i "enjoyed" this ... it's a little tough to watch at moments just because of the subject matter, but its not outright bad, Just when i finished i knew i would never want to watch this again.
Overall: Id give Koe No Katachi a 6/10 its a little better than okay, but not outright good also. It's 2 hours and 10 minutes, and i was a little worried this would drag, and sure the middle gets a little slow, but never to the point i felt i was counting down the minutes till it was over. And Shōko Nishimiya is the one thing i can say was great in the movie.

I just want to start this by saying i have never seen a sports anime before, this is my first step into the genre, and i've heard this show has a lot going for it, it isn't reliant on fan service like others, it has a rich story and unique characters, and it has a killer art style. Sadly i would say only 2 of those things are true, the killer art style and it not being reliant on fan service.
No Spoilers.I gave the story a 3/10
It's nothing special at all, nothing surprising happens, and its very predictable. The story begins with Hinata watching

a clip of "The Little Giant" his inspiration playing a game of volleyball. And thus the ball gets rolling for the team to begin forming.
Art: I gave the art an 8/10 its actually pretty damn good, some of the scenes were amazing and full of energy. It also had a good mix of styles, swapping fluidly from hyper detailed, to simple and charming.
Sound: 7/10 Good sound design, and okay openings and endings. From every shoe squeak on the shiny wooden floor to the cheers from the crowd.
Character: 3/10, nothing special at all, the characters are generic, they don't go anywhere new or shocking. They fit their mould PERFECTLY, and never overstep their marks. If you have even dipped your toe into anime, you have seen these characters before, in some other anime show or movie. They just have different names here.
Enjoyment: 5/10 Mediocre. It was fine ... i guess, which sucks because some episodes are actually very good, with interesting with new characters showing up. Like team Nekoma with Kenma. Who arguably has more character and growth than the main characters and team.
Overall: Haikyuu!! is a 5/10 its Mediocre. And it sucks to say it. It had some genuine moments and episodes i thoroughly enjoyed, but for every episode i liked there was one that dragged and delivered bland character after bland character. And forced predictable outcomes that any anime watcher can spot from a mile away. Its even more sad that i found myself saying "why can't that team be the team we are following instead of Karasuno, they are so much more interesting and dynamic". (Karasuno being the main team)
I think you will know if you will like the show from episode 1. Which is good, if episode 1 doesn't click, i say drop it and move on. If it does, stick it through, you will probably enjoy it a lot.

Tenjou Tenge is a short 24 episode drop in drop out anime experience. I gave the story a 6. It was fair, it didn't go many places and a lot of the episodes were basically full flashbacks. They were however events that added to some already existing characters and brought some flavour to current situations, but I feel too much time was spent there when I personally wanted to be with the current team. (Souichiro Nagi, Bob and the rest.)
The art in the anime was actually quite good. Sure it wasn't anything special but even though I only just finished this series it still holds

up rather nicely with some action packed fight scenes.
The sound I gave an 8. (Very good)
That opening and ending were sweet! Super catchy and got you pumped for the episode. And a mellow ending that closed the show. The sound overall was great and can't fault it much.
Character. 6 Fair.
I gave the characters a 6 ... this kind of ties in with my issue about spending too much time in the flashback episodes, which when you think about it the anime consisted a lot of. I feel like Bob, Souichiro and others got kind of left in the dust ... And to me I wanted to see the fun they were having and the comedy they bring to the show instead of the lengthy backstory of Shin. (Which may have been rather critical to the story and the threat being posed but it honestly just dragged on too much for me and hindered the characters I was interested in.)
Enjoyment 7 (Good)
Tenjou Tenge was enjoyable and even the down moments in the show kept the action and story coming in spades. You always know something exciting is around the next corner.
Overall: 7
Tenjou Tenge is a show with some cool and wacky characters but has a fair few glaring issues. That being said its 24 episodes long, and i still have that awesome opening stuck in my head. I enjoyed my time with it and it didn't overstay its welcome. Welcome to the Juken Club!

I have to start by first saying if you are somehow not watching this anime dubbed you need to stop and start the dubbed right away.
Ghost Stories is one of those series that on paper even sounds horrible. A few friends getting into ghost trouble every episode, kinda sounds repetitive right?
Well this anime is one of the most over the top, weirdly intriguing and down right bizarre anime shows I have every watched. The dubbed comedy and characters just blend together so perfectly. I don't know how they did it but the dub fits all the scenes perfectly and I cant imagine any of the

characters acting any other way. Comedy gold with a sprinkle of ghostly goings on.
Now the story in Ghost Stories isn't anything to write home about. Its fine. Its basic and it isn't developed much. I gave it a 6.(Fair)
The art actually holds up decently well. Its really okay. Its not great but I quite liked the simplicity it has. You also get some spooky ghost designs which are quite unique in their own right. This also got a 6. (Fair)
Sound. The opening and ending were ... good in a bad way. I don't dislike them, they are fine, but the ending just ... sexy sexy. The sound as a whole was good. (7)
The characters, well I loved each and every character in the show, from Keiichiro and his incessant crying. To my personal favourite Hajime just being hilarious throughout the whole show. I'm sure there is a character in this show that everyone can love. (Don't expect the characters to go on an emotional journey just enjoy them for who they are) 10 Outstanding (Dubbed)
Enjoyment (Outstanding 10)
How could I not give this a 10 .... it had me crying with laughter. It kept me smiling throughout the series. I thoroughly enjoyed Ghost Stories.
Overall: Ghost Stories is GREAT. Its unique, its over the top. Its a must watch, every episode keeps you looking forward to the next slice of comedy gold. You never know what is around the next corner for both the ghosts and the main characters. After finishing this show I have one word ... Wow ...
