Despite having nostalgia for the first adaptation(one of the first "adult" anime I ever watched), I have to say that both adaptations have their problems but this is much better than the 2 adaptations. Unlike the adaptations that change/move scenes around and having color ruins the shading of this horror manga. The pacing is much better without unnecessary scenes to make the runtime longer. The manga has more violence and has nudity. Considering that its extremely unlikely for another adaptation its best to read this instead and just listen to the first animes theme song.

Basically just watch the movies instead, they have perfect costume ... designs.

I wanted to like this, but it was simply too childish. Obviously, most anime is produced with children in mind, but much of it can provide something extra that adults can enjoy. This doesn't, at least not for me.
I TRIED so HARD to get into this anime. I saw some of it when I was younger from Hollywood video, and wanted to see the whole series, but it felt more like I was forcing myself to sit through it. It was very dull, like watching filler episode after filler episode, the plot was boring, the characters un-interestting. The worst thing an anime can be is ... boring or nothing. I just didnt like it at all.
this is to the orginal, what Tenchi Muyo, is to Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-Ohki. It's less original, simplified, contains more filler, and, in general aimed at a narrower, and much younger audience. If you loved the OVAs (the original El-Hazard), then you will probably want to watch this, but it's far from on-par with the original, and the characters and the world are different. A sub-standard parallel world, in a parallel world story.
This series and El Hazard: The Magnificent World, the direct to video project on which the TV series is based, tell the same story in alternate universes. The Magnificent World, however, is far more concise, dramatic, and less censored. And, if you liked the original El-Hazard, I suggest you try "Dual: Parallel Trouble Adventure," instead.

It's a standard medium-to-medium adaptation - pretty much a waste of time, but being a fan of BoF, it does hold a certain charm. This, however, has absolutely nothing to do with the manga itself. Storytelling/interpretation, drawings, etc... it's all subpar. If you're a fan of the game, sure, you MIGHT not dislike it. It doesnt really follow the game much and changes some stuff. it follows it only a little. nothing special. Its plain, adds new characters, is too short and isnt very good or original. There are parts of the game in it and they are forced. The game itself didnt ... even have much to adapt.

I havent finished the show but this looks like an alternate story and you really don't need to since this doesn't seem to have much to do with it.
It's a fast read and somewhat generic but the pacing is good enough that i didnt mind.
The art for everything except the main characters was pretty great.
There is fanservice, which felt out of place, but i didnt care much.
There's just enough here that i didn't feel disappointed in the end.
I liked the story there was just enough twists that could be made for a 6 chapter comic
I enjoyed it, ... the relationship was fine if a bit shallow.

A rather bizarre combination of bloody violence and cutesy teenage girl ninjas that just doesn't quite work. One character in this anime has no problem hunting down and killing an apparently innocent bear for sport, but turns out to be deathly afraid of . . . frogs. It's too violent for little kids but also too annoyingly cute for adults. Might work for 12 year old's. Includes a PG-13 hot springs scene. I thought it was a good experience to say the least. But the fact that the series isn't continued really is a downer on a good thing. It seems that the man who ... produced/directed(I don't really know) also produced/directed the first Tenchi Muyo. Well, he's dead. He died after making the 3rd episode of this and the 13(?) episode of Tenchi Muyo. This is why there isn't an end to either Ninja cadets nor the first Tenchi Muyo. If the series had at least been continued it would have been better. But these 3 episodes leave you wanting more, which there isn't.

This is an OVA series about a young man who has to fight against an evil group bent on obtaining the hilt to an evil sword in order to take over the world. His father runs a swordmanship school, and when he hears the news he leaves on a journey to find a sacred sword that can battle against the evil one. That leaves his son in charge of the school, and also in charge of fighting against the bad guys. He's a little wimpy and naive; and is of course drooled over by several girls, but surprisngly he's a good fighter. This is a ... very abrupt OVA, like many others, and is rather silly and shallow at times but I found it entertaining overall.

Very good little, short anime. It is a must see just for the comedy and story line. Despite the title.. the picture and the description don't let it fool you. It's set in the modern era.. for some reason the kid carries around a real sword to school and no one cares. Lots of nudity and a Swiss cheese plot what make up this movie. Add in a horrible translation and dub, i highly suggest least doing subtitles. Despite all this though it turns out amazingly funny. So stupid at parts you have to laugh, reminds me a lot of Ranma 1/2 or DNA^2 type ... jokes. Seems more like a series.. and leaves you with a crummy ending but still funny.

Another anime classic that I caught on the Sci-Fi channel about 10 years ago. (C'mon, Sci-Fi, start showing anime again!) Iria: Zeiram the Animation is a 6 episode mini-series that actually be likened to a 3-hour action flick. Iria shines becuase of the world and chracters that are created. The characters themselves are well-done are show a good amount of depth and personality for a mini-series. Escpecially the titular character, Iria. Iria is a tough-as-nails bounty hunter who is just starting out, but her character is still that of a young woman. Strong but feminine. Iria is a great role-model for young women, and a ... good example of a strong woman. The character designs for this show are excellent. Done by the famous Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl Ai), each character is detailed and has a unique look. The visuals of the world itself are equally as amazing. The world has an oriental look but mixed with futuristic technology. The designs for the weapons are inventive too. Some of the weapons these bounty hunters use make me want to be one! I'd reccommend Iria for the visuals alone. But the story itself is worth a watch. A classic tale of revenge and justice. The English dubbing is really good for this one, and the DVD quality gets my thumbs up as well. Rent disc 3 if you want cast interviews and some insight into this world. I reccommend checking Iria out. It's a cut above most of the garbage anime that's flooding the US nowadays.

I celebrate this movie for one reason and one reason only. It does something that no movie in its genre has done before: it makes its characters real. It embraces their infirmities, and brings out the true psyche of the apocalypse movie: a human being suddenly faced with the end of everything. How would you handle it? Would you go mad, would you embrace evil in the name of survival, or would you rise up and fight? Unlike the overly dramatized, preternatural courage exhibited by certain characters in Armageddon and Independence Day, not all of us will find the strength to rise up to the ... challenge. That is what this movie is; the end of the world from a human point of view. A good anime, but if you don't like vague or unhappy endings I wouldn't recomend it.

Now I move onto the i'll fated "Burn up Excess" t.v. series. A tidy little effort THAT never knew the phrase. "Quit while you still have a marginal audience." But no. They did not quit. They kept right on cranking out big boobed babes with badges. Episode after brain boinking episode, and many of us out there still love them for it. So getting down to the subject matter, in #2 the team of warrior girls delves deeper into what makes them tick. From the origins of Rio's recruitment. To the reason why the green haired boss lady has that lone wolf look in ... her eye. It's all here in one form or another. I gave this one 6 because even though it is third rate anime, it is STILL better than any other manga of it's genre for that same era. Anything worthwhile requires patience. The better episodes are waiting for you around the bend. Hang in there trooper!
