if you’re into the aloof, grumpy, brooding male lead type, this story is probably for you, as the male lead checks all of these boxes.
while I do tend to enjoy this type of characterization in most circumstances, I felt it was just a little too overdone in this story. most of the time reading he gave the strong impression that he didn’t care about her whatsoever. they began dating early on, but it’s apparent that at this time he really had no romantic feelings for and just views her as a possession (as he admits). at most, it’s implied that she reminds him of

oh how I totally fell in love with this read!!
both ran and akira are unique and endearing in their own way, they were wonderful characters with strong personalities and great characterization. I really, really liked the continued comparison of the ‘mountain top flower and the sun’— it was super sweet and made their story all the more compelling. akira is a breath of fresh air in terms of male leads. he is, by all means, a total ray of sunshine who is just entirely good natured. him and ran get together relatively early on, so the story is primarily the development of them actually ...

a super sweet, lighthearted, and worthwhile read.
the age gap was definitely a little much, but i thought that the story handled it well. haruhi, the female lead, is easily one of my favorites and quite different from what is typically expected of the main girl in a romance manga. she is a heavy machine operator for a construction company, a total slob, a bit of a perv, but overall very mature and very determined. as a couple, these two work incredibly well together. there is so much communication that typical misunderstandings are not a problem, making the development of their relationship smooth and heartfelt. ...

this was so sweet! absolutely adored it. I was a little nervous about the male lead at first, but as you get into his character he quickly became one of my favorites. he is good natured, clearly adores the female lead, and is not afraid to do whatever it takes to show it.
kaede & hinana are one of the healthiest, cutest, and endearing couples I’ve read. they get together relatively early on and the bulk of the story is developing their relationship, which was so much fun to read. they avoid typical misunderstandings with great trust and communication— seriously, when kaede’s ex girlfriend ...

it started off so well. initially, it was a very sweet, funny, enemies to lovers-esque story that I was really enjoying. lots of laughs, a likable female lead, good dialogue, and a slow burn romance. all the makings for a great read.
and then it completely dissolved into nonsense. spoiler alert: there’s a kidnapping, and a bomb, and an explosion, and then it’s literally never spoken of or brought up again. things just go back to normal, playing on a team with a boy who knocked her out, drove her to a remote location, and tried to kill the both of them.
