Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the most influential anime of all in the 90s and for many reasons. The show is not just a magical girl show, it’s still a shoujo anime with a bit of fantasy in it and also a slice of life in the mix. I think all of the characters are really likable and have very charming and unique personalities as they went along.

I can say that Mewtwo Strikes Back has to be one of the most influential anime movies of all time. It’s too bad the dub completely misses the entire point of the true intentions of Shudo’s vision and instead tries to make it more hip with the youth rather than keeping the true intentions of the writers. The original Japanese version still holds up, but the dub hasn’t exactly aged well. Sailor Moon S:Hearts of Ice is without question the most well focused movies out of the 90s movie trilogy for many reasons that I can list.
Story: A snowstorm hits Tokyo which in turn marks the return of an evil snow queen named Princess Snow Kaguya who wants to freeze the whole entire Earth into a frozen domain of her own choosing. Sailor Moon is one of the greatest anime franchises ever made in the 90s. The animation by Toei animation is so amazing and beautiful. The characters are likeable and the story is amazing. Now when Sailor Moon was brought over in the USA in 1995, Toonami made it into a huge success, but the series suffered through heavy censorship by DIC Entertainment: the company most famous for Inspector Gadget and The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog. Ok, I think this OVA sucks so hard with few exceptions.
Good stuff: the English dub (in which has Tara Sands, Amy Birnbaum, Lisa Ortiz, and Debora Rabbai as the saving grace es of the dub, the animation is so beautiful.) Everything else sucks so hard, because the story is all over the place, the characters have different personalities than the anime tv series, the music is most times questionable of unappealing to me, and the continuity is broken because of the alternative story. Overall I think the original tv anime series stil holds up than the ova and I recommend you watching the original ... |
