The two are episodic anime, maybe Keaton have more intentions to make a ground of the protagonists, but they are similar in the few elements that link one chapter to another: the people.

Both have a moe aesthetic with child like designs and big eyes. And in these two there is a gray tone in the plot, in Alien 9 the psychological topic and In SSR the cyberpunk background. Both have a existencial tone in the development.

The aesthetic is diferent but in both shows the angst and tragedy are the focus. Both have homosexual relationships, on AnK there were more explicit and KtoKnU have more drama. If you are watching for great Boy´s Love Classics, these two are the option.

In both the protagonists are trying to catch someone. Very realistic world, both outsides Japan, Monster in Germany and Michiko to Hatchin in Brazil. M to H, have more action but Monster have more psychological development.
