An ancient curse reawakens in a small town in Japan...
Story:
Uzumaki is a rather fascinating little manga that revolves around the human psyche. This manga succeeds in changing something that wouldn't usually be considered scary, a simple spiral, into an object of horror. The story becomes progressively gory and disturbed throughout the later chapters. Everyone in the town becomes more and more twisted and psychologically insane. I won't spoil anything, but the ending to this manga is extremely depressing and sad. This manga is all about how people deal with the unnatural and how they try to keep their sanity or completely lose it.

horror mangas are built on exploitation, and Uzumaki is no exception, except that it has a well done story in addition.
Art:
The art in Uzumaki is very well done. A lot of imagination was put in creating this manga as the gory scenes are original and are intriguing in a grim way.
Characters:
I found it strange that most of the characters in the beginning, reacted reacted nonchalantly to the rising number of unnatural deaths around the town. Most characters become completely illogical when taken over by the spiral and usually die shortly afterwords. The main character Kirie Goshima is a rather logical character who seems to always keep her calm no matter how strange the situation is, which contrasts with her boyfriend Shuichi Saito, who becomes more and more paranoid as the spiral curse becomes worse throughout the town.
Overall:
Uzumaki was a highly enjoyable read and it is worth reading.

Heartwarming, Addictive, Classic...
Yu Yu Hakusho remains one of the most cherished animes I have watched in my entire life. From beginning to end, I always find it hard to stop watching Yu Yu Hakusho, from the intense battles to the great character development. There are 112 episodes and I have managed to actually watch this series 3 entire times and I own all 4 seasons on DVD. This is one of my favorite shows and I hope this review can convince you to watch Yu Yu Hakusho if you haven't already.
Story:
I'm going to review the story not as a whole, but instead by giving my

impression of each season.
First Season: The transformation of the main character, Yusuke Urameshi, from an immature delinquent into adulthood, begins with his death and rebirth into Spirit detective. From there, Yusuke meets the demons/apparitions Hiei and Kurama (who is a demon fox trapped in a human's body). Along with Yusuke's delinquent friend, Kuwabara, the four create an impenetrable bond of friendship throughout the series as they grow up, while facing many hardships. With a unique beginning, the first season of Yu Yu Hakusho extremely memorable and sets the right tone for the rest of the series, even though it is much more campy and light compared to the rest of the show. It's very hard to find a way to draw in people to watch a series that will take hours out of their days, but Yu Yu Hakusho succeeds in this aspect.
Second Season: Yusuke Urameshi and his friends face off against other teams of demons throughout the Dark Tournament. This is where the series becomes more grim and serious, despite abundant amount of humor, which Yu Yu Hakusho does a perfect job at balances the two. The ending to the tournament is epic, with the unforgettable battle Yusuke wages against Togoro's seemingly invincible team.
Third Season: After the Dark Tournament, it seems that Yusuke's group has defeated the strongest enemy imaginable, until a man named Shinobu Sensui and his band of psychics pose an eminent threat to the entire human race. The season ends in what I feel to be the greatest and most epic fight scene in the entire series, and one of the best I have seen in any anime.
Fourth Season: Yusuke, Hiei, and Kuroma return to demon world, where they each take an opposing sides of each demon king. This season introduces many new characters in such a short amount of time, yet each one is well done and developed, especially the three demon kings. Every good show has to end, and Yu Yu Hakusho has a perfect ending to a great series.
Art/ Sound:
The art in Yu Yu Hakusho is obviously dated compared to today's standards since its broadcast was in 1992. Yet there is a certain charm to the artwork.
The opening theme is classic, as well as all the ending theme songs. Like any other good television show or movie, the soundtracks set the right mood for the entire series. From establishing sense of tension in battle to desperation in a final move to win a battle to the more relaxed time during this experience, Yu Yu Hakusho nails in the music department. The voices as well as the dialogue is spot on, especially in the English dubs. Sorry that I haven't watched the Japanese version yet, but I might later on.
Characters:
From the main character to the villains, and even the side characters, all are given great emotion and purpose to the show. All are well developed and grow throughout the series, even the villains and most of the side characters!
Yusuke Urameshi starts out a tough guy delinquent who is still trying to find purpose in life, that is until he becomes a spirit detective. All I have to say is that Yusuke is one of the best main characters in an anime show and is completely unforgettable. At first Yusuke's chiseled friend Kuwabara seems to be there for only comedic purposes, which he excels at. Kuwabara, though, is a character with a lot of heart. Hiei, the proud and ruthless antihero of the show, is in a lot of ways like Vegita from Dragonball Z. Last, but not least is Kurama, the calculating bishounen pretty boy. All four characters have great chemistry together and make an unforgettable team.
Overall:
I can't say how much I recommend this anime series because it transcends the enjoyment of the average anime show into something else. It was truly an unforgettable experience!!!

Dreadful, boring, plot goes absolutely nowhere...
Man, FUCK this show!
Tokko is an anime that seemed to have a lot going for it, at first at least. Too bad Tokko was too busy fucking itself. Truthfully, I was not able to finish the entire series; I only watched 8 out of the 13 episodes. Honestly I do not even care to finish the rest of the show, even if Tokko happens to have an amazing ending, which I highly doubt. I bet the ending sucks as much bullshit as what I saw. The 8 episodes I watched sucked dirty asshole and wasted my time.
Story:

interesting, but trust me, the story sucks. It was one of the most boring and dull experiences I have had watching an anime show. At times I kept hoping that something would eventually happen; yet nothing does. It was a huge disappointment and letdown of something that had potential.
Characters:
The biggest problem I have with this show is the main character, Shindo Ranmaru. He has a pretty interesting character design and personality. But that is all wasted, cause he doesn't do jack shit the entire time I watched this show. The main character doesn't get any stronger or anything, which really bugged me, because Tokko has a shonen feel to it, like Bleach. What a shame.
The monsters are all generic and are a completely uninspired mess.
Overall:
This show could have been good if something actually happened. The show has to much suspense, like something big is going to happen later in the show. Yet there is only 13 fucking episodes and before I knew it I was already on episode 8 and nothing cool happened. I was pissed off. Please don't watch this show, because it sucks.

The anime version of Gantz is split into two seasons, and I'm reviewing the second season; Gantz - Second Stage. Check my earlier reviews as I have already reviewed the first season of Gantz and the manga version of Gantz.
Gantz - Second Stage is a mixed bag since it contains one of the best missions that Gantz has to offer (the Buddha mission), but also contains a lackluster ending to the anime that makes people scratch their heads.

of who will live; no one is truly safe in the world of Gantz even if you are a main character. The music is even more intense than the first season as you listen to heart pacing guitar licks as the characters battle against the aliens. Everything about this missions is great!
Now lets talk about the filler arc. First of all the filler isn't terrible, but it wasn't necessary either. The filler arc is actually pretty good, but left off with a strange ending that most people hated, which leaves the viewer confused with many questions unanswered.
A lot of people of people who watched Gantz tell me the same thing: they loved the first three missions featured in the anime but hated the last mission/ ending.
*My recommendation is to watch up till episode 21 of the anime series and go straight to CHAPTER 90 in the manga; trust me on this. *
The manga will provide you with the answers you didn't have in the anime and becomes even more epic.

Original. Provoking. Gory. A Masterpiece.
Premise:
Once your life ends, your new one begins inside a small room with a large black ball. Inside the ball is a creature named Gantz who sends copies of people who died to battle against various alien creatures.
Gantz is split into two seasons, and I'm reviewing the first one. The first season consists of only two of the many missions in Gantz.
Story:
A blend of science fiction and pure grotesque horror is what you will find when watching Gantz. This show succeeds at stretching the limits to what can be shown on the television, so expect tons of profanity and body

parts. Also, Gantz contains one of the best and shocking beginnings to any anime show.
Gantz is brilliant as it primarily focuses on the human element instead of just the story, where realistic people are put in an highly unrealistic situations. Most people would probably react just like the people who are forced to fight for Gantz, and that is the magic of this show. The characters don't display flashy moves, but instead show fear and hesitation.
Art:
Gonzo did a pretty damn good job with the art and animation. The weapons, armor, and aliens featured in Gantz is some of the most original work I have ever seen.
Sound:
The soundtracks are eerie and set the mood of Gantz perfectly. Even though I tend to dislike rap music, the opening theme song in Gantz is catchy and memorable.
Character:
The main character Kei Kurono, is somewhat of an antihero, who is pessimistic and frustrated with the world, and I personally found myself relating to Kei.
Masura Katou, who is the opposite of Kei, is somewhat naive and tries to "save" everyone instead of just himself. Katou actually proves to be a role model for Kei later in the series (in the manga). Nishi, my favorite character, is even more pessimistic than Kei is and has a Darwinist view of society. Nishi has some of the best lines in the show and the manga.
Overall:
The first season of Gantz is really well done, and follows the manga almost perfectly. I can't stress how much I recommend this series as long as you aren't offended by graphic material.

Left me speechless...
Story:
Jyu-Oh-Sei: Planet of the Beast King, is a relatively short science fiction anime about two twins whose parents are murdered and are abandoned on a deadly planet where criminals are sent to die known as Chimera. Vicious plants rule this planet, and tribes of humans are forced to fight each other, until a hero is granted the title of Beast King.
Nothing though, is what it seems, as proved in the final episodes of this grand show. Jyu-Oh-Sei is an unique and epic masterpiece, and tells an unforgettable story. The ending amazed and shocked me due to its sad nature. Go into Jyu-Oh-Sei expecting
...
a tear jerk-er.
The show is split into two parts, one when the main character, Thor, is a child, and the other when he is a teenager (5 year time skip). Time skips can be somewhat unsettling, but nonetheless his show is extremely addicting and easy to finish in one sitting.
Art:
The art is very well done and has high enough quality to be a movie!!!The characters models look great; the only strange thing I thought was their noses. Other than that though, the artwork is extremely good.
Sound:
Character voices matched their appearance and you can tell that the voice actors actually cared. Both the beginning and ending theme song are really good, and I listened to both every single episode (something I rarely do).
Most of the soundtracks were pretty good, except for one, which really sets your mood and I consider to be a gem.
Character:
Most of the characters in Jyu-Oh-Sei are three dimensional and have great depth. They change and grow throughout the series as they learn about the truth of the world around them.
Most of the character names are based off of Norse mythology such as Thor (main character), Odin (minister of Balkin), and Loki (old scientist).
Watching Jyu-Oh-Sei was an incredible experience for me and I highly recommend this anime to everyone!

What seemed at first to be a typical smut manga, where the seductive male lead seduces the female, turned out differently than I expected.
Story:
Private Prince focuses more on the troubles that Prince Wilfred and Miyako have to overcome before they can both truly love each other. It is deeper than most romance manga plots and had me hooked throughout the entire read. Expect a lot of drama while reading Private Prince.
Art:
Well, the art is pretty well done, but isn't too distinctive. It does get the job done though and the characters sometimes look pretty well done.

Character:
Private Prince revolves around the characters Miyako and Prince Wilfred. Both characters are well fleshed out and are three diminsional.
Overall, Private Prince is a great manga, not the best, but nevertheless a good read.

"GO TO DMC, GO TO DMC..."
At first I was misled by the beginning of the show into thinking that it wasn't going to be that good. Fuck, was I wrong...
Detroit Metal City is one of the funniest and brilliant shows ever created and is the best metal parody I have ever seen.
Story:
Detroit Metal City doesn't consist of one main story, but is broken into different segments. For this kind of show, this was a good choice.
Each individual story is hilarious, consisting of bizarre situations the characters find themselves in, and full of raunchy jokes which involve raping the Tokyo Tower, masochism, spitting into people's
...
mouths, drugs, public rape, alcohol, and of course a trendy rape cafe. It is jaw dropping, provoking, and ultimately hysterical. I have watched this show with all my friends and they love it!!!
Art:
The artwork isn't top notch, but this kind of show doesn't need masterful artwork anyways. The animation is smooth and artwork has a comic book style tone to it, perfect for the show.
Characters:
The best part of Detroit Metal City is the bipolar character named Negishi. He has two personas, one where he is a trendy weak guy who listens to Swedish Pop, and the other where he is Krauser II, the most brutal metal musician in Japan.
At first I thought that Krauser II was kind of like Negishi's mask and he only played metal music, because his other music didn't make any money. But as the series went on, I learned that Krauser II is very much a part of Negishi and his identity, as well as his frustrations.
As Krauser II, Negishi can do all the things he can't do as Negishi. He is definitely one of the most badass and crazy characters I have ever seen, as his two personalities completely conflict with each other.
Sound:
Detroit Metal City has great music, but isn't exactly death metal as the anime proclaims. In fact, it is hard to classify what classification of metal DMC belongs to, because their music is very original and not like any other band's. Also, DMC's music probably contains more swearing and profanity than the lyrics of most death metal band's.
Overall:
The only other metal parody I know of is Metalocaplyse. I would say Metalocalypse has more blood and gore, while Detroit Metal City has more swearing. Both are GREAT metal parodies and are classics in my book, but DMC is just a little bit funnier.
DMC is a one of a kind show and is definitely worth your time, as long as you are not offended by excessive swearing and vulgar themes. I recommend this show to primarily teenagers.

Remember watching/reading Elfen Lied or Gantz and being shocked by the nudity and gore. Both of these animes pushed the boundaries of mature content to the extreme, or so I thought...
Yume no Omocha Koujo, the title that just rolls off your tongue contains some of the most sick, necrophiliac, psychopathic material with tons of fucked up guro images and defecation as well as mutilated sex.
I have a pretty high tolerance to this kind of shit, but Yume no Omocha Koujo pushed it. I can't even believe I just read this manga.

sole purpose of exploitation. One of the stories, Drafting a Water Goddess disturbed to the point where I wanted to actually brutally slaughter the fucking disturbed, necrophiliac, deluded villagers who rape, torture, and slaughter their own women in a disgusting game.
The beginning of the series contains stories that are somewhat tolerable, but still disgusting. One of the stories involves white string that comes out of people's piercing, and activates different bodily funtions. Towards the end of the series, though, the content becomes more and more involved with scat. If you don't know what scat is, it's shit.
It just makes me wonder what kind of sick fuck wrote this manga.
Unfortunately the art is pretty well detailed and does its job at completely shocking the reader, to the point where some people might even throw up.
The characters...well...they were...um extremely memorable and vibrant. Naw, I'm just fucking with you!!! They were all completely one dimensional.
This was a pretty shocking read. If you have the balls to read this, then go ahead. For what it is, this manga is pretty inventive and original. Don't go into this manga expecting something deep.

Darker than Black is one of those shows that make me appreciate anime. This original, smart, and fast-paced show is able to create a believable world, full of special powered assassins who roam the streets of Japan called Contractors.
Story:
Instead of trying to explain the whole story to you, Darker than Black takes the viewer right into the action. As the story progresses, you learn more and more about the world occupied by these assassins, such as what Heaven and Hell's Gate are.
The first half of the series is split up into 2 episode segments where the infamous contractor BK-201, otherwise known as Hei,

a contractor stuck in a cat's body named Mao, a seemingly emotionless doll named Yin, and their supervisor, Huang, carry out various missions. The second half is where all the climax reaches it's point and everything becomes clear.
Darker than Black has a gripping and marvelous story packed with action and tension!!!
Art:
Darker than Black has really good artwork, even for an anime. Bones must have really cared about this show, because the artwork is top notch.
Sound:
In order for any movie or television show to be really good, there needs to be amazing music. Just look at Death Note, Batman, Star Wars; all contain memorable soundtracks. The same holds for Darker than Black. Also, both opening songs are extremely memorable and were well chosen for this show.
Character:
Darker than Black has an expansive universe with more characters than I can remember; my two favorite characters being Hei and Jack Simon (November 11). All the characters in Darker than Black are unique, quirky, and interesting.
I highly recommend this anime to everyone. In fact, I actually purchased the complete series, something I do for only my favorite series.
