here is a short review of this ova. first off this is only 6 minutes long and it is a story of a man a woman and a red bike
So why the 7 even though it's so short, its art and animation are pleasing to the human eyes. The original was good looking but man this is beautiful. Then you blend that with some stellar city pop/ smooth jazz music in the background and this ova is just a good vibe.

What a vibe. The ultimate space western, its a shame its popularity is lower because of poor marketing when this show aired and the fact that space westerns are more popular in America than japan.
Its not smooth or perfect but rather has quirks that makes it more enjoyable. its like a home grown tomato that doesn't look the best but tastes better than any factory made tomato you see at a grocery store. This is a masterpiece. Its timeless. It's very uncommon to find a show that is enjoyable for all ages who watch it. Those of you who have seen studio ghibli films. in terms of space opera/ military scifi anime shows this stands right up there with logth. in terms of its story and characters. Dont get me wrong lotgh(legend of the galactic heroes) is still better but this is almost as good and as a fan of logth its hard to find a show that compares.
only really two problems first probably one of the saddest character deaths, and the inconclusive ending. there definitely should have been another season or 2 or 3 but the story picks up in the manga, if that's something your interested in. Miyazaki's hand-drawn animation just looks so good that it could take any story and make it believable, relatable, and beautiful. don't get me wrong the story in porco rosso is good, but the art is what blew me away.
seeing porco rosso fly around in his red ship and the interactions with the clouds and water is just beautiful. its a movie that I think recaptures that childlike wonder and takes you back to when you were a kid. its really a superb anime movie and due to it only being an hour and 30 minutes or so I think any anime fan should ...

Quite good and enjoyable more so in the first half or so but it stays enjoyable throughout the entire show. The worldbuilding is really cool and unique, if you watch the first episode, please stay with the show it's a little misleading as to what the show is truly about.
The almost slice-of-life parts when the two main characters are on the floating ship gargantia are the best parts of the show and are 10/10 enjoyment. it's a must-watch anime for everyone IMO. A classic light mecha anime, quite unlike other mecha due to its realism in the world and the lighter tone. you could show this to anyone and they could enjoy it.
The animation is top-notch old-school hand-drawn anime. and the characters are also all pretty enjoyable as well. its the perfect name for the perfect guilty pleasure show. sure you might not like the story you may hate the main character. You may hate guy, you may hate the ending. This show is the perfect example of something you could only get in anime. in other storytelling mediums (holywood movies,tv shows, books etc) and most other anime romances they spend so much time on the 'chase' or the couple getting together. You end up seeing the same old reused will they wont they tropes. so many classic tired tropes when all you want to see is the couple together.
tonikaku kawaii; fly me to the moon is a masterpiece in this sense because it does not spend the vast majority of its time on this, as you've seen from the synopsis they get married episode 1. ...

It's a wild ride to be sure, but a welcome one. Its a collection of stories not set in the new star wars canon or old 'legends' timeline either. So it gave the studios complete freedom to craft whatever unique stories they wanted, in whatever unique art style they wanted, and make unique stories they did.
There are a wide variety of stories some will be for you others wont be. Dont go in expecting to enjoy every episode its not meant for that. Simply see which ones you enjoy and enjoy them, don't hate on the ones others enjoy just prasie what you like. ... |
