Mixed Feelings
Although I enjoyed it, I didn’t think it was as good as the first season. I hate the way it starts out with this dramatic cliffhanger action scene that you won’t hear anything about until the latter half of the season. I found it annoying. It’s as if the writer is unsure of whether they can keep your interest so they use this ploy in the hopes that it will insure your viewership. Another thing I didn’t like about this opening is that I think it’s misleading because action isn’t the focus of the show. In fact after this the show goes back to ...

One of the things I love about anime is that it exposes me to things I never would have known about. In this case it's the Koto, a Japanese Stringed instrument. I gained an appreciation of an instrument that I knew nothing about as well as the music it creates. However what I enjoyed the most was not the Koto but the characters. They were well developed and fun to watch. The Show gives you what you need to feel like you really know what kind of people they are. A lot of characters do fall into typical troupes. Takezou is the studious timid ...

I enjoyed Akame ga Kill. What the show serves up best is the action. There are lots of battles and I felt the choreographing and artwork were well done. The fight scenes are what carry this show along. If you're looking for a lot of depth or character development then this show may not satisfy you. It's not devoid of it but the plot and the characters are pretty run of the mill, which I find nothing wrong with. Authors must be pretty hard pressed to come up with something really original now days. I think tropes are fine as long as they are done ...

Mixed Feelings
I'm a big fan of Tenchi Muyo animes but this was disappointing to watch. There are a couple of things left unanswered from the Dr. Clay story arc that I guess someone felt needed to be explained so they came up with this to wrap things up. It's nothing you need to know for the overall Ryo-Ohki story arc but it may satisfy some people's curiosity.
As for my disappointment I think I should start by explaining what a "picture drama" is. I've never seen this term before but aside from the fact that I'd use the word comedy instead of drama it does appropriately describe ...

Preliminary (17/19 eps)
The English dubbed version of this show is pretty unique so I wanted to review it. The script from the original Japanese version was thrown out the window and they purposely created something that makes a complete mockery of the show. Like most things if you go into it with the wrong expectation you could end up hating it. Whether you like it or not will depend on your sense of humor. The humor reminds me of what I've seen in the English dubbed version of Shin-chan. The characters say things that people wouldn't normally say either because it would be inappropriate or out of ...

This show was a lot of fun to watch. I rated the show based on my enjoyment level, although if you break it down and start analyzing things there are a lot of potential weaknesses. Your enjoyment level will depend on what you're expecting from it. This is a fairly one dimensional kind of series. Genius kid tries to make better and better mechs and gets to test them in battles. Throw in magic and a good dose of humor and blend until well mixed. That's it. If you're looking for depth, character development, plot development, you won't find much. This is about action and ...

Akiba's Trip was a really fun show. After reading the synopsis it may sound like it's all about fan service but I think it's more about the humor. Even the fan service is more humorous then provocative. I'd say its main focus is on the otaku culture and using that as a source of humor. It does it in a way that pokes fun while also paying homage to it. If you're new to anime then I don't think I'd recommend this one. Also if you're going to watch it for the fan service then you might be disappointed. There's no real nudity and all ...

This a great episodic slice of life comedy. The focus in this anime really is on the comedy and doesn't weigh you down with a lot of heavy thought provoking story lines, romance, or tear jerking moments. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have substance. The characters are well developed and even though each episode is a self contained story the overall arc of the series does a great job at showing the growth in the bonds between the characters. The last two episodes take on a bit more serious tone but still mix in a good amount of humor. The show also isn't your ...

Angel Beats! (Anime) add
I would say this show is akin to a sucker punch (The actual punch not the movie). It will draw you in with fun loving comedy and action and before you know it you're getting socked in the gut and having your heart ripped out leaving you on the ground bawling like a baby. Ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but not by much. This is a very well done anime but about a third of the way in every episode is more of a tear jerker than Old Yeller. I don't mean to turn anyone off from this show because it ...

Lucky☆Star (Anime) add
This show is definitely geared toward anime fans/Otakus. If you're brand new to anime I don't think you'll enjoy it quite as much. It requires some knowledge of anime/manga, and otaku culture to understand a lot of the jokes. But if you're a fan of anime I suggest you give it a watch. It can be quite funny. And don't let the cover fool you. I thought since the cast was all little girls (which they're not really little, they're supposed to be 17 to 18 years old) that it would be all cutesy moe stuff, but it's not (well mostly not). In fact the ...
