The only barrier of entry is the first episode, it is significantly more messed up than anything else you're going to see in the series. There will be SA, as well youngling-goblin bludgeoning. But after that point, it's an absolutely stellar watch! It has great writing, some very creatively animated combat sequences, and a legitimately great main character (a one track-minded edgelord to the point of hilarity and yet simultaneously a badass), and a wealth of unique side characters that you'll grow to love the more you watch. It's some of the most f*cked up trash you'll ever watch while also being one of the greatest animes out there. It's the car crash that bent into a piece of art. While I can't stand multiple aspects of the show, the fact that you'll never be bored while watching and wind up accidentally binging the series speaks testaments to its quality. The anime Violet Evergarden is easily one of my favorite animes of all time, it's fantastic in every sense. What this movie is is a 'recollection' of previous plot points from the anime, but recompiled into an hour and 30 minute production. It cuts out some of the best moments from the anime, while adding sporadic jump cuts in some very odd places. It's not a horrible watch by any means, but if you're trying to enjoy everything this series has to offer you need to start with the anime and skip this one altogether. I'll keep it short and sweet; I am not an ecchi fan, that's what originally put me off to this series. But after finally coming back and finishing it (stopped part way through episode two originally), I found it's genuinely one of the funniest animes I've ever seen. So much so, that I've given it a 9 out of 10, a heck of a turnaround! If you're able to make it through the sexually charged material, there is a lot to love here!
Pros; beautiful animation, a hilariously voiced dub, fantastic writing. Cons; you won't be watching this with the family home.

I started this anime during a BL+Romance binge. I didn't know what to expect getting into it, my best bet was it was going to be another cute love story. What I got what's the tale of two distinctly uncomfortable relationships. Mental manipulation being the center point in both relationships, to an uncomfortable degree. First two childhood best friends meet up again, one is in love with the other while the other is still mentally a child. The choice is this; go to bone town or never see the friend again. What happens when an expert in all that is vending machines BECOMES a vending machine? You're looking at it! This show is a pleasure to watch start to end, who would have known there would be so much enjoyment from learning about vending machines in a combat setting! Don't let the average review score keep you from watching this show, I was excited every week waiting for the next episode to drop!
