I had only seen the first episode of Kemonozume around last year which wouldn't stop echoing in my mind until restarting the series today, and now I'm betting the echo's amplitude has increased like a les rallizes denudes song. I don't think I've ever seen anything more visually electrifying like this, and it's kinda disappointing considering I haven't really found anything with this kind of style out there.
Story: With Yusa's illogical animation, you definitely need a wacky story to accompany it and here you'll find samurais clashing with human/monster hybrids, cannibalism, zoophilia, peach loving monkeys smooching with monkeys growing out of an evil head running

on a gigantic ball headed for destruction, you name it. I did feel detached from the some details near the second half, but the conclusion hit it home on an outerworldly level (literally and metaphorically).
Art: Kemonozume's art style is everything. There was this one girl who always came to my class with the wildest choices of clothes on, I kinda had a thing for her. One part that would always come back to me from the first episode that I mentioned earlier was the water in the background when Toshihiko and Yuka stare at each other before they kiss. Or the vibrant colors used in the intro dialogue, not to mention how illuminating it looks as if the animators somehow took a lamp and underlaid it behind the scenes. My only complaint though is the lack of s_surrealizm which I had really anticipated after seeing the crown achievement of mankind Mind Game.
Sound: The episodes feature some upbeat jazz which I definitely digged as it held hands with the action scenes, but there's another piece of music found in the 3rd episode after the subway chase scene, which was the opposite of upbeat. Aw man, you see pretty umbrellas swaying in the streets with that guitar in the background stimulating my posterior pituitary gland in releasing some chillout hormones. The intro/outro themes are also alright, though nothing personally special.
Character: Toshihiko struggling between the path of the sword and his heart was amusing, his romance between Yuka and Rie had its moments, I never really cared for the minor characters (especially their backgrounds), but there was Saru the monkey who I'll never forget.

How does someone even begin to envision a concept like this? The storyline is really imaginative (people exploring a whale jumping from a green ocean of glass in slowmo, now we're talking), the imagery is really dreamy, the trance music is just heavenly and as if they couldn't torture us enough, they unleash the camera panning and flexing in every curious direction, making this an organic adventure into some other planet excluding the planet on which I am writing this review. I know I'll definitely be revisiting this in the future... future?

The only thing worse than realizing you have to take a dump after showering is realizing you've wasted your day on an entire anime series like this once it's over. I don't hate this, then again it's too long, taking me in the middle of no where mentally, and when it's over I ask myself why. I'll try to find good/bad points:
+ Perfect opening scene where she falls from the sky
+ Really addicting harpsicord used in some scenes, watch out for it!
+ I guess it has a nice Castle in the Sky-esque atmosphere
+ Excellent dinner around ep 6
+ The inside of the wall feels like
...
a dark mystical dream
+ Unbelievably well done climax of the last episode (too bad thoes 20 seconds are the payoff)
- I'm pretty sure halo's are used only in iconography
- The wing growing thing was gross
- What's the purpose of wings if they can't fly? --> filler dialogue
- Storytelling seems forced
- Lifeless characters
- Animation seems cheap, imagery seems primitive
- Lame opening/closing songs
- Takes about 8 episodes for the train on the wheels to get rockin & rolling
- Laptop on my stomach was too hot
All in all, this is a very sad attempt at a series, and I kinda feel sorry for myself for ever watching it in the first place. I have nothing else to say. Have a nice day (I know I didn't)!

Well... I never! I may as well just change my name to "never" cause this just took me by surprise. I could very well only recommend the first episode of AnoHana, because any fully equipped and functional human being would automatically feel like they owe it to themselves to watch the rest. I'll try breaking down this review as I've seen others do it this way:
Story

castle of stone surrounded by a moat filled with alligators and like 2 kindra's. Menma the ghost girl who only our protagonist Jinta can see seems to me like the perfect plot (what's the opposite of hole?) "pile of dirt" allowing the viewer some intuition on the whole childhood trauma on which this is based on. Not to mention it adds this sense of creepiness like the silent phone calls thing or her communicating via the diary.
Art
+Flashbacks are so pretty and nostalgic
+Just look at those clouds
-Nothing really gets exaggerated or break the barrier
-No ecchi at all (go ahead and click Not Helpful)
-Menma looks like she came out of a pool of flour
Sound
+Cicadas, my favorite thing to hear in any anime
+Awesome ending theme, which works very well as makes its way in a touching scene
-Lame opening theme song, sounds like Kicell (hurray for knowing obscure Japanese bands)
-Piano can get overused *sometimes*
Character
- Character development? lol the heck's that
- Manma is literally the best. As a matter of fact, I went out of my way in finding out how to add a favorite character on this site just for her. And I love those shots of her when she's looking into the camera and smiling full of life.
-Jinta's my homeboy. Favorite moment of his is when he walks to school on a hot day before Naruko's friends make fun of him.
-Yukiatsu reminds me of Norman from Psycho
Enjoyment
The thing that swept me was not only the amount of sacrifice the characters are willing to go through for others, but them finding out the extent of their kindness, then they become happy so they sacrifice a little something in return like making egg soup and they appreciate it which in turn makes them happier and its just one gigantic whirlpool of happiness. Then suddenly the whirlpool turns into a roller coaster and everything shifts downward in gusts of sadness revolving around death, love, guilt, etc. Aside from the magnificent conclusion, I'd say episode 8 was my favorite. The dinner I had around ep 9 was disgusting (my mother just had to add broccoli in the meat), but the kitcat ice cream made up for that, so I'm not complaining. I know my mind's definitely going to be immersed in thinking about this one when I go to bed. Goodnight reader, and goodbye Manma... I told you I'd find you!

I came in expecting big things. I came out with bruises cause the thing that was inside was HUGE it took up most of the room!! This is just too adorable, with a little bit of dry humor in it that makes it so refreshing like this can of pepsi I was just drinking. I mean it's 2 am now, yet after watching this, my mind subconsciously thinks its 2 xu (ie the time keeping system used in Happiness land). How many times in our lives have we all thought to ourselves "Nyoron," when we couldn't get what we wanted, whether it be smoked cheese
...
(materialistic gain) or Kyon-kun (emotional satisfaction), so this is kind of depressing too if you think about it.
Episode #5 stands out for me the most. #11 also touched upon something interesting when the blue haired girl wanted to cross out her name on a test to "identify" with her crush, yet it turns out he wrote his name all along. I've always believed in following what you believed rather than letting other's opinions influence yours, because if you follow them and suddenly their opinions change, you'd be stuck... that's not to say you can't take their opinions in the first place as long as it's rooted within reason. This way, when you find out that they "had their name written all along," you'd still be safe.
*realizes a pattern in the last 3 reviews written on MAL where not more than 30% found my reviews helpful, while glancing at this one*
Nyoron... (jk)... 13 episodes x 2 min = 26 minutes, all you have to spare... recommended!

Wow. It takes about an hour for the characters to move, and about a century for one of them to speak, I'm having the time of my life here. The premise of Serial Experiments Lain is good, I'll give it that, but it doesn't really amount to anything when everything feels so thrown together, not to mention overly complicated. Maybe I'm just a slowbro, who knows, Lain probably because apparently she's a god, but either way this was mostly a drag. The biggest redeeming factor has got to be the nostalgic intro theme... I think I'd have an even harsher perception on this anime had

it not been for that song, it left me with this feeling of "wanting" to understand what this psychological/mystery anime was all about, and thus the desire of wanting to rewatch this increases like a dead body on an escalator in the mall.
