Densha Otoko's more of a romance story featuring some self-improvement while Tomozaki-kun focuses on self-improvement as the core idea for the story.

Both mystery/supernatural series with a trio of main characters with one being a main female who employed the other two (one kind male, one mysterious female respectively). The main characters (Shiki Ryougi from KnK and Tokiya Kurusu from Tsukumodo Antique Shop) both have mystic eyes of different sorts that are used to help with their line of work. In Tokiya's case, to foresee events into the nearby future of potential death to people close to him and prevent problems from occurring and protecting people close to him, and in Shiki's case, to see lines of death and kill the phenomenon that causes problems.
