I can sum everything up in but a few words -
Why did you not just end this at twelve episodes J.C. Staff?
The story was partially decent leading up to the first arc if you want to call it such; then comes episode thirteen onwards... just a highway disaster.
It would have been a rather touching anime worth at least a 6 or 7 overall if they had left it to end at the mid point.
Kazuki went out of his way to gain some manly points with how carefree he sacrificed his limited amount of magical usage on the 4 girls he cared for and loved.

Think your typical male protagonist tossed into a situation which leads him to becoming popular with a select few ladies.
Think magical girl transformations. Think... cans transforming into girls? Now take a step back and recheck everything that's happened so far and you have the premise of Akikan! which leaves a rather awkward feeling at first which just makes you burst out laughing after Jun manages to portray a rather unique character in Kakeru, the protagonist for this series. What could be more hilarious than a very humorous sudden-girlfriend-appearance set-up than Kakeru being stark naked as Melon shows up and continues on as if nothing has happened? What this anime ...

I can sum this up in merely a few words:
Wasted potential. The visual novel of 11eyes had everything all nicely set up to become a possibly well presented anime from what a few of my Japanese acquaintances have stated with the correct music chosen for scenes to portray the necessary feeling, characters were likeable and the story was superbly written with proper closure each time. The story commenced with all the premise of being an enjoyable, supernatural themed anime with a bunch of kids introduced (the main cast) who would evidently hold some form of 'power' that would become dominant through the show as their own means ... |
